Essential oils may have various relaxing or refreshing effects.     In the aroma-therapy cabin essential oils are inhaled or penetrate the skin and have their beneficial effects: prevent the spreading of bacteria and fungus; clear the respiratory passages; stimulate the blood supply of the skin and muscular tissue, thus alleviate pain and inflammation; beneficial for the digestive and secretory organs and they have a relaxing effect. tartalom: + 1 As the cold weather has set in, we feel the winter more and more at our doorstep. Although there is no snow, the frost greets the beams of the rising sun more often. November is the month when we have a little time left to victual for chilly days. As the weather and the seasons change, so vary the sellers’ goods at Hévíz Market. Besides the usual wares - handmade goods, cheese, bakery products, meat, autumn fruit and vegetables - there are also cakes, decorations, food and drinks displayed, which spread the advent and Christmas atmosphere. The sweet smell of roasted chestnut, pumpkin or hot mulled wine and chimney cake fill the air. According to traditions new wine can be drunk after Saint Martin’s Day, so the nectar of this year’s harvest can be found also in the offer of the vineries selling at the market.     It is a part of the advent preparation that we set up our surroundings with decorations and soft lights. Sweet smelling candles, lampions, advent wreaths, decorations with angels and bells can’t be missing from the stands of the stall-keepers – of course all the goods are made of the sellers’ own material and by hand. Gingerbread, chimney cake, “bejgli” (poppy seed or walnut roll)… - are the essential cakes of advent and the Christmas feeling.   Walking among the craftsmen, antique dealers, wood-carvers, potters, textile sellers you might also find the perfect Christmas gift. You can choose from the offer of more than 300 sellers even in wintertime. Even the cold weather cannot frighten away the producers and the costumers. The market is very lively and busy even on cold days. Nordic walking can be pursued anywhere. Of course, the best choice is walking outdoors, enjoying the fresh air in a pleasant environment close to nature. Such conditions enhance the beneficial effects of the Nordic walking; it relieves stress and improves stamina and gait. The most popular Nordic walking route – a 6-km-long tour on the route Hévíz Véderdő (shelter forest) – Nemesbük – Egregy winery row – may be covered within one and a half hours. lead: After being closed for more than 7 weeks, Lake Hévíz reopens its gates on 9 May, at 9 o’clock.

tartalom: + 1 With taking the right safety measurements, the Lake opens only its beach side for the time being. The Spa asks its visitors to follow the rules regarding hygiene and use only the showers which are located outside on the beach.  The indoor areas are being sanitized continuously, but they are not open yet for guests. Lake Hévíz is in the unique situation that the 4.4 hectare of natural, clean thermal water constantly changes and cleans itself naturally due to its discharge rate of 410 litres per second. The temperature of the lake revolves around 30 °C as of right now, thanks to the thermal springs inside the lake. This way outdoor swimming and bathing is really pleasant right now. Lake Hévíz is also surrounded by a 6.6-hectare forest, where guests coming to Hévíz can easily avoid crowds and be in the fresh air while enjoying themselves in the shadows of the wonderful swamp cypresses.     The Hotels Are Preparing to Open too Hotels in Hévíz are accepting reservations from Whitsun, however, most of the hotels will stay closed during the weeks before that.  Currently the staffs of the hotels are working behind closed doors; they are making everything in preparation for the arriving guests so they can enjoy their stay in the cleanest and safest environment. For the time being, the most important thing is safety. All the hotels do everything in their power to follow the safety rules made by the Hungarian Government and the statements released by the Hungarian Touristic Agency in their COVID guidebook. In Hévíz, there were no problems regarding tidiness in the hotels before the outbreak of the virus either, most restaurants and community centrums had already had hand sanitizers placed out. Currently they are working together to make buffet cafeterias 100% safe for the hotel guests: safety is important for all of us especially regarding the touch-free service and keeping the suggested social distance.   The Farmers’ Market of Hévíz and Other Attractions Since 4 May, Hévíz has started to revive: the terraces of the restaurants and cafés are starting to open up, the windows of stores are being reorganised. Parks and playgrounds are also open, the new plants and flowers for the summer were also set up in the flowerbeds. Soon you will be able to find your favourite ice cream at the best ice cream parlour in the city, at the Rózsakert Restaurant. Soon the best wines will be also available at the cellars and restaurants at the Egregy vineyards. The Farmers’ Market of Hévíz is also open with the regular working hours three times a week; however, between 9 and 11 am only people over 65 years old can purchase the fresh fruits and vegetables. At the market, the use of face masks is compulsory! For the re-opening of the museums and the cinema we still have to wait. Events still cannot be organised, however, the local government is trying to find a solution so the streets of Hévíz can be filled up with music again with avoiding the big gatherings as well. The Tourinform Office of Hévíz is still only open via telephone or e-mail. The office is set to be open again in the second half of May, until then feel free to contact our collegaues who help guests gladly! All in all, the management of the city is very optimistic: if the locals and the arriving guests can maintain the safety measures, life can get back to normal soon and we can enjoy Hévíz as it was before!   Follow us!  Instagram | YouTube

tartalom: + 1 We gathered the programs that await you at the end of the year in Hévíz.   The Lights of Advent in the City and Celebration at the Farmer's Market of Hévíz The inner city of Hévíz is filled with lights of Advent in December. A Christmas tree, a Betlehem and an Advent Wreath is placed at the Festetics Square. A candle is lit on each Sunday on the Advent Wreath. The promenade will be filled with wooden houses, atmospheric music and enticing smells. A fair of handmade products and children programs will wait everyone at Moll Square. On the Farmers' Market there will be special gastronomy programs on each Saturday morning. On 30 December, a Pig Slaughter will be held at the Farmer's Market of Hévíz. On the 31 December a New Year's Eve party will be taken place in the tent with concerts and street festival.     Holiday concerts and the best performers at the hotels of Hévíz If you decide to stay one of the hotels in Hévíz during the holiday season, many program wil guarantee your entertainment. During the day, you may enjoy the relaxing wellness sections of the hotels, while in the evening the finest dishes and the best performers will make sure you enjoy your stay. In NaturMed Hotel Carbona, guests can enjoy the piano play on each weekend of  the Advent. From 24 December each new day will bring about a new program as well: goulash party, Dynamic Band in the ball room, ham and champagne tasting, sauna seances and gingerbread decorating will await the guests. Éva Csepregi, Viki Singh, Bálint Gájer, the Bon-Bon band and a samba show will entertain guests in the holiday season.     The team of Hotel Európa fit also made sure that hotel guests would have the best time during there stay during the holidays. Between 24 December and 31 December music programs will be held each day. Bettina Bódis, Endre Varga, the Happy Dixieland Band, the Silver Duo, Miki Varga and his band will also perform. The guest performers of the New Year's Eve party will be Veca Janicsák and the Ritmo Conga Show. If you decide to come with your whole family, children animations and programs will be held each day for the smallest ones. The Korona Restaurant makes a thematic New Year's Eve party each year. This year a Moulin Rogue inspired party will await guests, so it is better to make a table reservation now if you want to make sure to enjoy one of the best parties in the city. French music, period dresses, French dishes and drinks will make sure to make you feel like you are in Paris. Make sure to arrive in an appropriate dress or suit.     One of the best destination for the holidays, especially if you are arriving with your kids is the Kolping Hotel & Spa Family Resort in Alsópáhok. As in previous years, a rich program will be presented for children and for parents as well. There will be program almost each day: tales, music, and of course fun will wait everyone. Of course Bobo and Mimi will be also there to meet you. For the parents "Dad-relaxing" and "Mom-charging" wellness programs will be offered. During the holidays, Sándor Badár, the Wolf Band, Ede Figura, Irigyhónajmirigy and Péter Aranyosi will also perform. Fireworks, lucky draw, pool and champagne party are not cancelled this year either! You still have some energy left? You can jump, climb and move in the Adrenalin Park at a half price!     In Lotus Therme Hotel & Spa you will find everything that you need for some quality regeneration. Roland Dörnyei's piano evening and Alexandra Wolf's Christmas program will await everyone who would like to enjoy some atmospheric music. Gergő Oláh's concert will make sure you won't get bored during Christmas. A pre-New Year's Eve party will be held by the Fricska Band. Between the two holidays, sauna seances and other hot wellness programs will make sure that you would be fresh for the New Year. Of course some hotels like Bonvital and Ensana Thermal and Aqua like surprises the most, so they have yet to announce their holiday programs. Fine dining and quality concerts are guaranteed in all of the hotels though. lead: On the basis on the latest governmental decision, the Lake is open without any restrictions!

tartalom: + 1 From 3 July 2021, no immunity cards or vaccination papers are required upon entering the Lake. You can book accommodations at any hotels or private accommodations without any limits. Wellness services are opening again, museums, adventure parks, restaurants can be visited by anyone. Masks aren't compulsory anymore either, but please be patient with anyone who still requires you to wear a mask for safety measures. At most places, you will still need to sanitize your hands and keep your distance while queueing. The cancellation of the restrictions applies for not only Hungarian residents but to everyone coming from the Schengen borders meaning Slovakia, Austria, Slovenia, Croatia, Romania, Serbia. Regarding air travel, some safety measures are expected to remain. In the case of Ukraine, the previously accepted measures will stay. From 1 July, the EU green card will be accepted as well which enables EU residents to travel within the EU without any restrictions. Hévíz is full with joy to see travellers coming to the city once more after such a long time. Enjoy the lake and the town, we are happy to see you again!

lead: The project Be Ready (UrBan hEat islands REsilience, prepAreDness and mitigation strategy) addresses the climate change capacities in the Danube Region taking into account ecosystem-based approaches. The common challenge to be tackled is urban heat islands (UHI). The recent unprecedented heat waves demonstrate the acute need to strengthen the preparedness and adaptive capacity of the society to cope with impacts of climate change and foster resilience at city level.

tartalom: + 1 Be Ready aims to:          - provide local and regional authorities with research, assessment and operational instruments to better understand UHI, its drivers, and effects;          - co-create, test and validate jointly developed solutions to mitigate the UHI effects in cities;          - support partner cities to develop and adopt action plans for increased resilience to UHI effects with specific actions to promote green, blue, or white measures. The novel approach to be taken by the project – “green acupuncture” - will allow the partners, both cities and knowledge partners, to take targeted, small but powerful, context-based measures to deal with UHI in critical urban areas. City pilots will test solutions in three areas: “green acupuncture” (vegetation-based interventions); “white acupuncture” (based on innovative surfaces and materials); and “blue acupuncture” (novel uses of water resources). The project main outputs include jointly developed and implemented methodologies and toolkits for UHI risk assessment, data analysis and modelling at city level; co-designed solutions for tackling UHI, tested and peer reviewed in urban environment by 12 pilot cities; a common strategy for improving the climate change preparedness and resilience aimed at local and regional authorities in the Danube region; action plans and transformative strategic outlooks for the participating partners; policy recommendations; a virtual training program with SPOCs; awareness campaigns in 12 countries over the 30-month period. Key for Be Ready is the ClimateSandbox approach that will support participating cities to define and deploy climate-oriented innovations – both on the technological and service side (i.e. content) and on the policy, administrative and spatial planning side (i.e. enabling conditions), through the innovative digital Climate Sandbox Technological and Societal Readiness Tool. The project's ambition is to showcase to decision-makers and other stakeholders across Europe the benefits of adopting solutions in which the environment, simplicity, and aesthetics play a key role as value-generating agents as well as community engagement drivers, throughout the co-design process, acting both at levels of solution definition, development, and deployment. tartalom: + 1 We did not find any description of whether the miners, 200 of them, volunteered for the 5-year scientific observation, having no idea how well they would do. After a thorough medical examination, 400 healthy subjects were selected for the test. Based on experience, the basic premise was that 5 years of hard physical work is very taxing for the body, so miners develop more locomotor complaints after so many years, the number of partial disabilities increases and the rate of illnesses is higher. It is a well-known fact that musculoskeletal diseases are very common among people living unhealthy and/or sedentary lifestyles, as well as people who perform heavy physical work. In this regard, numerous investigations were carried out both at home and abroad in the 1960s and 1970s. What did they want to prove? At the same time, the doctors in Hévíz believed that balneotherapy (performed with water) and physiotherapeutic (performed with movement) cures in Hévíz are useful in preventing such diseases. Preventive treatment can reduce the risk of developing locomotor diseases, workers will spend less time in sick bays, and the cost of their medical treatments will be lower. In 1976, 400 miners were found to be healthy. 200 of them were included in the control group, those who had not been on a medical holiday in Hévíz for 5 years, had not received any health-preserving treatment anywhere. However, the other 200 lucky miners spent 3 weeks in the spa town every year, at the cost of their vacation, where they swam in the warm water of Lake Hévíz, received massage and mud treatments, took part in physical therapy, and received additional treatments. The preventive cures in Hévíz were not only useful and enjoyable for the 200 miners, but the research also ended with very positive results. After 5 years, in 1981, at the then Hévíz State Spa Hospital, it was established that among the 200 miners in the "untreated" control group, significantly more people became disabled and spent significantly more time in the infirmary than those who received preventive treatment. The health status of the regularly treated group clearly remains much better despite the same and equally demanding hard physical work as the control group. But this was not enough proof of the effectiveness of typical Hévíz medicinal water cures! In 1988, another study was conducted at the Hévíz State Spa Hospital, now involving 227 volunteers. In the 1980s, they tried to convince employers why it was worth sending their employees on medical leave. In the case of the 227 people, they were interested in the number of days spent in the patient population. However, the extent of this can mean a significant loss of manpower/a decrease in productivity for a company. They selected 227 patients who were treated with the same locomotor complaint, but 107 of them received medication only, while 120 were treated with a complex spa treatment repeated every year. An astonishing result was achieved in the examined period! The 120 patients who received regular spa treatments spent a total of 885 days in the hospital. In contrast, the 107 members of the control group spent 5,430 days! That's six times the number! This is such a significant difference that it had to be recognized that spa treatments regenerate people much more effectively. Today, it is considered natural that preventive and recreational complex cures and health programs are important not only for those who perform heavy physical work. In Europe, more and more people are participating in so-called manager cures, which serve to regenerate the physical and mental performance of managers who are overburdened with mental work. These are periods of two to three weeks, during which the participants run a lot, swim, eat healthy, and relax, which in many cases includes a digital detox (a period without smart devices).
