On March 5 this year, the HÉVÍZ Tourism Association organized the selection of the Wine of the City of Hévíz for 2026. The ceremonial award presentation of the prestigious recognition took place on May 1, on the Day of the City of Hévíz.
The jubilee, now 20th edition of the City Wine selection was held in an excellent atmosphere, where the finest wines of the Zala wine region competed against each other. This year, 12 wineries from Zala entered a total of 24 wines into the competition. Based on the joint decision of the social and professional jury, the prestigious title was awarded to a white wine that will represent Hévíz for one year at city events and tourism occasions.
The coordinator of the event was Szabolcs Pöltl, while the professional jury was chaired by Krisztián Kielmayer.
Once again, the focus of the event was on the wineries and wine cellars of the Zala region. To the delight of the organizers, a large number of entries were submitted in response to the call, clearly demonstrating the strength and unity of the region’s wine community. Year after year, the Zala wine region produces an increasing number of outstanding quality wines that rightfully enhance the reputation of the region.
The title of Wine of the City of Hévíz 2026 was ultimately awarded to the 2025 Cserszegi Fűszeres by Romsics Bence Borprojekt. With its distinctive aromas and freshness, the winning wine will be a worthy representative of the city of Hévíz throughout the coming year.
