The Tourinform Office in Hévíz helps the lovers of nature with free hiking and cycling maps, as well as renting bicycles and Nordic walking poles. Besides, thanks to Bakonyerdő (the company looking after the woods), well-maintained routes, rest areas, educational trails, and lookout towers await families in the Keszthely Hills. The latter ones, by the way, offer a fantastic view of Lake Balaton. MEDIEVAL CASTLE RUINS FROM SMALL ONES TO LARGER ONES OFFERING A FULL-DAY EXPERIENCE If you have already been told about hills, mountains, forests, and great views… starting from Hévíz, many ruins of castles can be discovered during a day trip. The nearest is the ruins of Rezi Castle, located only 10 km away, which is an easy walk from Hévíz. A little further away, on Tátika Hill, there are also the remains of a castle in the middle of the forest. If you set off in the direction of Lake Balaton, you will reach Szigliget in 30 minutes, where not only the ruins of a castle but a complex, interactive medieval knight's castle offer a great program for families. What is more, the castle has been renovated in recent months, so it will reopen on 20th June. You can also take a day trip to Sümeg or Nagyvázsony or you can even climb the ruins of Csobánc Castle. If you are looking for the nearest small castle ruin, you will find it on the Main Square (Fő tér) in Keszthely, in the Castle Garden next to the Church of Our Lady of Hungary. ACTIVE ADVENTURES FOR ADRENALINE ADDICTS If you look for active experiences outdoors, and besides that, come to Hévíz with children, you do not have to go far for a little adventure. Children and adults can test their courage on the ropes course in the Tavirózsa Adventure Park located on the confines of Hévíz. Right next to it, the enthusiasts of racing can compete on a go-kart track. The Dino and Adventure Park in Rezi offers moments of forgetfulness for families with small children and dinosaur fans, while older kids can spend a fun day in the Zobori Adventure Park in Zalaszabar. tartalom: + 1 After the strictly observed security measures, there has been news every day since May that a service provider has reopened their facilities or services in Hévíz. HAPPY PEOPLE ON THE TERRACES OF RESTAURANTS Now you can see people drinking coffee or wine in a fine mood on the terraces and in the indoor rooms of restaurants and cafés. The wine cellars of Egregy and the ice cream parlours have also been opened. You can have a set menu or choose from the a la carte menu, drink some wine in the evening or sit down for a slice of cake, ‘lángos’ (fried dough) or lemonade after bathing in the lake. As usual, the Hévíz Farmers’ Market is open three times a week, where visitors and, of course, buyers can choose from the full range of products again. HOLIDAYMAKERS AT THE ACCOMMODATION FACILITIES On the shores of the pools of the hotels, guests are occupying more and more sunbeds, couples looking for relaxing wellness, fans of fit life, health tourists and families aiming to explore the area have arrived. The playgrounds and children’s pools are already full of laughter. At the buffets, the usual wide selection awaits the visitors, and in the wellness areas, freshly filled adventure pools and pools of medicinal water can be found. In addition to being a unique natural medicinal lake in the world, it is now a clear attraction of Lake Hévíz that on the 4.4 hectares of water surface and in the park and beach surrounding the lake you can enjoy bathing and relaxing in 32-34°C hot water completely without crowdedness. At Whitsun, the changing rooms of the Main Entrance on Dr Schulhof Vilmos Promenade opened. They had been completely renovated during the winter, so they are now more spacious, colourful, and practical. Since 21st May, the indoor pools and relaxation areas can also be used again, so the windy, overcast weather cannot be an obstacle to a pleasant splash in Hévíz. The drinking fountain in the hospital building will be open to the public again. IT IS WORTH BOOKING AN APPOINTMENT FOR A GOOD MASSAGE IN ADVANCE It is worth making an appointment for a massage with wellness service providers again, and the ladies and gentlemen also arrive one after the other at the hairdressers. tartalom: + 1 The largest natural and biologically active thermal lake in the world was declared a "Hungarikum" (meaning special things which are unique to Hungary) years ago and was also included in the list of special national values of Hungary. The flora and fauna of Lake Hévíz are unique due to the water temperature, its composition and its special environment. Due to mild water temperature that you can experience all year around, there is a Mediterranean microclimate around Lake Hévíz, which has produced some very rare animal and plant species. These wonders of nature must be consciously and sustainably protected, and it is precisely for this reason that a comprehensive protection project is being implemented, for which 662 million Hungarian Forints are being invested.   THE PARTS OF THE LARGE-SCALE PROJECT In the nature reserve of Lake Hévíz the reduction of invasive alien animal and plant species, and species protection was introduced, the improvement of the tree population in the protection forest in the nature reserve was executed, The biodiversity of the green areas in the Hévíz-Keszthely moor was increased, Improvements to the water level regulation and the water control system - this includes e.g. the locks – were made. The infrastructure that showcases the Hévíz Lake and the Hévíz Stream as a green corridor between the Keszthely Mountains and the Kis-Balaton was developed. SPECTACULAR PROJECT ELEMENTS DELIVERED ON JULY 14th: the 2.2 km long Water Lily educational trail at the thermal lake 15 m high treetop viewpoint A plank path from which the swampy habitat with the newly filled thermal lake can be admired on accessible routes The resting areas, benches and bridges were renewed   CURRENT PROJECTS: But the work is far from over. Many elements of the project are still in the works, and ideas for further improvements came up that would serve the comfort of guests and residents alike. For example, the design of resting and stretching points next to the running routes, family-friendly natural rest areas, additional planting, but also the creation of a wet biotope is a process that takes several years. In addition, walkers with dogs will not be left without developments in the near future, because development plans have also been drawn up that think about them. tartalom: + 1 This year's event will take place immediately after St. Martin's Day, on the weekend from November 12th to 14th. This means that besides the young wine goose will also enrich the menu offerings this year.   Main ingredient: Aszófőer Welschriesling from the Fodorvin winery The title “Wine of the City of Hévíz 2021” went to the 2020 Aszófőer Welschriesling from the Fodorvin winery. The competition took place on July 7 in the restaurant of the Hotel Spa Hévíz with the participation of an expert jury. Our jury was not mistaking, since they truly got the best: the Aszófőer Welschriesling by Fodorvin was again selected as the winner of the Italian Riesling category at the Parliament's Wine Chest in October  2021 from among 218 wines. The family cellar of the Fodorvin winery was built in 1858 in Aszófő, in the Vörösmáli vineyard, where they currently manage 9 hectares as a family business. The reductively produced wine has a pronounced greenish-yellow color, and its aroma is dominated by citric and vegetable notes. The full taste is complemented by a pleasant acidity. It can currently also be purchased in the Hévíz Tourinform office with the label “Wine of the City of Hévíz 2021”.   Exceptional menus and courses In mid-November, the restaurants in Hévíz will prepare more than just special dishes with the winning wine. These delicacies in the Platán restaurant will include, for example, the foie gras ragout with forest mushrooms and Aszófőer Welschriesling on a crispy yeast plait, as well as the crispy leg of goose with sage and rosemary potatoes and apple slices braised in Hévíz city wine. In the NaturMed Hotel Carbona's buffet menu - which is not only open to hotel guests - you can try, for example, a sauerkraut soup with smoked meat, dill and Aszófőer Welschriesling. There will also be a goose stomach ragout with a creamy mushroom sauce, which has been perfumed with Aszófőer Welschriesling. tartalom: + 1 We gathered the programs that await you at the end of the year in Hévíz.   The Lights of Advent in the City and Celebration at the Farmer's Market of Hévíz The inner city of Hévíz is filled with lights of Advent in December. A Christmas tree, a Betlehem and an Advent Wreath is placed at the Festetics Square. A candle is lit on each Sunday on the Advent Wreath. The promenade will be filled with wooden houses, atmospheric music and enticing smells. A fair of handmade products and children programs will wait everyone at Moll Square. On the Farmers' Market there will be special gastronomy programs on each Saturday morning. On 30 December, a Pig Slaughter will be held at the Farmer's Market of Hévíz. On the 31 December a New Year's Eve party will be taken place in the tent with concerts and street festival.     Holiday concerts and the best performers at the hotels of Hévíz If you decide to stay one of the hotels in Hévíz during the holiday season, many program wil guarantee your entertainment. During the day, you may enjoy the relaxing wellness sections of the hotels, while in the evening the finest dishes and the best performers will make sure you enjoy your stay. In NaturMed Hotel Carbona, guests can enjoy the piano play on each weekend of  the Advent. From 24 December each new day will bring about a new program as well: goulash party, Dynamic Band in the ball room, ham and champagne tasting, sauna seances and gingerbread decorating will await the guests. Éva Csepregi, Viki Singh, Bálint Gájer, the Bon-Bon band and a samba show will entertain guests in the holiday season.     The team of Hotel Európa fit also made sure that hotel guests would have the best time during there stay during the holidays. Between 24 December and 31 December music programs will be held each day. Bettina Bódis, Endre Varga, the Happy Dixieland Band, the Silver Duo, Miki Varga and his band will also perform. The guest performers of the New Year's Eve party will be Veca Janicsák and the Ritmo Conga Show. If you decide to come with your whole family, children animations and programs will be held each day for the smallest ones. The Korona Restaurant makes a thematic New Year's Eve party each year. This year a Moulin Rogue inspired party will await guests, so it is better to make a table reservation now if you want to make sure to enjoy one of the best parties in the city. French music, period dresses, French dishes and drinks will make sure to make you feel like you are in Paris. Make sure to arrive in an appropriate dress or suit.     One of the best destination for the holidays, especially if you are arriving with your kids is the Kolping Hotel & Spa Family Resort in Alsópáhok. As in previous years, a rich program will be presented for children and for parents as well. There will be program almost each day: tales, music, and of course fun will wait everyone. tartalom: + 1 On 30 December, you will be able to take part in an authentic pork slaughter from 10 am to 4 pm at the Hévíz Farmers' Market. Of course no animals will be harmed, but you can see the live demonstration of sausage stuffing, roasting beef, cabbage cooking, and you can taste them all as well. On 31 December, the program will begin in the tent set up in the Market Square from 1 pm. First, the little ones can party at the Magic Sounds playhouse, which is followed by a presentation of local products: tips and ideas directly from the producers. In the tent DJ Krezi's play from 9 pm in the to 2 pm but in the meanwhile surprise performances will be by Attila Hertelendy and Zsuzsanna Debrei at 10 pm, the Desperado band will arrive at 11 pm, and the Unique band will start at 12:30 am.   Korona Restaurant (Hévíz, Széchenyi str. 43.) The Korona Restaurant will be making a super New Year's theme this year as usual. The atmosphere of the Moulin Rouge will come alive for one night only for those who book a table here. lead: As of the government decree released on 11 November 2020, the following regulations are in order in Hévíz:

tartalom: + 1 Hévíz Lake is closed regular until further notice or government regulation. Medical attendance continues as normal in Saint Andrew Rheumatological Hospital. Accommodations can only accept guests arriving with business purposes. A curfew is in order from 8 pm until 5 am. Masks are not compulsory to wear in outside public places in Hévíz. Restaurants are closed from 11 November 2020 to 11 January 2021. Takeaways and house delivery are possible. The cinema, the library and the museums are closed. The adventure parks and the zoos are closed in the region. The events planned for November and Christmas Markets are canceled. Church services and masses are held, but only every second seat can be taken. Shops can be open only between 5 am and 9 pm. Services (hairdresser, manicure, massage etc.) can be open with keeping the curfew regulations. Personal administration is not available at the government office of Hévíz now. Administration businesses can be done via post or electronic ways. Personal administration is only allowed in such special cases that the law permits. The telephone number of the government office is: +36 83 500 800. The Tourinform Office of Hévíz is open as regular until 13 November. The office will be closed on weekends. From 16 November, personal service is only on Mondays and Fridays from 9 am to 5 pm, on these days bicycle rental is possible as well. tartalom: + 1 The barristers have returned to the Great Parking Place but also the parking lot by the Water Tower got new barristers. In the previously mentioned parking lots the way of parking and paying your parking tickets have changed, while at the other parking places in the city you can pay by the traditional way.   The specialty of the new, improved parking lots is that you can park without a parking ticket and the system is also able to record your license plate. The new system makes parking much easier since you do not need to worry about purchasing your tickets, you can just simply drive in and pay after you finished with parking. It is important to notice though that once you have driven in, you still have 15 minutes to leave the parking lots without paying.   Parking without parking tickets? Even though you don't need to place a parking ticket to your windshield, you still need to pay for your parking, but only when you are actually about to finish parking. Several terminals are placed out the parking lots where you can pay (in the Great Parking Place 3 while at the Water Tower only 1 terminal is available so far). At the terminals, you simply just need to type in your license plate number and also the number of the parking place where you parked you car (the parking place numbers are visible on the surface of the concrete e.g. P115 etc.). You can pay by cash or by credit card as well. After paying, you have 10 minutes to leave the parking lot.   Make it even more simpler To make parking even more easy, a mobile app was also create which is available for iOS and for Android systems as well. tartalom: + 1 Interactive concert by Re-Folk Band Show By Bernadett Gregor and Attila Csengeri Easter Fair Happy Peacetimes of Hévíz Beer Promenade Wine & Gastro Promenade    THE FIRST FESTIVAL OF THE YEAR  We await our guests in mid-March with quality programs. From 12 March to 14 March, you will find many interesting programs that let’s us start spring and the season in the city. On 12 March don’t miss the concert of the band Re-Folk. On Sunday, Bernadett Gregor and Attila Csengeri will welcome the audience with their show “Jöjj kedvesem...” (“Come my Love…”). The concerts will take place in the Ball Room of the City Hall, attendance is free of charge, however, pre-registration is necessary. On 14 March we will celebrate our national holiday with a torchlight procession.   EASTER WILL BE FULL OF SURPRISES  We hope April will bring us a typical nice spring weather for our Easter Fair. From 15 April to 18 April the pedestrian street will be full of life and programs. In addition to the stands with wine and crafts, there will be interesting things for all age groups. Bouncy castles, folk games, egg hunts, activities for the little ones, mystical light shows and concerts for the grown-ups. The Zsödi Duó and Lia Siklódi Szabó and the party band HelloKids will ensure the good atmosphere.    AN OLD FAVOURITE WILL COME BACK  We have been waiting for this for a long time and this year we can finally host our traditional program “The Happy Peacetimes of Hévíz” from 30 April to 1 May. This year our dear program will be held for the tenth time. Of course our traditional parade will take place with vintage cars and classic carriages. Photo booths, games, delicious food and drinks stands will be all around the streets filled with Dixie music to ensure the atmosphere. The real highlight, however, will be the concert by the Mystery Gang. As part of the celebrations on May 1st, we will commemorate the proclamation of Hévíz as a city.    EVEN JULY WILL NOT BE BORING  For beer lovers, we recommend our event in July: from 14 July to 17 July, the pedestrian zone will be filled with famous and handcrafted beers. In addition to the drink, of course, the individual snacks that go with the respective beer should not be missing. After some drinks and some food, head towards the stage on Rákóczi Street, where concerts will heat up the atmosphere. More details about the program will be revealed soon, keep an eye out.    AUGUST IS ALL ABOUT WINE  For the summer heat, our crowd favourite Wine and Gastro Promenade will return too. For the program we await lovers of wine and everyone who would like to feel how a big festival feels like in Hévíz. In addition to tasting the most delicious wines, there will be many concerts and programs for children as well. tartalom: + 1 Miklós Teleki, the founder of the Majestic Sounds concert series has already been the guest musician of Hévíz for eight years. He happily agreed to join our charity concert event which is naturally for a good cause: the offerings made at the concert will be entirely donated to the children living in the Subcarpathean area of Ukraine. László Kiss the dean and vicar of Hévíz was also happy to present the Holy Spirit Church as location, and he will also help to deliver the donations to Ukraine through the Catholic Charity Service.   The programme of the special event will be: Bach: Prelude and fugue in B minor Pachelbel: Chaconne in F minor Mozart: Fantasia in F minor Franck: Prelude, Fugue & Variation in B minor Liszt: Prelude and Fugue on B-A-C-H   The concert will start at 7 pm on 19 March in the Holy Spirit Church in Hévíz. The attendance is free of charge, but don't forget to support the good cause!   The seasonal organ concerts will start in the city from 20 April and they will last until mid-October. As per usual, the concerts of Miklós will be held every Wednesday from 8 pm. As in the previous years, may guests will also perform with Miklós like the fan favourite bass opera singer, Kolos Kováts. This year some new guests will be also introduced to the crowd of Hévíz like Ingrid Kertesi (sopran opera singer), Szilárd Hajas (flutist), or Tamás Lozsányi (organist).
