tartalom: + 1 Kányavári Island The arched wooden bridge built from wooden beams in the 1980s has now become a symbol of Kis-Balaton. We can enjoy a wonderful view from the bridge. We can admire such special waterfowl as the great egret, gray heron, or the cormorant, which is less popular with fishermen. On the one-and-a-half kilometer long Búbosvöcsök nature trail, 15 signs present the fish, birds, and mammals of the Little Balaton. You can also fish on the island and you can spy the water and the Zalai hills from two lookouts. In cooler weather, a little indoor attraction is good The Kis-Balaton Visitor Center is an exhibition of the Balaton Upland National Park that has only been open for 2 years. It is an excellent choice for the whole family all year round. You can walk along an interactive nature trail on the building's green-roofed structure, which looks like wildlife crossings. From here you can clearly see the winter bird feeders and you can hear the "opening song" of the ever more active black tit. The building houses a gift shop and a restaurant, and children can enjoy fresh air on the playground in the courtyard, while parents refresh themselves with coffee. Part of the exhibition is the cinema, where during a half-hour film we can get to know the winter-summer, autumn-spring life of Kis-Balaton through soul-touching quotes selected from the novels of István Fekete Tüskevár and Téli berek, all in the understanding interpretation of Gábor Reviczky. In the interactive part of the exhibition, we can find out what invasive species are and why we don't like them. We will find out what the role of Little Balaton is in protecting the water quality of Lake Balaton, and we can even examine water samples ourselves. Those who want to see even more of this magical wildlife can take part in a guided canoe tour organized by the Balaton Upland National Park from early spring to late autumn. The winter canoeing season has also started on the Hévíz stream. Those who take part in this can row along the Hévíz stream and then the Gyöngyös stream, and get to know this unique wetland. The end point of the rowing tour is Diás Island, where the Matula hut, evoking the atmosphere of Tüskevár, stands. At the István Fekete Memorial next to the small wooden hut, you can also delve into the hidden wonders of Kis-Balaton during a very interesting exhibition. Our secret tip is the bird watch and fish ladder Several locations in Kis-Balaton, such as the aforementioned Diás island, can only be visited with a guide, but there are still quite a few romantic and protected areas that can be visited freely without a guide. Next to the Zala river, at the dam of Lake Hídvégi, you can find the Madárvártara, which was built by Zurich students from thousands of acacia logs without any nails or screws. Next to the parking lot, 100 meters away on the fish ladder, depending on the season, you can marvel at the cavalcade of fish. The fish ladder between the Zala River and Lake Hidvégi slows down the flow of water, so that fish can easily swim upstream.   Buffaloes and other types of animals In the Kápolnapuszta buffalo reserve, in addition to the black giants, the ground squirrels are the favorites of children and adults, who cutely graze on the grass grazed by the buffaloes. Anyone who did not know János Arany's poem Arany Lacinak would not even think that the poor groundhog was "cast". Even at the beginning of the 20th century, groundhogs were considered harmful and therefore water was poured into their passages. Other spectacular animals are the jumping goats and donkeys in the petting zoo. In the colonies dug into the loess wall, the gophers attract attention with their brightly colored feathers. But what about buffaloes? The Balaton Upland National Park started breeding water buffalo in the area purchased in 1992 for the purpose of gene conservation. The largest herd of buffaloes in the country can be found in the territory of the reserve, which lives in great peace with the gray cattle. During the winter, the animals spend most of their time in the barn near the entrance, where you can see the traditional animal husbandry in a cozy old photo next to the buffaloes. In case of good weather, the animals are in the pastures, which can be reached in the easiest way by a horse-drawn carriage ordered from the reception building. The giants are "buffalo-strong" and do not necessarily always approach people with friendly intentions, and driving through them in a horse-drawn carriage is a real "safari" feeling. A new feature of the reserve is the viewing platform, which was handed over on January 28, from which we can now also observe the animals from above. (GPS: 46.581816, 17.20314) Kis-Balaton House, cultural trip Next to Zalavár, next to the foundation walls of the former St. Adorján church and the Cyril and Methodius memorial column, you can enjoy photos of the wonders of Zala county in a very cool Millennium Memorial designed by Imre Makovecz. You can read the names of the county's settlements in the letters hanging from the top of the specially shaped dome. At the Kis-Balatonház exhibition, you can learn about the living world, and children can have fun on the playground. Next to the Kis-Balaton Ház, you can reach the Kányavári island on the asphalted bicycle path on the banks of the Zala river. At the Kis-Balaton Ház you can also rent a bicycle, if you don't start on the asphalted Zala coast, but in the other direction, you can even go as far as Zalaapáti on the embankment.   Are you interested in more hiking tips in the area? Click here, because you can browse through many hiking trails, even with the help of a map.   [galeria]

27. Human experiments in Hévíz

400 miners - That's how many people were needed in 1976 to try a health experiment.

lead: 400 miners - That's how many people were needed in 1976 to try a health experiment.
tartalom: + 1 We did not find any description of whether the miners, 200 of them, volunteered for the 5-year scientific observation, having no idea how well they would do. After a thorough medical examination, 400 healthy subjects were selected for the test. Based on experience, the basic premise was that 5 years of hard physical work is very taxing for the body, so miners develop more locomotor complaints after so many years, the number of partial disabilities increases and the rate of illnesses is higher. It is a well-known fact that musculoskeletal diseases are very common among people living unhealthy and/or sedentary lifestyles, as well as people who perform heavy physical work. In this regard, numerous investigations were carried out both at home and abroad in the 1960s and 1970s. What did they want to prove? At the same time, the doctors in Hévíz believed that balneotherapy (performed with water) and physiotherapeutic (performed with movement) cures in Hévíz are useful in preventing such diseases. Preventive treatment can reduce the risk of developing locomotor diseases, workers will spend less time in sick bays, and the cost of their medical treatments will be lower. In 1976, 400 miners were found to be healthy. 200 of them were included in the control group, those who had not been on a medical holiday in Hévíz for 5 years, had not received any health-preserving treatment anywhere. However, the other 200 lucky miners spent 3 weeks in the spa town every year, at the cost of their vacation, where they swam in the warm water of Lake Hévíz, received massage and mud treatments, took part in physical therapy, and received additional treatments. The preventive cures in Hévíz were not only useful and enjoyable for the 200 miners, but the research also ended with very positive results. After 5 years, in 1981, at the then Hévíz State Spa Hospital, it was established that among the 200 miners in the "untreated" control group, significantly more people became disabled and spent significantly more time in the infirmary than those who received preventive treatment. The health status of the regularly treated group clearly remains much better despite the same and equally demanding hard physical work as the control group. But this was not enough proof of the effectiveness of typical Hévíz medicinal water cures! In 1988, another study was conducted at the Hévíz State Spa Hospital, now involving 227 volunteers. In the 1980s, they tried to convince employers why it was worth sending their employees on medical leave. In the case of the 227 people, they were interested in the number of days spent in the patient population. However, the extent of this can mean a significant loss of manpower/a decrease in productivity for a company. They selected 227 patients who were treated with the same locomotor complaint, but 107 of them received medication only, while 120 were treated with a complex spa treatment repeated every year. An astonishing result was achieved in the examined period! The 120 patients who received regular spa treatments spent a total of 885 days in the hospital. In contrast, the 107 members of the control group spent 5,430 days! That's six times the number! This is such a significant difference that it had to be recognized that spa treatments regenerate people much more effectively. Today, it is considered natural that preventive and recreational complex cures and health programs are important not only for those who perform heavy physical work. In Europe, more and more people are participating in so-called manager cures, which serve to regenerate the physical and mental performance of managers who are overburdened with mental work. These are periods of two to three weeks, during which the participants run a lot, swim, eat healthy, and relax, which in many cases includes a digital detox (a period without smart devices). Don't have time for such a long vacation? Don't be discouraged! Try an intensive health program in Hévíz and you have already taken the first step towards a fitter Me. Take part in the human experiment yourself!BodyReboot in Hévíz! lead: Bathing in an experience pool with a massaging back shower, in a 34-36°C warm thermal pool or in the indoor pools of Lake Bath: relaxation is guaranteed.
tartalom: + 1 The cold, foggy, rainy winter days seem to be easily survivable only when viewed from a warm room. It goes without saying that in Hévíz we recommend a pleasantly warm bath to everyone. Unwind with the power of steam! In Hévíz, if you want really warm water, you can bathe in the indoor and outdoor spa and thermal waters of the Hévíz Tófürdő or the wellness hotels. If you are willing to take on extra experiences, bathe outside in the Hévíz lake, even when it is snowing, in the warm water of the swimming pool, which is approximately 23-25°C. If you want to be sure, you can choose the indoor and outdoor thermal pools of spa and wellness hotels for the guaranteed 36°C water. Want to actively sweat? As soon as the colder autumn days arrive, the stones of the saunas in Hévíz are already heating up. It is no coincidence that the most popular autumn-winter spa experience is sauna. Pores expand in the steam of Finnish saunas. The hot air permeates every part of us and has a beneficial effect not only on our well-being, but also on the functioning of the immune system. Take a sauna anywhere, anytime to keep yourself fresh, and take a sauna with friends for the sake of the experience, because the professional sauna masters not only fill your body, but also your soul with new energy! Melt with the power of steam! Of course, you can not only warm up in traditional Finnish saunas. In the wellness hotels, steam cabins, infrared saunas, scented individual or couples' bathtubs, and light therapy equipment also help you forget the cold weather outside. If we are really lucky, we can crown the day with an outdoor hot tub. All that is good: in one! And this is the Hévíz medicinal mud massage to the core. The thick black mud, heated to around 40°C, is applied thickly on the skin and then massaged over the entire body surface. As the mud slowly cools, our skin warms up. After the massage, a very thorough warm bath is recommended, which can also be combined with swimming in 34-36°C medicinal water.
Walk, jog, hike! Forget that it's not sunny and 30°C! Put on warm shoes, layered clothes, a wind and waterproof jacket, and you can start an exciting tour! In the vicinity of Hévíz, whether you head in the direction of Rezi, Lake Balaton or Kis-Balaton, you will find numerous well-marked hiking trails. But, if you were only walking here in the city, we recommend the Tavirózsa Tanösvény, whose 2.2 km long route leads around Lake Hévíz, in the 'lower' and 'upper' Véderdő. Even if you don't go far from the city, you can recharge your energy by walking along the forest roads, move your muscles and enjoy the fresh and clean air, while you can catch a glimpse of the steaming thermal water from several points of the promenade - even from the canopy promenade. One thing is for sure, a hearty walk will definitely warm you up. Is it too cold for outdoor sports or is it raining? Jump over to Alsópáhok and test yourself in the Adrenalin Arena! Row on a steaming stream! Find a friendly tour guide and join the challenge! You will have a wonderful experience on the warm flowing water of Lake Hévíz, on the Hévíz stream. The approximately 3-hour program includes 10 km of paddling, for which you do not need to be a professional canoeist, and you can even take on the distance with children. Bring warm clothes and maybe a pillow under your bottom, and the organizers will provide you with professional equipment and hot drinks during the journey and at the end of the distance. But if you paddle, you won't get cold! Invite yourself over for a hot drink! You don't even have to get up from the armchair or move away from the bar to warm us up! Order yourself a warm punch, a hot coffee, tea, chocolate, or perhaps a spicy mulled wine and you can already feel like the emperor of life, as long as you let the steaming drink in your palm sip, so that the minutes just tick by carefree.

33. The Forgotten Synagogue of Hévíz – Memories of a Bygone Era

tartalom: + 1 The Birth of a House of Prayer – Hévíz’s Religious Diversity In the early 20th century, many Jewish guests came to Hévíz to enjoy the healing effects of the lake. As religious visitors needed a place to pray, a modest prayer house was built in 1905 next to the lake's outflow channel, near Ignác Lusztig’s guesthouse called “Jerusalem.” However, the small building quickly became too cramped as the spa resort grew in popularity. (Sharp-eyed readers may spot the prayer house's location on this 1925 map) By the late 1920s, the growing community and increasing number of spa visitors made it necessary to build a larger, more representative synagogue. One of the key initiators of the new building was Dr. Adolf Kertész, a lawyer from Budapest who was a devoted supporter of Hévíz’s development and religious life. He submitted a request to Prince Tasziló Festetics II, who generously provided land for the synagogue free of charge. Fundraising began in 1929, and in 1930 the Israelite Synagogue Association of Hévízfürdő was established. It operated fully independently but functioned as a branch of the Keszthely Jewish community. Construction was completed in 1933 at a cost of approximately 20,000 pengő. The town also contributed: the municipal council of Hévízszentandrás donated 1,000 pengő, recognizing the importance of boosting tourism. 1933 – A Ceremonial Inauguration in a Growing Town The Hévíz synagogue was officially inaugurated on July 2, 1933. The ceremony was attended by Dr. Lajos Glück, chief rabbi of Keszthely, who gave the opening address. Distinguished figures from the spa town and local community were also present, including Sándor Stern, the synagogue’s first trustee, and Mór Weisz, president of the local Jewish community. The event attracted great interest and was significant not only for locals but for visiting spa guests as well. Caught in the Storm of History Hévíz was not spared the tragedies of World War II. In 1944, the Jewish community was deported, and many never returned. Several members from Hévíz were taken to Auschwitz. According to records, Dr. Vilmos Schulhof, Hévíz’s spa physician, was also among the Holocaust victims. Dr. Schulhof played a vital role not only as a doctor but also as a community leader. Many of the synagogue’s former visitors and supporters perished in concentration camps, including Mór Weisz, Sándor Stern, and other local residents. After the war, the abandoned synagogue remained empty and slowly fell into ruin. By the late 1960s, it was in a dilapidated state and was eventually demolished in 1977. For decades, nothing stood on the site, as if a piece of history had vanished without a trace. Preserving the Memory Fortunately, the city of Hévíz did not forget its past. In 2000, a memorial was erected on the site of the former synagogue. Its design recalls the original building and commemorates the victims of the Holocaust. The plans were developed with the help of city officials and local historians, and Chief Rabbi Tamás Raj delivered the speech at the unveiling ceremony. This quiet yet powerful memorial site continues to invite visitors to pay tribute to those who were once an integral part of Hévíz’s community. Brought Back to Life – Virtually Though the synagogue no longer stands, today it is possible to explore it through a virtual tour. Thanks to a digital reconstruction, anyone can step inside and imagine what the interior might have looked like in its full glory. (You can view the rotatable 3D model at this link) If you’re curious to see how the Hévíz synagogue looked in its heyday, click here and explore it through a virtual walk!

34. From Textile Sea to Tiny Bikini! The Evolution of Swimwear at the Turn of the 20th Century

Last modification: 2025. May. 12. 11:10

When seaside vacations became fashionable in the second half of the 19th century, not only the etiquette but also the attire of bathing was strictly regulated. Wearing a swimsuit meant covering up, not showing off. Yet over the following decades, the baggy skirts disappeared, and swimsuits slowly started to resemble what we know today.

Wearing a swimsuit meant covering up, not showing off. Yet over the following decades, the baggy skirts disappeared, and swimsuits slowly started to resemble what we know today.
tartalom: + 1 Since when do we go to the beach to "swim and sunbathe"? Bathing became a trend in Europe—especially in England and France—from the mid-19th century. Brighton, Biarritz, Scheveningen: these places saw the birth of the first “bathing fashions.” Although trends didn’t spread nearly as fast as they do today via Insta posts and social media, Hungary wasn’t far behind the Western bathing culture. The first bathing house on Lake Balaton opened in 1864 in Keszthely (for men), followed by similar structures in Balatonfüred and Siófok. These were more like changing cabins built onto piers, with separate facilities for men and women. Entering the water was guided more by etiquette and medical advice than by fun. We can proudly say that therapeutic spas like Hévíz introduced bath cabins much earlier, especially upon medical recommendation. In Hévíz, the first bathhouse on stilts was already built in 1795—meaning that bathers came to Lake Hévíz even before Lake Balaton became popular.   Long Skirts and Puffy Trousers But back to our main topic—what did our predecessors actually consider "swimwear"? Primarily, it was an outfit designed for walking along the beach. Going into the water or sunbathing was out of the question. The seashore was mainly recommended for the benefit of salty sea air. The beach attire covered nearly every part of the body, and parasols were a must-have for ladies, as tanned skin was not appropriate in aristocratic and bourgeois circles. Simply put, it was considered too “common.” Some, of course, couldn’t resist the temptation of the water. For them, swimming wasn’t even an option—they were lucky if they didn’t get too wet in their "bathing" outfits, which looked something like this: Long skirt – down to the ankles, to hide the legs Baggy trousers underneath – for modesty Waist belt or drawstring – to keep the dress in place in the water Long-sleeved blouse – often with a collar Hat or head covering – to protect from the sun Materials: flannel, linen, or thick wool. These fabrics held their shape well when dry—but became extremely heavy when wet! Light colors were typically chosen, since the many layers already made the outfits warm enough—dark colors would’ve made things even worse.   Subtle Modernization, or the Era When Calves No Longer Had to Be Hidden By the end of the 19th century, expectations began to change. As more people ventured into the water, skirts became shorter—now only just below the knees—so the trousers underneath also became shorter and less baggy. Eventually, separate skirts and blouses were replaced by a single-piece tunic-style garment for simplicity and safety. The new swimwear often featured large collars and sailor-style motifs. Colors were mostly navy blue or black, often with stripes. The darker colors helped ensure the thinner garments remained opaque when wet. In the 1910s–1920s, swimsuits began shrinking rapidly Starting in the 1910s, swimming gained popularity—especially among women. Swimwear fashion followed this shift toward practicality, led by figures like Australian swimming champion and actress Annette Kellerman. In 1907, she was even arrested in the U.S. for wearing a one-piece, body-hugging swimsuit. That event only added fuel to the fire, accelerating the modern transformation of swimwear, which coincided with the rise of women’s emancipation. Sleeveless tops appeared almost out of nowhere (even in casual wear), and swimsuits were sometimes one-piece, sometimes two-piece. Trousers were shortened to mid-thigh, and eventually to much shorter lengths. The resulting scandal led to enforced swimsuit regulations, including mandatory length measurements—sometimes checked with tape measures! Wool still dominated in materials, but now with thinner weaves. Large hats were replaced by headscarves or swim caps, not for sun protection but to keep hair in place. Still, the suits remained heavy (and dark), especially when wet.   Elastic Fabric Revolutionizes Swimwear in the 1920s–30s This change wasn’t driven primarily by new attitudes, but by a new invention: Lastex, a rubber-threaded textile. Thanks to this material, swimsuits in the 1920s became form-fitting. Skirts disappeared completely, and necklines and backlines grew bolder. The elastic fabric allowed for snug-fitting, stretchy, and—most importantly—fast-drying swimsuits. Less fabric was needed, and color variety exploded on the beaches. Swimwear became not only practical but sexy, too. Film stars of the 1930s—like Jean Harlow or Greta Garbo—graced magazine covers in their swimsuits. Swimwear Fashion at Lake Balaton and in Hévíz Hungarian beach towns like those along Lake Balaton and Hévíz also adopted international swimwear trends. By the late 1920s, women were wearing shorter, one-piece swimsuits, and men wore tank-top-style suits. At Lake Hévíz, the clothing remained more conservative due to its medicinal purpose, but sportier swimsuits also became increasingly popular. What Came Next? After World War II, everything changed. In the mid-1940s, French engineer Louis Réard introduced the first bikini—ushering in an entirely new era of swimwear fashion. But that’s another story... Image sources: Fortepan and heviz.hu

It’s not just a physical refreshment, but a mental one too – a true stress-reliever.   Breathing Nature, Fresh Leaves, and Green Harmony Picture yourself walking through a dense, green forest, where every tree and leaf radiates life and freshness. The clean air offered by the forest acts as natural oxygen therapy – freeing your mind, helping you reflect, and pulling you out of daily stress. The silence of the woods, the trickle of streams, and the song of birds create a stress-relieving effect that reconnects you with inner calm. This spring, “Open up to nature!” in Hévíz – walk, jog, hike, or cycle to energize every cell in your body with fresh air! Let the Sunshine In! Natural sunlight is essential for vitamin D production, which is key to bone strength and a healthy immune system. In spring, days get longer, the sun shines warmer, and we can spend more time outdoors – enjoying early sunbaths, weekend yoga, or just being outside. You can amplify the experience with a bit of sound therapy: notice the relaxing sounds of nature – the rustling of trees, birds singing, and water flowing. Quiet your mind and hear the harmony of the earth.   The Healing Mud Imagine lying in a warm room as your body is massaged with thick, black therapeutic mud heated to 44°C. Thanks to the warm, mineral-rich substance and skilled massage, your whole body relaxes, your skin warms, and the beneficial elements absorb through your pores. Your muscles unwind, joints quietly regenerate, your skin becomes silky, and your nerves find calm. Don’t do it because you need to – do it because it’s simply fantastic! Vitamin Bomb Spring is the season of rebirth, and there’s no better way to boost a tired immune system than with a diet full of fresh vegetables. Ancient medicinal herbs that have been part of healing traditions for centuries are now central to modern wellness. A short detox or juice cleanse with fresh seasonal produce doesn’t just cleanse the body – it’s a true vitamin bomb that restores your vitality. Hévíz is the perfect place to rediscover the power of nature after a long, exhausting winter. The healing water, green forests, fresh air, sunlight, and natural sounds combine to create a revitalizing effect that recharges and restores. If you feel it’s time to escape the digital city noise and reconnect with nature’s ancient energy, don’t hesitate: start your spring renewal in Hévíz and experience the power of true green energy!

lead: The real summer arrived on June 1. There were places where the thermometers already showed 30°C on the first day of summer and many people were already bathing in Lake Balaton, despite the fact that spring was not very kind to us, so the heat arrived quite late. So it's time to give you an overview of where and how much you can swim in the Hévíz area this summer after the adventure parks.
tartalom: + 1 The great advantage of this article is that it shows on a map which beach is where, and what is worth knowing about it, and you can even find pictures! If you are also interested in the prices, scroll down a little towards the end of the article! A black poi indicates the Hévíz Tófürdő and beach Red dots show the classic beaches on the Balaton shore In the place of burgundy pois, there are adventure parks and adventure baths The blue pois are lakes where you can't swim, but you can fish instead :) Let's see which are the classic beaches next to Lake Balaton. There are roughly 7+2 beaches near Hévíz that are very popular among guests. Keszthely City Beach | Keszthely Libás Beach | Alsógyenes Lidó Beach | Gyenesdiás Play Beach | Vonyarcvashegyi Lido Beach | Balatongyörök Beach | Balatonberény Beach + Dog Beach in Keszthely and Naturist Beach in Balatonberény   It is typical of the above beaches that you can go for a walk or even take a bath outside of the high season. You can use the playgrounds and sports fields, but the buffets and restrooms are only open during the beach season. In the late spring period, you should expect that renovations, weeding, flower planting, and toys are being renovated, but by the beginning of June, almost all beaches can be visited. There are entrance tickets, where they start collecting from June 1, and where they start collecting from the beginning of the school holidays. The opening hours - as long as you have to buy a full price ticket - are usually between 8:00 and 18:00, but in many places you can buy an evening swimming ticket before closing, which is cheaper and usually after 6 or 7, entry is free. Most beaches have student and pensioner discounts, family tickets or weekly passes can also be purchased. In terms of accessibility, a common feature of the beaches in the area is that they are easy to find. By bicycle, the cash desks are almost within reach of the Balaton bicycle path, and by car, of course, you can park for free next to every beach. Moreover, with the exception of the dog beach and the Libás beach, all other beaches are close to the local train station, so if you can, you can even go by train.   Lake Hévíz, as a uniqueness, is a spa, lake spa and beach spa all in one Unique in the world, Lake Hévíz combines thermal spas and beach spas in such a way that none of them really exist. Due to its uniqueness, you can bathe in the natural thermal spring all year round, and thanks to the covered parts, you can enjoy the experience of warm water even in pouring rain or snow. Depending on the weather, in the spring, usually in May, the beach area opens even earlier, where you can enjoy the pleasures of water around 30°C or even warmer before the Balaton beach season. The children's pools are only filled in mid-June, as they have heated normal water. From the point of view that you can swim in a real, natural, warm water lake and relax and sunbathe on its shore, it is more like a beach, but based on the services, opening hours and prices based on medicinal water, it can be classified more like a thermal spa. You definitely have to try it once, because it is really unique and special, completely different from all the usual beaches and adventure pools! Adventure baths and slide park Near Hévíz, we have to write about 3 major thermal and adventure baths and a slide park. Closer to Hévíz is the Kehida Thermal Bath in Kehidakustány, many people also visit the Karos Spa complex in Zalakaros, and Zalaszentgrót also has a thermal and adventure bath. Perhaps a little further, in Zalaegerszeg there is an Aquacity and slide park. The common feature of the first three thermal spas is that their indoor pools are open all year round, but in the summer season they also open their outdoor beach with adventure park, slides and a large green surface to the public. These baths, although they cannot be called classic beaches, can be visited regardless of the weather, since even if we cannot use the outdoor experiences, the indoor pools are still open. Another important feature they have in common is that they have pools with medicinal water and heated normal water pools. Aquacity, located next to the last-mentioned Zalaegerszeg, only operates in the summer, during the school holidays. It does not have an indoor bath, only outdoor pools and numerous slides, among which all ages can find their favorite. At the same time, just like the Balaton beaches, this adventure bath is only visited in nice, summer weather. Let's look at the prices for 2023! Adult day ticket prices for classic beaches in 2023! We warn you in advance that the ticket price does not reflect the quality of the services! On the slightly more expensive beaches, the extra program options and extra experience elements provide the basis for a higher price category, while the slightly cheaper beaches are typically smaller, more family-friendly, and offer fewer of the same high-quality services. In addition, all the classic beaches listed here (except for dogs and naturists) have Blue Wave certification and are multiple category winners (child-friendly beach, sporty beach, green beach). The different types of ticket prices mean that entrance tickets to most beaches in the pre-summer season, in June, are cheaper than in July and August. tartalom: + 1 The great advantage of this article is that it shows on a map which beach is where, and what is worth knowing about it, and you can even find pictures! The ticket prices of the spas and beaches do not reflect the quality of the services! On the slightly more expensive beaches, the extra program options and extra experience elements provide the basis for a higher price category, while the slightly cheaper beaches are typically smaller, more family-friendly, and offer fewer but equally high-quality services.

38. A Health Coach Against Burnout

Last modification: 2025. June. 13. 15:52

Do you wake up before your alarm because your mind is already racing through the day’s tasks? By 2 p.m., do you feel like you’ve already worked two full shifts? In the evening, slumped on the couch, do you find yourself wondering: Is this really what life is supposed to be?

lead: Do you wake up before your alarm because your mind is already racing through the day’s tasks? By 2 p.m., do you feel like you’ve already worked two full shifts? In the evening, slumped on the couch, do you find yourself wondering: Is this really what life is supposed to be?
tartalom: + 1 Stress is part of life. There’s the good kind—the one that motivates, energizes, and moves us forward. But then there’s the kind that creeps into every corner of our lives, even our downtime. When you're on holiday but can’t stop worrying whether your holiday is perfect enough. When stress, exhaustion, lack of motivation or scatterbrained feelings take over—maybe it's time to admit something needs to change. Because believe it or not, this isn’t “just how adulthood works.” Could this be burnout? Burnout is increasingly becoming a widespread issue—especially among people in their 40s. Careers, families, responsibilities… everything keeps piling up, and somehow there’s less and less energy left for you. When nothing seems to recharge you anymore, when you feel like you’re failing in all your roles and just trying to get through the day, it might be time to ask for help. That’s where a health coach comes in. So what is a health coach? Think of a health coach like a personal trainer—but not just for your body, for your whole life. They’re not doctors, and they’re not therapists. They’re professionals who help you reconnect with your balance. They support you in building new habits, managing stress better, and regaining the energy you lost somewhere between unread emails, deadlines, and family duties. What do they actually do? Health coaches are supportive partners who help clarify your life goals, offer fresh perspectives, and co-create personalized strategies for change. They help you recognize the signs of burnout. Burnout doesn’t hit all at once. It sneaks in gradually. A coach can help you identify the warning signs—feelings you may have normalized for too long. For example: Constant fatigue, even when you technically get enough sleep. Lack of motivation, even for things you used to love. Irritability, trouble concentrating, or the feeling that you’re just spinning your wheels. They help you build a sustainable daily routine. Maybe right now it feels like there’s just no time for anything. But that can change. A coach will help you establish small daily habits that gradually bring more balance into your life—whether it’s a 10-minute morning breathing exercise, a short walk, or a strict “no emails after 8 p.m.” policy. They offer guidance on nutrition and lifestyle—not diets. A coach helps you find what kinds of foods and habits actually give you more energy. Maybe that afternoon coffee isn’t the boost you need anymore—maybe there’s a better solution to avoid that evening crash. They teach you to say no. One of the biggest contributors to burnout is being overwhelmed. The “I have to do everything myself or it won’t get done right” mindset will eat away at you over time. A coach helps you identify what really needs your attention—and what you can delegate or simply let go of. When should you consider working with a coach? If your life feels like one never-ending to-do list, and even Monday mornings are exhausting, it might be time to take a step back. A health coach isn’t a miracle worker—but they can help you take back control. Because maybe you’ve come to accept constant tiredness, stress, and the “I’ll rest someday” mindset as normal. But it’s not. The good news? You can change. The only question is: When will you decide to take your life back into your own hands?

40. Drinking it, enjoying it, using it

tartalom: + 1 Drink it! The recommended daily water intake is 2 litres for adults. This is the amount that everyone needs for ideal body function. What’s more, in Hévíz, you can also drinksulphurous medicinal water, which is recommended for many people. Drinking Hévíz medicinal water in moderation can relieve stomach aches and bile problems. You cantaste it at the public water fountains. Get in the steam! The sauna is good, many people like it. Hot steam and humid air are an important part of the bathing culture of many civilisations, be it a Roman tepidarium, a Turkish bath, a Japanese onsen or a Finnish sauna. The hot, humid air dilates pores, increases cellular metabolism, refreshes the skin, relaxes the mind and clears the respiratory system. Ice-cold delights! Water vapour is also useful and can be used if it is ice cold. On the one hand, we often cool ourselves with ice cubes, cold water spray or an ice bath after a sauna session, and on the other hand, the cryosauna, which cools the body with temperatures of around minus 140 degrees Celsius, is becoming more and more popular. This freezing treatment takes only two minutes but it is extremely effective. It regenerates cells, alleviates reduced vascular problems, speeds up metabolism and even helps you lose weight. It is no coincidence that competitive athletes used it first for rapid recovery. Inhale water vapour! Having mentioned breathing in hot steam, we should also highlight the other beneficial effects of inhaled vapour. Inhaling water vapour can provide the body with manyvaluable substances, which can be rapidly absorbed. You can think of oxygen therapy, for example, or the mist floating above the lake, which contains gaseous substances that, when inhaled, enhance the healing effect. Hydromassage for everyone! Probably no one has ever been to a spa without standing/ sitting under a water massage jet. The massaging effect of water has been used for a long time, so it's almostubiquitous in spas, wellness and adventure baths. However, water jet massage is not just a simple muscle-relaxing spa experience; it is also a significant treatment. It is also used in Hévíz carried out in a 34-37 degree Celsius water bath under the name of Tangentor therapy. Depending on the strength of the water jet, it can even move deeper muscle layers, and it causes an increase in blood flow to the treated area and has a good effect on lymphatic circulation. It is one of the most popular procedures for post-operative care.   Electricity conducted into water? Why not? It may sound strange, as most people learn at an early age that it is not advisable to dry our hair in the bathtub. However, there are occasions when conducting electricity into the water - much less than 220 V, of course - can be useful. One of these occasions is called the galvanic bath, which is mostly used to relieve arthritis and pain. This treatment should only be used under medical supervision and on a therapeutic basis. Typically, the hands and feet are placed in hot water while a low current is passed through the body thanks to the conductivity of the water.   Splash! Of course, the best way to enjoy the water is to take a bath in it. From refreshing showers and adventure pools to the thermal water of Lake Hévíz, there's hardly a place where you can't spend precious minutes and hours in hot water. It is relaxing, stress relieving and beneficial for the whole body. Doing sports in water is the most joint-friendly form of exercise, so you can now join aqua fitness and aqua spinning classes in many places. Swimming exercises the whole body, but just floating in the silky hot water of Lake Hévíz can also do a lot to keep you fit.
