tartalom: + 1 In 2015, Hévíz created its own trademark for the accreditation of therapies based on Lake Hévíz's medicinal properties. The effectiveness of Traditional Hévíz Therapy, which has excellent results in alleviating musculoskeletal complaints, is proven by the 220-year-old history of thermal medicine, thousands of recovered guests and modern medical research. In addition to bathing in medicinal water, the basic elements of the Traditional Hévíz Therapy are mudpack and weight bath. As an additional treatment, drinking medicinal water from the drinking fountain is part of the package as well as various massages, movement therapies, physiotherapy and hydrotherapy. Ideally, the duration of the cure is two weeks. Institutions that have the necessary professional and medical background, as well as the medical infrastructure for the therapy (e.g. thermal water pool, weight bath, facilities for carrying out mud packs), are eligible for the trademark. Every two years, a professional committee verifies whether the requirements are met. On 15th February 2019, three experienced rheumatologists, Dr Annamária Bergmann, Dr Gábor Domokos and Dr Sándor Csordás, personally visited the institutions providing the Therapy to check the infrastructure and staffing conditions of the Traditional Hévíz Therapy. tartalom: + 1 On the occasion of Advent more and more Christmas lights go up also this year in Hévíz. In addition to the festive decorations of public places, service providers also await the visiting guests with more and more beautiful shop windows and decorated houses. The eye-catching Christmas lights, the decorations, which are sometimes traditional, sometimes  romantic and lovely  or in many cases made of using natural materials, the Christmas tree of the town and the Advent wreath together create the Christmas atmosphere of Hévíz.  This Advent, the Hévíz TDM Association also announced a Christmas decoration contest titled „A brilliant idea!”, for which anyone could enter, who felt that he/she offered customers a really gorgeus christmas window display.   The jury took a walk around the town in the afternoon of 4th December in order to rate the shop windows, and announced its rating points in several categories, such as elegance, harmonic appearence, style, use of natural materials, surprising, funny or fabulous ideas. The general public could vote for the service provider who would won the Audience Award based on the pictures shared by the participants on the website www.facebook.com/heviz.info. Awards were given out in a total of 4 categories.  I. Therefore, besides the first prize the manager of the restaurant Czigány Hedvig  could also receive a challenge cup, for which there hopefully will be a lot of applicants next year.   We would recommend that our guests explore all the small beauties of the town, find the most atmospheric store, restaurant or accommodation, try the ice rink re-opened on 5th December after the bathings in the pleasantly warm water of the lake, visit the arts and crafts Advent market and warm up your heart by tasting a pleasantly scenting punch, tea or mulled wine under the twinkling festive lights.    We wish you a merry Christmas!

In recent days one of the most significant milestones in the life of the town is that the lake has been declared Hungarikum, therefore the cup of Hévíz cannot be knocked off the table of national prestige anymore. Along with the lake, the traditional medicine of Hévíz, which has never been this successful, has also become Hungarikum. The healing effect of the bath culture of Hévíz is legendary throughout Europe, the curative power of the thermal water attracts masses of people who would like to be cured next to the western edge of Lake Balaton. Here, visitors spend more than a million nights annually. The Managing Director of Tourism Non-profit Ltd. of Hévíz, Horváth Orsolya said that the timing of the Therapy's branding was a special pleasure for the town, as it was 220 years ago this year that the first bathhouse had been built on the lake. In the course of these two centuries the Traditional Hévíz Therapy has simply become a brand. The qualification certificates related to the Therapy were handed over by the Mayor of Hévíz, Papp Gábor and the Managing Director of the Tourism Ltd., Horváth Orsolya. In addition to bathing in medicinal water, the basic element of the Therapy are mud bath and weight bath. As additional treatment, the consumption of the medicinal water from a drinking-fountain is also a part of the healing process, as well as massages, movement therapies, and physio- and hydro therapies too. The duration of the therapy is two weeks in a standard case. Professionals, specialised in this area, has worked on the development of the standardised Therapy, the fruit of their work is the establishment of a unique healing system. In the qualification of the institutes providing the cure prominent doctors has acted, such as the Medical Director of Spa Hévíz and Saint Andrew's Hospital for Rheumatic Diseases, Dr. Mándó Zsuzsanna, the Sports Doctor and Rheumatologist of NaturMed Hotel Carbona**** superior, Dr. Major Zoltán and the Chief Physician of the Hotel Európa fit****superior, Dr. Moll Veronika, who happens to be the inventor of weight bath, Dr. Moll Károly's daughter. The final decision is expected by October. The practitioners of the Traditional Hévíz Therapy will be entitled to use the official logo of the therapy, every institution, which has the sufficient professional, therapeutic background and medical infrastructure (pool with medicinal water, weight bath, facilities for mud packing, etc.), will be able to do so. Letter „B – F”   Balneotherapy This is a kind of treatment with medicinal water or so called thermal mineral water not classified as medicinal water yet. It comprises drinking cure with such waters, inhalation, mud treatment, carbonated baths and medicinal baths. Caldarium This is one of the facilities used in Roman baths, which means hot watery bathroom. The caldarium, usually tiled or covered with marble, in which people usually stay for 30 to 40 minutes, poses less burden on human organism than a sauna due to the lower temperatures (40-50 °C) and the humidity of the air (70-100%).   Chinese massage The Chinese massage may be considered as a kind of acupuncture combined with stretching. The massage may consist of various parts. It may refer to the spine massage and the Chinese head massage aiming at the head and neck. During the massage the acupuncture points are treated as well. The Chinese massage also includes the stretching of muscles or joints.   Cleopatra-bath Cleopatra, the Egyptian Queen did her best to fight ageism; she tried to make her skin soft and healthy by having a bath with donkey milk in it. Treatments built on each other boost each other’s impact, e.g. therapeutic exercise in medicinal water. When applying physiotherapy it is important to set up a treatment schedule. As a first step the medical status check states the complaints of the guest and general health status of patient is checked. Based on the results of the above a physician designs the complex physiotherapy program. A duration of minimum 2 weeks is recommended when using complex Hévíz treatments. During the treatment, if necessary a continuous medical supervision is provided in order to monitor the changes to the patient’s status and the treatment is also finished with a status check carried out by a physician.   Bath types: Hydroxeur bath Carbonated bath Four-section galvanic bath Electric bath Alternating bath Bath reaction (bath nausea) Bath nausea may happen if patient is overloaded with treatments. Usually on the 5th to 7th day of the incorrect complex physiotherapy treatment the patient’s condition deteriorates. Therefore it is important to compile a therapy by a physician, furthermore continuous monitoring and control is recommended in order to avoid bath nausea. Too many and too frequently applied treatments are not always the best option, patients must leave enough time for the body to relax and recover in between treatments.

Janett and I run across the wooden bridge from the parking lot, trying to catch the last bit of an immensely beautiful sunset. The flaring red, and rather huge disk of the sun, is just dipping beyond the horizon to the West. A feeling of stillness floods through us, much like the little waves gently lapping against the lake shore in front of us. I take a look at Janett. My dear friend is just the same: After both of us have taken the last photographs, there is nothing left but to enjoy the peace of the moment. … Talking about Hévíz is like talking about the mighty stage of nature that surrounds it. A place where the water buffalo roams. Where the famous, nearby Balaton lake has closed for winter, pulling another lake centre stage: The steaming hot lake of Hévíz. Yes, steam rises as we approach the spa town of Hévíz. “So where exactly are you headed to in Hungary?”, my friend Gaby asks me ahead of my trip. “Oh, Hévíz”, she sighs, visibly pleased: “What a beautiful spot. Ursula and I have been there many times … You will like it for sure!” Travelling to Hévíz from Vienna, about a three hour trip southeast of the Austrian capital all the way into Western Hungary, already exudes a feeling of relaxation. There are no fast lanes or highways in this part of the country, so all you have to do is sit back, relax and enjoy the landscape around you. “You are lucky”, our German driver Volker smiles: “I go to Hévíz at least once a year. So glad we all decided to go on the same dates!” Janett and I have found Volker through a rideshare platform called “BlaBlaCars”, popular in Germany as a perfect alternative to trains, buses or taking your own car. Nice. Hévíz, then. As we arrive by the lake, the setting sun paints the rising pearls of steam with the last bits of colours for the day. “But what the … is this!?”, I gasp, suddenly torn from my slumber in the backseat of Volker’s car. In front of me, dozens of people are swimming in a natural lake obviously pleasant to bath in, despite the outside temperature being close to zero degrees. Mother Nature herself provides the energy for heating the healing sulphur waters. Quite the story: Lake Hévíz, a pleasant 26°C warm, is filled with healing source waters that lie buried about 900 metres below the Earth’s surface  … … framed by flaring fall colours such as these trees, an image that has me travel right back to the beautiful “Indian Summer” in Canada ..! Hévíz is a spa town rich in tradition … … their healing mineral and sulphur waters used throughout various spa & health institutions, and wellness hotels such as the prestigious NaturMed Hotel Carbona here … … a hotel that also offers exciting treatments such as the “Cryo-Sauna”: Janett volunteers to being exposed to -170°C for a very short time, said to stimulate your circulation and give you a boost of energy! Janett … We are waiting for your verdict on your travel blog! That day, I decide to keep my clothes on and only pose for a funny photograph in front of Lake Hévíz! Hévíz, what a discovery. In my memory, I can still feel the healing waters giving my entire skin a healthy, nutritious hug … … every evening, Janett and I are off for an hour or two of spa-stillness at the Kolping family hotel in Hévíz, perfect for both the kids and families as well as the odd “tired-crashing travel blogger” looking to unwind. The entire accommodation area is made up of single bungalows with reed roofs, adding to a familiar feeling of comfort from across the border, in the Austrian Burgenland province. And everyone out here speaks German! For a multi linguist like myself, it is almost a shame I speak no Hungarian whatsoever in return, but hey: Hospitality, appreciation of nature, and the good food & drinks we find here with our new Hungarian friends also speak a language of their own. Check this out. Talking about similarities between Western Hungary and Eastern Austria, one cannot fail to notice the food: Paprika goulash time it is – an all-time favourite on both sides of the border … … where the surrounding park beckons for a stroll (or a sit) … … modern holiday bungalows await … … as well as a chance to dive into the area’s hot mineral water pools each night. Around Hévíz, you will find prairie buffalos next to imperial castles and bustling farmers’ markets. Quite the Hungarian heritage & charm! I love visiting (farmers’) markets. All around the world, they always teach you about an important aspect of the local cultural history. What do people eat? What do they sell? Which “language do they speak”? How is the atmosphere? What is being offered? Who strikes up a bargain? And how? Janett and I decide to take on a feast of rather delicious “Kürtöskálacs”; a kind of sugar-bread-roll that goes perfectly with two glasses of hot, mulled wine. Beautiful second breakfast at Hévíz market. Just a little later, our local insider Krisztina drives us over into neighbouring Keszthely, famous for its imperial palace as well as being right by the shore line of Lake Balaton. Both places are worth returning to in the spring or summer, as we imagine all the green spaces full of flowers, happy vacationists in T-Shirts and us in summer dresses ..! At the same time, it is rather nice walking around without the crowds now .. The following is a list of travel tips on where to go once you are here: Hévíz market: Definitely worth your while … … where we recommend you to try delicious Hungarian sweet bread, and hot wine if you wish. Just about a twenty minutes drive and you will find yourself in front of Lake Balaton, Western Hungary’s famous steppe lake … … the advantage being only few visitors during low season … … same here at Keszthely Palace … … which we are able to visit almost exclusively on our own. Do visit the palace library: A magical spot filled with old books some of which are many centuries old ..! And if you, like us that day, wish to freshen up a little … … consider heading to Télikert Restaurant: Great food, friendly staff & a generous, urban flair here at Lake Balaton. If pure nature is what you prefer … … nature, horses, and romance … … then go visit the local buffalo farm, where you can learn a thing or two about the noble prairie dwellers and appreciate the local landscape around you! The city became peaceful and silent in no matter of time. By the middle of May, the long awaited moment has arrived: life gets back to normal in Hévíz! Shops are already open and terraces of cafés started to get full of life slowly. Lake Hévíz has been open since 9 May, so visitors can swim again in the 30°C lake under the blue sky. The first guests have already arrived in private accommodations. Four hotels will be open by the Whitsun weekend, however, reservations are accepted in every hotel. The hotels are very flexible regarding rescheduling the previously booked dates. During these two months everyone was busy with renovating and renewing so they could provide their guests a better environment than ever.  The safety precautions and hygiene restrictions are taken very seriously everywhere. Restaurants like Az Én Anyósom, Liget Restaurant, Vilmos Cellar and Római Cellar are already open and await guests both inside and on their terraces with keeping the necessary safety and hygiene restrictions.  The restaurant of Zala Springs is also ideal to have a good lunch after playing golf. Due to the pandemic, the wellness section including the saunas and the gym remained closed, however, convenience is guaranteed in the delightful hotel atmosphere. tartalom: + 1 This year's event will take place immediately after St. Martin's Day, on the weekend from November 12th to 14th. This means that besides the young wine goose will also enrich the menu offerings this year.   Main ingredient: Aszófőer Welschriesling from the Fodorvin winery The title “Wine of the City of Hévíz 2021” went to the 2020 Aszófőer Welschriesling from the Fodorvin winery. The competition took place on July 7 in the restaurant of the Hotel Spa Hévíz with the participation of an expert jury. Our jury was not mistaking, since they truly got the best: the Aszófőer Welschriesling by Fodorvin was again selected as the winner of the Italian Riesling category at the Parliament's Wine Chest in October  2021 from among 218 wines. The family cellar of the Fodorvin winery was built in 1858 in Aszófő, in the Vörösmáli vineyard, where they currently manage 9 hectares as a family business. The reductively produced wine has a pronounced greenish-yellow color, and its aroma is dominated by citric and vegetable notes. The full taste is complemented by a pleasant acidity. It can currently also be purchased in the Hévíz Tourinform office with the label “Wine of the City of Hévíz 2021”.   Exceptional menus and courses In mid-November, the restaurants in Hévíz will prepare more than just special dishes with the winning wine. These delicacies in the Platán restaurant will include, for example, the foie gras ragout with forest mushrooms and Aszófőer Welschriesling on a crispy yeast plait, as well as the crispy leg of goose with sage and rosemary potatoes and apple slices braised in Hévíz city wine. In the NaturMed Hotel Carbona's buffet menu - which is not only open to hotel guests - you can try, for example, a sauerkraut soup with smoked meat, dill and Aszófőer Welschriesling. There will also be a goose stomach ragout with a creamy mushroom sauce, which has been perfumed with Aszófőer Welschriesling. tartalom: + 1 We gathered the programs that await you at the end of the year in Hévíz.   The Lights of Advent in the City and Celebration at the Farmer's Market of Hévíz The inner city of Hévíz is filled with lights of Advent in December. A Christmas tree, a Betlehem and an Advent Wreath is placed at the Festetics Square. A candle is lit on each Sunday on the Advent Wreath. The promenade will be filled with wooden houses, atmospheric music and enticing smells. A fair of handmade products and children programs will wait everyone at Moll Square. On the Farmers' Market there will be special gastronomy programs on each Saturday morning. On 30 December, a Pig Slaughter will be held at the Farmer's Market of Hévíz. On the 31 December a New Year's Eve party will be taken place in the tent with concerts and street festival.     Holiday concerts and the best performers at the hotels of Hévíz If you decide to stay one of the hotels in Hévíz during the holiday season, many program wil guarantee your entertainment. During the day, you may enjoy the relaxing wellness sections of the hotels, while in the evening the finest dishes and the best performers will make sure you enjoy your stay. In NaturMed Hotel Carbona, guests can enjoy the piano play on each weekend of  the Advent. The Korona Restaurant makes a thematic New Year's Eve party each year. French music, period dresses, French dishes and drinks will make sure to make you feel like you are in Paris. tartalom: + 1 After 220 years of medical experience and research, the Traditional Hévíz Therapy became a trademark of Hévíz in 2015. The therapy consists of three basic and four complementary treatments using the healing properties of sulphurous magnesium carbonate water. Experts have recognized that a significant part of the hydro, movement, physio- and electrotherapies of the Traditional Hévíz Therapy is suitable for the treatment of certain problems of the Post-Covid syndrome. In addition, the mineral content of Lake Hévíz, the evaporating water and the climatic effect of the 60-hectare Protective Forest surrounding the lake are also very effective in achieving the healing effect. The Post-Covid Care programme will work on the model of the already proven Traditional Hévíz Therapy. Patients arriving in Hévíz with post-Covid-19 symptoms will receive professional and personalised treatments in the comfort of a hotel, under medical supervision. Not only local wineries were invited to the competition, but many other wineries from different parts of the country. 25 producers from 12 wine regions of Zala and Balaton submitted a total of 50 items for the gastronomic battle. 22 grape varieties - Welsh Riesling, Savignon Blanc, "Ezerjó", Zenit, Patria, "Cserszegi fűszeres" - represented the selection.   The process The wines were judged on 22 April at the NaturMed Hotel Carbona. The items were first judged by a professional jury. The main patron of the event was Ágnes Diána Sárdy PhD, Director of the MATE Buda Campus, Associate Professor. The members of the jury were Barna Szőke PhD, chaired by MATE, Deputy Research Director of the Institute of Viticulture and Enology of Badacsony, Barnabás Kovács PhD, assistant professor of wine, Sándor Viniczai, editor-in-chief of wine booklets, Zsolt Vaszily CEO of Carbona, Tamás Borbély - President of the Badacsony Wine Region, Wine Producer of the Year, owner of the Borbély Family Winery, Winemaker, and last but not least Mrs. Beatrix Sütőné Tüttő was representing the city of Hévíz. The wine was selected with the usual blind tasting. This means that only the type and year were given to the jury members. Well-known Hungarian experts evaluated the wines using an electronic 100-point grading system. During the scoring, in a close competition, 7 lots were finally presented to the social jury, who judged the wines using the same system.     Who became the winner? Cezar Winery Kis Balaton - Savignon Blanc 2021 vintage white wine.   What does the winner get? In addition to wearing the honorary title for a full year, they will have the opportunity to present themselves at the 4-day Wine and Gastro Festival in August. The honorary diplomas accompanying the title will be presented at the jHappy Peace Times on April 30, 2022 from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm.   Where can I taste / buy it? cím: On Earth Day, we present a project contributing to climate resilience

lead: On Earth Day (April 22), let's acknowledge the efforts and contributions of projects in our city that help preserve both the city and the planet for future generations.

tartalom: + 1 In the face of growing global climate change, the need to respond to its impacts has never been more urgent. The Danube Transnational Programme (DTP) promotes economic, social, and territorial cohesion in the Danube River region, enabling partners from 14 countries to test innovative solutions for climate resilience.   The first call of the Interreg Danube Region Programme attracted 290 concepts, of which 89 passed to the second stage, and 60 reached the stage of financing agreements. Twenty of these projects fall under the priority "A greener, low-carbon Danube Region." One innovative project from this selection is Be Ready (UrBan hEat islands REsilience, prepAreDness and mitigation strategy). The project aims to provide local and regional authorities with tools to identify urban heat islands and understand their causes and consequences on human health, productivity, energy consumption, and biodiversity. The project brings together 19 partners from 12 countries jointly developing solutions to mitigate the effects of heat islands in urban environments. Partner cities, including Hévíz will develop action plans to overcome urban heat islands through data analysis, urban planning solutions, regulations, increased awareness, and infrastructure measures.   A key aspect of the project's approach is the concept of "urban acupuncture" - specific small interventions with a large effect. Urban pilot activities will explore solutions in three areas: "green acupuncture," using vegetation; "white acupuncture," using innovative surfaces and materials; and "blue acupuncture," related to new ways of using water resources.   You can get involved and support actions fighting climate change Hévíz and make the world more sustainable for everyone.
