Hiking Walking tours do not require any preparation or sports equipment. Tourist keen on nature may explore the area abounding in woods even individually. The West- Balaton Region, within that the Small-Balaton and the Balaton Highlands with their unique natural values as well as Hévíz and its surroundings rich in forests provide great opportunities for the tourists who are willing to find a few days for wandering the countryside. These days walking with special poles, called Nordic walking, is getting more and more popular.We recommend this activity primarily for our elderly visitors, since you burden not only your legs but you can set the upper part of your body in motion as well. Nordic walking can be pursued anywhere. Of course, the best choice is walking outdoors, enjoying the fresh air in a pleasant environment close to nature. Such conditions enhance the beneficial effects of the Nordic walking; it relieves stress and improves stamina and gait. The most popular Nordic walking route – a 6-km-long tour on the route Hévíz Véderdő (shelter forest) – Nemesbük – Egregy winery row – may be covered within one and a half hours. With cycle Hévíz and its surroundings provide you with good cycling facilities; there is a number of built cycle tracks and marked cycle routes. While cycling, you can get to know the towns and superb landscapes of the Balaton Highlands, the volcanic hills and the valleys hiding between the shore hills as well as the wildlife of the Small Balaton. You can hire a bike in various places, including tourist offices, hotels and even guest houses. Our short tours could be enjoyable for anybody. Speed is not essential on our short tours. Most of the tours are led on cycle paths, minor roads with low traffic or on well passable dirt roads. This new flight opens up new markets for the whole Balaton region. According to the plans the first plane lands on 4th May 2013 initally with 76 seats on board. The weekly flights from May to October establish a fast connection between the Northern European countries and the Western Hungarian spa towns and Lake Balaton.     The Riga International Airport is an important transport station (so called hub) for Northern European passengers. AirBaltic carries 3,300,000 passengers a year to more than 50 destinations. It can offer a new holiday and spa destination primarily for its Norwegian, Finnish and Swedish passengers with the connection to Hévíz-Balaton Airport.  According to the previous market research from the rigorous Scandinavian areas there is great interest in the thermal baths during spring and autumn and in Lake Balaton during the summer season. The flight offers a convenient connection also from Russia.   Papp Gábor – the mayor of Hévíz– said, that the Hévíz-Balaton Airport Ltd., which is 100 % local government owned, is prepared for the flights of AirBaltic. To ensure the stable operation of the airport it is essential to increase the number of flights. To do so, the first successfully concluded agreement resulted in the Riga – Hévíz/Balaton flight. Reaching new clientele gives an opportunity to extend the composition of international visitors in the region. A comprehensive marketing campaign is prepared for it. Hévíz and in a wider sense the Western Hungarian spa towns will be introduced as health tourism destinations in the Northern European market in close cooperation with the Hungarian Tourism Plc. In recent days one of the most significant milestones in the life of the town is that the lake has been declared Hungarikum, therefore the cup of Hévíz cannot be knocked off the table of national prestige anymore. Along with the lake, the traditional medicine of Hévíz, which has never been this successful, has also become Hungarikum. The healing effect of the bath culture of Hévíz is legendary throughout Europe, the curative power of the thermal water attracts masses of people who would like to be cured next to the western edge of Lake Balaton. Here, visitors spend more than a million nights annually. The Managing Director of Tourism Non-profit Ltd. of Hévíz, Horváth Orsolya said that the timing of the Therapy's branding was a special pleasure for the town, as it was 220 years ago this year that the first bathhouse had been built on the lake. In the course of these two centuries the Traditional Hévíz Therapy has simply become a brand. The qualification certificates related to the Therapy were handed over by the Mayor of Hévíz, Papp Gábor and the Managing Director of the Tourism Ltd., Horváth Orsolya. In addition to bathing in medicinal water, the basic element of the Therapy are mud bath and weight bath. As additional treatment, the consumption of the medicinal water from a drinking-fountain is also a part of the healing process, as well as massages, movement therapies, and physio- and hydro therapies too. The duration of the therapy is two weeks in a standard case. Professionals, specialised in this area, has worked on the development of the standardised Therapy, the fruit of their work is the establishment of a unique healing system. In the qualification of the institutes providing the cure prominent doctors has acted, such as the Medical Director of Spa Hévíz and Saint Andrew's Hospital for Rheumatic Diseases, Dr. Mándó Zsuzsanna, the Sports Doctor and Rheumatologist of NaturMed Hotel Carbona**** superior, Dr. Major Zoltán and the Chief Physician of the Hotel Európa fit****superior, Dr. Moll Veronika, who happens to be the inventor of weight bath, Dr. Moll Károly's daughter. The practitioners of the Traditional Hévíz Therapy will be entitled to use the official logo of the therapy, every institution, which has the sufficient professional, therapeutic background and medical infrastructure (pool with medicinal water, weight bath, facilities for mud packing, etc.), will be able to do so. This means that besides the young wine goose will also enrich the menu offerings this year.   Main ingredient: Aszófőer Welschriesling from the Fodorvin winery The title “Wine of the City of Hévíz 2021” went to the 2020 Aszófőer Welschriesling from the Fodorvin winery. The competition took place on July 7 in the restaurant of the Hotel Spa Hévíz with the participation of an expert jury. Our jury was not mistaking, since they truly got the best: the Aszófőer Welschriesling by Fodorvin was again selected as the winner of the Italian Riesling category at the Parliament's Wine Chest in October  2021 from among 218 wines. The family cellar of the Fodorvin winery was built in 1858 in Aszófő, in the Vörösmáli vineyard, where they currently manage 9 hectares as a family business. The reductively produced wine has a pronounced greenish-yellow color, and its aroma is dominated by citric and vegetable notes. The full taste is complemented by a pleasant acidity. He happily agreed to join our charity concert event which is naturally for a good cause: the offerings made at the concert will be entirely donated to the children living in the Subcarpathean area of Ukraine. László Kiss the dean and vicar of Hévíz was also happy to present the Holy Spirit Church as location, and he will also help to deliver the donations to Ukraine through the Catholic Charity Service.   The programme of the special event will be: Bach: Prelude and fugue in B minor Pachelbel: Chaconne in F minor Mozart: Fantasia in F minor Franck: Prelude, Fugue & Variation in B minor Liszt: Prelude and Fugue on B-A-C-H   The concert will start at 7 pm on 19 March in the Holy Spirit Church in Hévíz. The attendance is free of charge, but don't forget to support the good cause!   The seasonal organ concerts will start in the city from 20 April and they will last until mid-October. This year some new guests will be also introduced to the crowd of Hévíz like Ingrid Kertesi (sopran opera singer), Szilárd Hajas (flutist), or Tamás Lozsányi (organist). tartalom: + 1 Hévíz Turisztikai Np. Kft. participates in this year's Veszprém-Balaton 2023 European Capital of Culture events with its program series Forest Mystery. The Forest Mystery, or Game in Green! the main concept of events in Hévíz is to use natural spaces for cultural events where people, nature and art can connect! It was obvious that the main location of the programs to be realized is the Northern Nature Reserve next to Lake Hévíz, where micro-concerts, children's performances and geobotanical walks are organized several times between April and October. One of the special elements of this series of events the pART forest exhibition opened on August 4, 2023 at 16:00. Anyone who knows the area and has seen the exhibition - which is not only the location but also the theme of the forest itself - can easily understand the choice of title. The pART forest exhibition is located on a forest path next to the northern stream of Lake Hévíz. By walking in the forest, we can get to know the hidden beauties that are usually difficult to see with the naked eye, or remain hidden during an average walk, through an exhibition showing the wildlife of the nature reserve, selected from more than 60 pictures. Pictures of wonderful birds, special plants, small animals and bugs can be seen on the pictures stretched on and between trees. A significant part of the works are paintings, the work of nature illustrator Márton Zsoldos. The exhibition also includes some photos taken by nature conservationists Előd Búzás and Gábor Sinka, here, in the immediate vicinity of Lake Hévíz. The opening of the forest exhibition is a wooden gate with the motto of the exhibition: "Open to nature!" On behalf of the organizer Hévíz Turisztikai Np Kft., Tamás Pálffy emphasized that the aspects of nature conservation, sustainability and green events were taken into account when organizing the entire Forest Mystery program series. Every event tries to leave the smallest possible ecological footprint, and in all its elements it strives to bring people, nature and the cultural experiences that can be experienced in nature closer to each other in such a way that they interfere with nature only to a small extent, but in no case in a harmful way. Recycled wooden picture frames donated by local residents were also used for this exhibition, and sugar asparagus was used for mounting. The forest exhibition is expected to be on display until September 30, but this may even change due to the use of natural materials and the development of weather conditions. In this case, durability was not even a goal. However, the gate remains! Because whether there is a pART Forest Exhibition in the Hévíz Véderdø or not, the message is always valid: Open to nature!
