Lake Hévíz is not only a world-famous thermal lake in Europe, but also a unique natural area that provides habitat for exceptional flora and fauna. The guided tour of the Water Lily Nature Trail and the Canopy Walkway offers visitors the opportunity to explore the formation, ecological functioning, and natural treasures of the Lake Hévíz Nature Protection Area with professional guidance.
A Unique Natural Environment in Hévíz
The uniqueness of Lake Hévíz lies in the fact that its thermal water originates from precipitation that fell more than 12,000 years ago. The lake’s continuous water supply and constant temperature have created a special microclimate that supports the survival of many rare and protected species.
Thanks to the warm water and the surrounding marshlands, the ecosystem around the lake is considered unique in Hungary. The area plays an important role in preserving natural habitats and maintaining biodiversity.
