tartalom: + 1 Beach with an umbrella?! Yes! Swimming in Hévíz is an experience even when it rains or the weather is cooler! The temperature of Lake Hévíz is about 35-36 °C in summer even with rain and wind. If the rain bothers you, you can also relax in the warm water in the building above the lake. Water lilies open up when it rains, and when the air temperature is cooler than the water temperature, one may even be surprised, since the warm water lake is usually steaming!     Summer is not just about the beaches! At the western end of Lake Balaton, there is a lot to do in rainy or cloudy weather as well. 5 program tips around Hévíz in rainy weather: The Farmers' Market of Hévíz can be visited three times a week, on Saturdays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, where you can buy delicacies and handmade trinkets. The Bobo Fun Park is open when it rains as well! The largest adrenaline arena on Lake Balaton and in Hungary was opened just a year ago, and the indoor facility is open for everyone! For adults, the park is full of relaxation and excitement, as it offers a lot of sporting, active recreation in a huge square while for children the park offers curious adventures.     The exhibitions of Helikon Castle have so many exhibitions that one day is not enough to see everything. Why not visit the Festetics Castle on a rainy day? You even have the possibility to visit the several exhibitions with a two-day combined ticket, such as the Noble forms of life, the carriage museum, the railway model and hunting exhibition, or the palm house. In the Castle Museum, many exhibitions have been renewed in recent years, so it's worth taking a look. What's more, each day a themed program awaits the guests as well like guided tours in the castle park, guided tours in the castle from the cellars to the attic and so on.     The Imre Festetics Experience Center awaits everyone! The House of Nature and Animal Park is located at the border of Gyenesdiás, only 10 minutes from Hévíz. With interactive exhibition and many local animals the park is fun for the whole family!     Just around the corner Don't miss the following programs if you are looking for nice activities to do when it's cloudy! The Sümeg Castle Games offer an exciting program for everyone. Throughout the summer you can enjoy the thrill of the knight's tournament every Wednesday and Saturday and you can even take part in a medieval dinner afterwards. The program is perfect in any weather, because when it rains there is a huge knight's hall at the foot of the castle hill, just below the restaurant.     If you would like to do something that brings you closer to nature, taking on a boat trip in the Cave Lake of Tapolca is the perfect program for you! During the summer months, there are always many people at the Visitor Center of the Balaton Upland National Park in Tapolca, where you can get acquainted with the earth's caves in a 3D exhibition and then experience rowing in the crystal clear waters of the cave. In the permanent exhibition of the Balaton Museum you can get acquainted with the past and the present of Lake Balaton. Even though it's a little unplesant to bathe in Lake Balaton when it rains, if there is no wind you can still go on a hip cruise. In the summer months, 1-hour cruises set off from the port of Keszthely.   Hike and enjoy the thousand wonders of nature! Trips on foot and by bike in the area might be a good program to consider. In the Keszthely Mountains you can choose from easy to extreme hiking trails. We offer special hiking routes on our premises and you can rent children's and adult bicycles, e-bikes and e-scooters at the Tourinform Office of Hévíz. The Kányavári Island and Buffalo Reserve at Kis-Balaton are also charming despite of the rain. On the 2.5 km-long nature trail you can admire the water spiders or the great egret up close. You can take part in a Hungarian "safari" program in the buffalo reserve.     You can also get to know native Hungarian animal species in the Africa Museum in Balatonederics, or at the Salföld Ranch in the Balaton Upland National Park. You can also test your stamina in the adventure parks of the area, such as Tavirózsa Adventure Park in Hévíz or the much larger Zobori Adventure Park in Zalaszabar. But you can also walk through dinosaurs in the Dinosaur Park in Rezi.   And last but not least, roam the volcanic sites of the Keszthely Mountains and Lake Balaton! Enjoy the beauty of the hiking trails, the unique panorama of Lake Balaton, visit the castle ruins (Szigliget, Rezi, Tátika, Csobánc) or the basalt organs, because the hilly landscape around awaits hikers every day. Of course, these programs are also wonderful in sunny weather! Discover Hévíz and its surroundings every day of the year, because the visitor places are constantly renewed, beautified and expanded with new experiences! Have you been to any of the places we have listed here? We can say something new! Find our colleagues and the Tourinform office in Hévíz and get advice on where to go!   More information: Tourinform Office Hévíz8380 Hévíz, Rákóczi str. 2.+36 83 540 131heviz@tourinform.hu

The pART forest exhibition is located on a forest path next to the northern stream of Lake Hévíz. By walking in the forest, we can get to know the hidden beauties that are usually difficult to see with the naked eye, or remain hidden during an average walk, through an exhibition showing the wildlife of the nature reserve, selected from more than 60 pictures. Pictures of wonderful birds, special plants, small animals and bugs can be seen on the pictures stretched on and between trees. A significant part of the works are paintings, the work of nature illustrator Márton Zsoldos. The exhibition also includes some photos taken by nature conservationists Előd Búzás and Gábor Sinka, here, in the immediate vicinity of Lake Hévíz. The opening of the forest exhibition is a wooden gate with the motto of the exhibition: "Open to nature!" On behalf of the organizer Hévíz Turisztikai Np Kft., Tamás Pálffy emphasized that the aspects of nature conservation, sustainability and green events were taken into account when organizing the entire Forest Mystery program series. Every event tries to leave the smallest possible ecological footprint, and in all its elements it strives to bring people, nature and the cultural experiences that can be experienced in nature closer to each other in such a way that they interfere with nature only to a small extent, but in no case in a harmful way. Recycled wooden picture frames donated by local residents were also used for this exhibition, and sugar asparagus was used for mounting. The forest exhibition is expected to be on display until September 30, but this may even change due to the use of natural materials and the development of weather conditions. In this case, durability was not even a goal. However, the gate remains! Because whether there is a pART Forest Exhibition in the Hévíz Véderdø or not, the message is always valid: Open to nature! A small taste of the exhibition can be viewed in this photo gallery!

They may be old or new, small or large, but churches are always nice to admire in any city. We don’t even have to be a believer to admire their beauty.

tartalom: + 1 The Cross and the Star There is a small eye-catching building in Helikon Street in Hévíz. At its peaks, the symbols -a cross and a star - indicate that we are in a sacred place. There is also a column next to it erected to commemorate the 500th anniversary of the Reformation with the inscription in Hungarian 'Az ige kőszálként megáll', which is a quote from Psalm 46 meaning 'That word above all earthly powers'.     Although only a few Protestant residents were registered in Hévíz, a collection was in procession for the construction of a Protestant church by the guests staying here in the 1930s. Bálint Szeghalmy also made a plan in 1941. The money donation was collected for its implementation, but the raging war stopped his dream to become real. Finally in 1993, Hévíz donated a plot of land to build a joint Lutheran-Reformed church. The Lutheran and Reformed congregations decided to implement the old plan of Bálint Szeghalmy in a slightly modernized version, prepared by architect Mihály Zoób.     The cross placed on the gable of the church was carved out of white marble at the contractor's own expense. The bell is a donation from the family of Károly Borsos. The foundation stone was placed down on June 16, 1997, and the first service was held on December 6, 1998. In 2003, the church was enriched with the winged altarpiece of the Kossuth and Munkácsy Prize-winning tapestry artist Rózsa Polgár, and in 2004 with the organ designed and built by the organ builder Albert Miklós from Győr.   The Heart of Jesus Church, also known as Fradi Church In 1905, in the neighbourhood of the Roman ruins in the Egregy district of Hévíz, a two-storey bell tower was erected in place of the wooden belfry that had stood there for more than 100 years. In 1937, from local donations, the bell tower was expanded with another level and a tin roof. It was built in a Neo-Romanesque style with twin windows. Two bells were placed in the tower, a smaller one in honor of Mary Magdalene, which was cast in 1905, and a larger one in memory of the 16 heroic soldiers of Egregy who fell in World War I. The latter was made in 1937. In memory of the heroes, 16 linden trees were planted next to the tower, with a head tree at their base.     The bell tower was then renovated in 1990 with the voluntary donation of the people of Egregy, and on April 22, 1995 it was consecrated as the Church of the Heart of Jesus. And why is it called Fradi Church by the locals? Because the church, which was built largely from donations, received unexpected help, as the Ferencváros Gymnastics Club (a famous Hungarian football team from Budapest, nicknamed as Fradi) was also among the donors as well. Not only did the supporters make a financial contribution, but the team and club leadership were present at the consecration of the church. They even donated Fradi Relics to the church (most recently in 2017), which visitors of the church could see in a display case. In light of this, it is not surprising that the church, originally designed in blue and white, was eventually painted green and white which are the official colours of the football team.     Next to the church, a military memorial park was established in 2000 to commemorate the soldiers, civilians and Jewish victims of Egregy and Hévízszentandrás who fell in the First and Second World Wars. In doing so, 70 named headstones were erected. However, only 6 remained of the former 16 linden trees planted.     The Catholic Church on the shores of Lake Hévíz The western shore of Lake Hévíz (today's Schulhof Promenade and the area of the hospital buildings) used to belong partly to the village of Szentandrás and partly to the bishopric of Veszprém. These areas became the property of the Festetics family in 1857 and 1868 through land swaps. Soon after the expansion of the bath land near the lake and landscaping could begin. The row of the completed (except for one building) 7 bath buildings was completed by a chapel. Its construction began in the 1870s and was consecrated in 1877.     We only have a few old engravings and postcards from the chapel, and we also found only a few photos of the inside. The chapel was finally demolished in 1964, when the most modern balneotherapy center in the country was built in its place in the most modern architectural style of the time. It is essentially the hospital’s indoor thermal bath, the Winter Bath, today’s Indoor Bath and Therapy Center, which was handed over in 1968.     The altar of the old Church is going to be exhibited soon on the renovated Shulhof Promenade.   The Holy Spirit Church The most modern and well-known church can be seen from the beginning of the main street leading to the city, as its blue peaks rise high. The church opposite the town hall, which can accommodate up to 1,000 people, was built according to the plans of János Bocskai and was consecrated on September 9, 1999 by retired Archbishop József Szendi.     Breaking into the seven (5 middle and 2 side) towers, the tower guides its visitors to the city from afar. The seven towers symbolize the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit, while the pigeon motif symbolizing the Holy Spirit appears in several places on the building (even the shape of the church looks like a dove opening its wings if we look at the church from the air). On the one hand, in the floor plan of the church, in the design of the floor in front of the entrance, in the motifs of the interior wood and in the painting of the glass window above the main altar.     The interior of the church combines modern architecture and tradition, which is mainly emphasized by the beautiful wood paneling. Due to its good acoustics, it often hosts organ and acoustic concerts. The colorful windows, reminiscent of Gothic style, praise the work of Simon Endre, an artist from Hévíz. The torso on the wall of the sanctuary is a 200-year-old art treasure that was donated to the church. The bronze statue of Christ on the left side of the altar and the statue of Our Lady of Hungary wearing the crown on the right side are also the work of László Marton. The walls are decorated with fire enamel pictures. No bells were placed in the tallest tower for static reasons, but 2-2 bells were placed in the towers to the left and right. Two bells were brought here from 2 old churches in Hévíz, while the other two were donated by families in Hévíz. By the way, the church is mostly mentioned only by the locals and guests as "Blue Church".   The Synagogue, only a memory If we walk towards the Protective Forest of the Lake, next to the entrance to the Deák Square of the Lake Bath, a monument appears at the foot of the trees in the park. The synagogue of Hévíz used to stand here. The lines of the monument evoke the facade of the building of the former house of prayer, with names on it that were once taken from here to death. Among others, dr. Chief physician Vilmos Schulhof.     There were not many Jews living in Hévíz, it is estimated that there could be no more than 2-3% of the population, yet this community was strong enough to build a synagogue in 1933. It is a strange game of fate that the building survived both the Holocaust and the war fortunately, but by 1959 the religious life in Hévíz had ceased. As a result, the house of prayer was not used, its condition greatly deteriorated, so it was demolished in 1977. The monument, erected in 2000, in its simplicity commemorates the former synagogue on the one hand and the former local Jewry on the other, and the pebbles placed on it indicate that faith has survived.   Árpádian church in Egregy, the Church of St. Magdalene The exact time of construction of the church is unknown, it was probably built around mid-13th century. It is first mentioned in written records in 1341. The building was badly damaged in the 16-17th century, and was later renovated in the Baroque era in 1731. Fortunately, only the most necessary parts were repaired, so the medieval form of the church has been preserved. During this renovation, the interior and exterior decorative paintings, the elevation of the ship, and the vaults were also replaced. The first patron saint of the church was St. Catherine of Alexandria. After the rebuilding, it was rededicated and its new patron saint became St. Magdalene. Since then, the church has been restored several more times: in 1860, 1912, 1964-65, 1990 and 1991, and most recently in 2015.     On the south side of the church, we can find an open baroque door. The vault of the tower was renovated in the 18th century and is joined by a rectangular nave with a sanctuary. Inside the church, the only decorative element,  is the row of booths on the north wall. The wall painting of the church is not of medieval origin, but it shows respect for the folk elements. Inside the building, there is a fragment of a Romanesque baptismal font and a medieval consecrated cross.   Its tower has three floors and a rich design, with two and three twin windows opening on the levels. The tower is closed by a bucket helmet, which is stiffened by eight wooden beams. In terms of its foundations, it mainly preserved the forms of wooden architecture. Painted decorations and incised shapes have survived on the exterior surfaces. The church may have remained in this form because it lost its significance during the centuries. The former settlement was largely depopulated, the inhabitants moved a little further down the valley, so this church only served as a cemetery chapel. Therefore, it was not important to expand or transform it significantly.   An Orthodox church built in honor of the “Life-giving Source” icon of the Holy Mother of God The foundation stone of the Orthodox church was placed down on 27 December, 2019 in Hévíz. The church which is still under construction will be accessible from Ady Street.     Construction of the church began in the spring of 2020. As metropolitan Mark put it: their choice fell on Hévíz because here the healing of body and soul is possible at the same time, and because Hévíz boasts that Emperor Theodosius owed his life to the water of Hévíz and became one of the most influential in the Roman Empire according to an old legend. The church is based on the plans of the Ybl-awarded architect László Vánca. The 15x15 meter church is traditionally made of brick, with masterfully smoothed corners on its sending walls showing the asymmetrical relief niches, which are masterful combinations of modern and ancient motifs. The Orthodox tower helmet will be adorned with an eight-pointed gold-clad cross. Although the church is not yet finished within the walls under construction, services are already being held.   Explore our beautiful city and see the many faces of the churches in town!

tartalom: + 1 The Kányavár Island The arched wooden bridge built of wooden beams in the eighties has now become a symbol of Kis-Balaton. We can enjoy a wonderful view of the groves from the bridge. We can admire special waterfowl such as the great egret, the gray heron, or the cormorant, which is less popular with anglers. On the 1.5-kilometer-long "Búbosvöcsök" educational trail, 15 boards show the fish, birds and mammals living in the Kis-Balaton region. You can also go fishing on the island and look at the water and the hills of Zala from two lookout towers.   If you would rather go inside... The Kis-Balaton Visitor Center is the latest exhibition in the Balaton Uplands National Park. An excellent choice for the whole family all year round, with the interactive exhibition even the little ones won't get bored! On the green roof structure of the building, which resembles game passages, you can walk on an interactive educational trail. From here you can clearly see the winter bird feeders and hear birds chirping. There is a gift shop and restaurant in the building as well, and children can enjoy the fresh air in the playground in the courtyard, while parents can refresh themselves with coffee. The cinema is part of the exhibition, where we can get to know the winter-summer, autumn-spring wildlife of Kis-Balaton through touching quotes from the novels of István Fekete Tüskevár and Téli berek during a half-hour film, all in the interpretive interpretation of Gábor Reviczky.     In the interactive part of the exhibition, we can find out what invasive species are and why do they mean danger to the flora and fauna of the region. It turns out what the role of Kis-Balaton is in the protection of the water quality of Lake Balaton, and we can even examine water samples ourselves. If you want to see even more of this magical world, you can take part in a canoe tour organized by the Balaton Uplands National Park from early spring to late autumn. It is only possible to paddle on the Hévíz stream until the mid-March, but on the Gyöngyös stream, which carries the water of the Hévíz stream towards Lake Balaton, the regular tours are available during the year as well. The end point of the rowing tour is Diás Island, where the hut of Matula evokes the atmosphere of the groves. At the István Fekete Memorial next to the small wooden hut, you could also delve into the hidden wonders of Kis-Balaton during a very interesting exhibition.   Secret sights off the beaten path Most places in Kis-Balaton like the Diás Island can only be visited with a guide, but there are quite a few romantic and protected areas that can be explored freely without a guide. Next to the river Zala, you can find the 'Madárvárta' at the dam of Lake Hídvégi, which was built by students from Zurich. The building was made of thousands of acacia logs without any nails or screws. Next to the parking lot, about 100 meters away, you can find the 'fish ladder', where you can marvel at the cavalcade of fish in the spring. The fish ladder between the river Zala and Lake Hidvégi slows down the flow of water, so fish can easily swim in the opposite direction.     Buffaloes and other animal species In the buffalo reserve in Kápolnapuszta, you can not only see buffalos but you can also spot susliks lurking in the grass! Even in the early 20th century, the ground squirrel was considered harmful and therefore water was into their passages, so they would be forced to move away. Other spectacular animals are the goats and donkeys in the petting zoo. In the colonies carved into the loess wall, the bee-eaters stand out with their brightly colored feathers.     But what about buffaloes? The Balaton Uplands National Park started breeding water buffaloes in 1992 in an area purchased for gene conservation. The reserve is home to the largest herd of buffalo in the country, living in great peace with the gray cattles. During the winter, the animals spend most of their time in the barn near the entrance, where we can see the traditional stock-farming in a cozy old photo next to the buffaloes. In better weather, the animals are on pasture, which is most easily reached by horse-drawn carriage ordered in the centre building. The so called black giants are also “buffalo-strong” and don’t necessarily always approach people with friendly intentions. Driving through in the pastures with a horse-drawn carriage is like being on safari. A novelty in the area of the reserve is the lookout tower, which was handed over on January 28, 2022, where we can now observe the animals from up above.   The Kis-Balaton House: a cultural travel Next to the foundation walls of the former church of St. Adorjan and the Cyril and Methodius Memorial Column, you could enjoy the photos of the wonders of Zala County in a Millennium Monument designed by Imre Makovecz. In the letters hanging from the top of the special-shaped dome, you can read the names of the settlements of the county. At the exhibition of the Kis-Balaton House you can find out about the wildlife, and the children can have fun on the playground. Next to the Kis-Balaton House, you can reach the island of Kanyavár on an asphalted bike path on the bank of the river Zala. You can also rent a bike at the Kis-Balaton House. (Opening: March 12. Address: Zalavár, Vársziget utca 2.)   For more information on sights and programs: Tourinform Hévíz8380 Hévíz, Rákóczi str. 2.heviz@tourinform.hu+36 83 540 131

tartalom: + 1 What’s more, cycling is more than a sport! While cycling, you have the possibility to discover the world on two wheels while you are relaxing. Not to mention that cycling is also environmentally friendly and healthy as well! The bicycle road around Lake Balaton has been completed for 15 years. Cyclist have already cycled around the Lake more than once, but they are also ready for new challenges. Cycling became so popular in the past years that the bicycle roads are as crowded as the highways, especially in the summer season. The Hungarian Cyclist Association have been working relentlessly on the BB365 project and its results are already used by every biker. What is BB365 exactly? It is an abbreviation which stands for Balaton Bike 365, meaning that by Lake Balaton it is possible to enjoy bicycle services all year around. Thanks to the project, sign boards were placed out which signal 800 kilometres of bicycle roads in total, four times the length of the complete Lake Balaton bicycle round. 45 different thematic routes were also created, which are also noted by boards. For example, the routes including the Festetics Heritage are red coloured. Circle tours always have letter combinations. The three-digit numbers always mean local routes, while two-digit numbers mean national roads. One-digit roads usually connect to international roads. Be cautious though: the new signs don’t always signal separate bicycle roads since they can also point to appointed car roads or dirt roads too. The BB365 webpage and application are perfect for seeing these roads as well. The BB365 application was awarded ‘The Application of the Year’ award by the Hungarian Marketing Association last year. Cycling fans are able to plan their routes around Lake Balaton in 7 languages. Due to the project, three bicycle centres were also created in Keszthely, in Balatonfüred and in Balatonföldvár. In these centres, bicycles can be rented, or guided tour can be also booked. Fixing services will be also available in the future. For what the BB365 application is good for? Just like in Google, you will be able to make a cycling tour plan, however, in the BB365 app you will only see the routes that you can also cycle on. You will immediately see the quality of the road (bicycle road, car road, dirt road) and the altitudes as well. You are also able to filter your search based on recommended routes if you for example travel with your family or you would like to cycle with a mountain bike. You are also able to rate the routes and recommend it to others. With the pictograms, you can see the sights of the region like castles, viewpoints, museums or churches. tartalom: + 1 We will consider excellent any quality of wine that can age without any addition, without mixing any substances which can altered its natural flavor. In fact, the best things are those that can be appreciated for their intrinsic characteristics Lucius Junius Moderatus Columella, Roman writer   A Drop of Wine and a Drop of History Wine is a drink created by alcoholic fermentation from the squeezed sweet juice of wine-growing grape clusters. People have been making wine for at least 600 years. According to the Bible, Noah planted grapes on the side of Mount Ararat and made intoxicating wine from them. According to archaeological research, the habit of growing grapes and making wine first appeared in Transcaucasia (the territory of present-day Turkey, Iran and Armenia). In the area of the Carpathian basin, the Romans cultivated grapes even before the conquest. According to Anonymus, the chronicler, the ancestors of the Hungarians knew wine. From the end of the 3rd century, the spread of Christianity promoted the cultivation of grape varieties that produce red wine. The Hungarians cultivated grapes mainly around the castles. At the time of King Matthias, our country was one of the most famous grape-producing countries in Europe. In 1815, the first wine book in Hungarian was published, and in the 18th century, the mandatory wine production standards of communities, the rights and obligations of the owners were recorded in laws. Pure varietal plantations appeared in the Hungarian wine regions from the end of the 19th century.   You can taste the wines of several excellent wineries from 18 to 21 August at the Hévíz Wine and Gastro Promenade! We have collected some wineries to get you started:   This Year’s Winner The guest of honor of Hévíz Wine and Gastro Promenade will be the Cézár Winery. A Savignon Blanc from 2021 was titled Wine of the City this year, which you can taste at the stand of the winery as well. The winery has 100 hectares of vineyards and was built in 2006 in Nagyrada, not too far from Kis-Balaton. Previously, several lands were purchased in the area and several red wine grapes were planted alongside the white varieties. Until the winery was built, there were many varieties, such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Sírah, Pinot Noir, Malbec Cabernet Franc. The winery belongs to the Zala wine region, and it is the largest plant in the Zala region with its 2,500 m2 land. Their philosophy is to make the quality wines of the region known as widely as possible, so that outstanding wines can be produced in the region with high-quality technology and theoretical knowledge. In addition to wines, other grape-related products, e.g. they also produce balsamic vinegar, cognac brandy, grape seed oils, and ground coffee. Quality - Dedication - Future - Experience - 100% CEZAR www.cezarpinceszet.hu   Thousand Goods from Mór The Paulus Winery was founded in 2012, and currently has 130 hectares of growing land. Generosa, Ezerjó (Thousan Good), Welsh Riesling, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Királyleányka (Little Princess) were predominantly planted in the area. With its territory extending at the feet of the Vértes Mountains, Paulus is the largest winery in the Mór wine region. In addition to 15 varieties of white grapes, there is also the Pinot Noir grape variety that forms the basis of their Rosé wines. In addition to mechanized harvesting, which is unique in the country, they also keep in mind the need for the work of careful hands. Their goal is to adapt to consumer needs, which is why they offer their wines in dry, semi-dry and sweet flavors. In addition to still wines, sparkling wines and champagnes are also available in their selection. www.paulusborhaz.hu   To Villány and Beyond The Mokos Family Winery has been present in the life of the wine region for 3 generations. Their carefully harvested grapes can be found on the slopes of the Villány Mountains. In 2003, they started planting 15 hectares of grapes on the plantations inherited from their predecessors, which were further expanded in 2018 with 2 hectares of white grapes, further expanding the selection of varieties. Portugieser, Kékfrankos (Blaufrankisch – Blue Frankish), Pinot Noir, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon are typical for the region, and you can also try them at their stand. In addition to red wines, they also produce fruit wine specialties, which are made from ingredients from their own 45-hectare orchard. From strawberry to blueberries you will find a wide range of varieties. The winery produces around 100,000 bottles of wine each year. www.mokos.hu   More information Tourinform Office Hévíz Hévíz, Rákóczi u. 2. cím: HOW, WHERE, WHY DO YOU FLY IN A HOT AIR BALLOON?
lead: A little historical perspective!
tartalom: + 1 The first test flight of a hot air balloon carrying people was carried out on October 19, 1783 near Paris. And on November 21, the first public flight took place, which then lasted 25 minutes and approx. We managed to cover 7.5 km. The balloon rose with the help of heated air, which was produced by burning straw and dry wood on a grate under the balloon dome. It only took a few days, however, and on December 1 of the same year, the first hot-air balloon filled with hydrogen took off in the vicinity of Paris, rising to a height of 550 meters. Unfortunately for them, upon landing, the local residents were so horrified that they immediately destroyed the "evil structure". The practical spread of balloons was given a big boost by the American Civil War of 1861-63, when the first balloon air force was created. Hot air balloon flights were also of great importance in terms of scientific experimentation. As early as 1784, scientific tests and experiments were carried out in flight. What was investigated: changes in temperature and air pressure, air composition, gravity, examination of living beings, meteorological processes. In July 1803, the first strictly scientific flight took place in Hamburg. Physicists flew for 5 and a half hours, up to an altitude of 7,000 meters, without oxygen bottles, in excruciating pain. Studies are carried out regarding cloud and air electricity, sound propagation, the boiling point of water and the evaporation process. The hobby and sports balloons used today, as well as the hot air balloons operated for tourist purposes, rise or fall according to the long-proven hot air principle, with the big difference that the hot air is now not achieved by burning dry branches, but by propane bottles. The Balaton Ballooning team told us interesting facts about ballooning We asked the pilots of Hungary's largest hot air balloon what they know about the huge balloon they fly around Hévíz and Kis-Balaton. Pilots Péter Kollár and Attila Aklan control Balaton Ballooning's hot air balloon from spring to the end of October, almost every day when the weather permits. We received answers to a number of questions, and here are the following, briefly and succinctly:TECHNICAL DATA What parts does a hot air balloon usually have? The main parts of hot air balloons are: basket, burner, dome, tension ropes, fuel (gas) tanks. In addition, the following are required for operation: fans for inflation, trailer for ground transport. Are there types of hot air balloons? If so, what are yours like? There are several types of balloons, Balaton Ballooning's Cameron A-375. The type is composed as follows: Cameron Ltd. is the manufacturer, A-type indicates the cut shape, the volume of the dome is 375,000 cubic feet (10,620 m3). The basket What is the size and weight of the basket and how many people can it fit?350x170 cm, 356 kg, 18 passengers + 1 pilot can travel in it. This is the largest used basket size at home. There are only 2 larger basket sizes, the largest can carry 27 people. The smallest is only 80x70 cm, weighs 55 kg and can accommodate only 1 person. What material is the basket made of?Sea reed woven on a metal and plastic frame. Can a basket have characteristics? Our basket is also unique, based on the plans of the chief pilot and the executive, it was made in the Ultramagic factory in Catalonia. It was developed for passenger flights, 5 and 4 people can travel in the right and left asymmetric passenger compartments. Each passenger has a space of 0.25 square meters as required by the EU. At the same time, it is unique in that it is also equipped with seat belts, which is rare because it is not mandatory. That's why only our basket is like this at home, but this is not typical in the world either. The dome How big is the dome?It has a volume of 10,620 m3 and a maximum load capacity of 3,401 kg - it can lift this much weight. When tensioned, it is as tall as a 10-story prefab house. It is 35 meters high, and its diameter at its widest point is 15 meters. This is the biggest balloon in Hungary. What material is the dome made of? Is it similar to what a spinnaker is for sailing ships, or a parachute for skydivers?Yes, it is a Hyperlast material. It has high tensile strength and can withstand 125 degrees Celsius without heat damage. Furthermore, the lower part at the burner head is made of Nomex flame retardant material. Why are there gaps in the dome circle? These are turning wheels, with the help of which the balloon can be turned 360 degrees along its longitudinal axis. Before landing, the pilot rotates the balloon to the landing side, and the balloon can also be rotated during flight, so that all passengers can see everything in a 360-degree panoramic view. How damage resistant is the dome? The Hyperlast material is a densely woven material with high tensile strength, so it is not fragile. What is the air temperature in the dome?Between 80 and 120 degrees, depending on whether we fly in cold (spring-autumn) or hot (summer) weather. What will happen to the dome when it is no longer in use? - Can this be used for something else?It will be scrapped. We can't use it for anything else. Fuel What kind of fuel does the balloon need?Propane gas, which is filled in special bottles for balloon flights. How much fuel do you need to fly?On average, 110-150 kg of propane gas is burned during a 1-hour flight. How heavy is the fuel at the beginning of the flight? The starting weight is 300 kg. How long is the fuel taken for?Sufficient for roughly 2.5 hours of flight time How much fuel is consumed depends on what? From the total weight of the passengers and how many degrees the outside air temperature is. Heavy passengers and 35 degree heat consumes a lot of gas. THE PILOTS AND THE STAFF How many people do your balloons have?In a hot air balloon, we distinguish between the air crew, who are the pilots, and the ground service crew. There is room for 1 pilot in the basket, take-off, landing, unpacking and transport are carried out by 4 people. What does a pilot need to know?European and Hungarian aviation laws, regulations and regulations. Historical knowledge (balloon flight). Theoretical foundations of balloon flight. Flight execution methodology. Meteorology, navigation, first aid, fire protection. Radio management and distribution rules. Knowledge of aircraft, instrumentation, use of other tools. Inspection, repair. Knowledge of regulations. Emergencies and what to do in case of an emergency. Ground preparation. Aviation knowledge. I have an instructor's and A, B, C, D professional service license. Which means I can drive all categories of balloons. I have flown 3,606 hours, 3,492 flights, I have been flying only with balloons for 38 years. Do the ground staff also need training?Appropriate driving license for the vehicles used to transport the balloon and passengers. Knowledge related to balloon flight: Ground preparation. Aviation knowledge. Radio management and distribution rules. Flight execution methodology. First aid, fire protection. OSH education. RISING, DESCENT, CHANGE OF DIRECTION How do you control a hot air balloon to how high it goes? which direction to fly?It all depends on the direction and speed of the wind. Wind blows in different directions and speeds at different heights. The direction and distance of flight depends on these stratospheric winds. By increasing or decreasing the temperature of the air in the balloon, the balloon can be raised to different heights in order to obtain a favorable wind. What makes take-off or landing difficult or complicated?Due to the strength of the wind, e.g. We cannot take off in case of a ground wind speed of 15 km/h. When landing, if the wind increases or changes. Is there a hot air balloon where you can control it better and fly on a fixed route? No, that's not really possible. There are characteristic wind directions resulting from geographical features that can be counted on, based on meteorological forecasts, but this cannot be called a planned, fixed route. In the past, there were bags filled with sand on the sides of the balloons, which were used to control the height. Is there still such a ballast in the hot air balloon?Only gas balloons fly with ballast. Gas balloons are filled with a gas that is lighter than air (e.g. hydrogen, helium or ammonia), the buoyancy of which lifts them up. The gas providing passive lift heats up in the sun and starts to rise uncontrollably, it cools down at night, its buoyancy decreases and the balloon will sink. There is no possibility of refilling in the air, so they carry sandbags as ballast. They can rise by scattering themselves from the sand, and sink by releasing gas. What is the highest altitude and the longest distance you have flown up and down?We were already flying at an altitude of 3,000 meters. Our furthest flight was from Hévíz to Noszlop. This is roughly a distance of 55 km as the crow flies. This distance with such a balloon is actually the unofficial Hungarian record. REGULATION Is there a law that regulates hot air ballooning? Who and how supervises who can fly, where and with what? The rules are laid down in the XCVII of 1995. Act on Aviation, is determined by the Department of Aviation Inspection Authority of the Ministry of Construction and Transport and the European Aviation Safety Agency. The pilot must have a valid professional service license and flight medical certificate for the given aircraft, and the balloon must have a valid airworthiness and registration certificate and insurance. Are there traffic rules that apply to hot air balloons?Yes. During daily flights, you can fly according to the airspace utilization plan issued by HungaroControl Magyar Légiforgalgi Szolgálat, taking into account prohibited and restricted airspaces. What determines how far a hot air balloon can fly safely? - are there statistics on how many times you have flown with this balloon? There is a technical exam after every 100 hours flown. During this, the tensile strength of the dome material is also reviewed. If it can withstand a breaking load of 14 kg, it can be flown. We are currently on flight 841. (September 18, 2023) OTHER INTERESTS How often do hot air balloon accidents happen?Since the balloon is a simple structure that works on a simple principle, accidents are not common. What happens if someone gets altitude sickness? How fast can you land?Passengers don't usually get sick. If so, I have cold mineral water, aspirin, and candy. Quick landing is not possible. Therefore, we do not carry passengers with circulatory, locomotor, or psychiatric problems, or those who are under the influence of alcohol or any other mind-altering substance. Is there competition for hot air balloons?Yes, but only for smaller balloons. Ours is not a competition balloon. What clothes should passengers fly in?When getting in and out of the balloon basket, it is more practical to use closed sports shoes and long pants, they can also be useful due to the uncertain landing site. Due to the possible wind, it is not recommended to wear hats that are easily blown away by the wind, and since we usually fly in the evening, at sunset, it is worth bringing a jacket or sweater with you even in the summer. As you go up, how does the temperature change?Moving away from the surface, the average temperature decreases. The decrease is 1 °C per 100 meters in dry air and 0.65 °C in moist air. You can sometimes hear that there are hot air balloon expeditions on extreme routes - what are the main differences compared to hot air ballooning?Hot air balloon expeditions (crossing the ocean, circumnavigation, arctic) use special balloons, and there are also mixed-use ones (helium and hot air balloons at the same time). Balloons flying this high raise closed, pressurized cabins. It's just a vehicle, and with vehicles there's always an interesting question: how much does it cost?In the case of this type, the basket is approx. HUF 12 million, dome approx. 25 million, burner approx. 5 million, gas tanks HUF 800,000. It's not something you just take home for fun.
You can fly with Balaton Ballooning until the end of October, and the next time it will take off is in the spring of 2024. If you miss out this year, you can buy a gift certificate for the next season, even for a birthday, anniversary, or Christmas! tartalom: + 1 Kányavári Island The arched wooden bridge built from wooden beams in the 1980s has now become a symbol of Kis-Balaton. We can enjoy a wonderful view from the bridge. We can admire such special waterfowl as the great egret, gray heron, or the cormorant, which is less popular with fishermen. On the one-and-a-half kilometer long Búbosvöcsök nature trail, 15 signs present the fish, birds, and mammals of the Little Balaton. You can also fish on the island and you can spy the water and the Zalai hills from two lookouts. In cooler weather, a little indoor attraction is good The Kis-Balaton Visitor Center is an exhibition of the Balaton Upland National Park that has only been open for 2 years. It is an excellent choice for the whole family all year round. You can walk along an interactive nature trail on the building's green-roofed structure, which looks like wildlife crossings. From here you can clearly see the winter bird feeders and you can hear the "opening song" of the ever more active black tit. The building houses a gift shop and a restaurant, and children can enjoy fresh air on the playground in the courtyard, while parents refresh themselves with coffee. Part of the exhibition is the cinema, where during a half-hour film we can get to know the winter-summer, autumn-spring life of Kis-Balaton through soul-touching quotes selected from the novels of István Fekete Tüskevár and Téli berek, all in the understanding interpretation of Gábor Reviczky. In the interactive part of the exhibition, we can find out what invasive species are and why we don't like them. We will find out what the role of Little Balaton is in protecting the water quality of Lake Balaton, and we can even examine water samples ourselves. Those who want to see even more of this magical wildlife can take part in a guided canoe tour organized by the Balaton Upland National Park from early spring to late autumn. The winter canoeing season has also started on the Hévíz stream. Those who take part in this can row along the Hévíz stream and then the Gyöngyös stream, and get to know this unique wetland. The end point of the rowing tour is Diás Island, where the Matula hut, evoking the atmosphere of Tüskevár, stands. At the István Fekete Memorial next to the small wooden hut, you can also delve into the hidden wonders of Kis-Balaton during a very interesting exhibition. Our secret tip is the bird watch and fish ladder Several locations in Kis-Balaton, such as the aforementioned Diás island, can only be visited with a guide, but there are still quite a few romantic and protected areas that can be visited freely without a guide. Next to the Zala river, at the dam of Lake Hídvégi, you can find the Madárvártara, which was built by Zurich students from thousands of acacia logs without any nails or screws. Next to the parking lot, 100 meters away on the fish ladder, depending on the season, you can marvel at the cavalcade of fish. The fish ladder between the Zala River and Lake Hidvégi slows down the flow of water, so that fish can easily swim upstream.   Buffaloes and other types of animals In the Kápolnapuszta buffalo reserve, in addition to the black giants, the ground squirrels are the favorites of children and adults, who cutely graze on the grass grazed by the buffaloes. Anyone who did not know János Arany's poem Arany Lacinak would not even think that the poor groundhog was "cast". Even at the beginning of the 20th century, groundhogs were considered harmful and therefore water was poured into their passages. Other spectacular animals are the jumping goats and donkeys in the petting zoo. In the colonies dug into the loess wall, the gophers attract attention with their brightly colored feathers. But what about buffaloes? The Balaton Upland National Park started breeding water buffalo in the area purchased in 1992 for the purpose of gene conservation. The largest herd of buffaloes in the country can be found in the territory of the reserve, which lives in great peace with the gray cattle. During the winter, the animals spend most of their time in the barn near the entrance, where you can see the traditional animal husbandry in a cozy old photo next to the buffaloes. In case of good weather, the animals are in the pastures, which can be reached in the easiest way by a horse-drawn carriage ordered from the reception building. The giants are "buffalo-strong" and do not necessarily always approach people with friendly intentions, and driving through them in a horse-drawn carriage is a real "safari" feeling. A new feature of the reserve is the viewing platform, which was handed over on January 28, from which we can now also observe the animals from above. (GPS: 46.581816, 17.20314) Kis-Balaton House, cultural trip Next to Zalavár, next to the foundation walls of the former St. Adorján church and the Cyril and Methodius memorial column, you can enjoy photos of the wonders of Zala county in a very cool Millennium Memorial designed by Imre Makovecz. You can read the names of the county's settlements in the letters hanging from the top of the specially shaped dome. At the Kis-Balatonház exhibition, you can learn about the living world, and children can have fun on the playground. Next to the Kis-Balaton Ház, you can reach the Kányavári island on the asphalted bicycle path on the banks of the Zala river. At the Kis-Balaton Ház you can also rent a bicycle, if you don't start on the asphalted Zala coast, but in the other direction, you can even go as far as Zalaapáti on the embankment.   Are you interested in more hiking tips in the area? tartalom: + 1 The cold, foggy, rainy winter days seem to be easily survivable only when viewed from a warm room. It goes without saying that in Hévíz we recommend a pleasantly warm bath to everyone. Unwind with the power of steam! In Hévíz, if you want really warm water, you can bathe in the indoor and outdoor spa and thermal waters of the Hévíz Tófürdő or the wellness hotels. If you are willing to take on extra experiences, bathe outside in the Hévíz lake, even when it is snowing, in the warm water of the swimming pool, which is approximately 23-25°C. If you want to be sure, you can choose the indoor and outdoor thermal pools of spa and wellness hotels for the guaranteed 36°C water. Want to actively sweat? As soon as the colder autumn days arrive, the stones of the saunas in Hévíz are already heating up. It is no coincidence that the most popular autumn-winter spa experience is sauna. Pores expand in the steam of Finnish saunas. The hot air permeates every part of us and has a beneficial effect not only on our well-being, but also on the functioning of the immune system. Take a sauna anywhere, anytime to keep yourself fresh, and take a sauna with friends for the sake of the experience, because the professional sauna masters not only fill your body, but also your soul with new energy! Melt with the power of steam! Of course, you can not only warm up in traditional Finnish saunas. In the wellness hotels, steam cabins, infrared saunas, scented individual or couples' bathtubs, and light therapy equipment also help you forget the cold weather outside. If we are really lucky, we can crown the day with an outdoor hot tub. All that is good: in one! And this is the Hévíz medicinal mud massage to the core. The thick black mud, heated to around 40°C, is applied thickly on the skin and then massaged over the entire body surface. As the mud slowly cools, our skin warms up. After the massage, a very thorough warm bath is recommended, which can also be combined with swimming in 34-36°C medicinal water.
Walk, jog, hike! Forget that it's not sunny and 30°C! Put on warm shoes, layered clothes, a wind and waterproof jacket, and you can start an exciting tour! In the vicinity of Hévíz, whether you head in the direction of Rezi, Lake Balaton or Kis-Balaton, you will find numerous well-marked hiking trails. But, if you were only walking here in the city, we recommend the Tavirózsa Tanösvény, whose 2.2 km long route leads around Lake Hévíz, in the 'lower' and 'upper' Véderdő. Even if you don't go far from the city, you can recharge your energy by walking along the forest roads, move your muscles and enjoy the fresh and clean air, while you can catch a glimpse of the steaming thermal water from several points of the promenade - even from the canopy promenade. One thing is for sure, a hearty walk will definitely warm you up. Is it too cold for outdoor sports or is it raining? Jump over to Alsópáhok and test yourself in the Adrenalin Arena! Row on a steaming stream! Find a friendly tour guide and join the challenge! You will have a wonderful experience on the warm flowing water of Lake Hévíz, on the Hévíz stream. The approximately 3-hour program includes 10 km of paddling, for which you do not need to be a professional canoeist, and you can even take on the distance with children. Bring warm clothes and maybe a pillow under your bottom, and the organizers will provide you with professional equipment and hot drinks during the journey and at the end of the distance. But if you paddle, you won't get cold! Invite yourself over for a hot drink! You don't even have to get up from the armchair or move away from the bar to warm us up! Order yourself a warm punch, a hot coffee, tea, chocolate, or perhaps a spicy mulled wine and you can already feel like the emperor of life, as long as you let the steaming drink in your palm sip, so that the minutes just tick by carefree.

tartalom: + 1 The IMTM 2023 – International Mediterranean Tourism Market was held two months ago in Expo Tel Aviv for the first time after COVID. The exhibition was a success. Endless booths and representations of both countries and private tourism providers alike. Walking between the cubicles and meeting hundreds of professionals, I suddenly noticed a small modest counter in a remote corner with the Hungarian flag. There I met Petr Ostrovkin, an impressive businessman with his intrepetor. I was curious about the product he was trying to market – a hotel in Hungary he owns on a small lake I never heard of. Petr invited me to visit and within a few weeks I found myself spending an incredible time by Europe’s largest thermal basin – lake Hévíz, chick to chick with Lake Balton.
There I investigated, discovered and experienced – why do Hungarians desire top thermal baths so much. Or, is it true that Hungary is indeed a “bathing world-power”.  The explanation is rather straightforward – history, tradition and geography are all mixed, like a traditional Jewish Cholent. The Romans that ruled in ancient Hungary left first their famous mark here. They had bathing and cleaning habits. Bathing was an important part of their lifestyle, which meant refreshing the body and soul. They built baths in this region, mainly for their military forces. Several private baths were also framed by wealthy Romans in their mansions. It is believed that the Roman healers built separate bathing complexes for those who were in poor health condition.   Hungarian bath culture started flourishing with medieval Turkish rule – an art wall creation in Rudas bath, Budapest (photo by Motti Verses) Going back in time – Rudas turkish style sink, Budapest (photo by Motti Verses) However it is believed that the Hungarian bath culture started flourishing with medieval Turkish rule. The Ottoman Empire, historically  the Turkish Empire, controlled much of southeast Europe, including Hungary. They are the ones that lay down the foundations of thermal baths. The Ottomans also introduced people to the habits of their wellness treatments. Massages, body creams and oils. The Turks valued bathing as both a cleansing ritual and social gathering. The Hungarians were doubtful. Only the Turks were allowed to use the baths during the day. Curious Hungarians only went to the thermal baths at night-time, especially in Budapest that was and still is a city of bathing power. The rest is history. Over the years these baths became part of a balanced life culture in Hungary. Bearing in mind that the country has no access to an ocean or a sea, relying on Lake Balaton for recreational needs, local baths flourished. The neighbors in Austria, once part of the joint dual Monarchy under the name Austro-Hungarian Empire, similarly love thermal baths . Lake Hévíz, Europe’s largest thermal basin (photo by Motti Verses) Endless steam – Lake Hévíz (photo by Motti Verses) A small creek with water coming from the lake- similar as the hotel thermal baths (photo by Motti Verses) No wonder the small Lake Hévíz, Europe’s largest thermal basin is an extremely popular destination – a two hours drive, either from Budapest or Vienna. It is 38.5 meters deep, with 410 liters per second water flow rate and biologically volcanically active – a natural thermal lake with magical health capabilities. Some call it the fountain of life. Since 1795 these healing waters helped people to recover and regain their strength. Most visitors return home refreshed and rejuvenated. Experts indicate that the chemical ingredients of cold and hot water springs, with 40 degrees of sulphuric medicinal water here, are richer than those in thermal baths in Budapest. Hévíz is where Petr Ostrovkin’s hotel is. He hopes Israelis will in time flock to his shimmering estate. His Lotus Therme Hotel & Spa offers 232 rooms and suites and is an ultimate destination for a relaxing and therapeutic vacation. The hotel is located in a gigantic natural park within walking distance to Lake Hévíz. This walk is rather surreal along a small creek with steam water coming from the lake. Our visit was just recently but the temperatures were low and a constant drizzle dominated our stay. Endless steam evaporates as the water temperature is very high. Guests may enjoy Lake Hévíz mineral water reaching the spa via pipes. Definitely the most rewarding experiences one can enjoy here. Lotus Therme is a pampering traditional hotel. A variety of different indoor pools in contrasting water temperatures are offered. The great jacuzzi was the strongest I have ever experienced. The main round pool is heated, but does not contain healing water. Pouring rain while your body is soaked deep in hot water is just paradise. We loved our morning swim in this well maintained pool. A unique experience in any weather conditions. The wellness spa offers a variety of treatments with Lake Hévíz products, however we did not experience them. The pampering pools were just fantastic. The daily scenery from the room balcony – total relaxation (photo by Motti Verses) A great experience while swimming – constant drizzle with steam evaporation, as the water temperature is very high (photo by Motti Verses) The relaxing lobby of Lotus Therme Hotel & Spa (photo by Motti Verses) Lotus is the key element here as this water flower really blossoms on this never surprising natural wonder. Apparently they like the volcanic water and always thrive in warm water with a need room to grow. The lake provides the perfect environment and the hotel wisely promotes this unique phenomenon as a marketing tool in its logo and with endless art creations all over the facilities. Advertisement   Hungarians and Austrians might carry a mosaic of a historical ambivalent relationship, but both people surly adore Lake Hévíz. The majority of guests in the hotel originate from those countries that share love for thermal baths. Lotus Therme Hotel & Spa is offering both food and entertainment with this fact in mind. Pleasant veteran General Manager Attila Fulop is heading skilled team members that work here for many years. Dressed with formal clothes they all recognize the guests who keep returning here. Loyal customers are the best proof for success. The menu at dinner is different each evening and the variety is one of the most generous I have seen. The bar is crowded each night and live dancing with different musicians each day are offered here. Guests of all ages are actually dancing. General Manager Fulop knows his work. A dream of a good hotelier is to keep his guests in its premises and not looking for alternatives elsewhere. Will Israelis flock to Hévíz? Hamat Gader hot springs site in the Yarmouk River valley, used since the classical antiquity, is one of the most popular attractions for Israelis. With that in mind and the endless daily flights from Ben Gurion airport to Budapest, the potential is certainly there. Especially in winter when the flight costs are rock bottom. Hévíz here we come.

Last modification: 2023. June. 19. 15:04

The real summer arrived on June 1. There were places where the thermometers already showed 30°C on the first day of summer and many people were already bathing in Lake Balaton, despite the fact that spring was not very kind to us, so the heat arrived quite late. So it's time to give you an overview of where and how much you can swim in the Hévíz area this summer after the adventure parks.

There were places where the thermometers already showed 30°C on the first day of summer and many people were already bathing in Lake Balaton, despite the fact that spring was not very kind to us, so the heat arrived quite late. So it's time to give you an overview of where and how much you can swim in the Hévíz area this summer after the adventure parks.
tartalom: The great advantage of this article is that it shows on a map which beach is where, and what is worth knowing about it, and you can even find pictures! If you are also interested in the prices, scroll down a little towards the end of the article! A black poi indicates the Hévíz Tófürdő and beach Red dots show the classic beaches on the Balaton shore In the place of burgundy pois, there are adventure parks and adventure baths The blue pois are lakes where you can't swim, but you can fish instead :) Let's see which are the classic beaches next to Lake Balaton. There are roughly 7+2 beaches near Hévíz that are very popular among guests. Keszthely City Beach | Keszthely Libás Beach | Alsógyenes Lidó Beach | Gyenesdiás Play Beach | Vonyarcvashegyi Lido Beach | Balatongyörök Beach | Balatonberény Beach + Dog Beach in Keszthely and Naturist Beach in Balatonberény   It is typical of the above beaches that you can go for a walk or even take a bath outside of the high season. You can use the playgrounds and sports fields, but the buffets and restrooms are only open during the beach season. In the late spring period, you should expect that renovations, weeding, flower planting, and toys are being renovated, but by the beginning of June, almost all beaches can be visited. There are entrance tickets, where they start collecting from June 1, and where they start collecting from the beginning of the school holidays. The opening hours - as long as you have to buy a full price ticket - are usually between 8:00 and 18:00, but in many places you can buy an evening swimming ticket before closing, which is cheaper and usually after 6 or 7, entry is free. Most beaches have student and pensioner discounts, family tickets or weekly passes can also be purchased. In terms of accessibility, a common feature of the beaches in the area is that they are easy to find. By bicycle, the cash desks are almost within reach of the Balaton bicycle path, and by car, of course, you can park for free next to every beach. Moreover, with the exception of the dog beach and the Libás beach, all other beaches are close to the local train station, so if you can, you can even go by train.   Lake Hévíz, as a uniqueness, is a spa, lake spa and beach spa all in one Unique in the world, Lake Hévíz combines thermal spas and beach spas in such a way that none of them really exist. Due to its uniqueness, you can bathe in the natural thermal spring all year round, and thanks to the covered parts, you can enjoy the experience of warm water even in pouring rain or snow. Depending on the weather, in the spring, usually in May, the beach area opens even earlier, where you can enjoy the pleasures of water around 30°C or even warmer before the Balaton beach season. The children's pools are only filled in mid-June, as they have heated normal water. From the point of view that you can swim in a real, natural, warm water lake and relax and sunbathe on its shore, it is more like a beach, but based on the services, opening hours and prices based on medicinal water, it can be classified more like a thermal spa. You definitely have to try it once, because it is really unique and special, completely different from all the usual beaches and adventure pools! Adventure baths and slide park Near Hévíz, we have to write about 3 major thermal and adventure baths and a slide park. Closer to Hévíz is the Kehida Thermal Bath in Kehidakustány, many people also visit the Karos Spa complex in Zalakaros, and Zalaszentgrót also has a thermal and adventure bath. Perhaps a little further, in Zalaegerszeg there is an Aquacity and slide park. The common feature of the first three thermal spas is that their indoor pools are open all year round, but in the summer season they also open their outdoor beach with adventure park, slides and a large green surface to the public. These baths, although they cannot be called classic beaches, can be visited regardless of the weather, since even if we cannot use the outdoor experiences, the indoor pools are still open. Another important feature they have in common is that they have pools with medicinal water and heated normal water pools. Aquacity, located next to the last-mentioned Zalaegerszeg, only operates in the summer, during the school holidays. It does not have an indoor bath, only outdoor pools and numerous slides, among which all ages can find their favorite. At the same time, just like the Balaton beaches, this adventure bath is only visited in nice, summer weather. Let's look at the prices for 2023! Adult day ticket prices for classic beaches in 2023! We warn you in advance that the ticket price does not reflect the quality of the services! On the slightly more expensive beaches, the extra program options and extra experience elements provide the basis for a higher price category, while the slightly cheaper beaches are typically smaller, more family-friendly, and offer fewer of the same high-quality services. In addition, all the classic beaches listed here (except for dogs and naturists) have Blue Wave certification and are multiple category winners (child-friendly beach, sporty beach, green beach). The different types of ticket prices mean that entrance tickets to most beaches in the pre-summer season, in June, are cheaper than in July and August. Keszthely City Beach - 1300 - 1500 HUF Keszthelyi Libás Beach - 1000 - 1100 HUF Gyenesdiás Lidó Beach - 1100 - 1300 HUF Gyenesdiási Game Beach - 1200 - 1500 HUF Vonyarcvashegyi Lidó Beach - 1200 - 1500 HUF Balatongyöröki Beach - 1200 - 1500 HUF Balatonberényi Beach - HUF 1,200 Keszthely Dog Beach - HUF 700 / person and HUF 500 / group Balatonberényi Naturist Beach - HUF 1,300 Experience spa prices in June 2023! You can usually buy several types of tickets to the adventure spas, in this case we start from the experience of going to the beach, so we compare the daily ticket price. The ticket in which you can use the outdoor pools and beach area without restriction, but does not include the surcharge for the therapeutic pools or the wellness department. Of course, these spas also have discounts for children and pensioners, as well as family tickets and discounted admission before closing. Hévíz Tófürdő day ticket for adults - HUF 7,500 Zalakaros Bath day ticket adult - HUF 6,500 Kehida Thermal Bath day ticket adult - HUF 5900 Zalaszentgróti Bath day ticket adult - HUF 3,700 Aquacity Zalaegerszeg day ticket adult - HUF 3200 Comparative prices compared to spa prices in other regions: Bükfürdő adult day ticket - HUF 6900 Sárvár Thermal Spa adult day ticket - HUF 7,200 Hajdúszoboszló Aqaupark day ticket - beach ticket HUF 4,500, aquaworld additional ticket HUF 5,300 Budapest Aquaworld daily ticket - 9700 HUF Gyulai Castle Spa day ticket - HUF 3,600 Hagymatikum day ticket - HUF 4900 Daily ticket prices for Siófok beaches - between HUF 1,400 and HUF 3,000 Daily ticket prices for Balatonfüredi Beach - between HUF 1900 and HUF 2500 Tihany Beach daily ticket - HUF 800 Foreign outlook: Loipersdorf Therme (Austria) - weekday ticket 41.5 Euro, weekend 46.5 Euro SonnenTherme Lutzmannsdorf (Austria) - daily ticket 35.9 Euro Moravske Toplice (Slovenia) - day ticket 19.9 Euro Thermal Park Dunaszerdahely (Slovakia) - daily ticket on weekdays 13 Euro, on weekends and public holidays 15 Euro
