tartalom: + 1 The Hungarian Association of Hotels and Restaurants (MSZÉSZ) in cooperation with Hungary Tourism PLC recently announced the winners of the Hotel of the Year award for 2014. The 15 nominated hotels for the "Hotel of the Year" contested in three, four and five star categories.  In the four-star superior category the Hotel Európa fit****superior has won the title of “Hotel of the Year”, as the only provincial hotel in Hungary. The jury took into consideration the quality of services (investigated on the basis of the MSZÉSZ' own mystery shopper tests), the innovative sales and hotel management methods, the revenue-indicators, Human Resources practices, CSR as well as the opinions of guests (on hotel review and reservation websites such TripAdvisor, Booking, Expedia, Holidaycheck, etc.).   We are especially proud of this award, because long years of well considered development policy, the customer-centric mentality and the hard work of nearly 200 workers have been rewarded with this prize. Thank you for this fantastic acknowledgement and congratulations to all the participants and winners!

tartalom: + 1 In 2015, Hévíz created its own trademark for the accreditation of therapies based on Lake Hévíz's medicinal properties. The effectiveness of Traditional Hévíz Therapy, which has excellent results in alleviating musculoskeletal complaints, is proven by the 220-year-old history of thermal medicine, thousands of recovered guests and modern medical research. In addition to bathing in medicinal water, the basic elements of the Traditional Hévíz Therapy are mudpack and weight bath. As an additional treatment, drinking medicinal water from the drinking fountain is part of the package as well as various massages, movement therapies, physiotherapy and hydrotherapy. Ideally, the duration of the cure is two weeks. Institutions that have the necessary professional and medical background, as well as the medical infrastructure for the therapy (e.g. thermal water pool, weight bath, facilities for carrying out mud packs), are eligible for the trademark. Every two years, a professional committee verifies whether the requirements are met. On 15th February 2019, three experienced rheumatologists, Dr Annamária Bergmann, Dr Gábor Domokos and Dr Sándor Csordás, personally visited the institutions providing the Therapy to check the infrastructure and staffing conditions of the Traditional Hévíz Therapy. During this special weekend, you can choose from soups, main dishes and dessert specialties prepared with the Wine of the of Hévíz.

tartalom: + 1 This year's event will take place immediately after St. Martin's Day, on the weekend from November 12th to 14th. This means that besides the young wine goose will also enrich the menu offerings this year.   Main ingredient: Aszófőer Welschriesling from the Fodorvin winery The title “Wine of the City of Hévíz 2021” went to the 2020 Aszófőer Welschriesling from the Fodorvin winery. The competition took place on July 7 in the restaurant of the Hotel Spa Hévíz with the participation of an expert jury. Our jury was not mistaking, since they truly got the best: the Aszófőer Welschriesling by Fodorvin was again selected as the winner of the Italian Riesling category at the Parliament's Wine Chest in October  2021 from among 218 wines. The family cellar of the Fodorvin winery was built in 1858 in Aszófő, in the Vörösmáli vineyard, where they currently manage 9 hectares as a family business. The reductively produced wine has a pronounced greenish-yellow color, and its aroma is dominated by citric and vegetable notes. The full taste is complemented by a pleasant acidity. It can currently also be purchased in the Hévíz Tourinform office with the label “Wine of the City of Hévíz 2021”.   Exceptional menus and courses In mid-November, the restaurants in Hévíz will prepare more than just special dishes with the winning wine. These delicacies in the Platán restaurant will include, for example, the foie gras ragout with forest mushrooms and Aszófőer Welschriesling on a crispy yeast plait, as well as the crispy leg of goose with sage and rosemary potatoes and apple slices braised in Hévíz city wine. In the NaturMed Hotel Carbona's buffet menu - which is not only open to hotel guests - you can try, for example, a sauerkraut soup with smoked meat, dill and Aszófőer Welschriesling. There will also be a goose stomach ragout with a creamy mushroom sauce, which has been perfumed with Aszófőer Welschriesling. tartalom: + 1 After 220 years of medical experience and research, the Traditional Hévíz Therapy became a trademark of Hévíz in 2015. The therapy consists of three basic and four complementary treatments using the healing properties of sulphurous magnesium carbonate water. Experts have recognized that a significant part of the hydro, movement, physio- and electrotherapies of the Traditional Hévíz Therapy is suitable for the treatment of certain problems of the Post-Covid syndrome. In addition, the mineral content of Lake Hévíz, the evaporating water and the climatic effect of the 60-hectare Protective Forest surrounding the lake are also very effective in achieving the healing effect. The Post-Covid Care programme will work on the model of the already proven Traditional Hévíz Therapy. Patients arriving in Hévíz with post-Covid-19 symptoms will receive professional and personalised treatments in the comfort of a hotel, under medical supervision. The programme and the quality of the treatments will be identical, regardless of which Hévíz location the patient chooses.   THE PROCESS OF POST COVID CARE EXAMINATIONS AND TREATMENTS IN HÉVÍZ The specialists in Hévíz try to alleviate or, if possible, eliminate the symptoms of Post-Covid syndrome, such as shortness of breath, chest pain, muscle weakness, concentration and psychological problems. The patient's condition is assessed before arrival using an online questionnaire, and a full medical examination is available before the treatment starts, either at the hotel or at a local private clinic. The specialists aim to put together an individualised treatment programme, as Post-Covid symptoms vary considerably from patient to patient. If the severity of the symptoms indicates it, they may even recommend a hospitalisation different from the programme. The Post Covid Care tests and treatments are designed and supervised by rheumatologists, internists, cardiologists, dieticians and mental health professionals with decades of experience. After the results of endurance, muscle strength of the main muscle groups, oxygen saturation, cardiological and laboratory tests, the recommended treatment programme for the patient is drawn up. Depending on the results, the intensity and frequency of the exercise will also be decided. The duration of the Post-Covid Care treatments varies depending on the severity of the symptoms but is at least one week. The treatments aim to achieve the best possible recovery and fuller rehabilitation as far as possible without the use of medication and with a targeted treatment plan (active movement therapy, passive treatment methods and other physiotherapy techniques). lead: + 3 Nobody likes rainy weather during the holidays, but that doesn't mean you should lock yourself in your hotel room. Even though you cannot sunbathe or enjoy the sun during a rainy day, we have collected what you can do when it rains.

tartalom: Beach with an umbrella?! Yes! Swimming in Hévíz is an experience even when it rains or the weather is cooler! The temperature of Lake Hévíz is about 35-36 °C in summer even with rain and wind. If the rain bothers you, you can also relax in the warm water in the building above the lake. Water lilies open up when it rains, and when the air temperature is cooler than the water temperature, one may even be surprised, since the warm water lake is usually steaming!     Summer is not just about the beaches! At the western end of Lake Balaton, there is a lot to do in rainy or cloudy weather as well. 5 program tips around Hévíz in rainy weather: The Farmers' Market of Hévíz can be visited three times a week, on Saturdays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, where you can buy delicacies and handmade trinkets. The Bobo Fun Park is open when it rains as well! The largest adrenaline arena on Lake Balaton and in Hungary was opened just a year ago, and the indoor facility is open for everyone! For adults, the park is full of relaxation and excitement, as it offers a lot of sporting, active recreation in a huge square while for children the park offers curious adventures.     The exhibitions of Helikon Castle have so many exhibitions that one day is not enough to see everything. Why not visit the Festetics Castle on a rainy day? You even have the possibility to visit the several exhibitions with a two-day combined ticket, such as the Noble forms of life, the carriage museum, the railway model and hunting exhibition, or the palm house. In the Castle Museum, many exhibitions have been renewed in recent years, so it's worth taking a look. What's more, each day a themed program awaits the guests as well like guided tours in the castle park, guided tours in the castle from the cellars to the attic and so on.     The Imre Festetics Experience Center awaits everyone! The House of Nature and Animal Park is located at the border of Gyenesdiás, only 10 minutes from Hévíz. With interactive exhibition and many local animals the park is fun for the whole family!     Just around the corner Don't miss the following programs if you are looking for nice activities to do when it's cloudy! The Sümeg Castle Games offer an exciting program for everyone. Throughout the summer you can enjoy the thrill of the knight's tournament every Wednesday and Saturday and you can even take part in a medieval dinner afterwards. The program is perfect in any weather, because when it rains there is a huge knight's hall at the foot of the castle hill, just below the restaurant.      If you would like to do something that brings you closer to nature, taking on a boat trip in the Cave Lake of Tapolca is the perfect program for you! During the summer months, there are always many people at the Visitor Center of the Balaton Upland National Park in Tapolca, where you can get acquainted with the earth's caves in a 3D exhibition and then experience rowing in the crystal clear waters of the cave. In the permanent exhibition of the Balaton Museum you can get acquainted with the past and the present of Lake Balaton. Even though it's a little unplesant to bathe in Lake Balaton when it rains, if there is no wind you can still go on a hip cruise. In the summer months, 1-hour cruises set off from the port of Keszthely.   Hike and enjoy the thousand wonders of nature! Trips on foot and by bike in the area might be a good program to consider. In the Keszthely Mountains you can choose from easy  to extreme hiking trails. We offer special hiking routes on our premises and you can rent children's and adult bicycles, e-bikes and e-scooters at the Tourinform Office of Hévíz. The Kányavári Island and Buffalo Reserve at Kis-Balaton are also charming despite of the rain. On the 2.5 km-long nature trail you can admire the water spiders or the great egret up close. You can take part in a Hungarian "safari" program in the buffalo reserve.     You can also get to know native Hungarian animal species in the Africa Museum in Balatonederics, or at the Salföld Ranch in the Balaton Upland National Park. You can also test your stamina in the adventure parks of the area, such as Tavirózsa Adventure Park in Hévíz or the much larger Zobori Adventure Park in Zalaszabar. But you can also walk through dinosaurs in the Dinosaur Park in Rezi.   And last but not least, roam the volcanic sites of the Keszthely Mountains and Lake Balaton! tartalom: + 1 To prepare for the hotel’s 15th birthday, we have undergone a spectacular renovation in December.  We await our guests with a totally renewed environment and a friendly hotel lobby interior, where we increased the number of seats, and with this we raised the standards of comfort, with new, friendly and practical furnishings, bright and pure shapes and colours.  The Guest Relation Manager has got a separated office in the hotel lobby in order to provide an even better service to our guests. The „Aperitif bar” at the entrance of the restaurant has also undergone a complete transformation, and under the name of VinoBar it awaits the guests with new, fresh green colours and furnishings, as well as Hungarian wine offer. The most noticeable changes can be seen in the swimming pool. All of the internal pools has got a completely new look, all the covers has renewed, the white walls has got new colours, so the experience bath as well as the indoor swimming pool diverse from one another in their atmosphere and colours, according to their function. The cover exchanges in addition to walking surfaces affected also the inside part of the pools.   All the bathrooms in the main building has been renovated. Similarly to the reconstruction of the apartment building, a completely new design applied also in the bathrooms, where the functionality play the major role. Following our guest’s expectations we reduced the number of rooms with bathtub, and with this we increased the number of rooms with comfortable shower cabin.

lead: After being closed for more than 7 weeks, Lake Hévíz reopens its gates on 9 May, at 9 o’clock.

tartalom: + 1 With taking the right safety measurements, the Lake opens only its beach side for the time being. The Spa asks its visitors to follow the rules regarding hygiene and use only the showers which are located outside on the beach.  The indoor areas are being sanitized continuously, but they are not open yet for guests. Lake Hévíz is in the unique situation that the 4.4 hectare of natural, clean thermal water constantly changes and cleans itself naturally due to its discharge rate of 410 litres per second. The temperature of the lake revolves around 30 °C as of right now, thanks to the thermal springs inside the lake. This way outdoor swimming and bathing is really pleasant right now. Lake Hévíz is also surrounded by a 6.6-hectare forest, where guests coming to Hévíz can easily avoid crowds and be in the fresh air while enjoying themselves in the shadows of the wonderful swamp cypresses.     The Hotels Are Preparing to Open too Hotels in Hévíz are accepting reservations from Whitsun, however, most of the hotels will stay closed during the weeks before that.  Currently the staffs of the hotels are working behind closed doors; they are making everything in preparation for the arriving guests so they can enjoy their stay in the cleanest and safest environment. For the time being, the most important thing is safety. All the hotels do everything in their power to follow the safety rules made by the Hungarian Government and the statements released by the Hungarian Touristic Agency in their COVID guidebook. In Hévíz, there were no problems regarding tidiness in the hotels before the outbreak of the virus either, most restaurants and community centrums had already had hand sanitizers placed out. Currently they are working together to make buffet cafeterias 100% safe for the hotel guests: safety is important for all of us especially regarding the touch-free service and keeping the suggested social distance.   The Farmers’ Market of Hévíz and Other Attractions Since 4 May, Hévíz has started to revive: the terraces of the restaurants and cafés are starting to open up, the windows of stores are being reorganised. Parks and playgrounds are also open, the new plants and flowers for the summer were also set up in the flowerbeds. Soon you will be able to find your favourite ice cream at the best ice cream parlour in the city, at the Rózsakert Restaurant. Soon the best wines will be also available at the cellars and restaurants at the Egregy vineyards. The Farmers’ Market of Hévíz is also open with the regular working hours three times a week; however, between 9 and 11 am only people over 65 years old can purchase the fresh fruits and vegetables. At the market, the use of face masks is compulsory! For the re-opening of the museums and the cinema we still have to wait. Events still cannot be organised, however, the local government is trying to find a solution so the streets of Hévíz can be filled up with music again with avoiding the big gatherings as well. The Tourinform Office of Hévíz is still only open via telephone or e-mail. The office is set to be open again in the second half of May, until then feel free to contact our collegaues who help guests gladly! tartalom: + 1 On the occasion of Advent more and more Christmas lights go up also this year in Hévíz. In addition to the festive decorations of public places, service providers also await the visiting guests with more and more beautiful shop windows and decorated houses. The eye-catching Christmas lights, the decorations, which are sometimes traditional, sometimes  romantic and lovely  or in many cases made of using natural materials, the Christmas tree of the town and the Advent wreath together create the Christmas atmosphere of Hévíz.  This Advent, the Hévíz TDM Association also announced a Christmas decoration contest titled „A brilliant idea!”, for which anyone could enter, who felt that he/she offered customers a really gorgeus christmas window display.   The jury took a walk around the town in the afternoon of 4th December in order to rate the shop windows, and announced its rating points in several categories, such as elegance, harmonic appearence, style, use of natural materials, surprising, funny or fabulous ideas. The general public could vote for the service provider who would won the Audience Award based on the pictures shared by the participants on the website www.facebook.com/heviz.info. Awards were given out in a total of 4 categories.  I. Along with the lake, the traditional medicine of Hévíz, which has never been this successful, has also become Hungarikum. The healing effect of the bath culture of Hévíz is legendary throughout Europe, the curative power of the thermal water attracts masses of people who would like to be cured next to the western edge of Lake Balaton. The Managing Director of Tourism Non-profit Ltd. of Hévíz, Horváth Orsolya said that the timing of the Therapy's branding was a special pleasure for the town, as it was 220 years ago this year that the first bathhouse had been built on the lake. Recently, the European Spas Association has awarded Hévíz the Innovative Spa & Health Resort Destination award. The ceremony took place in Vichy, France at the end of May. The aim of the European Innovation Award is to recognise and introduce new ideas, instruments and processes of spa towns worldwide. Every year, a winning town per category can be awarded. During the decision, the jury takes into account the originality and effect of the innovation, the practicality of the innovation’s introduction, the measurability of benefits, as well as their applicability. Both of the innovations of Hévíz explained in the application met these criteria. In the summer of 2015, town Hévíz created its own trademark based on the healing effects of Lake Hévíz in favour of the accreditation of the 220-year-old treatments. The base of the Traditional Hévíz Therapy is the medicinal water, which, due to its rich mineral content, is particularly effective in the treatment of musculoskeletal disorders.  During the Traditional Hévíz Therapy, the original, complex cure of Hévíz is carried out in order that the patients, according to their individual condition, can receive the most effective cure. So far, 9 service providers of Hévíz, who have the technical background for providing the traditional healing methods, have earned the qualification certification for offering the traditional therapy. The other innovation, which is unique nationally and also worth for international attention, is the unique tender developed for private accommodation providers to improve the quality of private accommodation.
