lead: We organised the HEVIZIBIVALY Duathlon for the first time this year. Here's what happened on 27 November!

tartalom: + 1 The competition was organised by the Hévíz Tourism Non-profit Ltd., the Balaton Uplands National Park, the Saint Andrew Rheumatological Hospital, the Vadlán Runners and the Vidra Water cruise team. More than 30 additional volunteers took part in the event. A special competition The goal of the organizers was to create a new sport competition that is also unique nationwide. They not only paired two completely different sports (rowing and running) as a duathlon but they have also chosen a very special venue. The Hévíz stream leads away the warm running water of Lake Hévíz, so despite the winter weather, you can row on a pleasantly warm, steaming stream. The date of the competition was also predetermined by the conditions of the location, as rowing on the Hévíz stream is only possible from November to March. As the stream belongs to the local national park, canoeing is strictly forbidden outside the given period since it would disturb the flora and fauna especially in the breeding season in summer. So it is no coincidence that the late autumn date has been chosen. The aim of the organizer, the Hévíz Tourism Non-profit Ltd. was also to draw attention to the importance of exercise, active recreation in nature and a healthy lifestyle. They wanted to prove that Hévíz is not only a paradise for lovers of healing and wellness, but it can also offer many values ​​and opportunities for athletes at any time of the year. The competition itself 83 starting teams, a total of 146 competitors arrived at the water-gate of the Hévíz stream to get into the water by canoe, kayak or SUP, and to make their way to Fenékpuszta which is about 10 kilometres away. Participants were able to bring their own watercrafts but those who didn’t have their own were also able to rent a canoe on the spot. After completing the 10-kilometre water distance, the participants were able to leave the boats at the transfer point and change their water vehicle for running shoes. After this their task was to run back on the same route on the embankment next to the Hévíz stream to finally reach the finish line at the beach of Lake Hévíz. The race has started on November 27 at 9 am, when the first canoe on the Hévíz stream in the direction of Fenékpuszta set off. The participants started the competition periodically, a new canoe set sail in almost every second minute. The last runner arrived back at the Hévíz Lake Bath beach area at 3 pm. All participants received the HEVIZIBIVALY Duathlon medal. THE PARTICIPANTS OF THE FIRST DUATLON Pre-registration for the competition was open until November 19th. In the morning of November 27, 83 competitors finally set out to complete the approximately 21-kilometer distance, including rowing and then running. All together 48 two or three-member teams and 35 individual participants (28 men, 7 women) set off. We welcomed ultra-runners, kayakers and amateur athletes among the competitors. No one gave up the race, all starters covered the distance without accident, so in the end all 146 competitors received the HEVIZIBIVALY medals. THE FINALISTS TEAMS: BL Team (#49) with a time of 2:10:04. Tamás Kolb and Judit Maléth (#54) with a time result of 2:15:28. Tamás Horváth and Gábor Major (#8), with a time result of 2:15:42. IN THE INDIVIDUAL WOMEN'S CATEGORY Éva Berekalli (#79) with a time result of 2:16:35. Helga Szidónia Kőhalmi (#71) with a time result of 2:18:23. Anita Galliné Szabó (#68) with a time result of 2:26:27. IN THE INDIVIDUAL MEN 'S CATEGORY Álmos Kassai (#84) with a time result of 1:42:16. József Friedrich (#89) with a time result of 1:52:58. Zoltán Csécsei (#92) with a time result of 1:55:42. A special award was given to the fastest SUP competitor Kornél Kazai. The success of the competition and the sincere enthusiasm of the competitors confirmed the organizers to organise the HEVIZIBIVALY Duathlon competition again and again every year during the winter, if they can. We want more and more people to prove that they do have the buffalo power too! We truly hope that every participant has enjoyed the race! See you next year as well! And lastly…   Why the competition is called ‘HEVIZIBIVALY’ 'HEVIZIBIVALY' means 'buffalo from Hévíz' in Hungarian. Barely 50 years ago, water buffaloes were trampled along the bed of the Hévíz stream several times a year. The buffalos were driven here from the area to walk up and down in the creek bed. As the bed of the stream was always full of plants, the buffalos trampling down the plants ensured that the water flowed continuously and evenly in the direction of Lake Balaton. Buffaloes still live in several places in the area today, but they no longer have the task of cleaning the creek bed.   This year our competitors have proven that they have the power of a buffalo. Each day of the Easter Festival the visitors awaitwith fairs, playhouses and traditional food, of course.         30 April -1 May | Hévíz at the Turn of the Century The event, which was started in 2011, evokes the ‘golden years’ of Hévíz, a period that lasted from the 1860s to the 1930s. The town tries to recall the atmosphere of the palmy days of peace in every possible way during the event: organ-grinders wearing tails and top hat play music in the streets, ladies dressed in hoop skirt and hat walk in the flowering park leading to the thermal lake. The event will be opened by a costume parade accompanied with live music and dance, in the course of which the professions and trades of the period will be presented.   9-10 May | 5th Running Festival of Hévíz The runners who manage to run 4-14-21 km will not only get to experience a well-organised event but they also will be gifted T-Shirts, medals and an unforgettable experience! The half marathon can be done individually or in a relay.         11 May | Giro d'Italia in Hévíz One of the world's most famous bicycle races comes to Hungary! As part of the three-day-event, the race goes through Hévíz on 11 May. You can have a taste from the dishes and drinks of the period.       30 May - 1 June | Pentecostal Merriment and Fair During the four-day Pentecostal celebrations, we await the visitors of Hévíz with joyful programmes and activities. Lotus Retro Concours D'Elegance At the Lotus Retro Mobil Concours d'Elegance, precious and exotic collectibles from Hungary, Austria and Germany find their way to Hévíz. The parish feast is held in her honour on Mary Magdalene’s Day every year. The event starts off with the traditional harvest parade and continues with the harvest. Taste delicious wines with traditional music playing in the background.         26-27 September | Fair of Handmade Goods We await you with a weekend filled with local handmade crafts in September too!           7-8 November | St. Martin’s Day and Family Festival The popular goose race kicks off the St. Martin’s Day Family Festival every year. In addition to children’s programmes, handcraft workshops and folk playground await visitors. The new wine will be blessed in the Holy Spirit Church. It will be followed by a lamp-lit march from the church to the location of the festival. Hévíz Buffalo Duathlon The spring season was opened by the Hévíz Buffalo Duathlon competition on March 2nd in Hévíz, with more than 220 enthusiastic participants who rowed 10 kilometers on the Hévíz stream and then ran back to Hévíz on the shores of the world-famous spa lake to receive their finishing medals.   March 29 – April 1. The celebratory mass of the Holy Spirit Roman Catholic Church and the Easter procession will take place on Saturday at 19:30.    April 5-6. Wind chaser  The organizers welcome young and old to the museum garden in Egregy. As part of the Wind Chaser program, you can count on creative and outdoor playful programs such as making pinwheels and flying paper kites. April 26-27. XII. Happy Peacetimes of Hévíz The Happy Peacetimes event in Hévíz, which closes April, cannot be missed this year either. On Friday we are tuning in to the event at the music pavilion on Schulhof Vilmos promenade.  May 17-20. Pentecost Picnic Visitors to Hévíz will not be without programs during the long Pentecost weekend. On Friday evening, from 7:00 p.m., the first Moonlight Bath of the year will be held in the Hévíz Lake Bath, which is also special, as such an event only takes place twice a year in Hévíz. On the weekend, guests are not only welcomed in Hévíz with musical programs and a flea market, but there will be another Super Hero program for families. May 26. VI. Intersport Hévíz Run The final chord of the spring programs is another sporty family day. For the 6th time this year, you can participate in the Hévíz Running Festival, where all members of the family can choose between different distances, individual and team categories. The programs are typically followed by great interest in the city, and the day full of competitions will end with a big concert.   SUMMER Fewer festivals can be expected in the summer, but our guests will not be left without programs. On Festetics Square and at the Musicpavilon, small concerts will entertain guests every week, and you can count on many smaller programs organized by service providers. June 21. Carry on the light! HelloHévíz Association welcomes participants to the traditional St. Midsummer's Eve program again this year. The torchlight parade is interspersed with musical programs, which will take place partly in the city center and partly in Egregy. July 11-14. Beer Promenade In July, beer and a bit of a retro atmosphere will once again play a central role in the city center. The selection of the tasty beer houses will be colored by beer skates, while the good atmosphere will be ensured by the following performers: DR BRS & Giccsparty, Sipos F. Tamás, Viktor Király, DJ SOMX, Kefir, Irish folk musicians and dancers, tango accordion band, Fáni Németh and his band, Auth Csilla, Fantasy Orchestra. In the afternoons, children are entertained by playhouses, crafts and children's shows. August 16-20. Hévíz Wine and Gastronomy festival Children's programs, fine wines, a good atmosphere and a diverse range of concerts await you at the Hévíz wine festival. Expected performers: The Biebers, Dér Heni, István Bősárkányi Társulat's adaptation of the king, Szalonna and his band, Happy Dixieland Band, Bácska Tambura band and Beatles memorial band - The organizers reserve the right to change the program! Moonlight bath on Lake Hévíz The second and last moonlight bath of the year will be held in the Hévíz Tófürdő on what we hope will be a pleasantly warm Friday evening, September 13. tartalom: + 1 There have been many meetings between Hungarian and Italian organizers over the past few weeks. Eventually, the Hungarian organizing committee has requested that the event be held at a different time, bearing in mind the health and safety of the Hungarian people. Accordingly, the Grande Partenza, the opening event of Giro d'Italia in Hungary, scheduled for 9th-11th May 2020, has been postponed. At one of the biggest cycling races in Europe, a stage finale has been planned in Hévíz, which is of special interest. The town prepared for this with numerous events and fan programs, which are also going to be postponed. The new date of the competition has not been known yet but Hévíz is still ready to host the event and will join the bicycle race with the originally planned accompanying events later.

tartalom: + 1 This year's event will take place immediately after St. Martin's Day, on the weekend from November 12th to 14th. This means that besides the young wine goose will also enrich the menu offerings this year.   Main ingredient: Aszófőer Welschriesling from the Fodorvin winery The title “Wine of the City of Hévíz 2021” went to the 2020 Aszófőer Welschriesling from the Fodorvin winery. The competition took place on July 7 in the restaurant of the Hotel Spa Hévíz with the participation of an expert jury. Our jury was not mistaking, since they truly got the best: the Aszófőer Welschriesling by Fodorvin was again selected as the winner of the Italian Riesling category at the Parliament's Wine Chest in October  2021 from among 218 wines. The family cellar of the Fodorvin winery was built in 1858 in Aszófő, in the Vörösmáli vineyard, where they currently manage 9 hectares as a family business. The reductively produced wine has a pronounced greenish-yellow color, and its aroma is dominated by citric and vegetable notes. The full taste is complemented by a pleasant acidity. It can currently also be purchased in the Hévíz Tourinform office with the label “Wine of the City of Hévíz 2021”.   Exceptional menus and courses In mid-November, the restaurants in Hévíz will prepare more than just special dishes with the winning wine. These delicacies in the Platán restaurant will include, for example, the foie gras ragout with forest mushrooms and Aszófőer Welschriesling on a crispy yeast plait, as well as the crispy leg of goose with sage and rosemary potatoes and apple slices braised in Hévíz city wine. In the NaturMed Hotel Carbona's buffet menu - which is not only open to hotel guests - you can try, for example, a sauerkraut soup with smoked meat, dill and Aszófőer Welschriesling. There will also be a goose stomach ragout with a creamy mushroom sauce, which has been perfumed with Aszófőer Welschriesling. On the afternoon begins the masquerade parade, the burning of a straw figure to drive the cold and you can buy from the famous carnival doughnut.      19th-22nd April | Easter Fair of Handmade Goods The season starts with diverse programs in which you can get to how a typical Hungarian Easter is celebrated. Each day of the Easter Festival the visitors awaitwith fairs, playhouses and traditional food, of course.       1st-5th May | Hévíz at the Turn of the Century The event, which was started in 2011, evokes the ‘golden years’ of Hévíz, a period that lasted from the 1860s to the 1930s. The town tries to recall the atmosphere of the palmy days of peace in every possible way during the event: organ-grinders wearing tails and top hat play music in the streets, ladies dressed in hoop skirt and hat walk in the flowering park leading to the thermal lake. The event will be opened by a costume parade accompanied with live music and dance, in the course of which the professions and trades of the period will be presented.   11st May | Flavius Day In Egregy (a district of Hévíz) next to the remains of the Roman villa, in a beautiful landscaped area, we recall the traditions of Roman times: gladiator fights, toga parades, ancient oracles, the fashion and hairstyle, as well as ancient board games. You can have a taste from the dishes and drinks of the period.     19th May | 4th Running Festival of Hévíz The runners who manage to run 4-14-21 km will not only get to experience a well-organised event but they also will be gifted T-Shirts, medals and an unforgettable experience! The half marathon can be done individually or in a relay.       5th-8th June | Pentecostal Merriment and Fair During the four-day Pentecostal celebrations, we await the visitors of Hévíz with joyful programmes and activities. The tradition of electing the king and queen of Pentecost will also be evoked. During the festivities, don’t miss the Pentecostal fair and playhouse either.       16th June | XIV. Lotus RetroConcours D'Elegance At the Lotus Retro Mobil Concours d'Elegance, precious and exotic collectibles from Hungary, Austria and Germany find their way to Hévíz. The parish feast is held in her honour on Mary Magdalene’s Day every year. Real festive atmosphere with arts and crafts fair, carousel, shooting gallery and excellent culinary offers are provided for the visitors.     3rd-4th August | Nostalgia Weekend At the nostalgia weekend, the centre of Hévíz will be filled with chamber ensembles, pianists recalling the atmosphere of old cafés, while couples are dancing the waltz all around. The visitors of the programmes can enjoy nostalgic melodies by candlelight at the terraces of coffee shops and restaurants.       10th-11th August | Fair of Handmade Goods This weekend, Hévíz is hosting a fair full with handmade crafts made by local craftsmen and women.         16th-20th August | 8th Wine Festival of Hévíz At the 8th wine festival of Hévíz, we await our guests with a cultural and culinary offer unique in the region. Taste delicious wines with traditional music playing in the background.         21st-22nd September | Fair of Handmade Goods We await you with a weekend filled with local handmade crafts in September too!           9th-10th November | St. Martin’s Day and Family Festival The popular goose race kicks off the St. Martin’s Day Family Festival every year. In addition to children’s programmes, handcraft workshops and folk playground await visitors. The new wine will be blessed in the Holy Spirit Church. It will be followed by a lamp-lit march from the church to the location of the festival. tartalom: + 1 11-19 February Kissing benches in Hévíz Organized by the Hello Hévíz - Hévíz Entrepreneurs Association, cozy benches, bridges and gates awaited the romantic guests in Hévíz for the 3rd time in the middle of February. The "kissing benches" set up in many parts of the city not only put passers-by in a romantic mood, but those who submitted their photos could also participate in a nice game. 18 February Women's Carnival The vendors of the Hévíz Farmers' Market organized the first Women's Carnival in 2023 with the goal of creating tradition. At the cozy event, fun, fun and delicious carnival snacks played a leading role, much to the delight of the participants and market visitors.  7-10 April Easter fair Traditionally connected to the Easter festivities, the organizers welcome visitors to Hévíz with a craft fair, an egg hunt game, children's programs and atmospheric concerts. The programs expected during the four-day weekend: flea market, games, family movie afternoon at the Fontana Cinema, brass bands, early evening retro disco, wooden toy park. 29 April - 1 May Happy Peacetimes in Hévíz and City Day The 11th Happy Peace Times Hévíz costume parade will be organized on Saturday afternoon, 29 April. The crowd, dressed in period clothes, will start from the City Hall and walk down the park to Festetics Square, where the groups will finally present themselves on the Rákóczi Street stage. The parade is led by the Happy Dixieland Band and dancers again this year. After the spectacular parade, you can take photos together at selfie points in the city center. More concerts are expected in the evening, but even on Sunday, various bands will entertain the guests of Hévíz. 1 May is traditionally the day of the city, when the honorary titles of the city of Hévíz are awarded. Throughout the three-day long weekend, artisans, wineries and gastro stands await visitors in Rákóczi Street. On Sunday, you can even expect a cozy lakeside picnic. 14 May Running race After a 3-year break, young and old alike can re-enroll and support the Hévíz Running Festival. The running competition is organized by the Hévíz sports association for several distances and age groups. You can find the entry fees, distances and route on the event page, where the information is constantly updated. 19 May Moonlight bath on Lake Hévíz This year, the Hévíz Lake team organizes two late-night bathing sessions in Lake Hévíz, once in the spring and once in the fall. This year, for the first time in mid-May, you can enjoy the atmosphere of a really fast-paced concert while swimming in the warm water of the thermal lake. The evening will be opened by the best-known ABBA hits, followed by a retro disco. 28-29 May Pentecost Superhero program For the third time, the Hello Hévíz - Hévíz Entrepreneurs Association organizes the Pentecost superhero family program. Many challenges, multiple locations, funny and fun trials throughout the city. Thus, we await guests with family-friendly programs even during the long weekend of Pentecost. 23 June Midsummers Eve's program On the occasion of Midsummers Eve's programs are expected in Hévíz on June 23. This year, the local entrepreneurs are also organizing a torchlight parade and an atmospheric, musical program in Egregy, in the museum garden. 13-16 July BEER promenade in Hévíz In whatever form you like it, come to us on the second weekend of July and celebrate with us the traditional drink, beer, also known as "liquid bread" for an entire weekend.In addition to beer, of course there is also a place for the delicious dishes that go with them, and days do not go by without good music. We also thought of the smallest members of the family, while the adults indulge their taste buds, the children can have fun too. What's more, if you feel like it, you can visit the handicraft exhibition yard on Saturday, where you can see up close how the masters make their works. 4-6 August Blanket festival (EKF2023 program/eco-festival in Egregy) The program takes place in Hévíz within the framework of the EKF 2023 Veszprém-Balaton event series. We warmly welcome everyone to a festival with a family atmosphere, where there will be interactive sessions and workshops during the day, and thematic programs in the evening. Among them are star-studded nature film screenings and unplugged concerts. Picnic atmosphere and eco-conscious performances, at an old-new venue in Hévíz. In Rákóczi Street, many local and invited wine houses, roast stalls and artisans will be selling their wares. Similar to previous occasions like this, there will be live music, a retro disco atmosphere, night bathing, delicious snacks and refreshing drinks in the Hévíz Tófürdő. 16-17 October Chestnut festival Organized by the Tavirózsa Adventure Park, you will be able to learn everything about the chestnut again this year. From the care of saplings to the processing of sweet and wild chestnuts, many interesting things will be revealed at the autumn event, which of course will not leave children and food lovers without a program. On New Year's Eve, a street party will of course await guests visiting Hévíz. Between June and October, within the framework of the 2023 Veszprém-Balaton European Capital of Culture program several smaller events (micro-concerts, informative lectures, children's performances) are held in the Véderdő in Hévíz under the title Forest Mystery or Game in the Green. They have experienced difficult situations, from wars to natural disasters, for which reason they have been prepared for almost everything. Based on many years of experience, every effort is being made to mitigate the risk of the epidemic, while keeping the safety of our guests and those living and working in Hévíz fully in mind. “At the same time, we cannot forget the guests who are still in Hévíz, as, Hévíz being a health resort, many guests stay here for a longer time to take treatments for their locomotive disorders and complaints. Under normal circumstances, accommodation, hospitality and catering facilities give priority to meeting high hygiene standards, for which they are now even more prepared. Additional hand sanitizers have been deployed in community spaces, the cleaning and disinfecting activities have been multiplied, cutlery disinfection rules have been tightened, and, if required, the chlorine content of swimming pool waters has been increased according to NFCSO (National Food Chain Safety Office) guidelines. Safety depends on all of us, let’s take care of each other!” In compliance with nationwide emergency regulations, the following precautions and restrictions have been implemented in the town to this day (Monday, March 16, 2020, at 2 p.m.): With the introduction of a limitation on the number of people in the lake, a maximum of 450 people can stay in the bath, which can safely receive this amount of traffic as an outdoor bath. The 103rd Giro d'Italia starts in Hungary with the 9.5 km long individual time trial through Budapest on 9 May, 2020. The last sprint section of stage 3 runs through the middle of Hévíz (11.05.20) including the main street of the popular spa and wellness resort.
