In recent days one of the most significant milestones in the life of the town is that the lake has been declared Hungarikum, therefore the cup of Hévíz cannot be knocked off the table of national prestige anymore. Along with the lake, the traditional medicine of Hévíz, which has never been this successful, has also become Hungarikum. The healing effect of the bath culture of Hévíz is legendary throughout Europe, the curative power of the thermal water attracts masses of people who would like to be cured next to the western edge of Lake Balaton. Here, visitors spend more than a million nights annually. The Managing Director of Tourism Non-profit Ltd. of Hévíz, Horváth Orsolya said that the timing of the Therapy's branding was a special pleasure for the town, as it was 220 years ago this year that the first bathhouse had been built on the lake. In the course of these two centuries the Traditional Hévíz Therapy has simply become a brand. The qualification certificates related to the Therapy were handed over by the Mayor of Hévíz, Papp Gábor and the Managing Director of the Tourism Ltd., Horváth Orsolya. In addition to bathing in medicinal water, the basic element of the Therapy are mud bath and weight bath. As additional treatment, the consumption of the medicinal water from a drinking-fountain is also a part of the healing process, as well as massages, movement therapies, and physio- and hydro therapies too. The duration of the therapy is two weeks in a standard case. Professionals, specialised in this area, has worked on the development of the standardised Therapy, the fruit of their work is the establishment of a unique healing system. In the qualification of the institutes providing the cure prominent doctors has acted, such as the Medical Director of Spa Hévíz and Saint Andrew's Hospital for Rheumatic Diseases, Dr. Mándó Zsuzsanna, the Sports Doctor and Rheumatologist of NaturMed Hotel Carbona**** superior, Dr. Major Zoltán and the Chief Physician of the Hotel Európa fit****superior, Dr. Moll Veronika, who happens to be the inventor of weight bath, Dr. Moll Károly's daughter. It comprises drinking cure with such waters, inhalation, mud treatment, carbonated baths and medicinal baths. Caldarium This is one of the facilities used in Roman baths, which means hot watery bathroom. The caldarium, usually tiled or covered with marble, in which people usually stay for 30 to 40 minutes, poses less burden on human organism than a sauna due to the lower temperatures (40-50 °C) and the humidity of the air (70-100%).   Chinese massage The Chinese massage may be considered as a kind of acupuncture combined with stretching. The massage may consist of various parts. It may refer to the spine massage and the Chinese head massage aiming at the head and neck. During the massage the acupuncture points are treated as well. The Chinese massage also includes the stretching of muscles or joints.   Cleopatra-bath Cleopatra, the Egyptian Queen did her best to fight ageism; she tried to make her skin soft and healthy by having a bath with donkey milk in it. The aim of the treatment is to displace the vertebras, thus stretching the back bone and enabling the restoring of the original, healthy condition of the vertebral disks. Weight bath is completely painless, as the upthrust of the water relaxes the body and the weights stretch the spine in a very gentle way. Weights used during weight bath can be suspended in 3 ways: on one point (only on the neck) on two points (with armpit support) on three points (with neck and armpit support) The weights are placed on the waist and/or on the ankles, by usually applying weights of 2-3-5 kg. At one time a maximum of 20 kg weights are allowed. Most frequently used electrotherapy treatments During iontotherapy the ions of a medicine prescribed by physician are introduced to the body via the skin with the help of local galvanic current. It is beneficial for migraine and aortic stenosis; it also speeds up the absorption of hematoma and softens up scarring. Diadynamic current therapy is a special electrotherapy, which has an alleviative and circulation boosting effect. Indications: analgesic treatment, vein innervations disorders, twitches, bruises, oedema, nervous pain, joint and spine wear, disc related disorders, muscle wasting. Myotest means electrical treatment of the nerves, by generating muscle contractions. Indications: treatment and prevention of muscular wasting.The main aim of interference treatment is to generate internal pulsating massage in the muscles located next to the spine, by using electricity with various frequencies. If the symmetry and balance are thrown out of balance, locomotor diseases and internal organ problems may develop. Healing and health preventive power of Yumeiho lies in the balancing of the energies circulating in the meridians, furthermore in the loosening up of the muscles and in the restoring of the symmetry. Yumeiho mixes three Far-Eastern massage techniques: massage, acupressure and manual therapy. During the massage the muscles are loosened up, which improve the blood and lymph circulation and metabolism. Stimulation of the acupressure points releases the energy blockages. Joints are put back to their original position by using manual therapy. Yumeiho massage duration is about 45 to 60 minutes. The professional masseur massages the entire body. The treatment is carried out on a rubber mat, while patient is wearing his/her clothes. There are hundred basic techniques, which are complemented by two to three hundred manual therapy elements, depending on the illness. Yumeiho massage is used for the treatment of wide scope of illnesses. It is extremely beneficial for joint, rheumatic and muscle problems, spine diseases, locomotor diseases, trapped nerves, back-, shoulder-, waist-, leg- and certain headaches, furthermore to prevent and correct incorrect posture. Yumeiho massage was originally used to improve and boost the physical and mental performance of the Shaolin fighters. tartalom: + 1 It is an ancient massage based on Far-eastern traditions. Thai massage is a dry massage, no oils or lotions are used during the treatment; clients wear comfortable light clothes. This form of bodywork is usually performed on the floor or on a mattress. During the massage the acupuncture points are stimulated by using a point pressurizing technique. In Thai massage the techniques of acupressure are joined with stretching, dislocating and snapping elements. Thai masseurs use their hands, elbows, knees and feet during the treatment. An original Thai massage takes about an hour to one and half hours. As it is longer than a traditional massage, the impact of the massage lasts also longer. After the massage client is both physically and mentally rejuvenated, the blood circulation is stimulated and the energies of the body are also activated.  Thai massage does not move the muscles, but by the stimulation of the acupuncture points equalizes the body parts. Regular application of Thai massage has a beneficial impact on the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular diseases, digestive and locomotor (joint and spine problems, back and lower back aches) diseases and provides client with a sense of physical well-being. Treatments used to take place in churches, they were rather considered as mental exercise than physical treatment. In terms of Thai massage the Wat Pho Church located in Bangkok is still an important training and healing centre.

As a matter of fact it is an energetic treatment, which uses massage and dislocating techniques. Those points are stimulated by this massage, which are located on the energy flow paths of the body. It is based on the meridian system mentioned at the description of the acupressure treatment and on the stimulation of the given acupressure points. Patients are allowed to wear clothing during treatments. The aim of Chinese massage is to remove the barriers obstructing vital power (Qi) flow and to harmonise the body’s energy management. The masseur achieves the required effect by putting pressure on the respective points of the meridian system. Chinese massage technique can be applied in two ways, but it also depends on the treated person and body part. If the aim is to strengthen and stimulate the body the application of Yang technique is recommended; if we wish to relax the body, Yin technique shall be used. Chinese massage therapy is ideal for muscular fatigueness, back- and muscle aches, joint and spine disorders, gynaecological problems, for the mitigation of chronic or virulent rheumatic disorders, furthermore it plays an important role in prevention. Interesting facts First written record related to Chinese massage was found in one of the medical books of the Yellow Emperor. In terms of its basic principles it’s a uniform method, but there are various versions of Chinese massage. Number 36 is an important element in the Chinese massage as it is used as a measurement unit.
