cím: From Textile Sea to Tiny Bikini! The Evolution of Swimwear at the Turn of the 20th Century

lead: + 3 When seaside vacations became fashionable in the second half of the 19th century, not only the etiquette but also the attire of bathing was strictly regulated. Wearing a swimsuit meant covering up, not showing off. Yet over the following decades, the baggy skirts disappeared, and swimsuits slowly started to resemble what we know today.

tartalom: + 1 Since when do we go to the beach to "swim and sunbathe"? Bathing became a trend in Europe—especially in England and France—from the mid-19th century. Brighton, Biarritz, Scheveningen: these places saw the birth of the first “bathing fashions.” Although trends didn’t spread nearly as fast as they do today via Insta posts and social media, Hungary wasn’t far behind the Western bathing culture. The first bathing house on Lake Balaton opened in 1864 in Keszthely (for men), followed by similar structures in Balatonfüred and Siófok. These were more like changing cabins built onto piers, with separate facilities for men and women. Entering the water was guided more by etiquette and medical advice than by fun. We can proudly say that therapeutic spas like Hévíz introduced bath cabins much earlier, especially upon medical recommendation. In Hévíz, the first bathhouse on stilts was already built in 1795—meaning that bathers came to Lake Hévíz even before Lake Balaton became popular.   Long Skirts and Puffy Trousers But back to our main topic—what did our predecessors actually consider "swimwear"? Primarily, it was an outfit designed for walking along the beach. Going into the water or sunbathing was out of the question. The seashore was mainly recommended for the benefit of salty sea air. The beach attire covered nearly every part of the body, and parasols were a must-have for ladies, as tanned skin was not appropriate in aristocratic and bourgeois circles. Simply put, it was considered too “common.” Some, of course, couldn’t resist the temptation of the water. For them, swimming wasn’t even an option—they were lucky if they didn’t get too wet in their "bathing" outfits, which looked something like this: Long skirt – down to the ankles, to hide the legs Baggy trousers underneath – for modesty Waist belt or drawstring – to keep the dress in place in the water Long-sleeved blouse – often with a collar Hat or head covering – to protect from the sun Materials: flannel, linen, or thick wool. These fabrics held their shape well when dry—but became extremely heavy when wet! Light colors were typically chosen, since the many layers already made the outfits warm enough—dark colors would’ve made things even worse.   Subtle Modernization, or the Era When Calves No Longer Had to Be Hidden By the end of the 19th century, expectations began to change. As more people ventured into the water, skirts became shorter—now only just below the knees—so the trousers underneath also became shorter and less baggy. Eventually, separate skirts and blouses were replaced by a single-piece tunic-style garment for simplicity and safety. The new swimwear often featured large collars and sailor-style motifs. Colors were mostly navy blue or black, often with stripes. The darker colors helped ensure the thinner garments remained opaque when wet. In the 1910s–1920s, swimsuits began shrinking rapidly Starting in the 1910s, swimming gained popularity—especially among women. Swimwear fashion followed this shift toward practicality, led by figures like Australian swimming champion and actress Annette Kellerman. In 1907, she was even arrested in the U.S. for wearing a one-piece, body-hugging swimsuit. That event only added fuel to the fire, accelerating the modern transformation of swimwear, which coincided with the rise of women’s emancipation. Sleeveless tops appeared almost out of nowhere (even in casual wear), and swimsuits were sometimes one-piece, sometimes two-piece. Trousers were shortened to mid-thigh, and eventually to much shorter lengths. The resulting scandal led to enforced swimsuit regulations, including mandatory length measurements—sometimes checked with tape measures! Wool still dominated in materials, but now with thinner weaves. Large hats were replaced by headscarves or swim caps, not for sun protection but to keep hair in place. Still, the suits remained heavy (and dark), especially when wet.   Elastic Fabric Revolutionizes Swimwear in the 1920s–30s This change wasn’t driven primarily by new attitudes, but by a new invention: Lastex, a rubber-threaded textile. Thanks to this material, swimsuits in the 1920s became form-fitting. Skirts disappeared completely, and necklines and backlines grew bolder. The elastic fabric allowed for snug-fitting, stretchy, and—most importantly—fast-drying swimsuits. Less fabric was needed, and color variety exploded on the beaches. Swimwear became not only practical but sexy, too. Film stars of the 1930s—like Jean Harlow or Greta Garbo—graced magazine covers in their swimsuits. Swimwear Fashion at Lake Balaton and in Hévíz Hungarian beach towns like those along Lake Balaton and Hévíz also adopted international swimwear trends. By the late 1920s, women were wearing shorter, one-piece swimsuits, and men wore tank-top-style suits. At Lake Hévíz, the clothing remained more conservative due to its medicinal purpose, but sportier swimsuits also became increasingly popular. What Came Next? After World War II, everything changed. tartalom: + 1   23rd February | Carnival of Hévíz Traditional Pig Slaughter and Charityorganized the community of the Farmers’ Market of Hévíz.The guests will have the chance to taste the previously mentioned traditional food and drinks. On the afternoon begins the masquerade parade, the burning of a straw figure to drive the cold and you can buy from the famous carnival doughnut.      19th-22nd April | Easter Fair of Handmade Goods The season starts with diverse programs in which you can get to how a typical Hungarian Easter is celebrated. Each day of the Easter Festival the visitors awaitwith fairs, playhouses and traditional food, of course.       1st-5th May | Hévíz at the Turn of the Century The event, which was started in 2011, evokes the ‘golden years’ of Hévíz, a period that lasted from the 1860s to the 1930s. The town tries to recall the atmosphere of the palmy days of peace in every possible way during the event: organ-grinders wearing tails and top hat play music in the streets, ladies dressed in hoop skirt and hat walk in the flowering park leading to the thermal lake. The event will be opened by a costume parade accompanied with live music and dance, in the course of which the professions and trades of the period will be presented.   11st May | Flavius Day In Egregy (a district of Hévíz) next to the remains of the Roman villa, in a beautiful landscaped area, we recall the traditions of Roman times: gladiator fights, toga parades, ancient oracles, the fashion and hairstyle, as well as ancient board games. You can have a taste from the dishes and drinks of the period.     19th May | 4th Running Festival of Hévíz The runners who manage to run 4-14-21 km will not only get to experience a well-organised event but they also will be gifted T-Shirts, medals and an unforgettable experience! The half marathon can be done individually or in a relay.       5th-8th June | Pentecostal Merriment and Fair During the four-day Pentecostal celebrations, we await the visitors of Hévíz with joyful programmes and activities. The tradition of electing the king and queen of Pentecost will also be evoked. During the festivities, don’t miss the Pentecostal fair and playhouse either.       16th June | XIV. Lotus RetroConcours D'Elegance At the Lotus Retro Mobil Concours d'Elegance, precious and exotic collectibles from Hungary, Austria and Germany find their way to Hévíz. On Sunday in the large park of the Lotus Therme "high-gloss atmosphere", when the beautiful models of Mercedes, Lotus, Jaguar, Corvette, Cadillac or Porsche can be viewed and evaluated. You can further expect a grill tent, kid’s programs.     21st-23rd June | Angels and Vagabonds All-arts Festival including International Colony of Artists, Cinematic Art Symposium, Street Music and Street Art Festival and the Long Night of Museums Visitors will be offered lively and colourful programmes in the centre of Hévíz during the three-day event. The multiplicity of music (country, pop, dixie, guitar, accordion and brass band music, relaxing music, folk music, as well as jazz and pop), along with showmen, living statues, acrobats, street artists walking on stilts, painters, draughtsmen make the weekend fascinating and unforgettable.   6th-7th July | Flavours, Dances, Good Neighbours including Folklore and World music Festival In the course of this two-day festival, in addition to the wonderful treasure of the Hungarian folk dance, folk music and cuisine, the folk art and gastronomy of the neighbouring countries will also be introduced, as it is referred to in the title.     20th July | St. Mary Magdalene Fair in Egregy The patron saint of the Árpád-age church in Egregy is St. Mary Magdalene. The parish feast is held in her honour on Mary Magdalene’s Day every year. Real festive atmosphere with arts and crafts fair, carousel, shooting gallery and excellent culinary offers are provided for the visitors.     3rd-4th August | Nostalgia Weekend At the nostalgia weekend, the centre of Hévíz will be filled with chamber ensembles, pianists recalling the atmosphere of old cafés, while couples are dancing the waltz all around. The visitors of the programmes can enjoy nostalgic melodies by candlelight at the terraces of coffee shops and restaurants.       10th-11th August | Fair of Handmade Goods This weekend, Hévíz is hosting a fair full with handmade crafts made by local craftsmen and women.         16th-20th August | 8th Wine Festival of Hévíz At the 8th wine festival of Hévíz, we await our guests with a cultural and culinary offer unique in the region. In addition to the wineries of Zala County, the representatives of the prominent Hungarian wine regions will also introduce themselves in the ‘wine street’ of Festetics Square. The lovers of wines can enjoy wonderful drinks under centuries-old sycamore trees in a pleasant atmosphere.   7th September | Harvest of Egregy On the first weekend of September, the traditional harvest festivities is organised in the district of Egregy. The event starts off with the traditional harvest parade and continues with the harvest. Taste delicious wines with traditional music playing in the background.         21st-22nd September | Fair of Handmade Goods We await you with a weekend filled with local handmade crafts in September too!           9th-10th November | St. Martin’s Day and Family Festival The popular goose race kicks off the St. Martin’s Day Family Festival every year. In addition to children’s programmes, handcraft workshops and folk playground await visitors. The new wine will be blessed in the Holy Spirit Church. It will be followed by a lamp-lit march from the church to the location of the festival. cím: Town Hévíz twinkles with Christmas lights!

lead: On friday with the assistance of Santa Claus the most beautiful shop window awards were handed out.

tartalom: + 1 On the occasion of Advent more and more Christmas lights go up also this year in Hévíz. In addition to the festive decorations of public places, service providers also await the visiting guests with more and more beautiful shop windows and decorated houses. The eye-catching Christmas lights, the decorations, which are sometimes traditional, sometimes  romantic and lovely  or in many cases made of using natural materials, the Christmas tree of the town and the Advent wreath together create the Christmas atmosphere of Hévíz.  This Advent, the Hévíz TDM Association also announced a Christmas decoration contest titled „A brilliant idea!”, for which anyone could enter, who felt that he/she offered customers a really gorgeus christmas window display.   The jury took a walk around the town in the afternoon of 4th December in order to rate the shop windows, and announced its rating points in several categories, such as elegance, harmonic appearence, style, use of natural materials, surprising, funny or fabulous ideas. The general public could vote for the service provider who would won the Audience Award based on the pictures shared by the participants on the website www.facebook.com/heviz.info. Awards were given out in a total of 4 categories.  I. Business premises, catering establishments: First prize: Hofbrau Vendéglő (Restaurant) (931/9 Nagyparkoló Square) Second prize: Magyar Csárda(Restaurant) (2 Tavirózsa Street) and Street Fashion clothes shop (2 Széchenyi Street)   II. Private accommodation: First prize: Guszti Villa (18 Széchenyi Street) Second prize: Fortuna Villa (1 Fortuna Street) and Kaktusz Villa (116 Attila Street)   III. Hotel category: First prize: Kolping Hotel **** Spa & Family Resort (120 Fő Street, Alsópáhok) Second prize: Lotus Therme Hotel & Spa***** (1 Lótuszvirág Street)  and NaturMed Hotel Carbona ****superior (1 Attila Street)   Audience Award winner based on the audience's  votes: Lotus Therme Hotel & Spa***** (1 Lótuszvirág Street)   The prizes were made by a local ceramic artist Barakonyi István, and we hope that they will be nice decorations of every winning shop window and building.   The jury chose the Hofbrau Restaurant as the absolute winner of the competition based on the total scores and the overall look. Therefore, besides the first prize the manager of the restaurant Czigány Hedvig  could also receive a challenge cup, for which there hopefully will be a lot of applicants next year.   We would recommend that our guests explore all the small beauties of the town, find the most atmospheric store, restaurant or accommodation, try the ice rink re-opened on 5th December after the bathings in the pleasantly warm water of the lake, visit the arts and crafts Advent market and warm up your heart by tasting a pleasantly scenting punch, tea or mulled wine under the twinkling festive lights.    We wish you a merry Christmas!

tartalom: + 1 Unfortunately nowadays we are exposed to various chemicals and environmental impacts. Mainly our hands suffer the most from these impacts. Paraffin treatment is recommended for the treatment of dry, chapped and stained hands. The treatment starts with a hand wash, which is followed by rubbing. After the removal of the devitalised epidermic cells, the skin absorbs easier the lotion used during hand massage. The next step is dipping the hands in warmed up paraffin, which sticks to the skin and the hands are covered in a plastic bag and gloves. Guest is relaxing for about 20 minutes in the wrap. After that the gloves together with the paraffin are removed. Finally the hands are covered in skin-protection lotion. The treatment does not only treat the skin surface, but the active agents are also absorbed by deeper layers of the skin through the pores thus increasing blood circulation and oxygen supply of the tissues. The word paraffin comes from the composition of the Latin words of parum and affinis. Paraffin may be liquid, gas or solid. In clear format it is solid, odourless, colourless, white material with a waxy touch. Melting point is around 47 to 64 °C.

tartalom: + 1 While I’m still catching my breath, my soul has already arrived. Janett and I run across the wooden bridge from the parking lot, trying to catch the last bit of an immensely beautiful sunset. The flaring red, and rather huge disk of the sun, is just dipping beyond the horizon to the West. A feeling of stillness floods through us, much like the little waves gently lapping against the lake shore in front of us. I take a look at Janett. My dear friend is just the same: After both of us have taken the last photographs, there is nothing left but to enjoy the peace of the moment. … Talking about Hévíz is like talking about the mighty stage of nature that surrounds it. A place where the water buffalo roams. Where the famous, nearby Balaton lake has closed for winter, pulling another lake centre stage: The steaming hot lake of Hévíz. Yes, steam rises as we approach the spa town of Hévíz. “So where exactly are you headed to in Hungary?”, my friend Gaby asks me ahead of my trip. “Oh, Hévíz”, she sighs, visibly pleased: “What a beautiful spot. Ursula and I have been there many times … You will like it for sure!” Travelling to Hévíz from Vienna, about a three hour trip southeast of the Austrian capital all the way into Western Hungary, already exudes a feeling of relaxation. There are no fast lanes or highways in this part of the country, so all you have to do is sit back, relax and enjoy the landscape around you. “You are lucky”, our German driver Volker smiles: “I go to Hévíz at least once a year. So glad we all decided to go on the same dates!” Janett and I have found Volker through a rideshare platform called “BlaBlaCars”, popular in Germany as a perfect alternative to trains, buses or taking your own car. Nice. Hévíz, then. As we arrive by the lake, the setting sun paints the rising pearls of steam with the last bits of colours for the day. “But what the … is this!?”, I gasp, suddenly torn from my slumber in the backseat of Volker’s car. In front of me, dozens of people are swimming in a natural lake obviously pleasant to bath in, despite the outside temperature being close to zero degrees. Mother Nature herself provides the energy for heating the healing sulphur waters. Quite the story: Lake Hévíz, a pleasant 26°C warm, is filled with healing source waters that lie buried about 900 metres below the Earth’s surface  … … framed by flaring fall colours such as these trees, an image that has me travel right back to the beautiful “Indian Summer” in Canada ..! Hévíz is a spa town rich in tradition … … their healing mineral and sulphur waters used throughout various spa & health institutions, and wellness hotels such as the prestigious NaturMed Hotel Carbona here … … a hotel that also offers exciting treatments such as the “Cryo-Sauna”: Janett volunteers to being exposed to -170°C for a very short time, said to stimulate your circulation and give you a boost of energy! Janett … We are waiting for your verdict on your travel blog! That day, I decide to keep my clothes on and only pose for a funny photograph in front of Lake Hévíz! Hévíz, what a discovery. In my memory, I can still feel the healing waters giving my entire skin a healthy, nutritious hug … … every evening, Janett and I are off for an hour or two of spa-stillness at the Kolping family hotel in Hévíz, perfect for both the kids and families as well as the odd “tired-crashing travel blogger” looking to unwind. The entire accommodation area is made up of single bungalows with reed roofs, adding to a familiar feeling of comfort from across the border, in the Austrian Burgenland province. And everyone out here speaks German! For a multi linguist like myself, it is almost a shame I speak no Hungarian whatsoever in return, but hey: Hospitality, appreciation of nature, and the good food & drinks we find here with our new Hungarian friends also speak a language of their own. Check this out. Talking about similarities between Western Hungary and Eastern Austria, one cannot fail to notice the food: Paprika goulash time it is – an all-time favourite on both sides of the border … … where the surrounding park beckons for a stroll (or a sit) … … modern holiday bungalows await … … as well as a chance to dive into the area’s hot mineral water pools each night. Around Hévíz, you will find prairie buffalos next to imperial castles and bustling farmers’ markets. Quite the Hungarian heritage & charm! I love visiting (farmers’) markets. All around the world, they always teach you about an important aspect of the local cultural history. What do people eat? What do they sell? Which “language do they speak”? How is the atmosphere? What is being offered? Who strikes up a bargain? And how? Janett and I decide to take on a feast of rather delicious “Kürtöskálacs”; a kind of sugar-bread-roll that goes perfectly with two glasses of hot, mulled wine. Beautiful second breakfast at Hévíz market. Just a little later, our local insider Krisztina drives us over into neighbouring Keszthely, famous for its imperial palace as well as being right by the shore line of Lake Balaton. Both places are worth returning to in the spring or summer, as we imagine all the green spaces full of flowers, happy vacationists in T-Shirts and us in summer dresses ..! At the same time, it is rather nice walking around without the crowds now .. The following is a list of travel tips on where to go once you are here: Hévíz market: Definitely worth your while … … where we recommend you to try delicious Hungarian sweet bread, and hot wine if you wish. Just about a twenty minutes drive and you will find yourself in front of Lake Balaton, Western Hungary’s famous steppe lake … … the advantage being only few visitors during low season … … same here at Keszthely Palace … … which we are able to visit almost exclusively on our own. Do visit the palace library: A magical spot filled with old books some of which are many centuries old ..! And if you, like us that day, wish to freshen up a little … … consider heading to Télikert Restaurant: Great food, friendly staff & a generous, urban flair here at Lake Balaton. If pure nature is what you prefer … … nature, horses, and romance … … then go visit the local buffalo farm, where you can learn a thing or two about the noble prairie dwellers and appreciate the local landscape around you! lead: The main entrance of the Lake Bath located in the Dr Schulhof Vilmos Promenade closes on the 4th November and it is expected to stay closed until June 2020.

tartalom: + 1 Alexandra Czene, the manager of the Hévíz Lake Bath, told us that the temporary closure of the main entrance of Hévíz Lake Bathis needed due to renovation. The renovation will take at least 6-7 months, so the popular entrance with the cherubs in the Dr Schulhof Vilmos Promenade is expected to reopen in June. The dressing rooms of the main entrance buildingwill be renovated.The dressing rooms will undergo complex renovation work from November, so next summer, a completely refurbished, much nicer and more modern changing-room will be offered forvisitors. During the closing period, the Hévíz Lake Bath will be accessible via the entrance of the Festetics Bathhouse (Ady Endre Street), and the cash desks will continue to operate withthe usual opening hours. The Festetics Bathhouse entrance is accessible by car from Ady Street.Parking is available in the parking lot next to the overfall weir and,driving along Ady Street, in the designated car park, where you can also charge electric cars. On foot or by bicycle from Deák Square (bus station), you can reach the Festetics entrance in about 10 minutes by going along the promenade between the protective forest and Lake Hévíz. Walking along the Dr Schulhof Vilmos Promenade past the main entrance of the Lake Bath, the other entrance can be accessed by following the lake fence; it is about a 3 minutes' walk from the 'cherub' entrance. During the transitional period, visitors will be able to use the dressing rooms of the Festetics Bathhouse and, if necessary, the staff of the Lake Bath will also create temporary dressing rooms at several points of the bath, about which visitorswillbe informed. Despite the renovation work, the Lake Bath is not planning to close or temporarily shut down, so you can expect to be able to enjoy the services of Lake Hévíz in the winter too.However, the spa staff would like to kindly ask for the visitors’ patience and understanding if the operating changing-rooms will be a bit more crowded during the winter, especially in the holiday season. By the time the open-air bath opens in May,hopefully, the cash desks of the main entrance, which now are closing, will be opened partially, or, depending on the number of visitors and the weather, the Deák Square entrance will be opened a little earlier in order to providean easier access to the open-air bath andthe summer changing-rooms. Visitors to the spa will also experience other work around the main entrance, as there will be public utility work in front of the main entrancein the spring, followed by a major promenade renovation, which is expected in the second half of next year.However, these works are not related to the renovation of the changing-room of Lake Bath.

Each day of the Easter Festival the visitors awaitwith fairs, playhouses and traditional food, of course.         30 April -1 May | Hévíz at the Turn of the Century The event, which was started in 2011, evokes the ‘golden years’ of Hévíz, a period that lasted from the 1860s to the 1930s. The town tries to recall the atmosphere of the palmy days of peace in every possible way during the event: organ-grinders wearing tails and top hat play music in the streets, ladies dressed in hoop skirt and hat walk in the flowering park leading to the thermal lake. The event will be opened by a costume parade accompanied with live music and dance, in the course of which the professions and trades of the period will be presented.   9-10 May | 5th Running Festival of Hévíz The runners who manage to run 4-14-21 km will not only get to experience a well-organised event but they also will be gifted T-Shirts, medals and an unforgettable experience! The half marathon can be done individually or in a relay.         11 May | Giro d'Italia in Hévíz One of the world's most famous bicycle races comes to Hungary! As part of the three-day-event, the race goes through Hévíz on 11 May. During the weekend, guests will have the chance to taste the best beers from Hungary and abroad too!       25 July | St. Mary Magdalene Fair in Egregy The patron saint of the Árpád-age church in Egregy is St. Mary Magdalene. The parish feast is held in her honour on Mary Magdalene’s Day every year. Oldtimer Car Festival This year, the festival is organised for the third time, so we make an attempt to break the record of the biggest number of OT license plated participants! The event starts off with the traditional harvest parade and continues with the harvest. Taste delicious wines with traditional music playing in the background.         26-27 September | Fair of Handmade Goods We await you with a weekend filled with local handmade crafts in September too!           7-8 November | St. Martin’s Day and Family Festival The popular goose race kicks off the St. Martin’s Day Family Festival every year. In summer, all ages can be found on the beach from 0 to 110 years old. Although the lake is not a water park with giant slides that is why it is different. It is a small wonder of nature that cannot be imitated and compared to other baths. PARKS, WOODS, PROMENADES, GREEN! GREEN! GREEN! EVERYWHERE! Cycle, walk, hike, move freely! In the protective forests surrounding the lake, on the banks of the Hévíz stream or even on the gently sloping hiking trails of the Keszthely Hills, there are many opportunities to explore the area in the fresh air, listening to the songs of birds. Whether you are planning a light stroll or a more serious hike, you will be able to choose from different routes. The Tourinform Office in Hévíz helps the lovers of nature with free hiking and cycling maps, as well as renting bicycles and Nordic walking poles. Besides, thanks to Bakonyerdő (the company looking after the woods), well-maintained routes, rest areas, educational trails, and lookout towers await families in the Keszthely Hills. The latter ones, by the way, offer a fantastic view of Lake Balaton. MEDIEVAL CASTLE RUINS FROM SMALL ONES TO LARGER ONES OFFERING A FULL-DAY EXPERIENCE If you have already been told about hills, mountains, forests, and great views… starting from Hévíz, many ruins of castles can be discovered during a day trip. The nearest is the ruins of Rezi Castle, located only 10 km away, which is an easy walk from Hévíz. A little further away, on Tátika Hill, there are also the remains of a castle in the middle of the forest. If you set off in the direction of Lake Balaton, you will reach Szigliget in 30 minutes, where not only the ruins of a castle but a complex, interactive medieval knight's castle offer a great program for families. What is more, the castle has been renovated in recent months, so it will reopen on 20th June. You can also take a day trip to Sümeg or Nagyvázsony or you can even climb the ruins of Csobánc Castle. If you are looking for the nearest small castle ruin, you will find it on the Main Square (Fő tér) in Keszthely, in the Castle Garden next to the Church of Our Lady of Hungary. ACTIVE ADVENTURES FOR ADRENALINE ADDICTS If you look for active experiences outdoors, and besides that, come to Hévíz with children, you do not have to go far for a little adventure. Children and adults can test their courage on the ropes course in the Tavirózsa Adventure Park located on the confines of Hévíz. Right next to it, the enthusiasts of racing can compete on a go-kart track. The Dino and Adventure Park in Rezi offers moments of forgetfulness for families with small children and dinosaur fans, while older kids can spend a fun day in the Zobori Adventure Park in Zalaszabar. Those who are over 16 can get black-and-blue marks and memories for life in a paintball fight in Gyenesdiás, or learn to water-ski on the beach of Vonyarcvashegy. Those who aim high can do so by a hot-air balloon, a gyrocopter, a microlighter or can enjoy a pleasure flight, while the lovers of the depth can creep and crawl with a tour guide in the caves of the Keszthely Hills. tartalom: + 1 After the strictly observed security measures, there has been news every day since May that a service provider has reopened their facilities or services in Hévíz. HAPPY PEOPLE ON THE TERRACES OF RESTAURANTS Now you can see people drinking coffee or wine in a fine mood on the terraces and in the indoor rooms of restaurants and cafés. The wine cellars of Egregy and the ice cream parlours have also been opened. You can have a set menu or choose from the a la carte menu, drink some wine in the evening or sit down for a slice of cake, ‘lángos’ (fried dough) or lemonade after bathing in the lake. As usual, the Hévíz Farmers’ Market is open three times a week, where visitors and, of course, buyers can choose from the full range of products again. HOLIDAYMAKERS AT THE ACCOMMODATION FACILITIES On the shores of the pools of the hotels, guests are occupying more and more sunbeds, couples looking for relaxing wellness, fans of fit life, health tourists and families aiming to explore the area have arrived. The playgrounds and children’s pools are already full of laughter. At the buffets, the usual wide selection awaits the visitors, and in the wellness areas, freshly filled adventure pools and pools of medicinal water can be found. In addition to being a unique natural medicinal lake in the world, it is now a clear attraction of Lake Hévíz that on the 4.4 hectares of water surface and in the park and beach surrounding the lake you can enjoy bathing and relaxing in 32-34°C hot water completely without crowdedness. At Whitsun, the changing rooms of the Main Entrance on Dr Schulhof Vilmos Promenade opened. They had been completely renovated during the winter, so they are now more spacious, colourful, and practical. Since 21st May, the indoor pools and relaxation areas can also be used again, so the windy, overcast weather cannot be an obstacle to a pleasant splash in Hévíz. The drinking fountain in the hospital building will be open to the public again. IT IS WORTH BOOKING AN APPOINTMENT FOR A GOOD MASSAGE IN ADVANCE It is worth making an appointment for a massage with wellness service providers again, and the ladies and gentlemen also arrive one after the other at the hairdressers. There is a lot of interest in healthcare service providers again; dentists, opticians and beauty salons are open again. Local stores constantly receive new summer stocks. Due to the pandemic, the wellness section including the saunas and the gym remained closed, however, convenience is guaranteed in the delightful hotel atmosphere. The remarkable restaurant of the hotel and the bar as well waits for the business guests, what is more they can also enjoy the services provided by the Vitalium Health & Beauty & Laser health centrum. The hotel offers 2 business packages, one being the Business Basic package which can be booked from one night with breakfast. The other package is called the Exclusive Working Days which is an all-inclusive offer with drinks provided with your dinner. The Sweet Relaxation program has the massage and the salt cave as well but a plus treatment is also included: pedicure or manicure for two, 1-1 facial treatment, 1 bottle of Lotus champagne and a little chocolate just to make it perfect for the night.
