lead: After being closed for more than 7 weeks, Lake Hévíz reopens its gates on 9 May, at 9 o’clock.

tartalom: + 1 With taking the right safety measurements, the Lake opens only its beach side for the time being. The Spa asks its visitors to follow the rules regarding hygiene and use only the showers which are located outside on the beach.  The indoor areas are being sanitized continuously, but they are not open yet for guests. Lake Hévíz is in the unique situation that the 4.4 hectare of natural, clean thermal water constantly changes and cleans itself naturally due to its discharge rate of 410 litres per second. The temperature of the lake revolves around 30 °C as of right now, thanks to the thermal springs inside the lake. This way outdoor swimming and bathing is really pleasant right now. Lake Hévíz is also surrounded by a 6.6-hectare forest, where guests coming to Hévíz can easily avoid crowds and be in the fresh air while enjoying themselves in the shadows of the wonderful swamp cypresses.     The Hotels Are Preparing to Open too Hotels in Hévíz are accepting reservations from Whitsun, however, most of the hotels will stay closed during the weeks before that.  Currently the staffs of the hotels are working behind closed doors; they are making everything in preparation for the arriving guests so they can enjoy their stay in the cleanest and safest environment. For the time being, the most important thing is safety. All the hotels do everything in their power to follow the safety rules made by the Hungarian Government and the statements released by the Hungarian Touristic Agency in their COVID guidebook. In Hévíz, there were no problems regarding tidiness in the hotels before the outbreak of the virus either, most restaurants and community centrums had already had hand sanitizers placed out. Currently they are working together to make buffet cafeterias 100% safe for the hotel guests: safety is important for all of us especially regarding the touch-free service and keeping the suggested social distance.   The Farmers’ Market of Hévíz and Other Attractions Since 4 May, Hévíz has started to revive: the terraces of the restaurants and cafés are starting to open up, the windows of stores are being reorganised. Parks and playgrounds are also open, the new plants and flowers for the summer were also set up in the flowerbeds. Soon you will be able to find your favourite ice cream at the best ice cream parlour in the city, at the Rózsakert Restaurant. Soon the best wines will be also available at the cellars and restaurants at the Egregy vineyards. The Farmers’ Market of Hévíz is also open with the regular working hours three times a week; however, between 9 and 11 am only people over 65 years old can purchase the fresh fruits and vegetables. At the market, the use of face masks is compulsory! For the re-opening of the museums and the cinema we still have to wait. Events still cannot be organised, however, the local government is trying to find a solution so the streets of Hévíz can be filled up with music again with avoiding the big gatherings as well. The Tourinform Office of Hévíz is still only open via telephone or e-mail. The office is set to be open again in the second half of May, until then feel free to contact our collegaues who help guests gladly! MEDIEVAL CASTLE RUINS FROM SMALL ONES TO LARGER ONES OFFERING A FULL-DAY EXPERIENCE If you have already been told about hills, mountains, forests, and great views… starting from Hévíz, many ruins of castles can be discovered during a day trip. The nearest is the ruins of Rezi Castle, located only 10 km away, which is an easy walk from Hévíz. A little further away, on Tátika Hill, there are also the remains of a castle in the middle of the forest. If you set off in the direction of Lake Balaton, you will reach Szigliget in 30 minutes, where not only the ruins of a castle but a complex, interactive medieval knight's castle offer a great program for families. What is more, the castle has been renovated in recent months, so it will reopen on 20th June. You can also take a day trip to Sümeg or Nagyvázsony or you can even climb the ruins of Csobánc Castle. If you are looking for the nearest small castle ruin, you will find it on the Main Square (Fő tér) in Keszthely, in the Castle Garden next to the Church of Our Lady of Hungary. ACTIVE ADVENTURES FOR ADRENALINE ADDICTS If you look for active experiences outdoors, and besides that, come to Hévíz with children, you do not have to go far for a little adventure. Children and adults can test their courage on the ropes course in the Tavirózsa Adventure Park located on the confines of Hévíz. Right next to it, the enthusiasts of racing can compete on a go-kart track. lead: As of the government decree released on 11 November 2020, the following regulations are in order in Hévíz:

tartalom: + 1 Hévíz Lake is closed regular until further notice or government regulation. Medical attendance continues as normal in Saint Andrew Rheumatological Hospital. Accommodations can only accept guests arriving with business purposes. A curfew is in order from 8 pm until 5 am. Masks are not compulsory to wear in outside public places in Hévíz. Restaurants are closed from 11 November 2020 to 11 January 2021. Takeaways and house delivery are possible. The cinema, the library and the museums are closed. The adventure parks and the zoos are closed in the region. The events planned for November and Christmas Markets are canceled. Church services and masses are held, but only every second seat can be taken. Shops can be open only between 5 am and 9 pm. Services (hairdresser, manicure, massage etc.) can be open with keeping the curfew regulations. Personal administration is not available at the government office of Hévíz now. Administration businesses can be done via post or electronic ways. Personal administration is only allowed in such special cases that the law permits. The telephone number of the government office is: +36 83 500 800. The Tourinform Office of Hévíz is open as regular until 13 November. The office will be closed on weekends. From 16 November, personal service is only on Mondays and Fridays from 9 am to 5 pm, on these days bicycle rental is possible as well. From 12 March to 14 March, you will find many interesting programs that let’s us start spring and the season in the city. On 12 March don’t miss the concert of the band Re-Folk. On Sunday, Bernadett Gregor and Attila Csengeri will welcome the audience with their show “Jöjj kedvesem...” (“Come my Love…”). The concerts will take place in the Ball Room of the City Hall, attendance is free of charge, however, pre-registration is necessary. On 14 March we will celebrate our national holiday with a torchlight procession.   EASTER WILL BE FULL OF SURPRISES  We hope April will bring us a typical nice spring weather for our Easter Fair. From 15 April to 18 April the pedestrian street will be full of life and programs. In addition to the stands with wine and crafts, there will be interesting things for all age groups. Bouncy castles, folk games, egg hunts, activities for the little ones, mystical light shows and concerts for the grown-ups. The Zsödi Duó and Lia Siklódi Szabó and the party band HelloKids will ensure the good atmosphere.    AN OLD FAVOURITE WILL COME BACK  We have been waiting for this for a long time and this year we can finally host our traditional program “The Happy Peacetimes of Hévíz” from 30 April to 1 May. This year our dear program will be held for the tenth time. Of course our traditional parade will take place with vintage cars and classic carriages. Photo booths, games, delicious food and drinks stands will be all around the streets filled with Dixie music to ensure the atmosphere. The real highlight, however, will be the concert by the Mystery Gang. As part of the celebrations on May 1st, we will commemorate the proclamation of Hévíz as a city.    EVEN JULY WILL NOT BE BORING  For beer lovers, we recommend our event in July: from 14 July to 17 July, the pedestrian zone will be filled with famous and handcrafted beers. In addition to the drink, of course, the individual snacks that go with the respective beer should not be missing. After some drinks and some food, head towards the stage on Rákóczi Street, where concerts will heat up the atmosphere. More details about the program will be revealed soon, keep an eye out.    AUGUST IS ALL ABOUT WINE  For the summer heat, our crowd favourite Wine and Gastro Promenade will return too. For the program we await lovers of wine and everyone who would like to feel how a big festival feels like in Hévíz. In addition to tasting the most delicious wines, there will be many concerts and programs for children as well. lead: The seasonal organ concerts are returning to Hévíz in April, but before that you are cordially invited to our charity concert on 19 March.

tartalom: + 1 Miklós Teleki, the founder of the Majestic Sounds concert series has already been the guest musician of Hévíz for eight years. He happily agreed to join our charity concert event which is naturally for a good cause: the offerings made at the concert will be entirely donated to the children living in the Subcarpathean area of Ukraine. László Kiss the dean and vicar of Hévíz was also happy to present the Holy Spirit Church as location, and he will also help to deliver the donations to Ukraine through the Catholic Charity Service.   The programme of the special event will be: Bach: Prelude and fugue in B minor Pachelbel: Chaconne in F minor Mozart: Fantasia in F minor Franck: Prelude, Fugue & Variation in B minor Liszt: Prelude and Fugue on B-A-C-H   The concert will start at 7 pm on 19 March in the Holy Spirit Church in Hévíz. The attendance is free of charge, but don't forget to support the good cause!   The seasonal organ concerts will start in the city from 20 April and they will last until mid-October. As per usual, the concerts of Miklós will be held every Wednesday from 8 pm. As in the previous years, may guests will also perform with Miklós like the fan favourite bass opera singer, Kolos Kováts. This year some new guests will be also introduced to the crowd of Hévíz like Ingrid Kertesi (sopran opera singer), Szilárd Hajas (flutist), or Tamás Lozsányi (organist). This year the local Musica Antiqua Band will also join Miklós for the first time!   Be sure to follow along this year's organ concerts as well! On Saturday, an exciting egg hunt will take place, and in the court of the Tourinform Office you can even make a sparkly soap from 3 pm to 5 pm. Of course, we didn’t forget about music either: on Saturday, the Fidelis Brass Band will make sure everyone enjoys the afternoon, then the Ahura Fire Tribe will take our breaths away with their exciting light play. On Sunday, the concert of Zsödi Duó follows and in the evening the HelloKids party band will guarantee the good mood. For detailed programs click here! Exciting programs within an arm’s reach In Keszthely, the Festetics Castle invites you to see its remarkable Northern Wing. Concerts, horse and archery shows will also wait everyone who decides to see the Castle during the weekend. The Georgikon Ranch Museum hosts its season opening event on Easter Monday. Animal petting, folk plays, horse carriages and the traditional Hungarian ’springling’ will wait guests. In Gyenesdiás, the spring festivities starts a week before Easter: on 8 April the market opens its gates again. Not only local wineries were invited to the competition, but many other wineries from different parts of the country. 25 producers from 12 wine regions of Zala and Balaton submitted a total of 50 items for the gastronomic battle. 22 grape varieties - Welsh Riesling, Savignon Blanc, "Ezerjó", Zenit, Patria, "Cserszegi fűszeres" - represented the selection.   The process The wines were judged on 22 April at the NaturMed Hotel Carbona. The items were first judged by a professional jury. The main patron of the event was Ágnes Diána Sárdy PhD, Director of the MATE Buda Campus, Associate Professor. The members of the jury were Barna Szőke PhD, chaired by MATE, Deputy Research Director of the Institute of Viticulture and Enology of Badacsony, Barnabás Kovács PhD, assistant professor of wine, Sándor Viniczai, editor-in-chief of wine booklets, Zsolt Vaszily CEO of Carbona, Tamás Borbély - President of the Badacsony Wine Region, Wine Producer of the Year, owner of the Borbély Family Winery, Winemaker, and last but not least Mrs. Beatrix Sütőné Tüttő was representing the city of Hévíz. The wine was selected with the usual blind tasting. This means that only the type and year were given to the jury members. Well-known Hungarian experts evaluated the wines using an electronic 100-point grading system. During the scoring, in a close competition, 7 lots were finally presented to the social jury, who judged the wines using the same system.     Who became the winner? Cezar Winery Kis Balaton - Savignon Blanc 2021 vintage white wine.   What does the winner get? In addition to wearing the honorary title for a full year, they will have the opportunity to present themselves at the 4-day Wine and Gastro Festival in August. The honorary diplomas accompanying the title will be presented at the jHappy Peace Times on April 30, 2022 from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm.   Where can I taste / buy it? The winning wine is already on the market and has already received its special decorative label.
