On the one-and-a-half kilometer long Búbosvöcsök nature trail, 15 signs present the fish, birds, and mammals of the Little Balaton. You can also fish on the island and you can spy the water and the Zalai hills from two lookouts. In cooler weather, a little indoor attraction is good The Kis-Balaton Visitor Center is an exhibition of the Balaton Upland National Park that has only been open for 2 years. It is an excellent choice for the whole family all year round. You can walk along an interactive nature trail on the building's green-roofed structure, which looks like wildlife crossings. From here you can clearly see the winter bird feeders and you can hear the "opening song" of the ever more active black tit. The building houses a gift shop and a restaurant, and children can enjoy fresh air on the playground in the courtyard, while parents refresh themselves with coffee. Part of the exhibition is the cinema, where during a half-hour film we can get to know the winter-summer, autumn-spring life of Kis-Balaton through soul-touching quotes selected from the novels of István Fekete Tüskevár and Téli berek, all in the understanding interpretation of Gábor Reviczky. In the interactive part of the exhibition, we can find out what invasive species are and why we don't like them. We will find out what the role of Little Balaton is in protecting the water quality of Lake Balaton, and we can even examine water samples ourselves. Those who want to see even more of this magical wildlife can take part in a guided canoe tour organized by the Balaton Upland National Park from early spring to late autumn. The winter canoeing season has also started on the Hévíz stream. Those who take part in this can row along the Hévíz stream and then the Gyöngyös stream, and get to know this unique wetland. The end point of the rowing tour is Diás Island, where the Matula hut, evoking the atmosphere of Tüskevár, stands. At the István Fekete Memorial next to the small wooden hut, you can also delve into the hidden wonders of Kis-Balaton during a very interesting exhibition. Our secret tip is the bird watch and fish ladder Several locations in Kis-Balaton, such as the aforementioned Diás island, can only be visited with a guide, but there are still quite a few romantic and protected areas that can be visited freely without a guide. Next to the Zala river, at the dam of Lake Hídvégi, you can find the Madárvártara, which was built by Zurich students from thousands of acacia logs without any nails or screws. Next to the parking lot, 100 meters away on the fish ladder, depending on the season, you can marvel at the cavalcade of fish. The fish ladder between the Zala River and Lake Hidvégi slows down the flow of water, so that fish can easily swim upstream.   Buffaloes and other types of animals In the Kápolnapuszta buffalo reserve, in addition to the black giants, the ground squirrels are the favorites of children and adults, who cutely graze on the grass grazed by the buffaloes. Anyone who did not know János Arany's poem Arany Lacinak would not even think that the poor groundhog was "cast". Even at the beginning of the 20th century, groundhogs were considered harmful and therefore water was poured into their passages. Other spectacular animals are the jumping goats and donkeys in the petting zoo. In the colonies dug into the loess wall, the gophers attract attention with their brightly colored feathers. But what about buffaloes? The Balaton Upland National Park started breeding water buffalo in the area purchased in 1992 for the purpose of gene conservation. The largest herd of buffaloes in the country can be found in the territory of the reserve, which lives in great peace with the gray cattle. During the winter, the animals spend most of their time in the barn near the entrance, where you can see the traditional animal husbandry in a cozy old photo next to the buffaloes. In case of good weather, the animals are in the pastures, which can be reached in the easiest way by a horse-drawn carriage ordered from the reception building. The giants are "buffalo-strong" and do not necessarily always approach people with friendly intentions, and driving through them in a horse-drawn carriage is a real "safari" feeling. A new feature of the reserve is the viewing platform, which was handed over on January 28, from which we can now also observe the animals from above. At the Kis-Balatonház exhibition, you can learn about the living world, and children can have fun on the playground. More than 30 additional volunteers took part in the event. A special competition The goal of the organizers was to create a new sport competition that is also unique nationwide. They not only paired two completely different sports (rowing and running) as a duathlon but they have also chosen a very special venue. The Hévíz stream leads away the warm running water of Lake Hévíz, so despite the winter weather, you can row on a pleasantly warm, steaming stream. The date of the competition was also predetermined by the conditions of the location, as rowing on the Hévíz stream is only possible from November to March. As the stream belongs to the local national park, canoeing is strictly forbidden outside the given period since it would disturb the flora and fauna especially in the breeding season in summer. So it is no coincidence that the late autumn date has been chosen. The aim of the organizer, the Hévíz Tourism Non-profit Ltd. was also to draw attention to the importance of exercise, active recreation in nature and a healthy lifestyle. They wanted to prove that Hévíz is not only a paradise for lovers of healing and wellness, but it can also offer many values ​​and opportunities for athletes at any time of the year. The competition itself 83 starting teams, a total of 146 competitors arrived at the water-gate of the Hévíz stream to get into the water by canoe, kayak or SUP, and to make their way to Fenékpuszta which is about 10 kilometres away. Participants were able to bring their own watercrafts but those who didn’t have their own were also able to rent a canoe on the spot. After completing the 10-kilometre water distance, the participants were able to leave the boats at the transfer point and change their water vehicle for running shoes. After this their task was to run back on the same route on the embankment next to the Hévíz stream to finally reach the finish line at the beach of Lake Hévíz. The race has started on November 27 at 9 am, when the first canoe on the Hévíz stream in the direction of Fenékpuszta set off. The participants started the competition periodically, a new canoe set sail in almost every second minute. The last runner arrived back at the Hévíz Lake Bath beach area at 3 pm. All participants received the HEVIZIBIVALY Duathlon medal. THE PARTICIPANTS OF THE FIRST DUATLON Pre-registration for the competition was open until November 19th. In the morning of November 27, 83 competitors finally set out to complete the approximately 21-kilometer distance, including rowing and then running. All together 48 two or three-member teams and 35 individual participants (28 men, 7 women) set off. We welcomed ultra-runners, kayakers and amateur athletes among the competitors. No one gave up the race, all starters covered the distance without accident, so in the end all 146 competitors received the HEVIZIBIVALY medals. THE FINALISTS TEAMS: BL Team (#49) with a time of 2:10:04. Tamás Kolb and Judit Maléth (#54) with a time result of 2:15:28. Tamás Horváth and Gábor Major (#8), with a time result of 2:15:42. The success of the competition and the sincere enthusiasm of the competitors confirmed the organizers to organise the HEVIZIBIVALY Duathlon competition again and again every year during the winter, if they can. And lastly…   Why the competition is called ‘HEVIZIBIVALY’ 'HEVIZIBIVALY' means 'buffalo from Hévíz' in Hungarian. Barely 50 years ago, water buffaloes were trampled along the bed of the Hévíz stream several times a year. The buffalos were driven here from the area to walk up and down in the creek bed. As the bed of the stream was always full of plants, the buffalos trampling down the plants ensured that the water flowed continuously and evenly in the direction of Lake Balaton. Buffaloes still live in several places in the area today, but they no longer have the task of cleaning the creek bed.   This year our competitors have proven that they have the power of a buffalo. tartalom: + 1 11-19 February Kissing benches in Hévíz Organized by the Hello Hévíz - Hévíz Entrepreneurs Association, cozy benches, bridges and gates awaited the romantic guests in Hévíz for the 3rd time in the middle of February. The "kissing benches" set up in many parts of the city not only put passers-by in a romantic mood, but those who submitted their photos could also participate in a nice game. 18 February Women's Carnival The vendors of the Hévíz Farmers' Market organized the first Women's Carnival in 2023 with the goal of creating tradition. At the cozy event, fun, fun and delicious carnival snacks played a leading role, much to the delight of the participants and market visitors.  7-10 April Easter fair Traditionally connected to the Easter festivities, the organizers welcome visitors to Hévíz with a craft fair, an egg hunt game, children's programs and atmospheric concerts. More concerts are expected in the evening, but even on Sunday, various bands will entertain the guests of Hévíz. 1 May is traditionally the day of the city, when the honorary titles of the city of Hévíz are awarded. Throughout the three-day long weekend, artisans, wineries and gastro stands await visitors in Rákóczi Street. On Sunday, you can even expect a cozy lakeside picnic. 14 May Running race After a 3-year break, young and old alike can re-enroll and support the Hévíz Running Festival. The running competition is organized by the Hévíz sports association for several distances and age groups. You can find the entry fees, distances and route on the event page, where the information is constantly updated. 19 May Moonlight bath on Lake Hévíz This year, the Hévíz Lake team organizes two late-night bathing sessions in Lake Hévíz, once in the spring and once in the fall. This year, for the first time in mid-May, you can enjoy the atmosphere of a really fast-paced concert while swimming in the warm water of the thermal lake. The evening will be opened by the best-known ABBA hits, followed by a retro disco. 28-29 May Pentecost Superhero program For the third time, the Hello Hévíz - Hévíz Entrepreneurs Association organizes the Pentecost superhero family program. Many challenges, multiple locations, funny and fun trials throughout the city. Thus, we await guests with family-friendly programs even during the long weekend of Pentecost. 23 June Midsummers Eve's program On the occasion of Midsummers Eve's programs are expected in Hévíz on June 23. This year, the local entrepreneurs are also organizing a torchlight parade and an atmospheric, musical program in Egregy, in the museum garden. 13-16 July BEER promenade in Hévíz In whatever form you like it, come to us on the second weekend of July and celebrate with us the traditional drink, beer, also known as "liquid bread" for an entire weekend.In addition to beer, of course there is also a place for the delicious dishes that go with them, and days do not go by without good music. We warmly welcome everyone to a festival with a family atmosphere, where there will be interactive sessions and workshops during the day, and thematic programs in the evening. In Rákóczi Street, many local and invited wine houses, roast stalls and artisans will be selling their wares. It's noon on stagewe entertain the public visiting Hévíz with children's shows every afternoon and concerts in the evenings!   September TavirózsaFolkFest Negotiations are still ongoing regarding the autumn folk dance meeting, but we are confident that we will be able to watch the shows of many performers on the Rákóczi Street stage this year as well. September 15. Moonlight bath on Lake Hévíz The second lakeside party of the year, extending into the night, will take place in mid-September. Similar to previous occasions like this, there will be live music, a retro disco atmosphere, night bathing, delicious snacks and refreshing drinks in the Hévíz Tófürdő. 16-17 October Chestnut festival Organized by the Tavirózsa Adventure Park, you will be able to learn everything about the chestnut again this year. The variety of bicycles you can rent at the Tourinform Office of Hévíz has been adjusted accordingly so everyone can enjoy cycling.   SIX MODERN E-BIKES CAN BE RENTED FOR 2 OR 24 HOURS Let it be the hills around Hévíz or the inclines within the city - with these new e-bikes it all becomes easy. Even longer bike tours can be made with the bikes, since the batteries have a range of 50-60 kilometers.   Prices:   Normal Trekking Bicycles: 2 hours: 1,500 HUF 24 hours: 3,000 HUF   E-bikes: 2 hours: 3,000 HUF 24 hours: 5,500 HUF     3 ROUTE SUGGESTIONS:   1. HÉVÍZ-KESZTHELY-GYENESDIÁS-VONYARCVASHEGY-BALATONGYÖRÖK From the Tourinform Office you can reach Keszthely after a 6-kilometer bike path between beautiful swamp cypresses, along Lake Hévíz. In Keszthely, you can get to the shores of Lake Balaton via the pedestrian zone and then along the residential area of ​​the city. The bike path runs along the bank, past the new apartment buildings. A short detour can be made at Libás Beach or at the small, atmospheric Lido Beach in Gyenesdiás, then you can continue towards Vonyarcvashegy. This is one of the most beautiful parts of the tour. A bike charging station is also located in the Tourinform Office in Vonyarcvashegy. The beautiful view of Balatongyörök was already known to the Romans, as evidenced by the finds found in the area. Distance: return trip: 36 km   2. RETURN BY SHIP, ENJOY THE LAKE! If you do not want to return from Balatongyörök by bicycles, you can continue your journey with a ship on Lake Balaton. In the summer, a ship to Keszthely leaves at 5.25 p.m. From Keszthely you can easily return to Hévíz by bike.     3. GUIDED BIKE TOUR WITH A LOCAL TOUR GUIDE In the city center of Hévíz, the e-bike is an ideal means of transport, and the whole city can be explored in just about 2 hours. During the bike tour, your guide will present the most famous buildings in the city: the lake, the Hévíz stream, Roman ruins and among other things the church from the so called Árpádian period. Kis-Balaton (Small Balaton), is one of Europe’s most important wetlands, and is only a 15-minute-drive away from Hévíz. Here you can admire the flight of graceful herons and white-tailed eagles.   In Tapolca, you can take a subterranean boat trip on the crystal-clear water of the Lake Cave, while in Balatonederics, the wonders of the limestone chambers of the Csodabogyós Cave await you.  The tourist attractions of the national park encompass an area full of unique natural wonders. Whether it be the lakes, hills, caves or visitor centres, there is something to discover every day. Keszthely, the town of the Festetics Family Keszthely is located only 8km away from Hévíz which visitors can either walk or ride to along to purpose built bike path most of which is through shaded forests. The town, which is more than 750 years old, has many places to discover including the Festetics Palace. It is one of the most beautiful Baroque palaces in Hungary, furnished with period furniture. The park surrounding the Festetics Palace features numerous exhibitions including a Carriage Museum, Hunters’ Museum, and located in the same building, a model railway exhibition. It is also worth visiting the Amazon House and the Balaton Museum showing the history of Lake Balaton. Whilst walking on the promenade by the lake, enjoy the wonderful sight of Lake Balaton, which becomes a paradise for families with children and yachtsmen during the summer. What else could top your holiday off than with as a pleasure boat trip on the shimmering blue waters.

On Saturday morning, organized by the Hévíz Entrepreneurs' Association, a children's performance titled The Legend of the Red Egg will be available in the Mayor's Hall. Supporter tickets for the performance will be available for purchase on the spot. The traditional Easter program of the Hévíz Entrepreneurs' Association, the Egg Hunt, is also waiting for the little ones at several points in the city. You will find the locations of the egg hunt on the HelloHévíz website, Hévíz merchants and entrepreneurs will help you with the game and find small Easter gifts. The program takes place on Saturday between 12:00 and 17:00. On Saturday afternoon, the main role will again be played by music on the Rákóczi Street stage. First, the Vagabond Ensemble entertains the audience, then an Easter show entitled Gyöngyözön creates a festive atmosphere in the pedestrian street.At 19:30 in the evening, Holy Saturday Mass begins in the Roman Catholic Church of the Holy Spirit, which ends with a procession. lead: The Lake Bath of Hévíz awaits you with a special program on 17 May, between 7 pm and 10 pm for the first time this year.

tartalom: + 1 COLD EVENING. WARM WATER. HOT MOOD. Although nights are still a little cold, the early summer weather still promises a good time for 17 May. Besides the hot thermal water, many other things await those who buy tickets for the Friday event; live music, food specialties, coctails are being prepared by the team of the Lake. On this day, the entrance of Festetics Spa reopens at 7 pm and visitors can bath at a certain beach with lights during the evening. Cocktails and food specialties will be served at the terrace of Vital Bar. The good mood is guaranteed by DJ LOTFI BEGI performances. If you would like to participate in the atmospheric night bathing, we advise you buying your tickets in advance. We provide the opportunity to purchase tickets online at https://jegy.spaheviz.hu/ or at the venue on the day of the event. Only people over 16 can participate in the program. A limited number of tickets are available. Ticket price HUF 6,500/person. We recommend redeeming tickets with a QR code purchased online for wristbands on the day of the event - during the daytime opening hours of the Hévíz Tófürdő - to avoid queuing at the ticket office in the evening. Bathing is only allowed in designated areas. A maximum of 50 people can stay in the wellness department at the same time. Entry, exchange of tickets and redemption of tickets purchased online for wristbands is possible on the day through the Festetics Bathhouse and the Main Entrance. Vital Bar awaits bathers with non-alcoholic and alcoholic long drinks, hot and cold drinks. The offer of our Medio buffet is supplemented with street food during the evening. Payment means: cash, bank card, SZÉP card (OTP, K&H, MBH). The welcome drink can be redeemed against the coupon attached to the entrance ticket. In the case of online purchases, the coupon will be provided on site alongside the entrance wristband. We do not accept complaints after leaving the checkout. We cannot refund the ticket price. This ticket type can only be used on the evening of May 17, 2024. We reserve the right to change the program in case of bad weather. Everyone participates in the programs at their own risk. lead: On Earth Day (April 22), let's acknowledge the efforts and contributions of projects in our city that help preserve both the city and the planet for future generations.

tartalom: + 1 In the face of growing global climate change, the need to respond to its impacts has never been more urgent. The Danube Transnational Programme (DTP) promotes economic, social, and territorial cohesion in the Danube River region, enabling partners from 14 countries to test innovative solutions for climate resilience.   The first call of the Interreg Danube Region Programme attracted 290 concepts, of which 89 passed to the second stage, and 60 reached the stage of financing agreements. Twenty of these projects fall under the priority "A greener, low-carbon Danube Region." One innovative project from this selection is Be Ready (UrBan hEat islands REsilience, prepAreDness and mitigation strategy). The project aims to provide local and regional authorities with tools to identify urban heat islands and understand their causes and consequences on human health, productivity, energy consumption, and biodiversity. The project brings together 19 partners from 12 countries jointly developing solutions to mitigate the effects of heat islands in urban environments. Partner cities, including Hévíz will develop action plans to overcome urban heat islands through data analysis, urban planning solutions, regulations, increased awareness, and infrastructure measures.   A key aspect of the project's approach is the concept of "urban acupuncture" - specific small interventions with a large effect. Urban pilot activities will explore solutions in three areas: "green acupuncture," using vegetation; "white acupuncture," using innovative surfaces and materials; and "blue acupuncture," related to new ways of using water resources.   You can get involved and support actions fighting climate change Hévíz and make the world more sustainable for everyone.
