tartalom: + 1 Not everybody knows this wonder of the nature. A lake in Hévíz is located just 200 km from Budapest. Is it worth driving by car or buying a cheap flight ticket to visit this place where time goes slowly, and the beauty of nature surprises at every step.   A miraculous lake The lake in Hévíz is the biggest biologically active thermal lake in the world in which you can swim. Its surface reaches 4,4 ha and the water temperature oscillates between 24°C in winter and 36°C in summer. These conditions are very favorable for all year long baths as well as for the cultivation of tropical water lilies. They make the reservoir look like the one from a fairy tale. The cleanness of the lake’s water is an asset. 410 liters of hot water stream from the underground source every second, so it is completely replenished every three days. However, the medicinal properties of the lake are its biggest advantage. They were recognized already by the Romans in the 2 century A.D. One of the legends says that Mother Mary wrung / created a spring in Hévíz by the appealing prayer of a Christian nurse for the health of the Roman emperor, Flavius Theodosius. There is a natural peat at the lake’s bed and the water is rich in mineral elements like calcium, magnesium, sulphur.   Idyllic scenery Hévíz is a charming health resort, inhabited by 5 000 citizens, located only 6 km from the Balaton lake. It is also one of the most beautifully flowered town in Hungary and in May 2016 it was given an Innovation Award in the category of the Innovative Spa and Health Resort Destination by the European Spas Association. Hévíz has been a well-known health resort for 220 years thanks to the biggest thermal lake in Europe. The number of Polish tourists visiting the city still grows and the standard of the lodging conditions are being constantly improved.   A unique leisure A visit in Hévíz does not need to be only for healing or preventive reasons. In spring and summer when the flowers blossom, the weather encourages for long walks. The lake is surrounded by the forest of exotic trees, where you can find evergreen bald cypresses. On the other hand the city is full of nice cafes and restaurants offering local specialties and exquisite wines. Except for the baths in the thermal lake and the traditional therapy, there is a wide offer of spa and wellness services based on the use of the lake’s water available at the high standard hotels. There are saunas, relaxation massages, beauty treatments, as well as healthy and delicious cuisine is served. For many visitors a stay in Hévíz is a motivation for starting a balanced and healthy way of living. An optimal treatment time is 15 days, however if it not possible it is worth relaxing for a shorter time, too.   Other attractions Hévíz and its surroundings are a perfect place for the fans of cycling tours. Local tourist trails lead to ruins of the beautiful castles, as well as to the shore of the Balaton Lake. There are also many offers of the active stay in the region, and the calendar is full of different cultural events in the city throughout all year.

tartalom: + 1 What else could be the main message to everyone this year: LIVE ACTIVELY! STAY FIT! STAY HEALTHY! And the perfect location is Hévíz, where health, health preservation, recreation, and the healing and energies provided by nature have been a part of everyday life for hundreds of years. Most of the shops, restaurants and service providers have already been back to business, the majority of the accommodation establishments have already been open, and some accommodation facilities will welcome guests from the second half of June. Most of the hotels and guesthouses have cosy gardens, parks, outdoor and indoor pools, wellness, and beauty services to make your stay unforgettable. Today, there is nothing to prevent you from taking a perfect summer vacation in the usual quality in Hévíz.
SWIMMING AMONG WATER-LILIES IN THE WORLD'S LARGEST HOT WATER LAKE If you are in Hévíz, you must see Lake Hévíz. And, if it is Lake Hévíz, you can experience the following: bathing, crystal clear hot medicinal water, black mud, waterlilies, small fish, water birds. The rustle of bald cypresses, fresh air and the experience of bathing and relaxing in the park on any day of the year. Surrounded by prestigious, historic buildings, Lake Hévíz is a unique and enticing experience again and again for anyone who has, even once, found pleasure in swimming in 32°C water on a beautiful early-autumn day. In summer, all ages can be found on the beach from 0 to 110 years old. Although the lake is not a water park with giant slides that is why it is different. It is a small wonder of nature that cannot be imitated and compared to other baths. PARKS, WOODS, PROMENADES, GREEN! GREEN! GREEN! EVERYWHERE! Cycle, walk, hike, move freely! In the protective forests surrounding the lake, on the banks of the Hévíz stream or even on the gently sloping hiking trails of the Keszthely Hills, there are many opportunities to explore the area in the fresh air, listening to the songs of birds. Whether you are planning a light stroll or a more serious hike, you will be able to choose from different routes. The Tourinform Office in Hévíz helps the lovers of nature with free hiking and cycling maps, as well as renting bicycles and Nordic walking poles. Besides, thanks to Bakonyerdő (the company looking after the woods), well-maintained routes, rest areas, educational trails, and lookout towers await families in the Keszthely Hills. The latter ones, by the way, offer a fantastic view of Lake Balaton. MEDIEVAL CASTLE RUINS FROM SMALL ONES TO LARGER ONES OFFERING A FULL-DAY EXPERIENCE If you have already been told about hills, mountains, forests, and great views… starting from Hévíz, many ruins of castles can be discovered during a day trip. The nearest is the ruins of Rezi Castle, located only 10 km away, which is an easy walk from Hévíz. A little further away, on Tátika Hill, there are also the remains of a castle in the middle of the forest. If you set off in the direction of Lake Balaton, you will reach Szigliget in 30 minutes, where not only the ruins of a castle but a complex, interactive medieval knight's castle offer a great program for families. What is more, the castle has been renovated in recent months, so it will reopen on 20th June. You can also take a day trip to Sümeg or Nagyvázsony or you can even climb the ruins of Csobánc Castle. If you are looking for the nearest small castle ruin, you will find it on the Main Square (Fő tér) in Keszthely, in the Castle Garden next to the Church of Our Lady of Hungary. ACTIVE ADVENTURES FOR ADRENALINE ADDICTS If you look for active experiences outdoors, and besides that, come to Hévíz with children, you do not have to go far for a little adventure. Children and adults can test their courage on the ropes course in the Tavirózsa Adventure Park located on the confines of Hévíz. Right next to it, the enthusiasts of racing can compete on a go-kart track. The Dino and Adventure Park in Rezi offers moments of forgetfulness for families with small children and dinosaur fans, while older kids can spend a fun day in the Zobori Adventure Park in Zalaszabar. Those who are over 16 can get black-and-blue marks and memories for life in a paintball fight in Gyenesdiás, or learn to water-ski on the beach of Vonyarcvashegy. Those who aim high can do so by a hot-air balloon, a gyrocopter, a microlighter or can enjoy a pleasure flight, while the lovers of the depth can creep and crawl with a tour guide in the caves of the Keszthely Hills. BEFORE OR AFTER THE ADVENTURES YOU HAVE TO EAT SOMETHING DELICIOUS AND FILLING Whether you like international cuisine or traditional Hungarian dishes, high-level gastronomy or the basic flavours of street food, you can choose from more than 50 restaurants in Hévíz, all of which are open throughout the year. The offer is variegated by the Hévíz and Gyenesdiás Farmers' Markets, where three values - local, artisan, and healthy - are added into each delicious product with all heart and soul. And if you want to experience a breezy wine tasting, the row of taverns in Egregy is an unmissable place where the fine wines of County Zala are combined with the view of the Zala landscape. WHAT WE DO NOT WRITE ABOUT IN THIS ARTICLE Roman ruins, medieval churches, the stupa, water mill. Beaches, guided programs, guided sightseeing tours, boat trips, bird banding, Csillagvár (Star castle), museums in Keszthely, the mansion, model railway exhibition. Sports competitions, night tours, camps for children. Places to visit in the Balaton Uplands National Park, Uncle Matula's hut, the unique flora and fauna of Kis-Balaton (Little Balaton), basalt columns. There are so many experiences that await you in all seasons whether you come alone, with your partner or family. Programs not only in nice weather during the summer holiday!  “I like to come to Hévíz because I’ve felt, even the first time, that life in Hévíz is slower but not boring. The streets are not crowded but they are by no means extinct. People are happier, more relaxed, there is time for everything and there are a lot of opportunities, while everything is near at hand that I need in today’s business atmosphere. Quality services, lots of green, fresh air, silence. Here, I only pick up the phone when I want to.” B. Kristóf (Budapest, 2019) [galeria]

tartalom: + 1 The largest natural and biologically active thermal lake in the world was declared a "Hungarikum" (meaning special things which are unique to Hungary) years ago and was also included in the list of special national values of Hungary. The flora and fauna of Lake Hévíz are unique due to the water temperature, its composition and its special environment. Due to mild water temperature that you can experience all year around, there is a Mediterranean microclimate around Lake Hévíz, which has produced some very rare animal and plant species. These wonders of nature must be consciously and sustainably protected, and it is precisely for this reason that a comprehensive protection project is being implemented, for which 662 million Hungarian Forints are being invested.   THE PARTS OF THE LARGE-SCALE PROJECT In the nature reserve of Lake Hévíz the reduction of invasive alien animal and plant species, and species protection was introduced, the improvement of the tree population in the protection forest in the nature reserve was executed, The biodiversity of the green areas in the Hévíz-Keszthely moor was increased, Improvements to the water level regulation and the water control system - this includes e.g. the locks – were made. The infrastructure that showcases the Hévíz Lake and the Hévíz Stream as a green corridor between the Keszthely Mountains and the Kis-Balaton was developed. SPECTACULAR PROJECT ELEMENTS DELIVERED ON JULY 14th: the 2.2 km long Water Lily educational trail at the thermal lake 15 m high treetop viewpoint A plank path from which the swampy habitat with the newly filled thermal lake can be admired on accessible routes The resting areas, benches and bridges were renewed   CURRENT PROJECTS: But the work is far from over. Many elements of the project are still in the works, and ideas for further improvements came up that would serve the comfort of guests and residents alike. For example, the design of resting and stretching points next to the running routes, family-friendly natural rest areas, additional planting, but also the creation of a wet biotope is a process that takes several years. In addition, walkers with dogs will not be left without developments in the near future, because development plans have also been drawn up that think about them. The opening ceremony was followed by a tour of the development area, part of which was the handover of the roofed canopy viewpoint, which is currently in trial operation.   [galeria] More information: Tourinform Office Hévíz 8380 Hévíz, Rákóczi str. 2. +36 83 540 131 heviz@tourinform.hu

tartalom: + 1 Indian waterlilies, mosquitofishes, ides, little grebes, dice snakes, bald cypresses, cyanophytes… Just a few to see how many unique and diverse species live together in the lake, the stream and forest that surrounds them.   The most photographed The Indian waterlily which is indigenous in Bengal (Nymphaea rubra var. loniflora), was planted into Lake Hévíz in 1898 by Sándor Lovassy an agricultural engineer from Keszthely. The pink flowers are usually only 5-7 centimetres above the water. At the moment, the flowers start to bloom in the late evening, and they close their petals in the morning. On the other hand, the smaller white waterlilies (Nymphaea alba L.var. minor) are already indigenous in the thermal water of Hévíz. At the moment, they are not present in the lake, but you can spot them in the Hévíz stream.   The smallest In the water, many strains of bacteria can be also found. There are two species of bacteria which can only be found in Hévíz including the miscromonospora of Hévíz (Micromonospora heviziensis).   The most protected The little grebe is the most protected species at the Lake. In Hungary, they can only survive the winter here. By the stream, we can see many families but sometimes they build a nest at the Lake as well.  Once they nested at one of the stairs leading into the water, so the guests of the Lake could see them from up close. Unlike other grebe species, the little grebe not only eats fish but smaller organisms as well.   The biggest The road leading to Hévíz is called Festetics alley, which is a beautiful alley filled with enormous bald cypresses. The breathtaking cypresses are from North America, in Hévíz you can meet them in the protective forest around the lake. Unlike other cypresses, its leaves become red during the autumn, and the leaves completely fall off in the winter. They are wonderful to see both in the summer with their green crowns and during the autumn with golden and reddish leaves.   The prettiest The common kingfisher doesn’t have a regular nesting place, but they can be spotted in Hévíz quite frequently. Most of the times we can see them by the Hévíz stream.   The ones with the best smell We also have a beautiful pink flower to show you, which most of times live rooting into the mud. The flowering rush grows even 2 metres above the water surface. They bloom from June to August, and they usually spread by scattering their seeds on the water.   Tourists and residents There are some who only come back for the summer, while other come for the winter. During the spring many bird species return to Hévíz like the barn swallows, the common house martins and then the Eurasian coots. The great cormorant can be often spotted by the streams, the grey herons and egrets also like to visit us from time to time from the Kis-Balaton areas. Many ducks already feel at home by the water of the Lake.   If you have problems with mosquitoes… There is a small fish in the Lake of Hévíz which has a great appetite for mosquitoes! The so-called mosquito fishes are not indigenous in Hévíz, however, they definitely feel at home in our waters. Many other tropical fishes can be also found in the stream who enjoy the warmer water.   The most frightening The dice snake definitely looks frightening to some, but in reality it is a really peaceful animal who likes to live in the water. It is only a 75-100 centimetre long and as its name suggests its back is filled with little black shapes.     There are many things to explore regarding the unique flora and fauna of Hévíz. Come and experience it first hand!     More information: Tourinform Hévíz 8380 Hévíz, Rákóczi str. 2. heviz@tourinform.hu +36 83 540 131

tartalom: + 1 Beach on the shores of Lake Hévíz Lake Hévíz is primarily a medicinal lake, where swimming is not recommended for children but in order to meet the needs of all guests, on the shore of the lake, a normal, heated pool with several depths and fun elements has been established. Shade sails have also been set up to protect against the strong sun. Large beaches with lots of play facilities and activities at the western tip of Lake Balaton Keszthely Municipal Beach is located in the bay of Keszthely next to the pier. Its attractions include the Balaton-shaped swimming pool and the very picturesque Island Baths, reminiscent of the Happy Peacetimes. Concerts of popular music are held on the beach in summer evenings. The Diás Play Beach in Gyenesdiás wins the title of the best child-friendly beach around Lake Balaton every year. The beach, rich in adventure elements and programme opportunities, is the most popular beach for families with children at Lake Balaton. The popularity of the Lido Beach in Vonyarcvashegy has been continuing for many decades. The most special feature of the long and shady beach is the water-skiing track, which is very popular with young people. Balatongyörök beach - The 120-metre-long sandy beach is a paradise for kids fond of building sandcastles. The beach area not only has a giant water slide but also a wide range of water vehicles for hire. In 2018, it won the Greenest Beach of Lake Balaton award. Smaller family-friendly, quiet beaches For those who don't mind that the beach experience is not complemented by animation programmes, special slides, fun elements, age-specific playgrounds and a large selection of buffets, the Libás Beach in Keszthely and the Lido Beach in Gyenesdiás are the ideal choices. Dog Beach in Keszthely If you would like to go to the beach with your pet, you can choose Keszthely Dog Beach. Here you can enjoy the summer beach experience in a dog-friendly environment. If you are looking for a place in Hévíz where your dog can also have a splash, we recommend the Hévíz Stream. You can even combine dog swimming with an easy evening walk. In the stream, your dog can also experience the pleasantly refreshing thermal water. Water Parks of Kehida and Zalakaros For those who would like to visit an adventure bath during their holiday, we recommend the Kehida Thermal Spa and Adventure Bath or the Zalakaros Bath. Both baths have outdoor and indoor pools, hot and thermal pools, swimming pools and a slide park.

tartalom: + 1 Hévíz Turisztikai Np. Kft. participates in this year's Veszprém-Balaton 2023 European Capital of Culture events with its program series Forest Mystery. The Forest Mystery, or Game in Green! the main concept of events in Hévíz is to use natural spaces for cultural events where people, nature and art can connect! It was obvious that the main location of the programs to be realized is the Northern Nature Reserve next to Lake Hévíz, where micro-concerts, children's performances and geobotanical walks are organized several times between April and October. One of the special elements of this series of events the pART forest exhibition opened on August 4, 2023 at 16:00. Anyone who knows the area and has seen the exhibition - which is not only the location but also the theme of the forest itself - can easily understand the choice of title. The pART forest exhibition is located on a forest path next to the northern stream of Lake Hévíz. By walking in the forest, we can get to know the hidden beauties that are usually difficult to see with the naked eye, or remain hidden during an average walk, through an exhibition showing the wildlife of the nature reserve, selected from more than 60 pictures. Pictures of wonderful birds, special plants, small animals and bugs can be seen on the pictures stretched on and between trees. A significant part of the works are paintings, the work of nature illustrator Márton Zsoldos. The exhibition also includes some photos taken by nature conservationists Előd Búzás and Gábor Sinka, here, in the immediate vicinity of Lake Hévíz. The opening of the forest exhibition is a wooden gate with the motto of the exhibition: "Open to nature!" On behalf of the organizer Hévíz Turisztikai Np Kft., Tamás Pálffy emphasized that the aspects of nature conservation, sustainability and green events were taken into account when organizing the entire Forest Mystery program series. Every event tries to leave the smallest possible ecological footprint, and in all its elements it strives to bring people, nature and the cultural experiences that can be experienced in nature closer to each other in such a way that they interfere with nature only to a small extent, but in no case in a harmful way. Recycled wooden picture frames donated by local residents were also used for this exhibition, and sugar asparagus was used for mounting. The forest exhibition is expected to be on display until September 30, but this may even change due to the use of natural materials and the development of weather conditions. In this case, durability was not even a goal. However, the gate remains! Because whether there is a pART Forest Exhibition in the Hévíz Véderdø or not, the message is always valid: Open to nature! A small taste of the exhibition can be viewed in this photo gallery!

tartalom: + 1 While Lake Balaton is the biggest freshwater lake in Central Europe, Lake Hévíz is the world’s biggest thermal lake that is also suitable for bathing. The source of Lake Balaton is a river called Zala, while Lake Hévíz has its source from a cave underneath the lake. The water of Lake Balaton flows through the Sió channel into the river Danube, however, the water of Lake Hévíz flows into the Gyöngyös stream, then to Small Balaton and ends up in Lake Balaton. The deepest point of Lake Balaton is about 11 metres in contrast to Lake Hévíz, where the source point is 38.5 metres deep. The surface of the water of Lake Balaton is 600 km2 whereas Lake Hévíz has only a 0.0475 km2 water surface. Due to the great water output of Lake Hévíz, the complete water of the lake is replaced in every 72 hours. Regarding Lake Balaton, this phenomenon takes almost two years. The temperature of Lake Balaton can be as high as 28°C on hot summer days; however, during cold winters the upper layers of the water can freeze. The ice can even grow 25 cm thick. On the other hand, the temperature of Lake Hévíz never goes below 23°C, not even in the winter. In the summer, the water of Lake Hévíz is about 35-36°C hot. We would be able to swim around Lake Hévíz in about half an hour if the buildings did not prevent us from doing so. Nonetheless, a week wouldn’t be enough to swim around Lake Balaton. Lake Balaton is full of both summertime and wintertime activities: you can rent a boat or a paddleboat, you can surf, sail and try out many extreme sports, while in the winter you can ice skate or slide if the ice is thick enough. In Lake Hévíz, you may only bath; however, you can do so every day of the year. The water of Lake Balaton is qualified as drinking water, whereas the water of Lake Hévíz is medicinal water also suitable for cures and many people drink it. In Lake Balaton, you can bath all day long, while, in Lake Hévíz, it is advisable to stay only thirty minutes at a time. We can even walk into Lake Balaton from the shores, while into Lake Hévíz we can descend into the water through stairs since the water is 2 metres deep around the shores as well. The typical flora of Lake Balaton is the reed which is mostly located around the shores. Lake Hévíz is famous for the beautiful water lilies that float around the whole Lake. Both lakes are rich in different species of fish. The mud of Lake Balaton is quite popular with kids who love playing with it on the beaches. On the other hand, the mud of Lake Hévíz is favoured by adults, who like to use the mud on their bodies due to its medical benefits. Lake Balaton as a touristic region is the second most popular region in Hungary after Budapest. At the same time, Hévíz, following Budapest, has the greatest number of guest nights in Hungary. Lake Balaton offers spectacular views whether you are watching it in the embrace of monadnocks, admiring it in a storm, or you are taking photos of the birds gathering along the crevasses or of the bellying sails. The crystal clear turquoise colour of Lake Hévíz, the blooming water lilies floating on it, the whirling mist above it, the reflection of the buildings at night, and to be aware that you are floating above 38.5 meters are a mystical feeling. Both Lake Balaton and Lake Hévíz are national treasures, which have evolved over millions of years as they are today. They are not for us, but we enjoy all the good that they can give us. We have to save and protect them so that the future generations would be able to enjoy the unparalleled natural beauty they provide.

tartalom: + 1 The Kányavár Island The arched wooden bridge built of wooden beams in the eighties has now become a symbol of Kis-Balaton. We can enjoy a wonderful view of the groves from the bridge. We can admire special waterfowl such as the great egret, the gray heron, or the cormorant, which is less popular with anglers. On the 1.5-kilometer-long "Búbosvöcsök" educational trail, 15 boards show the fish, birds and mammals living in the Kis-Balaton region. You can also go fishing on the island and look at the water and the hills of Zala from two lookout towers.   If you would rather go inside... The Kis-Balaton Visitor Center is the latest exhibition in the Balaton Uplands National Park. An excellent choice for the whole family all year round, with the interactive exhibition even the little ones won't get bored! On the green roof structure of the building, which resembles game passages, you can walk on an interactive educational trail. From here you can clearly see the winter bird feeders and hear birds chirping. There is a gift shop and restaurant in the building as well, and children can enjoy the fresh air in the playground in the courtyard, while parents can refresh themselves with coffee. The cinema is part of the exhibition, where we can get to know the winter-summer, autumn-spring wildlife of Kis-Balaton through touching quotes from the novels of István Fekete Tüskevár and Téli berek during a half-hour film, all in the interpretive interpretation of Gábor Reviczky.     In the interactive part of the exhibition, we can find out what invasive species are and why do they mean danger to the flora and fauna of the region. It turns out what the role of Kis-Balaton is in the protection of the water quality of Lake Balaton, and we can even examine water samples ourselves. If you want to see even more of this magical world, you can take part in a canoe tour organized by the Balaton Uplands National Park from early spring to late autumn. It is only possible to paddle on the Hévíz stream until the mid-March, but on the Gyöngyös stream, which carries the water of the Hévíz stream towards Lake Balaton, the regular tours are available during the year as well. The end point of the rowing tour is Diás Island, where the hut of Matula evokes the atmosphere of the groves. At the István Fekete Memorial next to the small wooden hut, you could also delve into the hidden wonders of Kis-Balaton during a very interesting exhibition.   Secret sights off the beaten path Most places in Kis-Balaton like the Diás Island can only be visited with a guide, but there are quite a few romantic and protected areas that can be explored freely without a guide. Next to the river Zala, you can find the 'Madárvárta' at the dam of Lake Hídvégi, which was built by students from Zurich. The building was made of thousands of acacia logs without any nails or screws. Next to the parking lot, about 100 meters away, you can find the 'fish ladder', where you can marvel at the cavalcade of fish in the spring. The fish ladder between the river Zala and Lake Hidvégi slows down the flow of water, so fish can easily swim in the opposite direction.     Buffaloes and other animal species In the buffalo reserve in Kápolnapuszta, you can not only see buffalos but you can also spot susliks lurking in the grass! Even in the early 20th century, the ground squirrel was considered harmful and therefore water was into their passages, so they would be forced to move away. Other spectacular animals are the goats and donkeys in the petting zoo. In the colonies carved into the loess wall, the bee-eaters stand out with their brightly colored feathers.     But what about buffaloes? The Balaton Uplands National Park started breeding water buffaloes in 1992 in an area purchased for gene conservation. The reserve is home to the largest herd of buffalo in the country, living in great peace with the gray cattles. During the winter, the animals spend most of their time in the barn near the entrance, where we can see the traditional stock-farming in a cozy old photo next to the buffaloes. In better weather, the animals are on pasture, which is most easily reached by horse-drawn carriage ordered in the centre building. The so called black giants are also “buffalo-strong” and don’t necessarily always approach people with friendly intentions. Driving through in the pastures with a horse-drawn carriage is like being on safari. A novelty in the area of the reserve is the lookout tower, which was handed over on January 28, 2022, where we can now observe the animals from up above.   The Kis-Balaton House: a cultural travel Next to the foundation walls of the former church of St. Adorjan and the Cyril and Methodius Memorial Column, you could enjoy the photos of the wonders of Zala County in a Millennium Monument designed by Imre Makovecz. In the letters hanging from the top of the special-shaped dome, you can read the names of the settlements of the county. At the exhibition of the Kis-Balaton House you can find out about the wildlife, and the children can have fun on the playground. Next to the Kis-Balaton House, you can reach the island of Kanyavár on an asphalted bike path on the bank of the river Zala. You can also rent a bike at the Kis-Balaton House. (Opening: March 12. Address: Zalavár, Vársziget utca 2.)   For more information on sights and programs: Tourinform Hévíz8380 Hévíz, Rákóczi str. 2.heviz@tourinform.hu+36 83 540 131

lead: Bathing in an experience pool with a massaging back shower, in a 34-36°C warm thermal pool or in the indoor pools of Lake Bath: relaxation is guaranteed.
tartalom: + 1 The cold, foggy, rainy winter days seem to be easily survivable only when viewed from a warm room. It goes without saying that in Hévíz we recommend a pleasantly warm bath to everyone. Unwind with the power of steam! In Hévíz, if you want really warm water, you can bathe in the indoor and outdoor spa and thermal waters of the Hévíz Tófürdő or the wellness hotels. If you are willing to take on extra experiences, bathe outside in the Hévíz lake, even when it is snowing, in the warm water of the swimming pool, which is approximately 23-25°C. If you want to be sure, you can choose the indoor and outdoor thermal pools of spa and wellness hotels for the guaranteed 36°C water. Want to actively sweat? As soon as the colder autumn days arrive, the stones of the saunas in Hévíz are already heating up. It is no coincidence that the most popular autumn-winter spa experience is sauna. Pores expand in the steam of Finnish saunas. The hot air permeates every part of us and has a beneficial effect not only on our well-being, but also on the functioning of the immune system. Take a sauna anywhere, anytime to keep yourself fresh, and take a sauna with friends for the sake of the experience, because the professional sauna masters not only fill your body, but also your soul with new energy! Melt with the power of steam! Of course, you can not only warm up in traditional Finnish saunas. In the wellness hotels, steam cabins, infrared saunas, scented individual or couples' bathtubs, and light therapy equipment also help you forget the cold weather outside. If we are really lucky, we can crown the day with an outdoor hot tub. All that is good: in one! And this is the Hévíz medicinal mud massage to the core. The thick black mud, heated to around 40°C, is applied thickly on the skin and then massaged over the entire body surface. As the mud slowly cools, our skin warms up. After the massage, a very thorough warm bath is recommended, which can also be combined with swimming in 34-36°C medicinal water.
Walk, jog, hike! Forget that it's not sunny and 30°C! Put on warm shoes, layered clothes, a wind and waterproof jacket, and you can start an exciting tour! In the vicinity of Hévíz, whether you head in the direction of Rezi, Lake Balaton or Kis-Balaton, you will find numerous well-marked hiking trails. But, if you were only walking here in the city, we recommend the Tavirózsa Tanösvény, whose 2.2 km long route leads around Lake Hévíz, in the 'lower' and 'upper' Véderdő. Even if you don't go far from the city, you can recharge your energy by walking along the forest roads, move your muscles and enjoy the fresh and clean air, while you can catch a glimpse of the steaming thermal water from several points of the promenade - even from the canopy promenade. One thing is for sure, a hearty walk will definitely warm you up. Is it too cold for outdoor sports or is it raining? Jump over to Alsópáhok and test yourself in the Adrenalin Arena! Row on a steaming stream! Find a friendly tour guide and join the challenge! You will have a wonderful experience on the warm flowing water of Lake Hévíz, on the Hévíz stream. The approximately 3-hour program includes 10 km of paddling, for which you do not need to be a professional canoeist, and you can even take on the distance with children. Bring warm clothes and maybe a pillow under your bottom, and the organizers will provide you with professional equipment and hot drinks during the journey and at the end of the distance. But if you paddle, you won't get cold! Invite yourself over for a hot drink! You don't even have to get up from the armchair or move away from the bar to warm us up! Order yourself a warm punch, a hot coffee, tea, chocolate, or perhaps a spicy mulled wine and you can already feel like the emperor of life, as long as you let the steaming drink in your palm sip, so that the minutes just tick by carefree.

Winter is just a season. Some people even go for an extreme swim at Lake Balaton in January, but you don't have to do such an extreme sport to have a good time.

lead: Winter is just a season. Some people even go for an extreme swim at Lake Balaton in January, but you don't have to do such an extreme sport to have a good time.
tartalom: + 1 Would it be cool though? If you want to look cool by swimming in a natural lake in winter try Lake Hévíz. The temperature of the Lake never goes below 24˙C, not even in the winter. In Hévíz it doesn't matter what season it is: it is always bathing time! This is a proven fact! Did you know? Tired muscles, cold toes, and stress dissolve in warm water! In the thermal spa pools, you can enjoy the hot steam all day and night at 36°C. Wherever you go, sooner or later (sooner is the better) you're bound to stumble upon a poolside. Melt yourself out with the power of steam! As soon as winter sets in, the sauna stones start to glow. Honey, fragrant, coconut, beer infusions, and refreshing saunas await you. You don't have to start with the 90°C Finnish sauna, instead start with the aroma or steam cabin and relax with the power of nature! A water experience in a different way! Ever been paddling in winter? Have you ever paddled at all? Only here, and only in winter, you can experience it on the Hévíz Stream. Not only the experience is special, but the landscape is also a sight to behold! Which is why only a very limited number of paddlers can paddle on a stretch of about 10 km. If you want to go on a canoe trip, you should book early for this programme! But good news: it is safe for children too and even recommended for beginners! In fact, zigzagging is even more fun. Forget the water! Warm water and steam are not the only ways to warm up. Explore the so called ‘Vadlán-lik (Wild Girl’s Cave) or find out yourself if the basalt organs really play some music or not. Finally, make a selfie from the top of one of the lookout towers of the Keszthely Hills, or from the Castle of Szigliget, with Lake Balaton and the basalt hills in the background! Catch fire! Would you like to participate in a small adventure tour, just here, just in town, preferably not too long? Join a torch-lit tour of the town, discover the secrets of Hévíz on a magical evening on our night tour! You can sign up for the tour at the Tourinform in Hévíz.   There’s a Plan B! You arrived in the city, and it’s raining all day.  Don't stay home! It's open now as well! If you like challenges and moving a lot The Adrenalin Arena in Alsópáhok is the perfect choice for you. The Arena is fun for adults and for children as well. For the less adventurous, Keszthely's Helikon Castle Museum is the place to visit. In the castle you can spend days, since there are six different exhibitions waiting for you to explore them all. You may also find some other thermal baths in the area as well filled with slides and many pools. You're here to relax, not to jump!  Stay in the hotel and head to the spa. There's nothing better than one or more pampering sessions, a nice relaxing massage, a scented bath or some beauty treatments. Don’t forget to eat! Morning, noon, evening, anytime - have a steaming drink; tea, coffee, mulled wine, punch, hot chocolate and/or eat hot cream soups, pancakes, roasts, or the finest lángos in the city. You don't have to go down to the bar if you don't want to. Order everything from the hotel and spend the whole day in bed. Although you can do that at home too, although you would miss the room service! Change your perspective! No snow? You can still enjoy your winter vacation!

lead: We organised the HEVIZIBIVALY Duathlon for the first time this year. Here's what happened on 27 November!
tartalom: + 1 The competition was organised by the Hévíz Tourism Non-profit Ltd., the Balaton Uplands National Park, the Saint Andrew Rheumatological Hospital, the Vadlán Runners and the Vidra Water cruise team. More than 30 additional volunteers took part in the event. A special competition The goal of the organizers was to create a new sport competition that is also unique nationwide. They not only paired two completely different sports (rowing and running) as a duathlon but they have also chosen a very special venue. The Hévíz stream leads away the warm running water of Lake Hévíz, so despite the winter weather, you can row on a pleasantly warm, steaming stream. The date of the competition was also predetermined by the conditions of the location, as rowing on the Hévíz stream is only possible from November to March. As the stream belongs to the local national park, canoeing is strictly forbidden outside the given period since it would disturb the flora and fauna especially in the breeding season in summer. So it is no coincidence that the late autumn date has been chosen. The aim of the organizer, the Hévíz Tourism Non-profit Ltd. was also to draw attention to the importance of exercise, active recreation in nature and a healthy lifestyle. They wanted to prove that Hévíz is not only a paradise for lovers of healing and wellness, but it can also offer many values and opportunities for athletes at any time of the year. The competition itself 83 starting teams, a total of 146 competitors arrived at the water-gate of the Hévíz stream to get into the water by canoe, kayak or SUP, and to make their way to Fenékpuszta which is about 10 kilometres away. Participants were able to bring their own watercrafts but those who didn’t have their own were also able to rent a canoe on the spot. After completing the 10-kilometre water distance, the participants were able to leave the boats at the transfer point and change their water vehicle for running shoes. After this their task was to run back on the same route on the embankment next to the Hévíz stream to finally reach the finish line at the beach of Lake Hévíz. The race has started on November 27 at 9 am, when the first canoe on the Hévíz stream in the direction of Fenékpuszta set off. The participants started the competition periodically, a new canoe set sail in almost every second minute. The last runner arrived back at the Hévíz Lake Bath beach area at 3 pm. All participants received the HEVIZIBIVALY Duathlon medal. THE PARTICIPANTS OF THE FIRST DUATLON Pre-registration for the competition was open until November 19th. In the morning of November 27, 83 competitors finally set out to complete the approximately 21-kilometer distance, including rowing and then running. All together 48 two or three-member teams and 35 individual participants (28 men, 7 women) set off. We welcomed ultra-runners, kayakers and amateur athletes among the competitors. No one gave up the race, all starters covered the distance without accident, so in the end all 146 competitors received the HEVIZIBIVALY medals. THE FINALISTS TEAMS: BL Team (#49) with a time of 2:10:04. Tamás Kolb and Judit Maléth (#54) with a time result of 2:15:28. Tamás Horváth and Gábor Major (#8), with a time result of 2:15:42. IN THE INDIVIDUAL WOMEN'S CATEGORY Éva Berekalli (#79) with a time result of 2:16:35. Helga Szidónia Kőhalmi (#71) with a time result of 2:18:23. Anita Galliné Szabó (#68) with a time result of 2:26:27. IN THE INDIVIDUAL MEN 'S CATEGORY Álmos Kassai (#84) with a time result of 1:42:16. József Friedrich (#89) with a time result of 1:52:58. Zoltán Csécsei (#92) with a time result of 1:55:42. A special award was given to the fastest SUP competitor Kornél Kazai. The success of the competition and the sincere enthusiasm of the competitors confirmed the organizers to organise the HEVIZIBIVALY Duathlon competition again and again every year during the winter, if they can. We want more and more people to prove that they do have the buffalo power too! We truly hope that every participant has enjoyed the race! See you next year as well! And lastly…   Why the competition is called ‘HEVIZIBIVALY’ 'HEVIZIBIVALY' means 'buffalo from Hévíz' in Hungarian. Barely 50 years ago, water buffaloes were trampled along the bed of the Hévíz stream several times a year. The buffalos were driven here from the area to walk up and down in the creek bed. As the bed of the stream was always full of plants, the buffalos trampling down the plants ensured that the water flowed continuously and evenly in the direction of Lake Balaton. Buffaloes still live in several places in the area today, but they no longer have the task of cleaning the creek bed.   This year our competitors have proven that they have the power of a buffalo. But do you have what it takes? Come and join us next year!   Some photos from the event: [galeria]

tartalom: + 1 This summer everyone wants to spend as much time outdoors as possible. The variety of bicycles you can rent at the Tourinform Office of Hévíz has been adjusted accordingly so everyone can enjoy cycling.   SIX MODERN E-BIKES CAN BE RENTED FOR 2 OR 24 HOURS Let it be the hills around Hévíz or the inclines within the city - with these new e-bikes it all becomes easy. Even longer bike tours can be made with the bikes, since the batteries have a range of 50-60 kilometers.   Prices:   Normal Trekking Bicycles: 2 hours: 1,500 HUF 24 hours: 3,000 HUF   E-bikes: 2 hours: 3,000 HUF 24 hours: 5,500 HUF     3 ROUTE SUGGESTIONS:   1. HÉVÍZ-KESZTHELY-GYENESDIÁS-VONYARCVASHEGY-BALATONGYÖRÖK From the Tourinform Office you can reach Keszthely after a 6-kilometer bike path between beautiful swamp cypresses, along Lake Hévíz. In Keszthely, you can get to the shores of Lake Balaton via the pedestrian zone and then along the residential area of the city. The bike path runs along the bank, past the new apartment buildings. A short detour can be made at Libás Beach or at the small, atmospheric Lido Beach in Gyenesdiás, then you can continue towards Vonyarcvashegy. This is one of the most beautiful parts of the tour. A bike charging station is also located in the Tourinform Office in Vonyarcvashegy. The beautiful view of Balatongyörök was already known to the Romans, as evidenced by the finds found in the area. Distance: return trip: 36 km   2. RETURN BY SHIP, ENJOY THE LAKE! If you do not want to return from Balatongyörök by bicycles, you can continue your journey with a ship on Lake Balaton. In the summer, a ship to Keszthely leaves at 5.25 p.m. From Keszthely you can easily return to Hévíz by bike.     3. GUIDED BIKE TOUR WITH A LOCAL TOUR GUIDE In the city center of Hévíz, the e-bike is an ideal means of transport, and the whole city can be explored in just about 2 hours. During the bike tour, your guide will present the most famous buildings in the city: the lake, the Hévíz stream, Roman ruins and among other things the church from the so called Árpádian period.
