tartalom: + 1 A team of experts from the international travel magazine Lonely Planet has only found two more extraordinary spas than the Lake Spa of Hévíz. First place was given to the famous Icelandic Blue Lagoon, a truly magical place, if not a naturally formed lake. The second place was awarded to the Thermal Bath Spa in England, a classic spa that can only be visited as a museum today, bathing is not here permitted. The Lonely Planet compilation includes a total of 20 thermal baths, and in addition to Hévíz, Budapest's Széchenyi Bath has also made it into the top 10.   WHAT HAS BEEN WRITTEN ABOUT THE 10 MOST EXTRAORDINARY BATHS?   1. Blue Lagoon, Iceland You have to see it to believe it! It is said that the bright turquoise-blue pool, 30 minutes from Reykjavik in the rugged lava fields, could easily be assumed to be a natural formation; however, it was created artificially. Its water is full of which is from the nearby Svartsengi geothermal power plant. Source: Lonely Planet   2. Thermae Bath Spa, England So romantic! The Thermae Bath Spa in Bath, England took second place on the list. Here can be found the only hot spring in Great Britain, where the water  has been enjoyed by many throughout history from the Celts to the Saxons. According to the legend, the spring was discovered around 863 by a king named Bladud. From the outdoor pool we can admire the ornate buildings of Bath Abbey. If that's not enough, this city can also boast with the world's largest biologically active lake with natural medicinal water. The thermal complex can also be visited in the winter and its natural thermal water has a temperature of around 38°C in the summer.   4. Bains de Dorres, France A magnificent view! The water of this small thermal spring in the Pyrenees has a temperature of 37-40 °C. The thermal bath offers a magnificent view of the mountains, as it is located at an altitude of 1450 meters. According to some sources, the thermal spring has been already known in Roman times. Source: Christoph Boutet - France.fr   5. Therme Vals, Switzerland Alpine style. A minimalist and modern bathing complex 200 kms from Zurich, with hydrotherapy and an experience of night bathing. Source: 7132.com   6. Pala Kameni, Greece Nature's mud pack! The volcanic island in the Santorini caldera can of course only be reached by boat and is famous for its sulphurous mud, which is also suitable for therapy. Anyone looking for the most authentic spa experience should definitely avoid the tourist high season. Source: Palea Kameni by Sergio Canobbio- greece.com   7. Szechenyi Bath, Hungary Space for everyone! The Széchenyi Spa in Budapest took the seventh place with the motto “There is room for everyone”. The neo-baroque bath with its 18 different pools, 10 saunas and a steam bath is one of the most important sights of the capital. Source: Szállás.hu   8. Kaiser-Friedrich-Therme, Germany A rural sight to behold! In the Art Nouveau building, which is more than 100 years old, the atmosphere of the baths from the past are brought to life. In truth, its history goes way further as it was built on the site of an old Roman sauna. Forrás: Joerg Halisch   9. Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic Calming from the inside out! Karlovy Vary or “Karlstadt”, one of the most famous spa towns in Europe, which was founded by the Roman Emperor Karl and is best known for its effective mineral waters, both externally and internally. Rogner Bad Blumau, Austria 16. Chateau des Thermes, Belgium 17. Terme di Saturnia, Italy 18. Klevevška Toplica, Slovenia 19. Aqua Dome, Austria 20. Piešťany, Slovakia   Which one is your favourite? tartalom: + 1 The IMTM 2023 – International Mediterranean Tourism Market was held two months ago in Expo Tel Aviv for the first time after COVID. The exhibition was a success. Endless booths and representations of both countries and private tourism providers alike. Walking between the cubicles and meeting hundreds of professionals, I suddenly noticed a small modest counter in a remote corner with the Hungarian flag. There I met Petr Ostrovkin, an impressive businessman with his intrepetor. I was curious about the product he was trying to market – a hotel in Hungary he owns on a small lake I never heard of. Petr invited me to visit and within a few weeks I found myself spending an incredible time by Europe’s largest thermal basin – lake Hévíz, chick to chick with Lake Balton.
There I investigated, discovered and experienced – why do Hungarians desire top thermal baths so much. Or, is it true that Hungary is indeed a “bathing world-power”.  The explanation is rather straightforward – history, tradition and geography are all mixed, like a traditional Jewish Cholent. The Romans that ruled in ancient Hungary left first their famous mark here. They had bathing and cleaning habits. Bathing was an important part of their lifestyle, which meant refreshing the body and soul. They built baths in this region, mainly for their military forces. Several private baths were also framed by wealthy Romans in their mansions. It is believed that the Roman healers built separate bathing complexes for those who were in poor health condition.   Hungarian bath culture started flourishing with medieval Turkish rule – an art wall creation in Rudas bath, Budapest (photo by Motti Verses) Going back in time – Rudas turkish style sink, Budapest (photo by Motti Verses) However it is believed that the Hungarian bath culture started flourishing with medieval Turkish rule. The Ottoman Empire, historically  the Turkish Empire, controlled much of southeast Europe, including Hungary. They are the ones that lay down the foundations of thermal baths. The Ottomans also introduced people to the habits of their wellness treatments. Massages, body creams and oils. The Turks valued bathing as both a cleansing ritual and social gathering. The Hungarians were doubtful. Only the Turks were allowed to use the baths during the day. Curious Hungarians only went to the thermal baths at night-time, especially in Budapest that was and still is a city of bathing power. The rest is history. Over the years these baths became part of a balanced life culture in Hungary. Bearing in mind that the country has no access to an ocean or a sea, relying on Lake Balaton for recreational needs, local baths flourished. The neighbors in Austria, once part of the joint dual Monarchy under the name Austro-Hungarian Empire, similarly love thermal baths . Lake Hévíz, Europe’s largest thermal basin (photo by Motti Verses) Endless steam – Lake Hévíz (photo by Motti Verses) A small creek with water coming from the lake- similar as the hotel thermal baths (photo by Motti Verses) No wonder the small Lake Hévíz, Europe’s largest thermal basin is an extremely popular destination – a two hours drive, either from Budapest or Vienna. It is 38.5 meters deep, with 410 liters per second water flow rate and biologically volcanically active – a natural thermal lake with magical health capabilities. Some call it the fountain of life. Since 1795 these healing waters helped people to recover and regain their strength. Most visitors return home refreshed and rejuvenated. Experts indicate that the chemical ingredients of cold and hot water springs, with 40 degrees of sulphuric medicinal water here, are richer than those in thermal baths in Budapest. Hévíz is where Petr Ostrovkin’s hotel is. He hopes Israelis will in time flock to his shimmering estate. His Lotus Therme Hotel & Spa offers 232 rooms and suites and is an ultimate destination for a relaxing and therapeutic vacation. The hotel is located in a gigantic natural park within walking distance to Lake Hévíz. This walk is rather surreal along a small creek with steam water coming from the lake. Our visit was just recently but the temperatures were low and a constant drizzle dominated our stay. Endless steam evaporates as the water temperature is very high. Guests may enjoy Lake Hévíz mineral water reaching the spa via pipes. Definitely the most rewarding experiences one can enjoy here. Lotus Therme is a pampering traditional hotel. A variety of different indoor pools in contrasting water temperatures are offered. The great jacuzzi was the strongest I have ever experienced. The main round pool is heated, but does not contain healing water. Pouring rain while your body is soaked deep in hot water is just paradise. We loved our morning swim in this well maintained pool. A unique experience in any weather conditions. The wellness spa offers a variety of treatments with Lake Hévíz products, however we did not experience them. The pampering pools were just fantastic. The daily scenery from the room balcony – total relaxation (photo by Motti Verses) A great experience while swimming – constant drizzle with steam evaporation, as the water temperature is very high (photo by Motti Verses) The relaxing lobby of Lotus Therme Hotel & Spa (photo by Motti Verses) Lotus is the key element here as this water flower really blossoms on this never surprising natural wonder. Apparently they like the volcanic water and always thrive in warm water with a need room to grow. The lake provides the perfect environment and the hotel wisely promotes this unique phenomenon as a marketing tool in its logo and with endless art creations all over the facilities. Advertisement   Hungarians and Austrians might carry a mosaic of a historical ambivalent relationship, but both people surly adore Lake Hévíz. The majority of guests in the hotel originate from those countries that share love for thermal baths. Lotus Therme Hotel & Spa is offering both food and entertainment with this fact in mind. Pleasant veteran General Manager Attila Fulop is heading skilled team members that work here for many years. Dressed with formal clothes they all recognize the guests who keep returning here. Loyal customers are the best proof for success. The menu at dinner is different each evening and the variety is one of the most generous I have seen. The bar is crowded each night and live dancing with different musicians each day are offered here. Guests of all ages are actually dancing. General Manager Fulop knows his work. A dream of a good hotelier is to keep his guests in its premises and not looking for alternatives elsewhere. Will Israelis flock to Hévíz? Hamat Gader hot springs site in the Yarmouk River valley, used since the classical antiquity, is one of the most popular attractions for Israelis. With that in mind and the endless daily flights from Ben Gurion airport to Budapest, the potential is certainly there. Especially in winter when the flight costs are rock bottom. Hévíz here we come.

tartalom: + 1 The Cross and the Star There is a small eye-catching building in Helikon Street in Hévíz. At its peaks, the symbols -a cross and a star - indicate that we are in a sacred place. There is also a column next to it erected to commemorate the 500th anniversary of the Reformation with the inscription in Hungarian 'Az ige kőszálként megáll', which is a quote from Psalm 46 meaning 'That word above all earthly powers'.     Although only a few Protestant residents were registered in Hévíz, a collection was in procession for the construction of a Protestant church by the guests staying here in the 1930s. Bálint Szeghalmy also made a plan in 1941. The money donation was collected for its implementation, but the raging war stopped his dream to become real. Finally in 1993, Hévíz donated a plot of land to build a joint Lutheran-Reformed church. The Lutheran and Reformed congregations decided to implement the old plan of Bálint Szeghalmy in a slightly modernized version, prepared by architect Mihály Zoób.     The cross placed on the gable of the church was carved out of white marble at the contractor's own expense. The bell is a donation from the family of Károly Borsos. The foundation stone was placed down on June 16, 1997, and the first service was held on December 6, 1998. In 2003, the church was enriched with the winged altarpiece of the Kossuth and Munkácsy Prize-winning tapestry artist Rózsa Polgár, and in 2004 with the organ designed and built by the organ builder Albert Miklós from Győr.   The Heart of Jesus Church, also known as Fradi Church In 1905, in the neighbourhood of the Roman ruins in the Egregy district of Hévíz, a two-storey bell tower was erected in place of the wooden belfry that had stood there for more than 100 years. In 1937, from local donations, the bell tower was expanded with another level and a tin roof. It was built in a Neo-Romanesque style with twin windows. Two bells were placed in the tower, a smaller one in honor of Mary Magdalene, which was cast in 1905, and a larger one in memory of the 16 heroic soldiers of Egregy who fell in World War I. The latter was made in 1937. In memory of the heroes, 16 linden trees were planted next to the tower, with a head tree at their base.     The bell tower was then renovated in 1990 with the voluntary donation of the people of Egregy, and on April 22, 1995 it was consecrated as the Church of the Heart of Jesus. And why is it called Fradi Church by the locals? Because the church, which was built largely from donations, received unexpected help, as the Ferencváros Gymnastics Club (a famous Hungarian football team from Budapest, nicknamed as Fradi) was also among the donors as well. Not only did the supporters make a financial contribution, but the team and club leadership were present at the consecration of the church. They even donated Fradi Relics to the church (most recently in 2017), which visitors of the church could see in a display case. In light of this, it is not surprising that the church, originally designed in blue and white, was eventually painted green and white which are the official colours of the football team.     Next to the church, a military memorial park was established in 2000 to commemorate the soldiers, civilians and Jewish victims of Egregy and Hévízszentandrás who fell in the First and Second World Wars. In doing so, 70 named headstones were erected. However, only 6 remained of the former 16 linden trees planted.     The Catholic Church on the shores of Lake Hévíz The western shore of Lake Hévíz (today's Schulhof Promenade and the area of the hospital buildings) used to belong partly to the village of Szentandrás and partly to the bishopric of Veszprém. These areas became the property of the Festetics family in 1857 and 1868 through land swaps. Soon after the expansion of the bath land near the lake and landscaping could begin. The row of the completed (except for one building) 7 bath buildings was completed by a chapel. Its construction began in the 1870s and was consecrated in 1877.     We only have a few old engravings and postcards from the chapel, and we also found only a few photos of the inside. The chapel was finally demolished in 1964, when the most modern balneotherapy center in the country was built in its place in the most modern architectural style of the time. It is essentially the hospital’s indoor thermal bath, the Winter Bath, today’s Indoor Bath and Therapy Center, which was handed over in 1968.     The altar of the old Church is going to be exhibited soon on the renovated Shulhof Promenade.   The Holy Spirit Church The most modern and well-known church can be seen from the beginning of the main street leading to the city, as its blue peaks rise high. The church opposite the town hall, which can accommodate up to 1,000 people, was built according to the plans of János Bocskai and was consecrated on September 9, 1999 by retired Archbishop József Szendi.     Breaking into the seven (5 middle and 2 side) towers, the tower guides its visitors to the city from afar. The seven towers symbolize the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit, while the pigeon motif symbolizing the Holy Spirit appears in several places on the building (even the shape of the church looks like a dove opening its wings if we look at the church from the air). On the one hand, in the floor plan of the church, in the design of the floor in front of the entrance, in the motifs of the interior wood and in the painting of the glass window above the main altar.     The interior of the church combines modern architecture and tradition, which is mainly emphasized by the beautiful wood paneling. Due to its good acoustics, it often hosts organ and acoustic concerts. The colorful windows, reminiscent of Gothic style, praise the work of Simon Endre, an artist from Hévíz. The torso on the wall of the sanctuary is a 200-year-old art treasure that was donated to the church. The bronze statue of Christ on the left side of the altar and the statue of Our Lady of Hungary wearing the crown on the right side are also the work of László Marton. The walls are decorated with fire enamel pictures. No bells were placed in the tallest tower for static reasons, but 2-2 bells were placed in the towers to the left and right. Two bells were brought here from 2 old churches in Hévíz, while the other two were donated by families in Hévíz. By the way, the church is mostly mentioned only by the locals and guests as "Blue Church".   The Synagogue, only a memory If we walk towards the Protective Forest of the Lake, next to the entrance to the Deák Square of the Lake Bath, a monument appears at the foot of the trees in the park. The synagogue of Hévíz used to stand here. The lines of the monument evoke the facade of the building of the former house of prayer, with names on it that were once taken from here to death. Among others, dr. Chief physician Vilmos Schulhof.     There were not many Jews living in Hévíz, it is estimated that there could be no more than 2-3% of the population, yet this community was strong enough to build a synagogue in 1933. It is a strange game of fate that the building survived both the Holocaust and the war fortunately, but by 1959 the religious life in Hévíz had ceased. As a result, the house of prayer was not used, its condition greatly deteriorated, so it was demolished in 1977. The monument, erected in 2000, in its simplicity commemorates the former synagogue on the one hand and the former local Jewry on the other, and the pebbles placed on it indicate that faith has survived.   Árpádian church in Egregy, the Church of St. Magdalene The exact time of construction of the church is unknown, it was probably built around mid-13th century. It is first mentioned in written records in 1341. The building was badly damaged in the 16-17th century, and was later renovated in the Baroque era in 1731. Fortunately, only the most necessary parts were repaired, so the medieval form of the church has been preserved. During this renovation, the interior and exterior decorative paintings, the elevation of the ship, and the vaults were also replaced. The first patron saint of the church was St. Catherine of Alexandria. After the rebuilding, it was rededicated and its new patron saint became St. Magdalene. Since then, the church has been restored several more times: in 1860, 1912, 1964-65, 1990 and 1991, and most recently in 2015.     On the south side of the church, we can find an open baroque door. The vault of the tower was renovated in the 18th century and is joined by a rectangular nave with a sanctuary. Inside the church, the only decorative element,  is the row of booths on the north wall. The wall painting of the church is not of medieval origin, but it shows respect for the folk elements. Inside the building, there is a fragment of a Romanesque baptismal font and a medieval consecrated cross.   Its tower has three floors and a rich design, with two and three twin windows opening on the levels. The tower is closed by a bucket helmet, which is stiffened by eight wooden beams. In terms of its foundations, it mainly preserved the forms of wooden architecture. Painted decorations and incised shapes have survived on the exterior surfaces. The church may have remained in this form because it lost its significance during the centuries. The former settlement was largely depopulated, the inhabitants moved a little further down the valley, so this church only served as a cemetery chapel. Therefore, it was not important to expand or transform it significantly.   An Orthodox church built in honor of the “Life-giving Source” icon of the Holy Mother of God The foundation stone of the Orthodox church was placed down on 27 December, 2019 in Hévíz. The church which is still under construction will be accessible from Ady Street.     Construction of the church began in the spring of 2020. As metropolitan Mark put it: their choice fell on Hévíz because here the healing of body and soul is possible at the same time, and because Hévíz boasts that Emperor Theodosius owed his life to the water of Hévíz and became one of the most influential in the Roman Empire according to an old legend. The church is based on the plans of the Ybl-awarded architect László Vánca. The 15x15 meter church is traditionally made of brick, with masterfully smoothed corners on its sending walls showing the asymmetrical relief niches, which are masterful combinations of modern and ancient motifs. The Orthodox tower helmet will be adorned with an eight-pointed gold-clad cross. Although the church is not yet finished within the walls under construction, services are already being held.   Explore our beautiful city and see the many faces of the churches in town!

tartalom: + 1 While Lake Balaton is the biggest freshwater lake in Central Europe, Lake Hévíz is the world’s biggest thermal lake that is also suitable for bathing. The source of Lake Balaton is a river called Zala, while Lake Hévíz has its source from a cave underneath the lake. The water of Lake Balaton flows through the Sió channel into the river Danube, however, the water of Lake Hévíz flows into the Gyöngyös stream, then to Small Balaton and ends up in Lake Balaton. The deepest point of Lake Balaton is about 11 metres in contrast to Lake Hévíz, where the source point is 38.5 metres deep. The surface of the water of Lake Balaton is 600 km2 whereas Lake Hévíz has only a 0.0475 km2 water surface. Due to the great water output of Lake Hévíz, the complete water of the lake is replaced in every 72 hours. Regarding Lake Balaton, this phenomenon takes almost two years. The temperature of Lake Balaton can be as high as 28°C on hot summer days; however, during cold winters the upper layers of the water can freeze. The ice can even grow 25 cm thick. On the other hand, the temperature of Lake Hévíz never goes below 23°C, not even in the winter. In the summer, the water of Lake Hévíz is about 35-36°C hot. We would be able to swim around Lake Hévíz in about half an hour if the buildings did not prevent us from doing so. Nonetheless, a week wouldn’t be enough to swim around Lake Balaton. Lake Balaton is full of both summertime and wintertime activities: you can rent a boat or a paddleboat, you can surf, sail and try out many extreme sports, while in the winter you can ice skate or slide if the ice is thick enough. In Lake Hévíz, you may only bath; however, you can do so every day of the year. The water of Lake Balaton is qualified as drinking water, whereas the water of Lake Hévíz is medicinal water also suitable for cures and many people drink it. In Lake Balaton, you can bath all day long, while, in Lake Hévíz, it is advisable to stay only thirty minutes at a time. We can even walk into Lake Balaton from the shores, while into Lake Hévíz we can descend into the water through stairs since the water is 2 metres deep around the shores as well. The typical flora of Lake Balaton is the reed which is mostly located around the shores. Lake Hévíz is famous for the beautiful water lilies that float around the whole Lake. Both lakes are rich in different species of fish. The mud of Lake Balaton is quite popular with kids who love playing with it on the beaches. On the other hand, the mud of Lake Hévíz is favoured by adults, who like to use the mud on their bodies due to its medical benefits. Lake Balaton as a touristic region is the second most popular region in Hungary after Budapest. At the same time, Hévíz, following Budapest, has the greatest number of guest nights in Hungary. Lake Balaton offers spectacular views whether you are watching it in the embrace of monadnocks, admiring it in a storm, or you are taking photos of the birds gathering along the crevasses or of the bellying sails. The crystal clear turquoise colour of Lake Hévíz, the blooming water lilies floating on it, the whirling mist above it, the reflection of the buildings at night, and to be aware that you are floating above 38.5 meters are a mystical feeling. Both Lake Balaton and Lake Hévíz are national treasures, which have evolved over millions of years as they are today. They are not for us, but we enjoy all the good that they can give us. We have to save and protect them so that the future generations would be able to enjoy the unparalleled natural beauty they provide.

Few people know that in the last century, a grand synagogue stood in what was once Hévízfürdő. It served not only as a sacred place for the local Jewish community but also for the many visiting spa guests. Although the building is no longer visible today, the city still preserves its memory.

tartalom: + 1 The Birth of a House of Prayer – Hévíz’s Religious Diversity In the early 20th century, many Jewish guests came to Hévíz to enjoy the healing effects of the lake. As religious visitors needed a place to pray, a modest prayer house was built in 1905 next to the lake's outflow channel, near Ignác Lusztig’s guesthouse called “Jerusalem.” However, the small building quickly became too cramped as the spa resort grew in popularity. (Sharp-eyed readers may spot the prayer house's location on this 1925 map) By the late 1920s, the growing community and increasing number of spa visitors made it necessary to build a larger, more representative synagogue. One of the key initiators of the new building was Dr. Adolf Kertész, a lawyer from Budapest who was a devoted supporter of Hévíz’s development and religious life. He submitted a request to Prince Tasziló Festetics II, who generously provided land for the synagogue free of charge. Fundraising began in 1929, and in 1930 the Israelite Synagogue Association of Hévízfürdő was established. It operated fully independently but functioned as a branch of the Keszthely Jewish community. Construction was completed in 1933 at a cost of approximately 20,000 pengő. The town also contributed: the municipal council of Hévízszentandrás donated 1,000 pengő, recognizing the importance of boosting tourism. 1933 – A Ceremonial Inauguration in a Growing Town The Hévíz synagogue was officially inaugurated on July 2, 1933. The ceremony was attended by Dr. Lajos Glück, chief rabbi of Keszthely, who gave the opening address. Distinguished figures from the spa town and local community were also present, including Sándor Stern, the synagogue’s first trustee, and Mór Weisz, president of the local Jewish community. The event attracted great interest and was significant not only for locals but for visiting spa guests as well. Caught in the Storm of History Hévíz was not spared the tragedies of World War II. In 1944, the Jewish community was deported, and many never returned. Several members from Hévíz were taken to Auschwitz. According to records, Dr. Vilmos Schulhof, Hévíz’s spa physician, was also among the Holocaust victims. Dr. Schulhof played a vital role not only as a doctor but also as a community leader. Many of the synagogue’s former visitors and supporters perished in concentration camps, including Mór Weisz, Sándor Stern, and other local residents. After the war, the abandoned synagogue remained empty and slowly fell into ruin. By the late 1960s, it was in a dilapidated state and was eventually demolished in 1977. For decades, nothing stood on the site, as if a piece of history had vanished without a trace. Preserving the Memory Fortunately, the city of Hévíz did not forget its past. In 2000, a memorial was erected on the site of the former synagogue. Its design recalls the original building and commemorates the victims of the Holocaust. The plans were developed with the help of city officials and local historians, and Chief Rabbi Tamás Raj delivered the speech at the unveiling ceremony. This quiet yet powerful memorial site continues to invite visitors to pay tribute to those who were once an integral part of Hévíz’s community. Brought Back to Life – Virtually Though the synagogue no longer stands, today it is possible to explore it through a virtual tour. Thanks to a digital reconstruction, anyone can step inside and imagine what the interior might have looked like in its full glory. (You can view the rotatable 3D model at this link) If you’re curious to see how the Hévíz synagogue looked in its heyday, click here and explore it through a virtual walk!

tartalom: + 1 Why not? It is possible outside of the heated indoor baths as well! The temperature of Europe’s largest thermal lake is about as high as 30°C even in the autumn! In the early autumn weather, it is a really refreshing experience to swim in the warm water or to bathe at the beach. You don’t believe us? Try it yourself! It is not a coincidence that our frequent guests tend to choose the autumn months for their stay since they can still enjoy our bath when the beaches of Lake Balaton are already too cold to visit. See the city before and after your bath! Which city should you see first? Hévíz, Keszthely, Tapolca, Badacsony, Szigliget… There are so many experiences waiting for only you to discover in the West-Balaton area! It is not too hot anymore, but the cold weather is still far away, so we have the best weather for some exploring! Even in Hévíz or in the 40 km area of Hévíz you will be sure to find some exciting programs, let it be seeing some old castle ruins with the best view to Lake Balaton or having a boat trip inside of the famous cave lake. What’s more, most of these attractions are quite easily accessible with bicycles as well thanks to the bicycle road on the shores of Lake Balaton. And what if you do not want to travel so much? Choose a nice restaurant and treat yourself with the best Hungarian dishes! Wellness or keeping fit? Why not both? The warm thermal lake is given, and the many programs as well in the surrounding hills, lakes, and forests. A little wellness for the night will be provided for you from the very best. Let it be relaxing massages, saunas, or beauty treatments, you will find a wide range selection almost everywhere in Hévíz, including modern therapies as well. However, Hévíz is not just a regular bath city: our medical therapies are almost 200 years old, so Hévíz is the perfect destination to treat your summer sport injuries or your back issues you got from your home office. One thing is sure: Hévíz will make you fit!   Why Hévíz? Hévíz is a small town with a population of 5,000 people, a kind atmosphere, and tourists from all over the world. Hévíz is quite appealing for many people due to its closeness to Lake Balaton, its traditions, and its purity. Leave the noisy, crowded big cities behind! A city with comfortable beds, quality leisure time activates, green areas, fine dishes, and evening entertainment… and broadband Internet connection. And you won’t have to travel too far! Most people speak in English and German, but more and more Czech and Slovakian guides can be found in the city! You will of course find here international cuisine with many Hungarian dishes. And Lake Balaton and the most beautiful baroque castle of Hungary can be found only 7 kms from here! Where to start? Where to stay? Click on Hévíz in an application with a map, and you’ll know how much you need to travel only in 2 minutes!
