Would you look inside your body without X-rays? Would you like to know if sport or a previous accident has caused changes in your muscles and bones that could be a source of pain later? The Kinesio Lab is your place.
What is the Kinesio Movement Analysis Laboratory for?
It is excellent for monitoring the condition of the body's muscles during active sport. We test for a condition that has already developed and then carry out the test again after the treatments. It is very impressive to see what positive results have been achieved.
Anyone can make an appointment for treatment, however, the treatments are not free of charge. The Kinesio Movement Analysis Laboratory is located in the Festetics Bathhouse of St. Andrew’s Hospital for Rheumatic Diseases. Here, a special computer-controlled instrument carries out the movement tests. The analytical function of the test enables an accurate, in-depth study of the human body's movement system.
In the Kinesio-Lab, qualified physiotherapists help patients to get a complete overview of the condition of their bones, joints, muscles, body composition and gait. This complex examination provides an objective measure of the effectiveness of the movement therapy treatments in the short and long term.
Younger people, even children, as a preventive measure, adults, to identify or assess musculoskeletal and spinal problems, athletes, to get an accurate picture of the condition of joints and muscles that are under above-average strain, or of the whole body either to prevent sports injuries or to follow up on existing injuries.
Tests that are available at the Kinesio-Lab:
Functional examination of the gait (45 minutes) Functional examination of the spine (30 minutes) Body composition analysis (20 minutes) Functional examination of the foot (30 minutes)
The Kinesio Movement Analysis Lab is located on the second floor of the Festetics Bathhouse.
It is a facility of Hévíz Spa and St Andrew’s Hospital for Rheumatic Diseases. However, it is not located in the hospital. The Kinesio Lab can be accessed through the main entrance of the Lake Baths in Ady Endre Street. To make an appointment for a test in the laboratory, you don't need to have a doctor's referral or purchase a ticket to the Lake Baths. However, it is essential to book an appointment in advance. At the same time, you can also discuss which tests you would like to take.

title: Kinesio Motion Analysis Laboratory in Hévíz
description:+ 4 Recognition of locomotor and sports problems for conscious correction. Muscle strength examination, gait analysis, assessment of the condition of the spine with mechanical examinations, without X-ray.
tartalom:+ 1 Weight bath Weight bath is an underwater treatment, which aims to lenghten the vertebrae from one another, thus stretching the spinal column. The stretching process renders the restoration of the original and healthy condition of the discs possible. Weight bath is a painless treatment as the elevating power of water brings the body in a relaxed state, and the weights stretch the spinal column in a most indulgent way. During the treatment, the guests are anchored on the neck and/or under the arms, practically hanging in the water while different weights of 2, 3 or 5 kilograms – depending on the state of the disease – are fixed on the back and/or the ankles. Weights applied in the weight bath may be attached to the body in 3 different ways: one point (neck only) 2-points (under the arms) 3-points (neck and under the arms) The weight must be fixed to the patient’s body as instructed by the medical doctor, with a maximum of 20 kilograms at a time.Duration of treatment: 20 minutesWater temperature: indifferent (34-35°C) Indications: relieving spinal discs and nerve roots under pressure decreasing muscle cramps reducing taenia and muscle atrophy Contraindications: Cardiovascular diseases high temperature, infectious diseases acute musculoskeletal diseases vertebral slippage malignancy after disc surgery for 6 weeks Where did the weight-bath start from? It is likely that the diseases of the spine had been attempted to cure by pulling even before the times of Hippocrates. It was dr. Moll Károly who pioneered the use of the underwater pulling weight-bath. He published his essay on it in 1953. The head physician’s idea to use pulling during bathing in the lake came from the various ‘reconditioning’ methods. The weight-bath does not only mean the stretching of the spine, but it is a hydrotherapy as well. In the hot medicinal water the efficiency of the treatment is significantly increased. This treatment is one of the Hungarian rheumatology’s greatest discoveries of practical importance. Are you interested in the work of the weight-bath in practice? The parameters of a weight-bath treatment, the time, the applied weight, are always determined by the physician. The weight-bath can only be available on medical advice. The treatments are carried out by gradual loading according to the parameters. The patients hang on a neck or armpit support. In case of a cervical treatment the patient hangs on cervical stocks, the tension is given by the weight of the body reduced by the buoyancy of the water. If the lower spinal segments are treated, weights from 3 even to 10 kilos are used. The treatments of the knee and hip are carried out with an armpit support by putting weight on the ankles. The duration of the treatments is from 10 to 20 minutes on the average.
tartalom:+ 1 Various physical therapy treatments are also important for a successful treatment In order to fully exploit the therapeutic effects of the lake water, in addition to bathing, physicians use many forms of treatments in the course of the compilation of the cures. Methods included in the following physiotherapeutic treatment group are used mostly in Hévíz: electrotherapy magnetic therapy mechanotherapy treatments light therapy Electrotherapy Electrotherapy, balneotherapy and mechanotherapy are part of physiotherapy treatments. Electrotherapy is used in various forms during Hévíz treatments. Therapies may mitigate pain, stimulate blood circulation and generate deep tissue congestion depending on the therapy type. „Low frequency” treatment types are ultrasound, magnetic ring, diadynamic, ionomodulator, sonopuls, stymat, sonodynator, dionin, endomed treatments or cryotherapy, wich is based on the circulation of cold air „High frequency” treatment types: decimetre wave, microwave and short wave. Treatments use the heat effect of electricity for generating tissue congestion. Indications: improves blood circulation, alleviator of pain. Types of treatments During iontotherapy the ions of a medicine prescribed by physician are introduced to the body via the skin with the help of local galvanic current. It may be local and general: relieving muscle- and traumatic pains and arthritis. It is beneficial for migraine and aortic stenosis; it also speeds up the absorption of hematoma and softens up scarring. Diadynamic current therapy is a special electrotherapy, which has an alleviative and circulation boosting effect. Indications: analgesic treatment, vein innervations disorders, twitches, bruises, oedema, nervous pain, joint and spine wear, disc related disorders, muscle wasting. Myotest means electrical treatment of the nerves, by generating muscle contractions. Indications: treatment and prevention of muscular wasting. Interference therapyDue to the different power frequencies conducted into muscles next to the spine the muscle knots caused by posture disorders decrease because of the internal pulsing massage generated by the electric power. Ultrasound therapyTissue micro massage, which is created by mechanical vibrations. It is suitable for healing every musculoskeletal disease. Magnetic therapy Magnetic ring, also known as pulsatron. It is based on the biological effects of the magnetic field’s rhythmic changes. It can be used after a stroke, in case of stiffness, muscle weakness, neuralgia, post-treatments of injuries and in some medical cases. Light therapy Sollux, laser, evolite...all are using the special physical attribution of the light to heal different diseases. Laser (light laser) is mostly used to cure movement diseases. It decreases pain, sore, muscle tension, edem, and stimulates the immune system, and accelerates wound healing Mechanotherapy treatments It is an independent cure, but it is also an important part of the complex therapy. These are therapeutic forms based on the following types of treatments Passive: massage >>> Active: physical and therapeutic exercise >>> Did you know that, although electricity hadn’t been known yet, the Romans used the electrotherapy? electricity generating fishes were placed next to paralyzed children in the pool in order to stimulate their muscles?

The acupuncture is quite effective against pains and it also stimulates blood flow, stabilizes circulation, increases the body energy level and improves the general state of health. Anti-agingIt comprises treatments which help you remain fit and young, including stress relief, exercise therapy, beautician techniques, change of eating habits, vitalizing substances, brain training, change of lifestyle, and many others. AquarobicIt is gymnastics performed in water and accompanied with instructions and mostly with music, which is protective to joints but it is also featured of training and massage as it requires force against the water pressure. Aroma light-therapyIt is not the scent what is primarily used in aroma-therapy treatments but the volatile oil extracted out of plants. Volatile oils have certain components that get locally active within the body and perform only a secondary effect through smelling. With lighting during the light therapy colored light penetrates deep into the skin so that to stimulate the positive reactions of the cells to everyday complaints and mental disorders. AyurvedaThe Ayurveda is an ancient Indian system of medicine and philosophy at the same time, which aims at the individual instead of the treatment of disease or symptoms by consideration and comparison of the individual habitus, climate, the seasons of the year and parts of the day, lifestyle, diet and many other aspects. BalneotherapyThis is a kind of treatment with medicinal water or so-called thermal mineral water not classified as medicinal water yet. It comprises drinking cure with such waters, inhalation, mud treatment, carbonated baths, and medicinal baths. CaldariumThis is one of the facilities used in Roman baths, which means hot water bathroom. The caldarium, usually tiled or covered with marble, in which people usually stay for 30 to 40 minutes, poses less burden on human organism than a sauna due to the lower temperatures (40-50 °C) and the humidity of the air (70-100%). FangoMud pack from ground volcanic rock is applied to a certain part or the whole of the body. Fango is capable of holding heat for a long period, rich in minerals and free of organic substances. It has been used for the treatment of rheumatism for centuries, and it is also used for beautician purposes. JacuzziThe water-jets directed to the particular points of the body and the massage promotes full relaxation. Due to the intensified blood circulation your body will get more oxygen so you’ll feel fit. The pores of skin get larger and due to the intensified blood circulation, your skin will be purified from toxins. As a result, the skin will be firmer and more elastic. JoggingJogging combines all the benefits of walking; it conditions the heart, improves muscle tone and strength, relieves stress, and can help with a variety of health problems, such as osteoporosis, heart disease and arthritis. Chinese massageThe Chinese massage may be considered as a kind of acupuncture combined with stretching. The massage may consist of various parts. It may refer to the spine massage and the Chinese head massage aiming at the head and neck. During the massage, the acupuncture points are treated as well. The Chinese massage also includes the stretching of muscles or joints. Cleopatra-bath Cleopatra, the Egyptian Queen did her best to fight ageism; she tried to make her skin soft and healthy by having a bath with donkey milk in it. The beauty care products named after her suggest having a bath with a mixture of milk and vegetable oil. These products are based on the conditioning and nourishing effects that milk and vegetable oils have on the skin. Kneipp stepsYou tread cold water stepping on pebbles placed on the bottom of a tub while walking around. The legs are lifted out of the tub at every step so that the cold water and the warm air will provide the contrasting bath character. The pebbles gently massage the reflex zones of the soles initiating a certain regulatory process. LaconiumIt is a cool version of the Finnish sauna. The temperature may not exceed 55 C° and the degree of humidity is insignificant. It enhances congestion and supports the immune system. Lomi Lomi NuiThis traditional Polynesian massage is one of the most pampering therapies of the Hawaiian kahunas. The massage starts by rubbing the body with “ti” leaves, and the body is heated with hot stones. Then while the lomi-lomi masseur is dancing with traditional dance-steps, imitating the steps of a frigate bird, around the nearly naked body of the patient, lying on the massage bench, he is giving the treatment, which means soft smoothing and kneading motions of the pad of his/her forearm and palm. Finally, he/she completes the massage with a ritual ablution of the body. Lymphatic massageThis is a special kind of massage that makes lymph fluid drain away. The lymph flow may be stimulated along the lymph vessel by smoothing with gentle pressure, thus the tissues may be purified from the roughage. As a result, the skin becomes cleaner, better supplied with blood and firmer. This massage activates the immune system, promotes the recovery of the cells and tissues and reduces the susceptibility to inflammation. It is highly recommended as an additional treatment to detox cures. Qi-GongIt is a generic term to mean a wide range of heath-preserving practices. This ancient method combines the mental concentration, breathing technique and physical exercise so as to enhance and maintain your vital energy. The technique requires regular practice but it is easy to acquire for any age group depending on the fitness level of the individual. Paraffin treatmentAfter smearing your skin with thermo cream you should apply the heated paraffin, which will harden on your body. This will temporarily hinder the skin respiration promoting the absorption of the cream full of effective substances. The paraffin pack contains alga, which is a fat-dissolving agent with high iodine content. It makes skin spectacularly firm, smooth and velvety. ShiatsuShiatsu is based on the ancient Japanese medicine and philosophy, but it has also been affected by the modern western medicine. It is suitable for preventing diseases, locomotor and mental disorders or just for a pleasant sensual and spiritual journey in the universe of your inner self. According to the Taoist philosophy the energy – prana, qi or chi – flows continuously both in the universe and in human body. The therapist treats the patients on the acupuncture spots along the meridian lines because these spots provide access to the various organs. Step-AerobicStepping on and off a platform may enhance the development of the balance between the energy level of the sigh tensors and flexors. Such balance plays an important role in the prevention of certain sports injuries. In well-organized step training the choreography and the step combinations match the rhythm of the music used for the training. StretchingIt means a set of stretching and relaxing exercises. Painless muscle system of good tone is required for coordinated injury-free motion. While being used, muscles perform repeating motions of a small extent, that’s why they tend to grow stiff soon. These exercises help you loosen your stiff muscles of poor tone. Sole massageIt has been used in Asia for five thousand years and nowadays we can see its revival. It protects and improves your physical and mental health without any side-effects within a short period if time. It helps you prevent diseases and stimulates the self-healing mechanism of the organism. Massaging the sole opens a way to affect the central nervous system, circulation and internal organs as it is extremely rich in nerve endings. In the reflex zones related to the particular organs, crystalline lumps of various sizes may be felt which could often be sensitive or even painful. The aim is to rub off these deposits and detoxify the body, improve blood circulation and stimulate the self-healing capacity. Thai massageAn Indian medical man was the first to use this technique in Thailand 2500 years ago. In the course of time it changed but it has preserved its bases up to this day. The massage is carried out with hand, elbow, sole or knee along the so called meridian lines connecting the acupuncture spots. You can enjoy this massage wearing a comfortable cotton T-shirt and cotton trousers. It has a relaxing effect, reduces tension and pain and affects muscles, interstitial tissues, joints, the autonomic nervous system, organs, blood circulation as well as the lines and spots harmonizing energy. Thalasso therapySince the mid-19th century the thelasso therapy - -derives from the Greek word "Thalassa" = sea – has combines the holistic and the wellness experiences for the body and soul. A French doctor called La Bounnadiére was the first to use the designation in 1867, and since then it has been associated with soothing and regenerating effects of the therapy applying sea water, seaweed and sea climate. YumeihoYumeiho is a kind of massage originated from Japan. It was created by Sajoni Masayuki, who used the elements of martial arts of Chinese Buddhist monasteries. The masseur kneads the body thoroughly, stretches the joints and loosens the blocks to make motion and energy flow free. The treatment combines the techniques of acupressure and the manual therapy with eastern physical exercises.

tartalom:+ 1 Proof, not promises– effectiveness of the therapies of Hévíz One million visitors a year, regular customer rate of 80%, thousands of cured people in Hévíz, this is not a coincidence! It has been known for a long time that the water of Lake Hévíz is a remedy for several complaints and many people owe their recovery to the therapies carried out here. The recent researches of Hévíz Spa and St Andrew’s Hospital for Rheumatic Diseases are now also scientifically proven beneficial effects. Several research programmes were carried out in the institute and all of them ended with positive results. The following research was also presented at an international congress and even published in a well-known European specialist magazine: Examination of the medical effects of Lake Hévíz in patients with knee joint degenerations In the course of the research the patients suffering from knee osteoarthritis were divided into two groups. One group bathed in the lake and the other in a pool with heated tap water for 3 weeks, 30 minutes 5 times a week. The patients did not get any other physiotherapeutic treatments and the doctors carrying out the examinations did not know in which group the patients were. The doctors measuring various parameters before the treatments, after the treatments and 12 weeks after the end of the treatments found that the difference between the two groups were significant. The research has clearly shown that the water of Lake Hévíz reduced the pain of the patients who were suffering from knee joint degenerations, improved their movement functions and thus positively affected the patients’ quality of life both in the short and long term. You can download the article here. After the successful international acceptance preparation of further scientific articles is going on about the following researches: 1. Proving the effectiveness of the weight bath therapy in case of low back pain The aim of the research was to prove the effectiveness of the weight bath, which was introduced by Dr. Moll Károly in 1953, in case of patients suffering from mild or moderate lumbago. In addition to the parameters showing the movements and the indices of the quality of life the authors placed special emphasis on the data measured by the Spineliner device, which has an objective method to measure the stiffness or flexibility of the joints and muscles. The medical examinations carried out directly after the weight bath therapy and then 3 months after the therapy showed improvement in almost every parameter, demonstrated significant improvement in several parameters proving the positive effects of the treatments. 2. Determining the effects of the healing mud of Hévíz in case of patients suffering from hand arthrosis The aim of the research was to examine and document the therapeutic and chemical effects of the healing mud of Hévíz in case of patients suffering from mild and moderate hand osteoarthritis. In the course of the research the patients were divided into two groups: the patients in group one were given medicinal mud directly on both of their hands, whereas the patients of the second group got the healing mud on both of their hands through a layer of nylon for 3 weeks, 5 times a week. Various parameters were tested at the beginning and at the end of the therapy and after 15 weeks. Based on the clinical tests, improvement was observed in patients who received mud treatments. 3. The effect of the complex physiotherapy of Hévíz in case of a specific autoimmune disorder The ongoing research program carried out together with the University of Pécs examines the effects of the complex physiotherapy of Hévíz in case of patients suffering from a specific autoimmune disorder (systemic sclerosis) affecting their hands. The aim of the study is to improve the functions of the hands by the help of a 3-week-long complex physiotherapy as well as to determine the short- and long-term effects. On weekdays the patients were given the following treatments: medicinal bath, whirlpool bath, mud treatments, massage, physiotherapy, ergotherapy. At the weekend they got 30 minutes’ bath, went for a walk and relaxed. In the short term most of the measured parameters have improved and the used treatments have been effective. In the long term the hand function tests have partially shown promising results. The findings of further examinations are expected by autumn 2014. 4. Cardiospa – the experience of the technical testing of the telemetric cardiologic monitoring during balneotherapy in Hévíz The general objective of the project is to provide a partially automated remote medical monitoring for patients who would stand in need of thermal water because of their underlying disease, but cannot take it because of their contraindications of cardiologic nature. The tests were carried out in 51 volunteer patients who do not suffer from heart diseases and it was found that the measuring instrument was able to give appropriate signals during staying in the thermal water and was well tolerated also by the patients. In the next phase of the research it is planned to try the instrument out on patients suffering from cardiovascular diseases. The above findings motivate the doctors of Hévíz for carrying out further researches, which are hoped to also have positive outcome. Visit Hévíz and try out the proven medicinal therapies of Hévíz!
tartalom:+ 1 In the course of general movement development, the aim is to stimulate brain functions, increase and refine attention and concentration skills. On the other hand, the goal of the movement development treatments – medical gymnastics and direct spinal exercises- , which are primarily carried out in Hévíz, are healing, recovery and prevention. These methods are especially important in the treatment of musculoskeletal diseases. Physical and therapeutic exercise Exercise with professional supervision or therapeutic exercise is part of a complex treatment. It is an extremely important therapy in the treatment of locomotor disorders. Unhealthy lifestyles, such as lack of physical exercise in many cases further deteriorate the health of the patients, which can be helped by regular physical exercise. Therapeutic exercise: one of the aims of the physical exercise tailored to the condition of the individual is to restore the injured joints and spine operation, to improve the condition and power of the muscle system, to eliminate its defects and to correct the posture of the individual. Spinal exercise It is a method mainly used for increasing the movement range of the spine as well as for mobilising the neck and waist. However, successful results can be achieved with it in stretching muscles that are shortened because of poor posture or pain, strengthening muscles around the back, the abdomen and the hips, or improving coordination. Spinal exercise is carried out in an eased position with the help of qualified physiotherapists in every case. The movements are easy to learn and can be performed later at home as well. Underwater exercise This therapy applies the healing impact of mixed medicinal water and the favourable physical characteristics of water (ascensional power, resistance, etc.). Underwater exercise causes less strain to the muscles and joints, therefore it is also suitable for those, who are not allowed to do normal physical exercise. The impact of all these treatments can be boosted by treatments based on thermal (heat), electric, etc. energies. In addition to the mentioned traditional methods, special techniques can also be used for treating back problems: Schroth therapy Manual therapy McKenzie method Kinezio tape Spineliner treatment
