tartalom: + 1 Unfortunately nowadays we are exposed to various chemicals and environmental impacts. Mainly our hands suffer the most from these impacts. Paraffin treatment is recommended for the treatment of dry, chapped and stained hands. The treatment starts with a hand wash, which is followed by rubbing. After the removal of the devitalised epidermic cells, the skin absorbs easier the lotion used during hand massage. The next step is dipping the hands in warmed up paraffin, which sticks to the skin and the hands are covered in a plastic bag and gloves. Guest is relaxing for about 20 minutes in the wrap. After that the gloves together with the paraffin are removed. Finally the hands are covered in skin-protection lotion. The treatment does not only treat the skin surface, but the active agents are also absorbed by deeper layers of the skin through the pores thus increasing blood circulation and oxygen supply of the tissues. The word paraffin comes from the composition of the Latin words of parum and affinis. Paraffin may be liquid, gas or solid. In clear format it is solid, odourless, colourless, white material with a waxy touch. Melting point is around 47 to 64 °C.

lead: The word Tepidarium means „warming room”. Tepidarium is one of the Roman type steam baths.

tartalom: + 1 A Tepidarium treatment releases tension; there are no limitations for the duration of the stay, but a minimum duration of 30 minutes is recommended. Temperature of the bathing premises is between 37 to 39 °C. Tepidarium is a facility, which has a nice tender impact on the blood circulation. It is considered as a regenerating bath between cold and hot baths. Romans in the ancient times used Tepidarium as a preparatory room for steam bathing. You can feel a nice sensation in the premises with medium humidity. Tepidarium stimulates and strengthens the immune system without straining the cardiovascular system. During the Tepidarium treatment stress is released and the body is regenerated. Tepidarium has also got a preventative and healing function.  Tepidarium is also suitable for patients, who are not advised to use sauna. Interesting facts The air of the premises can be filled up with herbal additives or essential oils, which further enhances the relaxing impact. Romans in the ancient times covered the walls of the Tepidarium with „Tabul” stone. As a result of the heat, gases are released from the charcoal, which penetrate the rocks and have a good impact on the body. Nowadays the Tepidarium cabin walls are covered with tiles and marble.

On your way you will we pass Jesus’ Heart Church (Jézus szíve templom) at the end of Zrínyi Street or you can visit the Roman excavation site at the end of Attila Street. In the evenings the wine cellars and restaurants built in between the rows of vines are magnets for the guests of the town. This is a great place for the guests - exhausted after bathing – to charge up with a nice dinner or enjoy a wine tasting event while listening to live music. Restaurants offer not only traditional Hungarian specialties, but also international dishes on their open air terraces or in the cosy wine cellars. If you carry on down Dombföldi Street among the wine cellars, you can reach the Arpadian Age Church, which is one the most beautiful built cultural heritage of Hévíz. From April to October you can reach it with the Dottó sightseeing train, or by car to Egregyi Street.

tartalom: + 1 While I’m still catching my breath, my soul has already arrived. Janett and I run across the wooden bridge from the parking lot, trying to catch the last bit of an immensely beautiful sunset. The flaring red, and rather huge disk of the sun, is just dipping beyond the horizon to the West. A feeling of stillness floods through us, much like the little waves gently lapping against the lake shore in front of us. I take a look at Janett. My dear friend is just the same: After both of us have taken the last photographs, there is nothing left but to enjoy the peace of the moment. … Talking about Hévíz is like talking about the mighty stage of nature that surrounds it. A place where the water buffalo roams. Where the famous, nearby Balaton lake has closed for winter, pulling another lake centre stage: The steaming hot lake of Hévíz. Yes, steam rises as we approach the spa town of Hévíz. “So where exactly are you headed to in Hungary?”, my friend Gaby asks me ahead of my trip. “Oh, Hévíz”, she sighs, visibly pleased: “What a beautiful spot. Ursula and I have been there many times … You will like it for sure!” Travelling to Hévíz from Vienna, about a three hour trip southeast of the Austrian capital all the way into Western Hungary, already exudes a feeling of relaxation. There are no fast lanes or highways in this part of the country, so all you have to do is sit back, relax and enjoy the landscape around you. “You are lucky”, our German driver Volker smiles: “I go to Hévíz at least once a year. So glad we all decided to go on the same dates!” Janett and I have found Volker through a rideshare platform called “BlaBlaCars”, popular in Germany as a perfect alternative to trains, buses or taking your own car. Nice. Hévíz, then. As we arrive by the lake, the setting sun paints the rising pearls of steam with the last bits of colours for the day. “But what the … is this!?”, I gasp, suddenly torn from my slumber in the backseat of Volker’s car. In front of me, dozens of people are swimming in a natural lake obviously pleasant to bath in, despite the outside temperature being close to zero degrees. Mother Nature herself provides the energy for heating the healing sulphur waters. Quite the story: Lake Hévíz, a pleasant 26°C warm, is filled with healing source waters that lie buried about 900 metres below the Earth’s surface  … … framed by flaring fall colours such as these trees, an image that has me travel right back to the beautiful “Indian Summer” in Canada ..! Hévíz is a spa town rich in tradition … … their healing mineral and sulphur waters used throughout various spa & health institutions, and wellness hotels such as the prestigious NaturMed Hotel Carbona here … … a hotel that also offers exciting treatments such as the “Cryo-Sauna”: Janett volunteers to being exposed to -170°C for a very short time, said to stimulate your circulation and give you a boost of energy! Janett … We are waiting for your verdict on your travel blog! That day, I decide to keep my clothes on and only pose for a funny photograph in front of Lake Hévíz! Hévíz, what a discovery. In my memory, I can still feel the healing waters giving my entire skin a healthy, nutritious hug … … every evening, Janett and I are off for an hour or two of spa-stillness at the Kolping family hotel in Hévíz, perfect for both the kids and families as well as the odd “tired-crashing travel blogger” looking to unwind. The entire accommodation area is made up of single bungalows with reed roofs, adding to a familiar feeling of comfort from across the border, in the Austrian Burgenland province. And everyone out here speaks German! For a multi linguist like myself, it is almost a shame I speak no Hungarian whatsoever in return, but hey: Hospitality, appreciation of nature, and the good food & drinks we find here with our new Hungarian friends also speak a language of their own. Check this out. Talking about similarities between Western Hungary and Eastern Austria, one cannot fail to notice the food: Paprika goulash time it is – an all-time favourite on both sides of the border … … where the surrounding park beckons for a stroll (or a sit) … … modern holiday bungalows await … … as well as a chance to dive into the area’s hot mineral water pools each night. Around Hévíz, you will find prairie buffalos next to imperial castles and bustling farmers’ markets. Quite the Hungarian heritage & charm! I love visiting (farmers’) markets. All around the world, they always teach you about an important aspect of the local cultural history. What do people eat? What do they sell? Which “language do they speak”? How is the atmosphere? What is being offered? Who strikes up a bargain? And how? Janett and I decide to take on a feast of rather delicious “Kürtöskálacs”; a kind of sugar-bread-roll that goes perfectly with two glasses of hot, mulled wine. Beautiful second breakfast at Hévíz market. Just a little later, our local insider Krisztina drives us over into neighbouring Keszthely, famous for its imperial palace as well as being right by the shore line of Lake Balaton. Both places are worth returning to in the spring or summer, as we imagine all the green spaces full of flowers, happy vacationists in T-Shirts and us in summer dresses ..! At the same time, it is rather nice walking around without the crowds now .. The following is a list of travel tips on where to go once you are here: Hévíz market: Definitely worth your while … … where we recommend you to try delicious Hungarian sweet bread, and hot wine if you wish. Just about a twenty minutes drive and you will find yourself in front of Lake Balaton, Western Hungary’s famous steppe lake … … the advantage being only few visitors during low season … … same here at Keszthely Palace … … which we are able to visit almost exclusively on our own. Do visit the palace library: A magical spot filled with old books some of which are many centuries old ..! And if you, like us that day, wish to freshen up a little … … consider heading to Télikert Restaurant: Great food, friendly staff & a generous, urban flair here at Lake Balaton. If pure nature is what you prefer … … nature, horses, and romance … … then go visit the local buffalo farm, where you can learn a thing or two about the noble prairie dwellers and appreciate the local landscape around you! lead: From among many prestigious awards, the Thermal Lake Bath in Hévíz has been honoured with the EuropeSpa MED seal this time.

tartalom: + 1 The EuropeSpa MED certificate is a high-quality European quality assurance system that is awarded to medical and wellness service providers. The certificate can be received by the medical and wellness service providers that comply with the strict quality, safety and service requirements.   The certificate demonstrates that visitors can use the services of the site with confidence, since they will receive real high quality in the field of therapy, accommodation, gastronomy, hygiene and spa services.    The Thermal Lake Bath of Hévíz was inspected in February 2017 by the European Spas Association, which awards the certificates. In the course of the inspection, the Lake Bath met the criteria of EuropeSpa MED qualification, so it received the certification at an award ceremony with three other Hungarian baths on 5th May 2017.    Hévíz’s unique and internationally renowned thermal lake, the natural healing factors and the more than 200-year-old professional medical background have all contributed to the fact that the treasure of Hévíz could comply with the strict requirements of the seal.   What is European Spas Association?   The awarding organisation, ESPA (European Spas Association) consists of more than 1,500 European spas and health resorts. Each day of the Easter Festival the visitors awaitwith fairs, playhouses and traditional food, of course.         30 April -1 May | Hévíz at the Turn of the Century The event, which was started in 2011, evokes the ‘golden years’ of Hévíz, a period that lasted from the 1860s to the 1930s. The town tries to recall the atmosphere of the palmy days of peace in every possible way during the event: organ-grinders wearing tails and top hat play music in the streets, ladies dressed in hoop skirt and hat walk in the flowering park leading to the thermal lake. The event will be opened by a costume parade accompanied with live music and dance, in the course of which the professions and trades of the period will be presented.   9-10 May | 5th Running Festival of Hévíz The runners who manage to run 4-14-21 km will not only get to experience a well-organised event but they also will be gifted T-Shirts, medals and an unforgettable experience! The half marathon can be done individually or in a relay.         11 May | Giro d'Italia in Hévíz One of the world's most famous bicycle races comes to Hungary! The parish feast is held in her honour on Mary Magdalene’s Day every year. Real festive atmosphere with arts and crafts fair, carousel, shooting gallery and excellent culinary offers are provided for the visitors.     1-2 August | Nostalgia Weekend At the nostalgia weekend, the centre of Hévíz will be filled with chamber ensembles, pianists recalling the atmosphere of old cafés, while couples are dancing the waltz all around. Oldtimer Car Festival This year, the festival is organised for the third time, so we make an attempt to break the record of the biggest number of OT license plated participants! The event starts off with the traditional harvest parade and continues with the harvest. Taste delicious wines with traditional music playing in the background.         26-27 September | Fair of Handmade Goods We await you with a weekend filled with local handmade crafts in September too!           7-8 November | St. Martin’s Day and Family Festival The popular goose race kicks off the St. Martin’s Day Family Festival every year. In addition to children’s programmes, handcraft workshops and folk playground await visitors. The new wine will be blessed in the Holy Spirit Church. It will be followed by a lamp-lit march from the church to the location of the festival. tartalom: + 1 Background: Every year since 2009, the "European Best Destination" competition has been held. In the course of the competition, the public can decide which city of the top 20 tourist paradises in Europe is worthy of the title of "best destination". The prize was established to promote European tourism and culture, in cooperation with more than 300 tourism partners and the EDEN network set up by the European Commission. This year's ‘European Best Destination 2020’ vote ended at noon on 5 th February 2020, with over 600,000 votes on Europe's top destinations. As Hévíz was competing with favoured cities such as Paris, Madrid or Vienna, even takingpart in this great competition was a great pleasure for Hévíz. The result: In this exclusive competition, Hévíz finished in the top fifteen, ahead of, among others Prague and Madrid. The 12th place that Hévíz achieved shows that Hévíz received the most votes among the spa towns in the nine-year history of the competition, so Hévíz is one of the greatest spa brands in Europe. During the competition, - in addition to domestic votes - many votes were received from German, English, Norwegian, Austrian, Russian and Asian travellers. This clearly proves that Hévíz is a prestigious tourist destination of these nations.     Its significance: Hévíz is not only famous for the world's largest natural thermal lake; but for years, more and more guests have been attracted by the high quality of hotel services, excellent gastronomy and leisure facilities, which are becoming increasingly popular with families and groups of friends. Hévíz boasts the title of European Capital of Well-Being in 2020, based on the results of the competition. Hévíz is listed all year round on Europe's most visited tourist website as a highly recommended destination: it has six million website visitors and ninety thousand Facebook followers. Tourist activity increased by an average of 15% in the settlements participating in the competition in previous years. We would like to say thank you to everyone who voted for Hévíz and by doing so strengthened Hévíz's position in this outstanding league. True to our promise, among those who participated in our game related to the voting, on 14th February, on Valentine's Day, we will draw a wellness holiday for a couple in Hévíz. The city became peaceful and silent in no matter of time. By the middle of May, the long awaited moment has arrived: life gets back to normal in Hévíz! Shops are already open and terraces of cafés started to get full of life slowly. Lake Hévíz has been open since 9 May, so visitors can swim again in the 30°C lake under the blue sky. The first guests have already arrived in private accommodations. Four hotels will be open by the Whitsun weekend, however, reservations are accepted in every hotel. The hotels are very flexible regarding rescheduling the previously booked dates. During these two months everyone was busy with renovating and renewing so they could provide their guests a better environment than ever.  The safety precautions and hygiene restrictions are taken very seriously everywhere. Restaurants like Az Én Anyósom, Liget Restaurant, Vilmos Cellar and Római Cellar are already open and await guests both inside and on their terraces with keeping the necessary safety and hygiene restrictions.  The restaurant of Zala Springs is also ideal to have a good lunch after playing golf. MEDIEVAL CASTLE RUINS FROM SMALL ONES TO LARGER ONES OFFERING A FULL-DAY EXPERIENCE If you have already been told about hills, mountains, forests, and great views… starting from Hévíz, many ruins of castles can be discovered during a day trip. The nearest is the ruins of Rezi Castle, located only 10 km away, which is an easy walk from Hévíz. A little further away, on Tátika Hill, there are also the remains of a castle in the middle of the forest. If you set off in the direction of Lake Balaton, you will reach Szigliget in 30 minutes, where not only the ruins of a castle but a complex, interactive medieval knight's castle offer a great program for families. What is more, the castle has been renovated in recent months, so it will reopen on 20th June. You can also take a day trip to Sümeg or Nagyvázsony or you can even climb the ruins of Csobánc Castle. If you are looking for the nearest small castle ruin, you will find it on the Main Square (Fő tér) in Keszthely, in the Castle Garden next to the Church of Our Lady of Hungary. ACTIVE ADVENTURES FOR ADRENALINE ADDICTS If you look for active experiences outdoors, and besides that, come to Hévíz with children, you do not have to go far for a little adventure. Children and adults can test their courage on the ropes course in the Tavirózsa Adventure Park located on the confines of Hévíz. tartalom: + 1 We gathered the programs that await you at the end of the year in Hévíz.   The Lights of Advent in the City and Celebration at the Farmer's Market of Hévíz The inner city of Hévíz is filled with lights of Advent in December. A Christmas tree, a Betlehem and an Advent Wreath is placed at the Festetics Square. A candle is lit on each Sunday on the Advent Wreath. The promenade will be filled with wooden houses, atmospheric music and enticing smells. A fair of handmade products and children programs will wait everyone at Moll Square. On the Farmers' Market there will be special gastronomy programs on each Saturday morning. On 30 December, a Pig Slaughter will be held at the Farmer's Market of Hévíz. On the 31 December a New Year's Eve party will be taken place in the tent with concerts and street festival.     Holiday concerts and the best performers at the hotels of Hévíz If you decide to stay one of the hotels in Hévíz during the holiday season, many program wil guarantee your entertainment. During the day, you may enjoy the relaxing wellness sections of the hotels, while in the evening the finest dishes and the best performers will make sure you enjoy your stay. In NaturMed Hotel Carbona, guests can enjoy the piano play on each weekend of  the Advent. From 24 December each new day will bring about a new program as well: goulash party, Dynamic Band in the ball room, ham and champagne tasting, sauna seances and gingerbread decorating will await the guests. Éva Csepregi, Viki Singh, Bálint Gájer, the Bon-Bon band and a samba show will entertain guests in the holiday season.     The team of Hotel Európa fit also made sure that hotel guests would have the best time during there stay during the holidays. Between 24 December and 31 December music programs will be held each day. Bettina Bódis, Endre Varga, the Happy Dixieland Band, the Silver Duo, Miki Varga and his band will also perform. The guest performers of the New Year's Eve party will be Veca Janicsák and the Ritmo Conga Show. If you decide to come with your whole family, children animations and programs will be held each day for the smallest ones. The Korona Restaurant makes a thematic New Year's Eve party each year. This year a Moulin Rogue inspired party will await guests, so it is better to make a table reservation now if you want to make sure to enjoy one of the best parties in the city. French music, period dresses, French dishes and drinks will make sure to make you feel like you are in Paris. Make sure to arrive in an appropriate dress or suit.     One of the best destination for the holidays, especially if you are arriving with your kids is the Kolping Hotel & Spa Family Resort in Alsópáhok. tartalom: + 1 Interactive concert by Re-Folk Band Show By Bernadett Gregor and Attila Csengeri Easter Fair Happy Peacetimes of Hévíz Beer Promenade Wine & Gastro Promenade    THE FIRST FESTIVAL OF THE YEAR  We await our guests in mid-March with quality programs. From 12 March to 14 March, you will find many interesting programs that let’s us start spring and the season in the city. On 12 March don’t miss the concert of the band Re-Folk. On Sunday, Bernadett Gregor and Attila Csengeri will welcome the audience with their show “Jöjj kedvesem...” (“Come my Love…”). The concerts will take place in the Ball Room of the City Hall, attendance is free of charge, however, pre-registration is necessary. On 14 March we will celebrate our national holiday with a torchlight procession.   EASTER WILL BE FULL OF SURPRISES  We hope April will bring us a typical nice spring weather for our Easter Fair. From 15 April to 18 April the pedestrian street will be full of life and programs. In addition to the stands with wine and crafts, there will be interesting things for all age groups. Bouncy castles, folk games, egg hunts, activities for the little ones, mystical light shows and concerts for the grown-ups. The Zsödi Duó and Lia Siklódi Szabó and the party band HelloKids will ensure the good atmosphere.    AN OLD FAVOURITE WILL COME BACK  We have been waiting for this for a long time and this year we can finally host our traditional program “The Happy Peacetimes of Hévíz” from 30 April to 1 May. This year our dear program will be held for the tenth time. Of course our traditional parade will take place with vintage cars and classic carriages. Photo booths, games, delicious food and drinks stands will be all around the streets filled with Dixie music to ensure the atmosphere. The real highlight, however, will be the concert by the Mystery Gang. As part of the celebrations on May 1st, we will commemorate the proclamation of Hévíz as a city.    EVEN JULY WILL NOT BE BORING  For beer lovers, we recommend our event in July: from 14 July to 17 July, the pedestrian zone will be filled with famous and handcrafted beers. In addition to the drink, of course, the individual snacks that go with the respective beer should not be missing. After some drinks and some food, head towards the stage on Rákóczi Street, where concerts will heat up the atmosphere. More details about the program will be revealed soon, keep an eye out.    AUGUST IS ALL ABOUT WINE  For the summer heat, our crowd favourite Wine and Gastro Promenade will return too. For the program we await lovers of wine and everyone who would like to feel how a big festival feels like in Hévíz. In addition to tasting the most delicious wines, there will be many concerts and programs for children as well. Details to come soon!   We've only mentioned the biggest names and festivals, but of course there will be other concerts and parties throughout the year. Not only local wineries were invited to the competition, but many other wineries from different parts of the country. 25 producers from 12 wine regions of Zala and Balaton submitted a total of 50 items for the gastronomic battle. 22 grape varieties - Welsh Riesling, Savignon Blanc, "Ezerjó", Zenit, Patria, "Cserszegi fűszeres" - represented the selection.   The process The wines were judged on 22 April at the NaturMed Hotel Carbona. The items were first judged by a professional jury. The main patron of the event was Ágnes Diána Sárdy PhD, Director of the MATE Buda Campus, Associate Professor. The members of the jury were Barna Szőke PhD, chaired by MATE, Deputy Research Director of the Institute of Viticulture and Enology of Badacsony, Barnabás Kovács PhD, assistant professor of wine, Sándor Viniczai, editor-in-chief of wine booklets, Zsolt Vaszily CEO of Carbona, Tamás Borbély - President of the Badacsony Wine Region, Wine Producer of the Year, owner of the Borbély Family Winery, Winemaker, and last but not least Mrs. Beatrix Sütőné Tüttő was representing the city of Hévíz. The wine was selected with the usual blind tasting. This means that only the type and year were given to the jury members. Well-known Hungarian experts evaluated the wines using an electronic 100-point grading system. During the scoring, in a close competition, 7 lots were finally presented to the social jury, who judged the wines using the same system.     Who became the winner? Cezar Winery Kis Balaton - Savignon Blanc 2021 vintage white wine.   What does the winner get? In addition to wearing the honorary title for a full year, they will have the opportunity to present themselves at the 4-day Wine and Gastro Festival in August. The honorary diplomas accompanying the title will be presented at the jHappy Peace Times on April 30, 2022 from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm.   Where can I taste / buy it? The winning wine is already on the market and has already received its special decorative label.
