tartalom: + 1 It means the manual pressurizing of the acupressure and acupuncture points. Also it involves the stimulation of these points with electricity or laser treatment. According to traditional Chinese medicine the energies of our power flows through meridians. The body is healthy if the energies of the body (Jin and Jang – Earth and the cosmic energy) are in balance. If the body is not healthy this energy flow loses its balance.  Pressurizing the Chinese acupuncture points improves the energy flow in the meridians and harmonises the operation of the organs of the body. The aim of the acupressure massage is to resolve the energy blockages occurring during illnesses. This Asian theory splits the human body to two times five layers. During the therapy certain points of these layers are stimulated by pressurizing and shorted out and thus it is possible to release tension from the various layers of the body. By pressurizing certain points headache, eye ache, nausea can be quickly eliminated. The technique can be easily learnt, it is import to learn where the treatment points are and how to treat them.     Methods: pressurizing poking pinching Acupressure can be successfully used as a supplementary treatment for digestive system, locomotor disorders, cardiovascular diseases, blood pressure related diseases, metabolism related disorders, respiratory disorders, malignant tumours, nervous system disorders, secretory system disorders and for strengthening the immune system. According to a legend, many many years ago a Chinese farmer was suffering from continuous headache. While he was working on the fields he dropped the plough on his toe. It was painful for a while, but later he recognised that his headache had gone. When his headache came back the next day he consciously dropped the plough on his toe and as a result the headache had gone again. From this point on all villagers dropped something on their toe, when they had a headache

tartalom: + 1 . However Shiatsu is not a massage. Literally the word Shiatsu means finger pressure (shi=finger, acu=pressure). It is a pressure point technique, which is based on Ying and Yan, Zen Buddhism and the Five Elements theory; it is similar to acupuncture. During the treatment also palms, elbows, knees and soles also used for stronger pressurizing besides the fingers. No special equipment or oil required for the treatment. The aim of Shiatsu therapy is to restore the energy flow of the body and to maintain balance. Energy shall be decreased at areas with high energy level, and energy shall be increased at areas with low energy level. The pressure point technique is complemented by pulling, tensioning and relaxing exercises. It is beneficial for the blood and lymphoid circulation and for the muscular system. Shiatsu therapy is very successfully applied in the case of visceral diseases. During the therapy the aim is to restore the oxygen saturation of the blood and to improve the oxygen supply of the organs. The treatment strengthens the immune system, improves metabolism operation, refreshes the mind and mental tension is eliminated. Shiatsu helps the body to kick-start its self-healing processes.     According to Eastern philosophies the human body’s energy system consists of the followings: ether body astral or emotional body causal or spiritual body Energy flow is the strongest through the spiritual channel. The seven main centres located in the spiritual channel are called the chakra. Interesting facts Shiatsu was developed from anma, which was the Japanese version of the Chinese massage. It used to be practised by the blind for the treatment of general illnesses. In the western world it has started to spread for the last 20 years.

The aim of the European Innovation Award is to recognise and introduce new ideas, instruments and processes of spa towns worldwide. Every year, a winning town per category can be awarded. During the decision, the jury takes into account the originality and effect of the innovation, the practicality of the innovation’s introduction, the measurability of benefits, as well as their applicability. tartalom: + 1 During therapies it is important to apply natural healing factors by compiling a complex physiotherapy treatment. This might mean a single treatment or multiple treatments. Treatments built on each other boost each other’s impact, e.g. therapeutic exercise in medicinal water. When applying physiotherapy it is important to set up a treatment schedule. As a first step the medical status check states the complaints of the guest and general health status of patient is checked. Based on the results of the above a physician designs the complex physiotherapy program. A duration of minimum 2 weeks is recommended when using complex Hévíz treatments. During the treatment, if necessary a continuous medical supervision is provided in order to monitor the changes to the patient’s status and the treatment is also finished with a status check carried out by a physician.   Bath types: Hydroxeur bath Carbonated bath Four-section galvanic bath Electric bath Alternating bath Bath reaction (bath nausea) Bath nausea may happen if patient is overloaded with treatments. Usually on the 5th to 7th day of the incorrect complex physiotherapy treatment the patient’s condition deteriorates. Therefore it is important to compile a therapy by a physician, furthermore continuous monitoring and control is recommended in order to avoid bath nausea. Too many and too frequently applied treatments are not always the best option, patients must leave enough time for the body to relax and recover in between treatments.

Immersion has various physiological impacts depending on the posture: Haemoid dilution (“dilution” of the blood). As a result of pressure change the lung’s breathing capacity decreases. Muscles of the body become relaxed. The buoyant force of water, which is based on the Archimedes law, decreases the weight of the body and movements in the water become easier. Water resistance can also be used for muscle training.  Impacts of hydrostatic pressure Compression impact on veins, peripheral (skin) arteries Decreases the chest and abdominal cavity volume Influences the breathing mechanics (breathing exercise) Improves kidney action Decreases the circumference of inflamed joints Hydrotherapy temperature Cold or hot water results in further reverse changes in metabolism and in the peripheral (mainly skin veins) circulation. In a cold bath veins are contracted, thus causing blood pressure increase, rhythm drop and coronary artery contraction in the body. In a hot bath the blood vessels widen, namely blood pressure increase and reflex-based, rapid cardiac action is experienced. Water temperature related temperature sensation is very different for each individual. tartalom: + 1 While I’m still catching my breath, my soul has already arrived. Janett and I run across the wooden bridge from the parking lot, trying to catch the last bit of an immensely beautiful sunset. The flaring red, and rather huge disk of the sun, is just dipping beyond the horizon to the West. A feeling of stillness floods through us, much like the little waves gently lapping against the lake shore in front of us. I take a look at Janett. My dear friend is just the same: After both of us have taken the last photographs, there is nothing left but to enjoy the peace of the moment. … Talking about Hévíz is like talking about the mighty stage of nature that surrounds it. A place where the water buffalo roams. Where the famous, nearby Balaton lake has closed for winter, pulling another lake centre stage: The steaming hot lake of Hévíz. Yes, steam rises as we approach the spa town of Hévíz. “So where exactly are you headed to in Hungary?”, my friend Gaby asks me ahead of my trip. “Oh, Hévíz”, she sighs, visibly pleased: “What a beautiful spot. Ursula and I have been there many times … You will like it for sure!” Travelling to Hévíz from Vienna, about a three hour trip southeast of the Austrian capital all the way into Western Hungary, already exudes a feeling of relaxation. There are no fast lanes or highways in this part of the country, so all you have to do is sit back, relax and enjoy the landscape around you. “You are lucky”, our German driver Volker smiles: “I go to Hévíz at least once a year. So glad we all decided to go on the same dates!” Janett and I have found Volker through a rideshare platform called “BlaBlaCars”, popular in Germany as a perfect alternative to trains, buses or taking your own car. Nice. Hévíz, then. As we arrive by the lake, the setting sun paints the rising pearls of steam with the last bits of colours for the day. “But what the … is this!?”, I gasp, suddenly torn from my slumber in the backseat of Volker’s car. In front of me, dozens of people are swimming in a natural lake obviously pleasant to bath in, despite the outside temperature being close to zero degrees. Mother Nature herself provides the energy for heating the healing sulphur waters. Quite the story: Lake Hévíz, a pleasant 26°C warm, is filled with healing source waters that lie buried about 900 metres below the Earth’s surface  … … framed by flaring fall colours such as these trees, an image that has me travel right back to the beautiful “Indian Summer” in Canada ..! Hévíz is a spa town rich in tradition … … their healing mineral and sulphur waters used throughout various spa & health institutions, and wellness hotels such as the prestigious NaturMed Hotel Carbona here … … a hotel that also offers exciting treatments such as the “Cryo-Sauna”: Janett volunteers to being exposed to -170°C for a very short time, said to stimulate your circulation and give you a boost of energy! Janett … We are waiting for your verdict on your travel blog! That day, I decide to keep my clothes on and only pose for a funny photograph in front of Lake Hévíz! Hévíz, what a discovery. In my memory, I can still feel the healing waters giving my entire skin a healthy, nutritious hug … … every evening, Janett and I are off for an hour or two of spa-stillness at the Kolping family hotel in Hévíz, perfect for both the kids and families as well as the odd “tired-crashing travel blogger” looking to unwind. The entire accommodation area is made up of single bungalows with reed roofs, adding to a familiar feeling of comfort from across the border, in the Austrian Burgenland province. And everyone out here speaks German! For a multi linguist like myself, it is almost a shame I speak no Hungarian whatsoever in return, but hey: Hospitality, appreciation of nature, and the good food & drinks we find here with our new Hungarian friends also speak a language of their own. Check this out. Talking about similarities between Western Hungary and Eastern Austria, one cannot fail to notice the food: Paprika goulash time it is – an all-time favourite on both sides of the border … … where the surrounding park beckons for a stroll (or a sit) … … modern holiday bungalows await … … as well as a chance to dive into the area’s hot mineral water pools each night. Around Hévíz, you will find prairie buffalos next to imperial castles and bustling farmers’ markets. Quite the Hungarian heritage & charm! I love visiting (farmers’) markets. All around the world, they always teach you about an important aspect of the local cultural history. What do people eat? What do they sell? Which “language do they speak”? How is the atmosphere? What is being offered? Who strikes up a bargain? And how? Janett and I decide to take on a feast of rather delicious “Kürtöskálacs”; a kind of sugar-bread-roll that goes perfectly with two glasses of hot, mulled wine. Beautiful second breakfast at Hévíz market. Just a little later, our local insider Krisztina drives us over into neighbouring Keszthely, famous for its imperial palace as well as being right by the shore line of Lake Balaton. Both places are worth returning to in the spring or summer, as we imagine all the green spaces full of flowers, happy vacationists in T-Shirts and us in summer dresses ..! At the same time, it is rather nice walking around without the crowds now .. The following is a list of travel tips on where to go once you are here: Hévíz market: Definitely worth your while … … where we recommend you to try delicious Hungarian sweet bread, and hot wine if you wish. Just about a twenty minutes drive and you will find yourself in front of Lake Balaton, Western Hungary’s famous steppe lake … … the advantage being only few visitors during low season … … same here at Keszthely Palace … … which we are able to visit almost exclusively on our own. Do visit the palace library: A magical spot filled with old books some of which are many centuries old ..! And if you, like us that day, wish to freshen up a little … … consider heading to Télikert Restaurant: Great food, friendly staff & a generous, urban flair here at Lake Balaton. If pure nature is what you prefer … … nature, horses, and romance … … then go visit the local buffalo farm, where you can learn a thing or two about the noble prairie dwellers and appreciate the local landscape around you! Thank you so much, my dear Janett, for helping to organise our #BloggerWellness days in Hévíz ! Hévíz & around : We’ll be back one day for sure! The impact of relaxing massage can be further boosted and/or complemented with the application of various essential oils or their combination. The techniques of relaxing massage, similarly to most massage types use the techniques of Swedish massage. But it is a more refined technique with the aim of relaxing the patient and to dissolve the stress fields within the body. Hypnotic and calmative smoothing strokes relax the patient. It is recommended for overdriven, very exhausted patients subject to lot of stress. The water flow gives a nice sensation to patient, increases blood circulation and has a stimulating effect through the skin. It has weaker, lighter massaging power than the underwater jet massage. There are no counter-indications for the hydroxeur bath; therefore it can be used without physician supervision. Duration of the treatment: approx. 10 to 20 minutes. Other bath types: Carbonated bath Four-section galvanic bath Electric bath Alternating bath Other hydrotherapy treatments: Weight bath Underwater jet massage Thermotherapy Alternating bath Kneipp foot bath Hydro galvanic treatment Interesting facts Hydroxeur bath is one of the modern versions of underwater massage. lead: Chinese massage therapy is one of the ancient therapies.
tartalom: + 1 It is part of the alternative massages and constitutes important part of the traditional Chinese medicine. It is also called Tui-Ni therapy. As a matter of fact it is an energetic treatment, which uses massage and dislocating techniques. Those points are stimulated by this massage, which are located on the energy flow paths of the body. It is based on the meridian system mentioned at the description of the acupressure treatment and on the stimulation of the given acupressure points. Patients are allowed to wear clothing during treatments. The aim of Chinese massage is to remove the barriers obstructing vital power (Qi) flow and to harmonise the body’s energy management. The masseur achieves the required effect by putting pressure on the respective points of the meridian system. Chinese massage technique can be applied in two ways, but it also depends on the treated person and body part. If the aim is to strengthen and stimulate the body the application of Yang technique is recommended; if we wish to relax the body, Yin technique shall be used. Chinese massage therapy is ideal for muscular fatigueness, back- and muscle aches, joint and spine disorders, gynaecological problems, for the mitigation of chronic or virulent rheumatic disorders, furthermore it plays an important role in prevention. Interesting facts First written record related to Chinese massage was found in one of the medical books of the Yellow Emperor. In terms of its basic principles it’s a uniform method, but there are various versions of Chinese massage. Number 36 is an important element in the Chinese massage as it is used as a measurement unit.
