tartalom: + 1 What will happen in these four days? Let's see! During the four days of the festival, you can meet blue-painted porters, handmade dolls, basket sellers, textile sellers, jewelry makers, ceramicists, but you may also buy goat cheese, smoked goods, homemade syrup, and handmade mustard. In addition to the vendors, there will be wine and food stalls waiting for the guests. This year we are preparing 30 types of "lángos", vegetable pies, vegan offerings, but of course also traditional wine-biscuits. In fact, fish soup is also included in the food offer, but only for 20 August. Among the domestic wineries, the following cellars will be presenting: Paulus Borház, Cseri Winery, Balla Géza Winery, Kányavári Winery, Mokos Winery, Prosecco, -Balatonfelvidék -Fischer Winery, Tokaj wine region- Majoros Estate, Decsics Winery, Strázsai Winery, Rádi Winery, Papp és Fiai Winery , Bezerics Winery And of course, the title holder of this year's Wine of Hévíz is the CÉZÁR Winery, where you can also taste the wine of 2022. On Thursday the Virgonckodók team will start the program to the delight of our youngest guests. On that day, wooden toys and a basket swing are waiting for children. And of course we won't leave them without music, in the afternoon they can party at the Brumi Bandi Band concert at the Tourinform Office. The day doesn't end with children's programs. The Forest next to Deák Square will be the venue for the Amargant Theater Concert three times in the afternoon. The special program as part of the Forest Mystery program series introduces visitors to the mysterious world of the forest surrounding the lake. The music bonanza starts on the stage from 18:00, where you can first hear the party mix of DJ Belo, then the acoustic-electronic performance of Levente Fegyverneki leads the mood to DJ Voksán Virág's evening set. During the day on Friday the field belongs to the children again, this time the team of Virgonckodók brings two escape rooms to the "green" on Dr. Moll Károly tér. It is worth registering in advance, because the appointments fill up quickly. Children looking for a creative activity will not be left without a program either, as the Magic Sounds playhouse at the Tourinform office will keep them busy. The game is accompanied by music, from 18:00 the Cséplő-Poór Jazzy Duo entertains the audience with cheerful tunes. At the same time, the evening program begins on the stage, a Caribbean dance hall called Salsa Días Brillantes begins. After the dance, we can listen to a show by Boglárka Laczák and Szabolcs Bognár interspersed with musical and operetta melodies. In the evening, we can welcome the weekend with a wild concert by Odett, a singer from Zala. On Saturday a bubble arcade and a wooden toy park await children who want to play already in the early afternoon. This time, there is also a stage show for the little ones, as the Harisnáy Pipik invite them on a magical journey around the world. Afterwards, Jenő Őri & Iván Roman entertain the audience with violin and piano recitals. If it's a wine program, then MASZK's musical theater about wine fits into the evening stylistically. The main event of the evening will be the concert of the Muzsikás Együttes. On Sunday we can rest during the day for the past three days, and then in the evening we can say goodbye to the holiday weekend at the M.É.Z. With its Irish dance ensemble show and the Jag Projekt party. Good atmosphere and good music are guaranteed, you won't get bored with us! Come and celebrate with us! Detailed programs here.

tartalom: + 1 Hévíz has been waiting for the worthy conclusion of the investment for a long time The matter of the old bus stop and the investment in the area of Kölcsey Street has been dragging on in the spa town for many years. As Bálint Nagy, Member of Parliament and Secretary of State for Transport, said at the closing ceremony of the project: the process started in 2019, with the announcement of the then winning GINOP tender, and it just came to an end this weekend. The government then approved the Hévíz development project with a grant of 1.2 billion forints, with the aim of creating a central square worthy of the city's reputation and tourist role near the Lake Spa. However, the implementation did not go according to plan. The work process was slowed down and made more difficult by several factors. In recent years, it has been necessary to modify both the professional content and the budget of the original plans on several occasions. Over the years, the demands of residents, guests and entrepreneurs for a dignified conclusion to the protracted works have increased. Member of Parliament Bálint Nagy highlighted: The Hévíz main square project is an excellent example of how, if there is truly a common will and true cooperation, even the most impossible situations can be solved. This positive example of cooperation also gives hope that the Lake Spa developments that will soon be launched will also be successful.   In his speech, Péter Naszádos, Mayor of Hévíz, emphasized the power of cooperation and joint work. The municipality considers the implementation of this very important investment for the city as a victory, as well as the fact that the city has closed six tenders from state, EU and its own sources in the past 9 months. The aim of the development was to create a livable, modern, community and tourist-valuable environment in Hévíz. Fountain, spacious square, elegant paving and vegetation The municipality terminated the contract with the previous contractor of the now handed over square in 2023. The new public procurement - which took place in three months - was won by the local Possibuild Kft. The investment, which was launched from EU funds, ultimately had to be supplemented with government support. As part of the works, the old bus station building was demolished, and an event space was created in its place with a fountain, sculptures, green islands, street furniture and bicycle racks. The square was equipped with a music pavilion and technical structures that will enable the holding of larger events and festivals. The work of the Munkácsy Award-winning sculptor Ferenc Farkas, a pair of full-length bronze statues depicting Count György I. Festetics and Count György II. Festetics, has been placed in front of the summer entrance to the Hévíz Lake Baths.   In order to shade the event space, solar sails will be installed in the near future. The new event space in Hévíz will have a festival atmosphere on the first weekend! To the delight of the residents and guests, the city of Hévíz is organizing a large-scale “space-occupying” festival titled “The Space Belongs to Us!”. On the morning of July 18, professional performances will be held in the Town Hall’s Ceremonial Hall, and various outdoor exhibitions will be on display on the square. In the evening, a BIKINI concert, laser and light show, and DJ Belo await guests looking to have fun and/or get nostalgic in the area of the former bus stop and Rizling Platz. The concerts will continue on Saturday and Sunday. There will be music, rock ballet, soloists and even a folklore show. The event will be accompanied by a food and craft fair on all three days. tartalom: + 1 The Kányavár Island The arched wooden bridge built of wooden beams in the eighties has now become a symbol of Kis-Balaton. We can enjoy a wonderful view of the groves from the bridge. We can admire special waterfowl such as the great egret, the gray heron, or the cormorant, which is less popular with anglers. On the 1.5-kilometer-long "Búbosvöcsök" educational trail, 15 boards show the fish, birds and mammals living in the Kis-Balaton region. You can also go fishing on the island and look at the water and the hills of Zala from two lookout towers.   If you would rather go inside... The Kis-Balaton Visitor Center is the latest exhibition in the Balaton Uplands National Park. An excellent choice for the whole family all year round, with the interactive exhibition even the little ones won't get bored! On the green roof structure of the building, which resembles game passages, you can walk on an interactive educational trail. From here you can clearly see the winter bird feeders and hear birds chirping. There is a gift shop and restaurant in the building as well, and children can enjoy the fresh air in the playground in the courtyard, while parents can refresh themselves with coffee. The cinema is part of the exhibition, where we can get to know the winter-summer, autumn-spring wildlife of Kis-Balaton through touching quotes from the novels of István Fekete Tüskevár and Téli berek during a half-hour film, all in the interpretive interpretation of Gábor Reviczky.     In the interactive part of the exhibition, we can find out what invasive species are and why do they mean danger to the flora and fauna of the region. It turns out what the role of Kis-Balaton is in the protection of the water quality of Lake Balaton, and we can even examine water samples ourselves. If you want to see even more of this magical world, you can take part in a canoe tour organized by the Balaton Uplands National Park from early spring to late autumn. It is only possible to paddle on the Hévíz stream until the mid-March, but on the Gyöngyös stream, which carries the water of the Hévíz stream towards Lake Balaton, the regular tours are available during the year as well. The end point of the rowing tour is Diás Island, where the hut of Matula evokes the atmosphere of the groves. At the István Fekete Memorial next to the small wooden hut, you could also delve into the hidden wonders of Kis-Balaton during a very interesting exhibition.   Secret sights off the beaten path Most places in Kis-Balaton like the Diás Island can only be visited with a guide, but there are quite a few romantic and protected areas that can be explored freely without a guide. Next to the river Zala, you can find the 'Madárvárta' at the dam of Lake Hídvégi, which was built by students from Zurich. The building was made of thousands of acacia logs without any nails or screws. Next to the parking lot, about 100 meters away, you can find the 'fish ladder', where you can marvel at the cavalcade of fish in the spring. The fish ladder between the river Zala and Lake Hidvégi slows down the flow of water, so fish can easily swim in the opposite direction.     Buffaloes and other animal species In the buffalo reserve in Kápolnapuszta, you can not only see buffalos but you can also spot susliks lurking in the grass! Even in the early 20th century, the ground squirrel was considered harmful and therefore water was into their passages, so they would be forced to move away. Other spectacular animals are the goats and donkeys in the petting zoo. In the colonies carved into the loess wall, the bee-eaters stand out with their brightly colored feathers.     But what about buffaloes? The Balaton Uplands National Park started breeding water buffaloes in 1992 in an area purchased for gene conservation. The reserve is home to the largest herd of buffalo in the country, living in great peace with the gray cattles. During the winter, the animals spend most of their time in the barn near the entrance, where we can see the traditional stock-farming in a cozy old photo next to the buffaloes. In better weather, the animals are on pasture, which is most easily reached by horse-drawn carriage ordered in the centre building. The so called black giants are also “buffalo-strong” and don’t necessarily always approach people with friendly intentions. Driving through in the pastures with a horse-drawn carriage is like being on safari. A novelty in the area of the reserve is the lookout tower, which was handed over on January 28, 2022, where we can now observe the animals from up above.   The Kis-Balaton House: a cultural travel Next to the foundation walls of the former church of St. Adorjan and the Cyril and Methodius Memorial Column, you could enjoy the photos of the wonders of Zala County in a Millennium Monument designed by Imre Makovecz. In the letters hanging from the top of the special-shaped dome, you can read the names of the settlements of the county. At the exhibition of the Kis-Balaton House you can find out about the wildlife, and the children can have fun on the playground. Next to the Kis-Balaton House, you can reach the island of Kanyavár on an asphalted bike path on the bank of the river Zala. You can also rent a bike at the Kis-Balaton House. (Opening: March 12. Address: Zalavár, Vársziget utca 2.)   For more information on sights and programs: Tourinform Hévíz8380 Hévíz, Rákóczi str. 2.heviz@tourinform.hu+36 83 540 131

2.heviz@tourinform.hu+36 83 540 131

lead: For the 13th time this year, on May 4, MI6 awarded certificates to the service providers and institutions that achieved the best results in terms of energy savings in the past year.
tartalom: + 1 Hungarian Innovation and Efficiency (MI6) Nonprofit Kft was established in 2011. The goal of the organization, which is also supported by the UN, is to promote all the energy efficiency processes through which Hungarian service providers can save energy and thereby save additional resources. The essence of the Virtual Power Plant Program (VEP) they operate is that: Unused energy is the greenest energy! The less energy we use, the more we can reduce CO2 emissions, thereby making the operation of our facilities more sustainable, energetically efficient and cheaper. The economic value of unused energy is the same as that of produced energy. With unused energy, we not only manage resources more efficiently, but also save money. The aim of the organization is to have service providers connected to the program either from the entrepreneurial, residential, civil or public sector; over time, do NOT use as much energy on an annual basis, so save as much as PAKS can produce. All of these results can be achieved with investments aimed at energy efficiency, technical developments, conscious decisions, the use of smart systems, lifestyle changes, recycling... For the 13th time this year, on May 4, MI6 awarded certificates to the service providers and institutions that achieved the best results in terms of energy savings in the past year.   How did the Hévízgyógyfürdő Szent András Rheumatic Hospital earn the certificate? The certificate is awarded for 1 year, and environmental engineer György Németh, the technical manager of the Szent András Rheumatic Hospital, told us about how to earn it. MI6 announced the program for the 13th year, but the Hévíz hospital applied for certification for the first time this year. Service providers can apply in different institutional categories, we have measured ourselves among hospitals. In order to be certified as an energy-conscious hospital, it was necessary to present the already implemented and planned measures aimed at energy efficiency, as well as to show how much we were able to reduce the institution's CO2 emissions in 2022 as a result of the technical changes, investments, and developments that have already been implemented, as well as how much we could count on financial savings. We can be proud that we met expectations in every respect. In recent years, several technical solutions have been completed in the hospital, with which we can achieve more energy-efficient operation of the facility. These include, for example, heat pump development, the solar park, rethinking the operation of facilities with building energy control smart systems. Of course, further developments are also planned. These will allow us to manage energy in different ways in different parts of the institution. It is also important for us to strive for a change of attitude among hospital workers, to make them interested in sustainable energy management in the long term.   How new is energy-conscious thinking in Hévíz? In Hévíz, the issue of sustainability and environmental awareness has long been an important and prominent aspect. Of course, this is also due to the fact that Lake Hévíz and its surroundings are a nature conservation area, so many regulations must be complied with. From the point of view of tourism, protecting this natural treasure is of particular importance in the settlement. Among the institutions in Hévíz, at the Szent András Rheumatic Hospital in Hévíz, we have been dealing with sustainability issues, energy efficiency, and cost-effective facility operation for a long time. This is also proven by the fact that this is not the first recognition of our work in the last 10 years. The institution has previously received the Greenovation award and the Ozone Green award. Of course, processes and developments in this direction have intensified since the first Covid year in 2019. The economic and social changes of recent years have initiated several processes in more and more institutions and state support systems, all of which favor decisions aimed at more cost-effective operation. Why is this award important? The Certificate of the MI6 Energy-conscious Hospital confirms that we are on the right track, that what we do is important. These recognitions are also very important to us because we consider this work to be a form of social responsibility. It is important that others know about it, the people who live here, our colleagues, the guests who come here. Let them see that sustainability is a priority in Hévíz and in our hospital, Tófürdő too! It must be seen that even a small intervention, operational decision or investment can achieve huge results in such a large institution. In fact! I'm going further! In an institution of this size, it is possible to save at least as much energy as with a new technical solution in the form of an investment, just by conscious employee behavior and conscious energy use. I believe that small steps can go a long way. Personally, my task is to operate a long-term sustainable Hévízfürdő together with my colleagues and everyone who works here. On May 4, the Energy-Aware Hospital Certification was presented to the hospitals by Katalin Szili, the hereditary patron of the VEP, and Zoltán Jenei (OKFŐ).

tartalom: + 1 The Cross and the Star There is a small eye-catching building in Helikon Street in Hévíz. At its peaks, the symbols -a cross and a star - indicate that we are in a sacred place. There is also a column next to it erected to commemorate the 500th anniversary of the Reformation with the inscription in Hungarian 'Az ige kőszálként megáll', which is a quote from Psalm 46 meaning 'That word above all earthly powers'.     Although only a few Protestant residents were registered in Hévíz, a collection was in procession for the construction of a Protestant church by the guests staying here in the 1930s. Bálint Szeghalmy also made a plan in 1941. The money donation was collected for its implementation, but the raging war stopped his dream to become real. Finally in 1993, Hévíz donated a plot of land to build a joint Lutheran-Reformed church. The Lutheran and Reformed congregations decided to implement the old plan of Bálint Szeghalmy in a slightly modernized version, prepared by architect Mihály Zoób.     The cross placed on the gable of the church was carved out of white marble at the contractor's own expense. The bell is a donation from the family of Károly Borsos. The foundation stone was placed down on June 16, 1997, and the first service was held on December 6, 1998. In 2003, the church was enriched with the winged altarpiece of the Kossuth and Munkácsy Prize-winning tapestry artist Rózsa Polgár, and in 2004 with the organ designed and built by the organ builder Albert Miklós from Győr.   The Heart of Jesus Church, also known as Fradi Church In 1905, in the neighbourhood of the Roman ruins in the Egregy district of Hévíz, a two-storey bell tower was erected in place of the wooden belfry that had stood there for more than 100 years. In 1937, from local donations, the bell tower was expanded with another level and a tin roof. It was built in a Neo-Romanesque style with twin windows. Two bells were placed in the tower, a smaller one in honor of Mary Magdalene, which was cast in 1905, and a larger one in memory of the 16 heroic soldiers of Egregy who fell in World War I. The latter was made in 1937. In memory of the heroes, 16 linden trees were planted next to the tower, with a head tree at their base.     The bell tower was then renovated in 1990 with the voluntary donation of the people of Egregy, and on April 22, 1995 it was consecrated as the Church of the Heart of Jesus. And why is it called Fradi Church by the locals? Because the church, which was built largely from donations, received unexpected help, as the Ferencváros Gymnastics Club (a famous Hungarian football team from Budapest, nicknamed as Fradi) was also among the donors as well. Not only did the supporters make a financial contribution, but the team and club leadership were present at the consecration of the church. They even donated Fradi Relics to the church (most recently in 2017), which visitors of the church could see in a display case. In light of this, it is not surprising that the church, originally designed in blue and white, was eventually painted green and white which are the official colours of the football team.     Next to the church, a military memorial park was established in 2000 to commemorate the soldiers, civilians and Jewish victims of Egregy and Hévízszentandrás who fell in the First and Second World Wars. In doing so, 70 named headstones were erected. However, only 6 remained of the former 16 linden trees planted.     The Catholic Church on the shores of Lake Hévíz The western shore of Lake Hévíz (today's Schulhof Promenade and the area of the hospital buildings) used to belong partly to the village of Szentandrás and partly to the bishopric of Veszprém. These areas became the property of the Festetics family in 1857 and 1868 through land swaps. Soon after the expansion of the bath land near the lake and landscaping could begin. The row of the completed (except for one building) 7 bath buildings was completed by a chapel. Its construction began in the 1870s and was consecrated in 1877.     We only have a few old engravings and postcards from the chapel, and we also found only a few photos of the inside. The chapel was finally demolished in 1964, when the most modern balneotherapy center in the country was built in its place in the most modern architectural style of the time. It is essentially the hospital’s indoor thermal bath, the Winter Bath, today’s Indoor Bath and Therapy Center, which was handed over in 1968.     The altar of the old Church is going to be exhibited soon on the renovated Shulhof Promenade.   The Holy Spirit Church The most modern and well-known church can be seen from the beginning of the main street leading to the city, as its blue peaks rise high. The church opposite the town hall, which can accommodate up to 1,000 people, was built according to the plans of János Bocskai and was consecrated on September 9, 1999 by retired Archbishop József Szendi.     Breaking into the seven (5 middle and 2 side) towers, the tower guides its visitors to the city from afar. The seven towers symbolize the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit, while the pigeon motif symbolizing the Holy Spirit appears in several places on the building (even the shape of the church looks like a dove opening its wings if we look at the church from the air). On the one hand, in the floor plan of the church, in the design of the floor in front of the entrance, in the motifs of the interior wood and in the painting of the glass window above the main altar.     The interior of the church combines modern architecture and tradition, which is mainly emphasized by the beautiful wood paneling. Due to its good acoustics, it often hosts organ and acoustic concerts. The colorful windows, reminiscent of Gothic style, praise the work of Simon Endre, an artist from Hévíz. The torso on the wall of the sanctuary is a 200-year-old art treasure that was donated to the church. The bronze statue of Christ on the left side of the altar and the statue of Our Lady of Hungary wearing the crown on the right side are also the work of László Marton. The walls are decorated with fire enamel pictures. No bells were placed in the tallest tower for static reasons, but 2-2 bells were placed in the towers to the left and right. Two bells were brought here from 2 old churches in Hévíz, while the other two were donated by families in Hévíz. By the way, the church is mostly mentioned only by the locals and guests as "Blue Church".   The Synagogue, only a memory If we walk towards the Protective Forest of the Lake, next to the entrance to the Deák Square of the Lake Bath, a monument appears at the foot of the trees in the park. The synagogue of Hévíz used to stand here. The lines of the monument evoke the facade of the building of the former house of prayer, with names on it that were once taken from here to death. Among others, dr. Chief physician Vilmos Schulhof.     There were not many Jews living in Hévíz, it is estimated that there could be no more than 2-3% of the population, yet this community was strong enough to build a synagogue in 1933. It is a strange game of fate that the building survived both the Holocaust and the war fortunately, but by 1959 the religious life in Hévíz had ceased. As a result, the house of prayer was not used, its condition greatly deteriorated, so it was demolished in 1977. The monument, erected in 2000, in its simplicity commemorates the former synagogue on the one hand and the former local Jewry on the other, and the pebbles placed on it indicate that faith has survived.   Árpádian church in Egregy, the Church of St. Magdalene The exact time of construction of the church is unknown, it was probably built around mid-13th century. It is first mentioned in written records in 1341. The building was badly damaged in the 16-17th century, and was later renovated in the Baroque era in 1731. Fortunately, only the most necessary parts were repaired, so the medieval form of the church has been preserved. During this renovation, the interior and exterior decorative paintings, the elevation of the ship, and the vaults were also replaced. The first patron saint of the church was St. Catherine of Alexandria. After the rebuilding, it was rededicated and its new patron saint became St. Magdalene. Since then, the church has been restored several more times: in 1860, 1912, 1964-65, 1990 and 1991, and most recently in 2015.     On the south side of the church, we can find an open baroque door. The vault of the tower was renovated in the 18th century and is joined by a rectangular nave with a sanctuary. Inside the church, the only decorative element,  is the row of booths on the north wall. The wall painting of the church is not of medieval origin, but it shows respect for the folk elements. Inside the building, there is a fragment of a Romanesque baptismal font and a medieval consecrated cross.   Its tower has three floors and a rich design, with two and three twin windows opening on the levels. The tower is closed by a bucket helmet, which is stiffened by eight wooden beams. In terms of its foundations, it mainly preserved the forms of wooden architecture. Painted decorations and incised shapes have survived on the exterior surfaces. The church may have remained in this form because it lost its significance during the centuries. The former settlement was largely depopulated, the inhabitants moved a little further down the valley, so this church only served as a cemetery chapel. Therefore, it was not important to expand or transform it significantly.   An Orthodox church built in honor of the “Life-giving Source” icon of the Holy Mother of God The foundation stone of the Orthodox church was placed down on 27 December, 2019 in Hévíz. The church which is still under construction will be accessible from Ady Street.     Construction of the church began in the spring of 2020. As metropolitan Mark put it: their choice fell on Hévíz because here the healing of body and soul is possible at the same time, and because Hévíz boasts that Emperor Theodosius owed his life to the water of Hévíz and became one of the most influential in the Roman Empire according to an old legend. The church is based on the plans of the Ybl-awarded architect László Vánca. The 15x15 meter church is traditionally made of brick, with masterfully smoothed corners on its sending walls showing the asymmetrical relief niches, which are masterful combinations of modern and ancient motifs. The Orthodox tower helmet will be adorned with an eight-pointed gold-clad cross. Although the church is not yet finished within the walls under construction, services are already being held.   Explore our beautiful city and see the many faces of the churches in town!

tartalom: + 1 What’s more, cycling is more than a sport! While cycling, you have the possibility to discover the world on two wheels while you are relaxing. Not to mention that cycling is also environmentally friendly and healthy as well! The bicycle road around Lake Balaton has been completed for 15 years. Cyclist have already cycled around the Lake more than once, but they are also ready for new challenges. Cycling became so popular in the past years that the bicycle roads are as crowded as the highways, especially in the summer season. The Hungarian Cyclist Association have been working relentlessly on the BB365 project and its results are already used by every biker. What is BB365 exactly? It is an abbreviation which stands for Balaton Bike 365, meaning that by Lake Balaton it is possible to enjoy bicycle services all year around. Thanks to the project, sign boards were placed out which signal 800 kilometres of bicycle roads in total, four times the length of the complete Lake Balaton bicycle round. 45 different thematic routes were also created, which are also noted by boards. For example, the routes including the Festetics Heritage are red coloured. Circle tours always have letter combinations. The three-digit numbers always mean local routes, while two-digit numbers mean national roads. One-digit roads usually connect to international roads. Be cautious though: the new signs don’t always signal separate bicycle roads since they can also point to appointed car roads or dirt roads too. The BB365 webpage and application are perfect for seeing these roads as well. The BB365 application was awarded ‘The Application of the Year’ award by the Hungarian Marketing Association last year. Cycling fans are able to plan their routes around Lake Balaton in 7 languages. Due to the project, three bicycle centres were also created in Keszthely, in Balatonfüred and in Balatonföldvár. In these centres, bicycles can be rented, or guided tour can be also booked. Fixing services will be also available in the future. For what the BB365 application is good for? Just like in Google, you will be able to make a cycling tour plan, however, in the BB365 app you will only see the routes that you can also cycle on. You will immediately see the quality of the road (bicycle road, car road, dirt road) and the altitudes as well. You are also able to filter your search based on recommended routes if you for example travel with your family or you would like to cycle with a mountain bike. You are also able to rate the routes and recommend it to others. With the pictograms, you can see the sights of the region like castles, viewpoints, museums or churches.
