tartalom: + 1 Treatment with water In the course of which the physical features of water are used. The effect of the therapy is greatly enhanced by the treatment with medicinal water. It mainly increases the healing of those who suffer from musculoskeletal diseases. Depending on the position of the body, the immersion into the indifferent-temperature water has many positive physiological effects, such as blood „dilution”, decreasing lung breathing capacity, loosening trunk muscles, movement is easier with reduced body weight due to buoyancy, and water resistance also works as muscle toner.
The hydrostatic pressure of the water plays an important role in hydrotherapeutic methods: it has an effect on veins, skin vessels, it reduces the volume of the chest and the abdominal, influences the mechanism of breathing, improves kidney function, and reduces the circumference of the inflamed joints. The temperature of water – hot or cold – results in further changes opposite to each other. Vasodilatation occurs in a hot bath, the blood pressure rises and the heart beat accelerates. In a cold-water bath the blood vessels constrict and as a consequence the blood pressure increases, the heart rhythm decreases and the coronary artery constricts. Hydrotherapeutic treatments, thus treatments carried out with water, include, in addition to the mud and weight bath treatments, which were listed at the basic elements of the Traditional Hévíz Therapy, the following methods: Carbonated bath treatment takes place in a special bath tub. The carbonated water is produced by using the medicinal water of Lake Hévíz. It means a treatment with carbon dioxide “absorbed” by the water, which is suitable for treating patients suffering from heart diseases, high blood pressure and cardiovascular disorders. As a result of the treatment the surface veins expand and blood circulation is restored to normal. It improves the oxygen supply of the cardiac muscle, normalises blood pressure; if applied as a series of treatments the impact is longer-lasting. Indications / counter-indications: Artery and venous circulation disorders High blood pressure, Micro-circulation skin disorders Vegetative nervous system disorders Osteoporosis, chronic locomotive disorders Rehabilitation after heart attack Coronary stenosis, post-treatment of heart surgeries Four-section galvanic bath is also called hydro galvanic bath. Also two-section galvanic bath is often applied. The treatment takes place in plastic tubs filled with medicinal water. Direct current is led to the bath tub. Galvanic bath is recommended for the treatment of the limbs, by the simultaneous application of medicinal water and galvanic current. It is successfully applied primarily for the residual symptoms of previous nerve pains and inflammations, and secondarily for wear (degenerative) disorders. If it is used as a descending treatment it also has a pain alleviative impact. Indications / counter-indications: Alleviation of pain affecting multiple joints and body regions: Rheumatoid arthritis, soft tissue rheumatism Limb joint inflammatory and degenerative diseases Neuritis Sudeck atrophia (circulation disorder after limb injuries with local osteoporosis) Aortic stenosis Contrast bath therapyThe difference between cold and warm water is used for therapeutic purposes. Alternating cold and hot water promotes better circulation to the extremities. Underwater jet massageDuring the underwater jet massage the patient is laid in a medical tub filled with Hévíz healing water, where the temperature of the special tub’s healing water and the mechanic impact of the water jet are jointly applied for the massage therapy. Besides the water jet massage impact also the positive effects of the healing water are enjoyed by patients. The therapy is for individual guests only, and it is tailored according to the complaints of the patient. The therapy is also called “tangentor”, which is a therapeutic treatment based on balneotherapy, hydrotherapy and the mechanic impact of the water jet. The treatment is carried out in a special tub, by using a water jet with adjustable jet power, which can target various parts of the body. The water with a temperature of 34-36ºC is supplied from a pipe and it is targeted manually to various parts of the body. The massage stimulates the blood and lymph circulation and by this also stimulates the metabolism, furthermore contributes to the detoxification of the body. Due to the impact on the lymph system it also boosts the immune system. The therapy releases stress and relaxes the muscles. The vibration of the water penetrates the connective tissue, thus helps the renewal of the skin and restoring its plasticity. It has also got an alleviative effect. Indications release muscular tension, locomotor disorders, after injuries and operations, rheological disorders, nervous system disorders. Hydroxeur bathHydroxeur treatment – or Jacuzzi – is used when due to some reason manual massage cannot be applied or we wish to achieve a different impact. In a special tub the artificially generated air bubbles cause turbulent flow, which massages the entire body surface. The water flow gives a nice sensation to the patient, increases blood circulation and has a stimulating effect through the skin. It has weaker, lighter massaging power than the underwater jet massage. There are no counter-indications for the hydroxeur bath; therefore it can be used without physician supervision. Duration of the treatment: approx. 10 to 20 minutes.

tartalom: + 1 The effectiveness of the Thermal lake of Hévíz is the combined effect of several healing factors: temperature of the water large amount and streaming gas-content hydrostatic pressure bathing in open air The most optimal is to bath when the water temperature is between 32-34 °C. This temperature is perceived by human skin as neither cold nor warm, blood vessels shall neither contract, nor expand by its effect, unlike in cold and warm water. This indifferent temperature of the medicinal lake of Hévíz allows that the bathers can stay there for longer periods, without losing or accumulating heat, and this was the chemical and biological traits of the water can exercise their effect for longer periods.
The huge amount of water, always in movement, results in several types of water streams in the lake. The medicinal water bursting up from the source spreads in radial directions in the half-cone shape lake bed, and the water that is cooled down on the surface, descends under the fresher, warmer water vertically, in a cylinder type stream. The water always in movement and the mud particles always in movement exercise higher friction resistance, higher ascensional power of the water bursting up from the deep floating is made easier, so staying in the water requires less physical force than in the case of stagnant water. The gases present in the lake water – sulphur-hydrogen, carbonic acid - exercise a physical and chemical effect. The mechanical effect of the gas bulls getting attached to the skin has a favourable impact on the functioning of the whole nervous system.  By penetrating through the skin, the gases also have a direct chemical effect, on the other hand, gases that evaporate from the water by mixing with the air above the water, get into the body through inhalation, through the lungs.  Sulphur discharged from the water and from the puddled mud exercise intensive biological effect on various life-functions. The hydrostatic pressure resulting from the weight of the bathing water has a significance, as due to the water depth, people bathe in the lake in a vertical body position, so water exercises higher pressure on the deeply immersed feet, than on the thorax that is situated higher. This is good for blood circulation, as the pressure of the water presses the body fluids from varicose veins and lymphatic vessels of the lower limbs, pushes them into the blood circulation and into the heart. Curious for the water content? Read it!

As a result, the direction and the intensity of the flow of the chi, that is a vital force, in the meridians will be restored to the normal and healthy channel. Acupuncture Human has around 360 main acupuncture points, and through these points, certain disorders of the body may be stopped by using acupuncture needles. The acupuncture is quite effective against pains and it also stimulates blood flow, stabilizes circulation, increases the body energy level and improves the general state of health. Anti-agingIt comprises treatments which help you remain fit and young, including stress relief, exercise therapy, beautician techniques, change of eating habits, vitalizing substances, brain training, change of lifestyle, and many others. AquarobicIt is gymnastics performed in water and accompanied with instructions and mostly with music, which is protective to joints but it is also featured of training and massage as it requires force against the water pressure. Aroma light-therapyIt is not the scent what is primarily used in aroma-therapy treatments but the volatile oil extracted out of plants. Volatile oils have certain components that get locally active within the body and perform only a secondary effect through smelling. With lighting during the light therapy colored light penetrates deep into the skin so that to stimulate the positive reactions of the cells to everyday complaints and mental disorders. AyurvedaThe Ayurveda is an ancient Indian system of medicine and philosophy at the same time, which aims at the individual instead of the treatment of disease or symptoms by consideration and comparison of the individual habitus, climate, the seasons of the year and parts of the day, lifestyle, diet and many other aspects. BalneotherapyThis is a kind of treatment with medicinal water or so-called thermal mineral water not classified as medicinal water yet. It comprises drinking cure with such waters, inhalation, mud treatment, carbonated baths, and medicinal baths. CaldariumThis is one of the facilities used in Roman baths, which means hot water bathroom. The caldarium, usually tiled or covered with marble, in which people usually stay for 30 to 40 minutes, poses less burden on human organism than a sauna due to the lower temperatures (40-50 °C) and the humidity of the air (70-100%). FangoMud pack from ground volcanic rock is applied to a certain part or the whole of the body. Fango is capable of holding heat for a long period, rich in minerals and free of organic substances. It has been used for the treatment of rheumatism for centuries, and it is also used for beautician purposes. JacuzziThe water-jets directed to the particular points of the body and the massage promotes full relaxation. Due to the intensified blood circulation your body will get more oxygen so you’ll feel fit. The pores of skin get larger and due to the intensified blood circulation, your skin will be purified from toxins. As a result, the skin will be firmer and more elastic. JoggingJogging combines all the benefits of walking; it conditions the heart, improves muscle tone and strength, relieves stress, and can help with a variety of health problems, such as osteoporosis, heart disease and arthritis. Chinese massageThe Chinese massage may be considered as a kind of acupuncture combined with stretching. The massage may consist of various parts. It may refer to the spine massage and the Chinese head massage aiming at the head and neck. During the massage, the acupuncture points are treated as well. The Chinese massage also includes the stretching of muscles or joints. Cleopatra-bath Cleopatra, the Egyptian Queen did her best to fight ageism; she tried to make her skin soft and healthy by having a bath with donkey milk in it. The beauty care products named after her suggest having a bath with a mixture of milk and vegetable oil. These products are based on the conditioning and nourishing effects that milk and vegetable oils have on the skin. Kneipp stepsYou tread cold water stepping on pebbles placed on the bottom of a tub while walking around. The legs are lifted out of the tub at every step so that the cold water and the warm air will provide the contrasting bath character. The pebbles gently massage the reflex zones of the soles initiating a certain regulatory process. LaconiumIt is a cool version of the Finnish sauna. The temperature may not exceed 55 C° and the degree of humidity is insignificant. It enhances congestion and supports the immune system. Lomi Lomi NuiThis traditional Polynesian massage is one of the most pampering therapies of the Hawaiian kahunas. The massage starts by rubbing the body with “ti” leaves, and the body is heated with hot stones. Then while the lomi-lomi masseur is dancing with traditional dance-steps, imitating the steps of a frigate bird, around the nearly naked body of the patient, lying on the massage bench, he is giving the treatment, which means soft smoothing and kneading motions of the pad of his/her forearm and palm. Finally, he/she completes the massage with a ritual ablution of the body. Lymphatic massageThis is a special kind of massage that makes lymph fluid drain away. The lymph flow may be stimulated along the lymph vessel by smoothing with gentle pressure, thus the tissues may be purified from the roughage. As a result, the skin becomes cleaner, better supplied with blood and firmer. This massage activates the immune system, promotes the recovery of the cells and tissues and reduces the susceptibility to inflammation. It is highly recommended as an additional treatment to detox cures. Qi-GongIt is a generic term to mean a wide range of heath-preserving practices. This ancient method combines the mental concentration, breathing technique and physical exercise so as to enhance and maintain your vital energy. The technique requires regular practice but it is easy to acquire for any age group depending on the fitness level of the individual. Paraffin treatmentAfter smearing your skin with thermo cream you should apply the heated paraffin, which will harden on your body. This will temporarily hinder the skin respiration promoting the absorption of the cream full of effective substances. The paraffin pack contains alga, which is a fat-dissolving agent with high iodine content. It makes skin spectacularly firm, smooth and velvety. ShiatsuShiatsu is based on the ancient Japanese medicine and philosophy, but it has also been affected by the modern western medicine. It is suitable for preventing diseases, locomotor and mental disorders or just for a pleasant sensual and spiritual journey in the universe of your inner self. According to the Taoist philosophy the energy – prana, qi or chi – flows continuously both in the universe and in human body. The therapist treats the patients on the acupuncture spots along the meridian lines because these spots provide access to the various organs. Step-AerobicStepping on and off a platform may enhance the development of the balance between the energy level of the sigh tensors and flexors. Such balance plays an important role in the prevention of certain sports injuries. In well-organized step training the choreography and the step combinations match the rhythm of the music used for the training. StretchingIt means a set of stretching and relaxing exercises. Painless muscle system of good tone is required for coordinated injury-free motion. While being used, muscles perform repeating motions of a small extent, that’s why they tend to grow stiff soon. These exercises help you loosen your stiff muscles of poor tone. Sole massageIt has been used in Asia for five thousand years and nowadays we can see its revival. It protects and improves your physical and mental health without any side-effects within a short period if time. It helps you prevent diseases and stimulates the self-healing mechanism of the organism. Massaging the sole opens a way to affect the central nervous system, circulation and internal organs as it is extremely rich in nerve endings. In the reflex zones related to the particular organs, crystalline lumps of various sizes may be felt which could often be sensitive or even painful. The aim is to rub off these deposits and detoxify the body, improve blood circulation and stimulate the self-healing capacity. Thai massageAn Indian medical man was the first to use this technique in Thailand 2500 years ago. In the course of time it changed but it has preserved its bases up to this day. The massage is carried out with hand, elbow, sole or knee along the so called meridian lines connecting the acupuncture spots. You can enjoy this massage wearing a comfortable cotton T-shirt and cotton trousers. It has a relaxing effect, reduces tension and pain and affects muscles, interstitial tissues, joints, the autonomic nervous system, organs, blood circulation as well as the lines and spots harmonizing energy. Thalasso therapySince the mid-19th century the thelasso therapy - -derives from the Greek word "Thalassa" = sea – has combines the holistic and the wellness experiences for the body and soul. A French doctor called La Bounnadiére was the first to use the designation in 1867, and since then it has been associated with soothing and regenerating effects of the therapy applying sea water, seaweed and sea climate. YumeihoYumeiho is a kind of massage originated from Japan. It was created by Sajoni Masayuki, who used the elements of martial arts of Chinese Buddhist monasteries. The masseur kneads the body thoroughly, stretches the joints and loosens the blocks to make motion and energy flow free. The treatment combines the techniques of acupressure and the manual therapy with eastern physical exercises.

tartalom: + 1   Tomb of the Roman soldier The tomb of the Roman soldier, or the late Roman brick-tomb is located in the Egregy part of Heviz. The tomb was made out of bricks with quicklime. It has been discovered in 1925 when doing earthworks and it was fully intact. The objects found in the tomb were from the era of the Roman imperator Constantinus II. Bronze belt decoration, cloth clamps, knife made of iron, coins of the imperator and of course the skeleton of a Roman soldier were found. The findings were placed in the Balaton Museum located in Keszthely, and the skeleton was left on its place. In 1931 the ruins of a Roman cottage of the early Augustan age were discovered a few hundred meters to the East of the tomb, in the neighbourhood of the Villa Rustica excavated between 2001 and 2004. The house was built at the end of the 1st century. The findigs suggest that the building must have been richly decorated and it was still in use in the 4th century. When digging in the backyard of one of the houses of Egregyi Street a brick burning kiln was found. The items discovered in the neighbouring area testify that man of means have been staying here long time ago. For example on the way to the church to the Arpadian age there was a clay pot found, and there were 276 pieces of Roman coins from the 4th century in it. Look around in our 3D tour! Roman ruin garden Even the ancient Romans discovered and used the lake of Hévíz. This is shown by the roman ruin garden located at the end of Attila Street, which was completely renovated in 2011. The remains of the roman villa from the early Imperial times were discovered in 1931 and then the building of Villa Rustica was excavated between 2001 and 2003 in its vicinity. The house was built at the end of the 1st century. According to the findings it must have been a richly decorated building and it was used even in the 4th century. At the turn of the 1st and 2nd centuries a large stone building was erected in its place which was 45 meters long and almost 23 meters wide, therefore more than 1000 square meters. The building had a porticus (columned porch) on the eastern side and some pools with warm, lukewarm and cold water. But it is not certain whether the building was the residential building (villa urbana) of the villa-farm, since there was no evidence of central heating. The building is believed to have been ruined towards the end of the 2nd century, but in the 3rd century it was rebuilt with other interior design. Even a Mithras shrine was built in. The foundation stone of the altar was discovered during the excavation. The shrine and the building were destroyed in the 4th century, but soon it was rebuilt. At the beginning of the 5th century it was ruined completely. The function of the building is uncertain also in this period. Probably it was used for some kind of economic activity. Look around in our 3D tour! Flavius wish ribbons at the ruins of Villa Rustica Hundreds of wishes written on ribbons make the Roman ruin garden, located at the Museum of Egregy at the end of Attila Street, decorated. Placing colourful ribbons revive a Roman legend.    The most well-known Hévíz legend about the formation of the lake and its miraculous effect is linked to the Roman Emperor Flavius Theodosius. According to the legend, Flavius suffered from infantile paralysis. Every day, his Christian nurse prayed to Virgin Mary asking for the boy’s recovery. Virgin Mary answered her prayers and brought forth water. A whole lake was formed from the thermal spring. The nurse bathed the ill child in the water of the lake regularly. Miraculously, Flavius got over his illness by the help of the water and became a strong, healthy ruler, the emperor of the Roman Empire. Out of gratitude, he declared Christianity the official religion throughout the realm in 391. The legendary curative lake is none other than Lake Hévíz, in the water of which thousands of patients have been healed and have regained the pleasure of healthy movement since then.   Local collections In Hévíz you can find recreation facilities not only for your body but for your mental condition as well. In the course of a nice afternoon walk it is worth visiting the Hévíz Museum Collection, which can find above the Fontana Cinema in the walking street. The permanent exhibition allows visitors to get insight into the 210-year past of Hévíz in the room of the local history. Visitors can also see the memorial room named after dr. Károly Moll, which was set up in commemoration of the famous doctors from Hévíz. In the Museum there are also some temporary exhibitions to be visited apart from the permanent one. The Museum’s permanent exhibitions are “History of Hévíz”, “Memories from Hévíz Spa”, ”Medical History Memorial Room for Senior dr. Károly Moll” and “Exhibitions of artist József Simon”. The outside front of the building is decorated with the work named “Spring” by Munkácsy Prize awarded ceramic artist János Németh. The Museum is open for visitors between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. from Tuesday to Saturday. There are no admission fees. If you come to Héviz for a fairly long time and you also consider cultural programs important during a medicinal cure, the Zsigmond Móricz Town Library might be interesting for you; you can borrow books both in Hungarian and foreign languages there. Beside the Museum you can also find temporary exhibitions on several other spots of the town, for instance, in the Gallery of the Fine Arts of the Aquamarine Hotel there are exhibitions regularly, where tourists can meet artists in person at the opening of the exhibitions or in the Show Room of the Magyar Csárda Restaurant being in service for more than 15 years, and major hotels also organize exhibitions of fine arts on temporary basis. The exhibitions may be visited free of charge. And once the Fontana Motion Picture Theatre has been mentioned, we recommend the cinema as an entertaining evening program for young visitors. Having a cinema is quite unusual in the area, as there is no cinema even in Keszthely. The cinema has a seating capacity of 104 persons. Recently new digital technology equipment has been installed; as a result, both the video and the sound technique meet the most modern requirements. However, we should warn visitors not to expect the standard of multiplex cinemas but they should imagine a nice cinema typical of small towns. Have fun and enjoy mental recreation. tartalom: + 1 800-Year-Old Church The Egregy part of the town called Hévíz used to be a medieval village, which has been destroyed during the Turkish occupation and has been rebuilt by German settlers in the 17th century. The traditions of vine-growing are preserved by the local oenologists and inns. One of the pearls of the town, the ancient monument church built in the 13th century is located in the Egregy part of the town. The church is surrounded by a graveyard. From the top of the hills there is a wonderful view to see. The exact date of the construction of the church is unknown; presumably it was built in the middle of the 13th century. Written records mention it for the first time in 1341. The building was heavily damaged during the 16-17th century, in the baroque times it has been renovated in 1731. Luckily only the parts that absolutely needed action were involved in the renovation, therefore, the medieval form of the church remained. The results of this renovation included the internal and the external decorative paintings, heightening of the nef, and the missing arches have been replaced, too. The first patron of the church was St. Catherine of Alexandria. After the renovation the church has been consecrated again, and the new saint patron was St. Magdalena. Then the church has been subject to renovations repeatedly: in 1860, in 1912, between 1964 and 1965, in 1990, 1991 and in 2015. There is an opened baroque door on the southern side. The arching of the tower has been renewed in the 18th century, and the quadrangular nef adjoins it. The only decorative element adding space to the interior of the church is the row of chambers in the northern wall. It is important to pay attention to the paintings on the wall of the church. These are not of medieval origin, but are the clear evidence of the architectural enrichment of the church. It reflects the due respect of the folk art treasure forms. Inside the building there are the fragments of a baptising pool from the Roman age, and a consecrated cross from the medieval age. The church of Egregy is one of the three churches from the Arpadian age left entire in the area of Lake Balaton. The structure and the space of the orientated church are clear-cut, it has a straight sanctuary and a single nef. The tower has three floors of rich formation, with double and triple windows. The tower is covered by an octagonal helmet-shaped roof reinforced by eight quarter-timbers. The foundations preserved the forms used for building from wood. The painted decorations and the scratched forms remained on the external surfaces. Look around in our 3D tour! Holy Spirit Catholic Church The Holy Spirit Catholic Church is the largest church of Hévíz. Its seating capacity is about 1000. The foundation stone of the church was laid by Jozsef Szendi then bishop in May 1996.Its GPS co-ordinates are the following: N 46° 47' 21.85", E 17° 11' 06.04"The church was built based on the plans of Janos Bocskai architect. Due to the support of the town and the population it has been completed in three years. The seven sky-high towers serve as a guide for the visitors of the town. The seven towers are the symbols of the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit. On September 9th, 1999 it has been consecrated together with the Town Hall by Jozsef Szendi retired bishop. The interior of the church is alloying modern architecture and tradition enhanced mainly by the nice wooden panels. Its excellent acoustics makes it a suitable scene for giving organ concerts, too. The colourful windows with their Gothic-like forms are the hand-made products of Endre Simon artist from Heviz. The torso cross on the wall of the sanctuary is a 200 years old art treasure that has been granted to the church and has been restored by Gyula Karolyi restorer and painter. The bronze statue of Christ on the left side of the altar was created by Laszlo Marton. He is also the composer of the bronze statue called the Dowager of the Hungarians standing on the right side and wearing the Hungarian Crown. The lustre glaze pictures on the walls were made by Laszlo Morvay. The wooden structure was built by Tibor Kováts and the wooden works of the interior were produced by Andras Hegedus. There are four bells in the towers. In the garden of the church and in its neighbourhood there are several statues and reliefs. Due to static reasons there was no bell placed in the highest tower. In the tower on the left there are two bells ringing, one of those have been founded by Dr. Bela Horvath and his family to pay homage to Saint Peter, the another was moved here from the old church. One of the bells in the right tower have been founded to do homage to Saint Paul and the costs were covered by the widow of Imre Varga, its another bell is again from the old church. Look around in our 3D tour! Calvinist church The Calvinist church was constructed between 1995 and 1998 based on the 1941 plans of Balint Szeghalmy architect from Nagyvarad. The marble decorations of the building are evocating of the Hungarian Calvinist churches of Transylvania. When creating the interior the Calvinist traditions were followed and it has remarkable woodworks. The church is used both by the Calvinist and the Lutheran denominations for servicing and meetings. Indeed only the minority of the population of the town is Calvinist or evangelical, but every year there are thousands of visitors belonging to these churches arrive here from Hungary and from abroad. The Calvinist from Heviz used to have no church, their meetings were held in houses and in the Community Centre of the Spa-Hospital. The evangelists used the small room of the movie theatre, then the lobby of Hotel Alba and the Community Centre of the hospital. In 1994 the city council made a donation of this piece of land to the denominations. It was again the local government supporting the construction, then a funding was started in order to cover the remaining costs of the works started in 1995. The foundation stone of the Calvinist church was laid on June 21st, 1997. The finished church building was consecrated by Dr. Bela Harmati evangelist bishop and Dr. Mihaly Markus Calvinist bishop. Karoly Borsos and his family made the donation of the bell located under the opened arch of the tower to the church. Look around in our 3D tour! Heart of Jesus church The Heart of Jesus church is located in the Egregy part of the town. It consists of two parts constructed in different ages. Close to the church there are building ruins left from the Roman age, the excavation was brought to a close in 2004.Its GPS co-ordinates are the following: N 46° 48' 07.28" , E 17° 11' 20,94” The church was built based on the plans of Janos Bocskai architect. The belfry was built at the beginning of the 20th century, while the nef was completed in 1994-1995. The belfry built in 1905 had two floors, but in 1937 a third floor was added. The tower built in Roman style has twin windows and includes a small and a large bell. The small bell has been founded to do homage to Maria Magdalena in 1905. In 1937 the large bell was founded upon the order of Egregy village to do homage to those who died in the King’s service. To pay homage to those 16 people lost in World War I there is a table made of stone in the middle of the cope and the names are listed on this. In commemoration of them again there were 16 trees planted, together with grave-markers having each name, date of birth and birth of death carved into those. There are only 6 trees alive as of today. To pay homage also to those who died in World War II there was a memorial tablet placed into the wall of the belfry, including the names of the young people from Egregy who died. Later the tablet has been moved to the graveyard. In 1994 the construction of the church nef started in accordance with the plans of Janos Bocskai. Then it has been consecrated by Dr. Gaspar Ladocsi major-general, chaplain general to the forces on April 22nd, 1995. The church is also called Fradi church, due the significant support provided by Sport Club of Ferencvaros (Fradi) for the construction. The white and green colours of the interior and the small memorial corner reflect the ties with the club. Look around in our 3D tour!

Methods included in the following physiotherapeutic treatment group are used mostly in Hévíz: electrotherapy magnetic therapy mechanotherapy treatments light therapy Electrotherapy Electrotherapy, balneotherapy and mechanotherapy are part of physiotherapy treatments. Electrotherapy is used in various forms during Hévíz treatments. Therapies may mitigate pain, stimulate blood circulation and generate deep tissue congestion depending on the therapy type. „Low frequency” treatment types are ultrasound, magnetic ring, diadynamic, ionomodulator, sonopuls, stymat, sonodynator, dionin, endomed treatments or cryotherapy, wich is based on the circulation of cold air „High frequency” treatment types: decimetre wave, microwave and short wave. Treatments use the heat effect of electricity for generating tissue congestion. Indications: improves blood circulation, alleviator of pain. Types of treatments During iontotherapy the ions of a medicine prescribed by physician are introduced to the body via the skin with the help of local galvanic current. It may be local and general: relieving muscle- and traumatic pains and arthritis. It is beneficial for migraine and aortic stenosis; it also speeds up the absorption of hematoma and softens up scarring. Diadynamic current therapy is a special electrotherapy, which has an alleviative and circulation boosting effect. Indications: analgesic treatment, vein innervations disorders, twitches, bruises, oedema, nervous pain, joint and spine wear, disc related disorders, muscle wasting. Myotest means electrical treatment of the nerves, by generating muscle contractions. Indications: treatment and prevention of muscular wasting. Interference therapyDue to the different power frequencies conducted into muscles next to the spine the muscle knots caused by posture disorders decrease because of the internal pulsing massage generated by the electric power. Ultrasound therapyTissue micro massage, which is created by mechanical vibrations. It is suitable for healing every musculoskeletal disease. Magnetic therapy Magnetic ring, also known as pulsatron. It is based on the biological effects of the magnetic field’s rhythmic changes. It can be used after a stroke, in case of stiffness, muscle weakness, neuralgia, post-treatments of injuries and in some medical cases. Light therapy Sollux, laser, evolite...all are using the special physical attribution of the light to heal different diseases.  Laser (light laser) is mostly used to cure movement diseases. It decreases pain, sore, muscle tension, edem, and stimulates the immune system, and accelerates wound healing Mechanotherapy treatments It is an independent cure, but it is also an important part of the complex therapy. These are therapeutic forms based on the following types of treatments Passive: massage >>> Active: physical and therapeutic exercise >>> Did you know that, although electricity hadn’t been known yet, the Romans used the electrotherapy? electricity generating fishes were placed next to paralyzed children in the pool in order to stimulate their muscles?

tartalom: + 1 The parts of the Hévíz Bath nowadays Entrance of the Lake with the cherub statues on the dr. Schulhof Vilmos Promenade. Central Building with 4 indoor pools and rooms and terraces for relaxing. Easily accessible from the direction of Festetics Spa on a floating corridor which was built on the Lake on poles. Festetics Spa, the southern entrance of the Lake which is accessible from Ady E. street. This is the newest building of the Lake where the wellness services are available. Mud pools which are located in the Lake just between the Central Building and Festetics Spa. The entrance from Deák Square also known as the Summer Entrance because it is only open seasonally. The summer dressing room, which stands on the eastern shore of the Lake. It is a building made of wood which is located next to the sunbathing terraces. The „Medve” sunbathing terrace is a separated sunbathing terrace on the southern east part of the Lake.   Dr. Schulhof Vilmos Promenade The Promenade is part of the park, located around the thermal lake. The Dr. Schulhof Vilmos Promenade is starting from the “Indoor bath” („télifürdő”) building, located at the end of the pedestrian zone and it leads to the main entrance of the thermal lake. Hévíz Lake is situated on one side of the Promenade, which is shaded by sycamore trees and bordered by benches, while on the other side we can find the historical buildings of Szent András Reumakórház (Saint Andrew’s Hospital for Rheumatic Diseases). These buildings were built in the 1870s and they were transformed into the current two-storey structures in the beginning of the 1900s. Each house got its own history.
The Art Nouveau style building is located at the northern part of the „Újtelep”, an area established by the Festetics Family. It was named after György Festetics, founder of the town of spas. Currently the György House is accommodating the “A” Building of Szent András Reumakórház (Saint Andrew Rheumatologic Hospital).
It was named after Ferenc Rákóczi the Second, as the building was built in 1863 and the ashes of Ferenc Rákóczi were brought back from Turkey to Hungary in the same year. Currently the Rákóczi House is accommodating the “B” Building of Szent András Reumakórház (Saint Andrew Rheumatologic Hospital).
The building was named after Ella Karola, who was the daughter of Tasziló Festetics. Currently it is accommodating the “C” building of Szent András Reumakórház (Saint Andrew Rheumatologic Hospital).
If we carry on towards south, the next building is a restaurant and assembly hall. The border of the Festetics Estate stretched to this building; this was the first house built from stone. It was built at the end of the 1860s for accommodating guests of the thermal bath. An additional storey was added to the building in 1909, and it became a “Cure Saloon” („Kúrszalon”), which at the time was necessary at bathing resorts. Currently the assembly hall of Szent András Reumakórház (Saint Andrew Rheumatologic Hospital) can be found here.
Francis Joseph – the King of Hungary and Austrian Emperor- made Festetics (II.) Tasziló into prince in the year of the building’s handover, who was the builder of the building. Therefore the choice of name for the building. Currently the Francis Joseph House is accommodating the “D” Building of Szent András Reumakórház (Saint Andrew Rheumatologic Hospital).
The building was built based on the plans of Ferenc Lonkay, the manorial architect of the Festetics Family in 1870-71. The house was part of the “Újtelep”, where the houses were serial numbered. Therefore the choice of name for the building. Currently a hotel is operated in the building under the management of Hévíz Medicinal Spa and Saint Andrew Hospital for Rheumatic Diseases.
The original name of the building was Tasziló villa, but after the death of Prince Festetics (II.) Tasziló it was renamed to Deák House after Ferenc Deák.
The history of the Hévíz Bath Spa Hévíz between 1795 and 1905 The first rectangular bathhouse, consisting of two buildings, was built in 1795 by the landowner Count I. Festetics György. The news on the benefits of the medicinal water reached Vienna in 1801, and the presence of the white water lilies in the lake was already mentioned in a memoir in 1818. Additional Indian species were planted to these water lilies in 1898.  In 1858, afforestation around the lake, modernisation of the spa buildings and development of the lakeside buildings for guests started. In the centre of the lake, the male and female mirror baths (baths surrounded with cabins) were located, but many people still used the sluice of Hévíz, which was wider that time, for swimming. Spa Hévíz in the 1910s and 1920s From 1905, leaseholder Reichl Vencel did his best to develop Hévíz into an international spa town.  The former bathhouse was replaced by a domed building, and it is also due to him that a number of modern accommodation and restaurants, and the „Cure Salon”, essential to the health resort, were built. In 1907, on the site of the old built bridge, a roofed bridge was erected and the characteristic two-towered main entrance was completed. In the same year, the Sanatorium and Spa Hotel of Hévíz was built. In 1911, the town received the „spa resort-like settlement” title. Spa Hévíz in the 1930s After 1926 development started up again. The characteristic lakeside bathhouse was built, as well as the main building received a glass roof in 1932 and thus it became completely covered. In 1930, there was already 7 hotels, 11 restaurants and 40 villas in the village. Varied cultural life awaited the almost 16 thousand guests who came her annually.  In these years of happy peace time Dr Schulhof Vilmos was the chief physician in Hévíz. He did a lot through his work to popularise the therapeutics of Hévíz. Today, the promenade beside the lake is named after him. Buildings of Hévíz before 1945 Contemporaneously with the completion of the first bathhouse (1795), the „cupping house” used for healing (venesection=scarification) was erected. Whereas the surrounding area of the lake was merely a reedy, marshy area in the first half of the 19th century, from the 1850s a beautiful choice of hotel buildings was built on purpose. In 1870, the Houses I to VII, out of which the House No. Seven was the only two-story building,  were already completed. A Roman Catholic chapel was also built (it was demolished later), then in the beginning of the 1900s the hotels, bazaar buildings, as well as the „Cure Salon”, where balls and concerts were held,  were finished.  Spa Hévíz in the 1950s and 1960s In 1948, the thermal lake and all related buildings and parks, which were owned by the Festetics Family up to that time, were nationalised and the period of state-subsidised holidays began. In 1952, the National Spa Hospital of Hévíz was established and later this year Hévíz was declared a health resort of national importance. By 1968, the country's most modern spa building fully equipped with balneo-therapeutic medical devices. Dr Moll Károly, the internationally renowned rheumatologist physician, who invented the weight bath, started his work during this period.   Spa Hévíz in the 1970s and 1980s In the 1970s tourism increased to such an extent – thanks to the western guests too – that the building of additional quality hotels and the rebuilding of the thermal lake buildings were needed. The former domed buildings were replaced by larch-covered, towered buildings from 1977 continuously. The total renovation was completed by 1985, but the visitors could not enjoy the new facility for a long time since it was completely destroyed as a result of a fire on 3rd March 1986. Finally, the new buildings were finished in 1989. Traditional Hévíz Therapy People could read about the beneficial effects of Hévíz medicinal water in 1780 for the first time. Initially, in addition to bathing, only bloodletting was applied as a therapy, the sanatorium was built in 1907 in the village.  The first famous doctor of the village was Schulhof Vilmos, who already used electrotherapy and x-rays, in addition to bathing, in the musculoskeletal rehabilitation. From the 1950s the work of Dr Moll Károly put new life into the Hévíz therapy, the country's most modernly equipped balneo-therapeutic bathhouse was completed in the village in 1968.  Since then, services have increased with a wide spectrum of treatments, but the basis of the Traditional Hévíz Therapy is still the following: bathing in medicinal water, medicinal mud wrap or mud bath and weight bath by Moll Károly. These can be individually supplemented by drinking cure, medicinal massage, movement-, physio- or hydrotherapy.    Kind memories of Hévíz During the last 220 years, the spa resort attracted a number of visitors, who could be celebrities or less famous people, or in exceptional cases even animals, who became famous. Whereas it was quite natural that animals were driven into the water in the 1800s, in 1914, it caused a great sensation when Nelly, the sore-legged elephant was moved to Hévíz. Bathing in muddy medicinal water twice a day was prescribed to the former circus elephant and she performed it with great enthusiasm. The 3-year-old elephant was so popular that she became an extra tourist attraction to the town and the visitors surprised her with basketful of goodies, such as fresh cherries, every day.

tartalom: + 1 Everything about the massage Besides bath therapy, the specialist doctors of Hévíz recommend different healing massage as the main elements of traditional therapy treatments for the guests. The healing massage is not a pampering wellness massage. Its healing effects are much more significant than the relaxation feeling provided by an ordinary wellness massage. Generally, a short, 10-15 minute bath in the thermal water before the massage is beneficial as in this way the soft tissues are relaxed, thus making the massage more efficient, after which the patients feel much better.
Healing massage include Swedish, reflex-zone (segment, connective tissues, periostealis), lymphatic, sport and refreshing massage.   The classical Swedish massage extends to the whole area of the body, and aims to massage the muscles, tendons and joints. It improves the operation of locomotive functions, and relaxes exhausted and painful muscles. Foot reflex zone massage stimulates reflex points. These points are connected through nervous paths to the reflex centre of the central nervous system. Furthermore, the massage services also include lymph massage, sport and refreshing massage. Do you know? Underwater massage or “tangentor” is a special type of massage. The massage is performed by the intensive water stream, which during the initial period may also be painful. During the “tangentor” treatment, the guests lie in a physiotherapy tank. The intensity of the water stream is applied on the body through a thick tube by the assistant. The vibration of water impregnates the connective tissues, thus enhancing the renewal and flexibility of the skin. You would better just relax? You can choose in Hévíz from a wide range of wellness massages, and relaxation treatments. Curious? Click here to get more information about them! Pedestrian Zone The entire length of Rákóczi Street is a pedestrian zone. This street connects Széchenyi Street (which is the main street) with Dr. Schulhof Vilmos Promenade. The Tourinform Office is located at the beginning of Rákóczi Street. If you are coming from Széchenyi Street you will find the Office is on your right. The tourist information office is open all year round and offers programs in the area and tourist information for the visitors. The office also provides internet facilities and bicycle rental services. If you carry on down Rákóczi Street towards the thermal bath it is worth looking at the buildings hiding behind the trees among boutiques, cafeterias and ice cream parlours. The pedestrian zone is bordered by villas built in the 1920s, which are nowadays - after significant restoration works-  accommodate apartments and cafeterias. Fontana Motion Picture Theatre (Fontana Filmszínház) is located half way down Rákóczi Street and opposite the id. Dr. Moll Károly Square with a fountain and the full size bronze statue of Károly Moll. Károly Moll is the „father” of weight bath, which he developed in Hévíz in the 1950s. The building of the Indoor bath is situated at the end of the street. The Therapeutic Centre (Terápiás Centrum) was handed over in 1968, which is nick-named by the locals as the winter bath. It was reconstructed in 2004 and there are plans to extend and further develop the building in the near future. We can view the Pantheon on the external wall of the building, and in the foyer the Jupiter stone is exhibited, which proves that people were living in this area already 2000 years ago. Look around in our 3D tour! Building of the City-hall The new building of the city-hall is located at the Kossuth Lajos street, it was constructed between 1998 and 1999 on the place of the former town-house. It was inaugurated on September 9th, 1999. The building is one of the important eyemarks of Heviz; it was built in 1950, and in 1997 the renovation was started behind the former town-hall. On January 31st, 1998 Bertalan Farkas, the first astronaut of Hungary and the mayor laid the foundation stone. The plans were prepared by Laszlo Benczur and Peter Takacs, under the co-ordination of Peter Reinholz Kossuth Prize-winning architect. The Building-trade Company of Zala county was implementing it. The useful floor-space of the building is 3367 m2. The office of the local government is located in the building, its employees receive the clients every working day. The southern side wing includes a conference and theatre hall for 200 persons, this facility serves not only the meetings of the city, but all other scientific and cultural events. Look around in our 3D tour! Art Cinema The official name of Hévíz Art Cinema is Fontana Filmszínház (Fontana Motion Picture Theatre). The Motion Picture Theatre has a projection room for 130 people, which was renovated in 2015. Recently new digital technology equipment has been installed ensuring up-to-date video and sound quality. Cafeterias The buildings located next to the main car park in Széchenyi Street are called „the row of cafeterias”.If you approach Hévíz from the direction of Lake Balaton, turn right at the first crossing to Széchenyi Street, and after passing the forest belt you can already see the cafeterias. If you fancy a tasty “lángos” (fried dough) or a grilled sausage, here you can find what you are looking for from the wide choice of delicacies offered by the best buffets. If you prefer a traditional dinner or lunch, don’t hesitate to treat yourself in one of the many restaurants of town. You can purchase Hévíz gifts and the must have swimming aid during your holiday at the gift shops located in between the cafeterias. Life music and entertainment programmes are also offered to the tourists in the evenings. Look around in our 3D tour! Egregy Wine Cellars The Egregy part of Hévíz town is famous for its gastronomic delicacies. From downtown you can access the wine cellars in 25 minutes on foot. On your way you will pass Jesus’ Heart Church (Jézus szíve templom) at the end of Zrínyi Street or you can visit the Roman excavation site at the end of Attila Street. In the evenings the wine cellars and restaurants built in between the rows of vines are magnets for the guests of the town. This is a great place for the guests - exhausted after bathing – to charge up with a nice dinner or enjoy a wine tasting event while listening to live music. Restaurants offer not only traditional Hungarian specialties, but also international dishes on their open air terraces or in the cosy wine cellars. If you carry on down Dombföldi Street among the wine cellars, you can reach the Arpadian Age Church, which is one the most beautiful built cultural heritage of Hévíz. Look around in our 3D tour! Cherubs The main entrance of the lake is guarded by two cherubs, which were made on behalf of the Festetics family at the turn of the 19th and 20th century and they are very similar to the Zsolnay family’s cherubs in Pécs. The dragon made of a lion and an eagle can also be found on Hévíz’s official coat of arms. The cherubs served the gods in the mythology of the ancient Semite folks. They stood in front of the gates and kept away the demons. Their images were engraved in the stones of kings’ palace gates or church gates, most likely that is why the Festetics family had them made as well.  According to the legend, if someone walks through between two cherubs without love in the heart, the cherubs start speaking. According to another storyteller not the cherubs but the copper rooster placed on one of the towers of the baths starts speaking, if someone leaves the town without love. But there has never been a precedent for this.    There are several artworks in the public places of the town; you can see a statue or sculpture nearly in every street, most of them were created by the famous sculptor, László Marton. In the park of the Lake Spa, known as Hévíz Statue Park, there is a group of statues including the busts of three outstanding figures of Hungarian literature: bust of Zsigmond Móricz (created by László Kutas), Mihály Csokonai Vitéz ( by József Rátonyi) and Dániel Berzsenyi (by Tibor Riger). You can see 13 memorial tablets placed on the wall of the Winter Spa to commemorate the most famous visitors of the Spa.

tartalom: + 1 The story of bath Hévíz As historical remembrance proves it, Hévíz was already known in the Roman era. The water was used for everyday activities, namely for the processing of animal skin (softening it with a piece of rod). The healing and miraculous effects of Lake Hévíz were chanted in a legend at that time. The bathing culture of Hévíz and the evolution of the unique medicinal therapies are linked with the name of Count György Festetics, who started bathing constructions on the lake from the year 1795. He established a bathing site beside the lake, which were most popular especially with the local peasantry. The bath and the thermal water later became famous, and people from more distant places visited Hévíz wishing to be cured. More than 200 years later (at the turn of the century), the leasehold rights were seized by the brewery owner Vencel Reischl of Keszthely, who continued the developments. As a result, Hévíz has become a well-known thermal bath throughout Hungary by today. The development of Hévíz was continuous throughout the centuries and it is still going on even today. However, Hévíz was not only known for the healing power of its thermal water, but notable medical doctors of the town further enhanced its fame too. Dr Károly Moll, inventor of the weight bath became famous all around the world. Recent improvements of the bath aimed to increase the quality of the services offered to the patients. During the reconstruction of the thermal lake, the main buildings were renovated, and the function of the buildings was also modified. The changing rooms were removed from the winterized building in the middle of the lake to the entrance in the southern and western part of the complex, thus rendering the construction of a 2,500 square metre bath house in the middle of the lake possible. The most significant attraction of Hévíz is the unique medicinal lake and its healing power. Today however, modernization and the extension of the available services to attract the age group 35-50 cannot be neglected either. During the latest reconstruction of the thermal lake new buildings were constructed on the lakeside, housing pleasure pools, a sauna block, massage clinic, various examination rooms, changing rooms, catering units and even a conference room. Later, the new building was also renovated, which now provides services equivalent to those of a 4-star hotel: in the 3-floor departure building there is a wellness department (sauna, steam bath, ice bath, salt cave, pools), modern guest rooms and a therapy department (hydrotherapy, massage, beauty salons, mud treatment rooms, body culture therapy) waiting for the visitors. A sauna and modern massage rooms were built as part of the reconstruction, and the capacity of the changing rooms and that of the resting area were also extended. Besides the constructions, the park around the thermal lake developed as well where 30 special ornamental trees were planted thanks to a successful tender procedure.Owing to the recent developments, Hévíz can not only preserve but also strengthen its position as one of the most popular centres of national and international thermal water tourism. Thanks to the realized development projects, Hévíz grows more modern, and becomes able to satisfy the divers needs of its frequent visitors and those of the growing number of younger guests with children as well. Look around in our 3D tour! Did you know that people lived around the town even in the Neolithic period, 7500 years ago? "Da Bibere" the Latin inscription on a cup from the first century before Christ found among the archaeological finds means ‘Give me a drink!’? also two Roman altar-stone dedicated to Jupiter were unearthed north of the Lake? castle servants lived around the Lake of Hévíz in the Árpád-age, from the 11th to the 14th century? the name of Hévíz first appeared in a charter dated 28th March 1328?

Lake Hévíz is the world’s largest biologically-active natural thermal lake, which is able to refresh body and soul alike. The source of the 4.4 ha water surface lake, rich in sulphur, and minerals can be found 38 metres deep in the cave, which due to its high well capacity completely changes in every 72 hours. The water of Lake Hévíz contains an equal proportion of dissolved and gaseous substances, thus unifying the favourable characteristics of thermal waters rich in carbonic acid, sulphur, calcium, magnesium, hydrogen carbonate. Lake Echo of New Zealand is larger and its water is warmer, but it cannot be compared to the particularities of the Hungarian lake as it is not suitable for bathing and cannot be used for medical purposes. The history of Hévíz Lake The origins of Lake Hévíz go back to the ancient times when Lake Balaton and the basalt mountains around the lake were formulated. At the end of the Pannon-era volcanoes disrupted the layout of the Trans-Danube region. The healing power of the water was already known to our ancestors. The first signs of post-volcanic activity were the spring of heat sources, as was the eruption of “Ancient Hévíz”. Archaeological excavations prove that this area was inhabited even at the end of the Stone Age. The art relic church on Egregy hill was built during the reign of the Árpád-dynasty, which uniquely preserved the reminiscence of the era. Legends are connected with miracles; nevertheless, Hévíz is a miracle in itself. According to an ancient legend on the origin and healing effect of the lake, the Holy Virgin wrung a spring by the appealing prayer of a Christian nurse. The nurse wanted to heal an invalid child. The hot water of the lake breaking out from the depth and the steaming mud completely cured the weak child. The legend stems from the Roman age and the mentioned child was definitely the East Roman emperor, Flavius Theodosius, who declared Christianity the official religion in his own empire in 391. The spring has been feeding the world-wide unique Lake of Hévíz ever since. According to another legend once upon a time the commander of Csobánc castle fell in love with the daughter of Tátika castle’s castellan. The commander had often seen the girl leaning on her elbow at the towers of the castle. The two castellans were enemies. The commander of Csobánc castle went to fight for the girl. It was only revealed that the girl was lame in both feet when he won the fight. As an old woman suggested, after the wedding they built a house for themselves on the shores of Hévíz Lake so that the young lady could often dip her legs into the warm water. A few weeks later the lame feet were healed and the lovers lived happily ever after. It happened even earlier than our great-great-grandfathers’ times that a shepherd grazed his stock in the surrounding hills and herded them beside the moor to drink. Suddenly he saw that one of his footsore cow kept disappearing in the shrubbery and just stood there. As he went closer he felt that the water was much warmer there. After that he came to bath his sore feet in the steaming water several times. Not even a lunistice passed and the miracle happened: his foot pain completely disappeared. This took wind in the estate and the shrewd landowner enclosed the warm water. This is how the thermal lake came into being for the happiness of many sick people. Did you heard about the legendary cherubs? The main entrance of the lake is guarded by two cherubs, which were made on behalf of the Festetics family at the turn of the 19th and 20th century and they are very similar to the Zsolnay family’s cherubs in Pécs. The dragon made of a lion and an eagle can also be found on Hévíz’s official coat of arms. The cherubs served the gods in the mythology of the ancient Semite folks. They stood in front of the gates and kept away the demons. Their images were engraved in the stones of kings’ palace gates or church gates, most likely that is why the Festetics family had them made as well.According to the legend, if someone walks through between two cherubs without love in the heart, the cherubs start speaking. According to another storyteller not the cherubs but the copper rooster placed on one of the towers of the baths starts speaking, if someone leaves the town without love. But there has never been a precedent for this.    Did you know, that the water temperature may reach 23-25 °C in winter and 33-36 °C in summer? The water of the lake is in a constant move. On the one hand, it is moving from left to the right, and on the other hand, warm water moves upwards while cold water goes downwards. This two-way flow keeps the water of the lake in a constant move, thus leaving a special massaging effect on the human skin. in winter it provides a spectacular and unique experience when the condensed steam forms a steam cap on the top of the lake surface? This “cap” prevents water from cooling down, and at the same time a natural inhalatorium is formed. Hydrogen sulphide is released into the air, which have medical effects on the exhausted vocal cords when inhaled. according to the memoires from the Roman era, the oldest and most famous thermal bath in Hungary can take pride in a history of over 2,000 years? Lake Hévíz, together with the volcanic hills of the Tapolca basin and those of the Tihany peninsula were included in the recommendation list of the World Heritage National Hungarian Committee in January 2003?

tartalom: + 1 However, the roots of the bathing cure known today date back to 1795, into the times of Count György Festetics. Thanks to the knowledge, accumulated since then, and to the expertise, hundreds of thousands have regained their health, so the Traditional Hévíz Therapy has become a trademark of the town. The Traditional Hévíz Therapy is based on the medicinal water of Hévíz, which, due to its rich mineral content, is particularly effective in the treatment of musculoskeletal disorders. Its effectiveness is proved by recent medical researches as well as thousands of cured guests. Using it as natural medicine – under medical guidelines – can help to mitigate several complaints. In the course of the Traditional Hévíz Therapy, the original complex Hévíz therapy is carried out on the chosen location in order that you can receive the most effective treatment method.
How does the Traditional Hévíz Therapy begin? In each case, the setting up of the complex therapy plan is preceded by a medical examination with condition assessment. Based on your personal condition, the specialists determine the therapy elements that build on each other, such as the duration of bathing in the medicinal water, the type and frequency of treatments, on the spot. The treatments are carried out according to specified rules by qualified personnel and under continuous medical control for the sake of your receiving quality service. What does the Traditional Hévíz Therapy consist of?The basic elements of the therapy, according to the individual treatment plan, may include: Bathing in qualified thermal water Medicinal mud wrap or mud bath of Hévíz Weight bath – based on a rheumatologist of Hévíz, Dr Moll Károly's invention Additional elements of the therapy, according to the individual treatment plan, may include: Consuming medicinal water of Hévíz from a drinking-fountain Therapeutic massage Movement therapy individually and/or in a group Physiotherapeutic treatments (electro-magnetic-mechano-light, etc.) Hydrotherapy: CO2 bathtub, underwater jet massage, galvanic bath Based on the condition assessment, a specialist determines, which of the above mentioned treatments are recommended to relieve your complaints. Each therapy is individually designed making sure that its elements reinforce each other. The healing treasures of the water are complemented and made complex by the curative power given by the natural environment. The green trees around the lake, the evaporating steam, which spreads out above the lake as a dome, exert their positive impact together. How long does the Traditional Hévíz Therapy take?During the Traditional Hévíz Therapy you attend at least 15 treatments from among the above described ones on consecutive days. The duration of the therapy should be 2 weeks in an ideal case. Not only do the treatments of Hévíz result in momentary improvement, but they also prevent the recurrence of pain for months. Where is the Traditional Hévíz Therapy available?A number of service provider offer the Traditional Hévíz Therapy and guarantee the proper application of knowledge and experience acquired over centuries. The Traditional Hévíz Therapy is available at the following locations: SAINT ANDREW HOSPITAL FOR RHEUMATIC DISEASES - Hotel Spa Hévíz **** Esana Thermal Aqua Health Spa Hotel **** Esana Thermal Hévíz Health Spa Hotel****superior Hotel Aquamarin*** Hotel Európa fit****superior Kolping Hotel Spa & Family Resort**** Medical Centre (BM Sanatorium) NaturMed Hotel Carbona****superior Take the Traditional Hévíz Therapy and experience the positive effects of the therapeutic factors! Many people can be thankful for the thermal water located here for their recovery. We asked Dr. Mándó Zsuzsanna, the medical director of Hévíz Spa and Saint Andrew’s Hospital for Rheumatic Diseases about the secret of the lake: What is so special about the thermal lake? The spring of the lake, which is rich in minerals, arises from a 38 metres deep cave, where tens of thousands of years old hot and cold karst waters mix with each other. The discharge of the lake is 410 l/s, so the water is completely changed every three days, the temperature in winter does not drop below 22 degrees Celsius – so outdoor bathing is also possible in winter -, in summer it even reaches 38 degrees Celsius.Because of its unique environment, the flora and fauna of the lake is very special, the different coloured water lilies planted in the lake are beautiful sights, they even blossom in late autumn. What kind of complaints can effectively be relieved by this water? The medicinal water of Hévíz can mainly be used for musculoskeletal diseases, including cases where follow-up treatments are needed after rheumatic, orthopaedic, musculoskeletal operations and injuries, but it is also perfectly suitable for chronic gynaecological and dermatological diseases as a complementary treatment. See the indications here!

tartalom: The story of the wine culture in Hévíz Wine-making on Egregy hill has a tradition which goes back to the Roman era when viticulture was introduced to the region. During the reign of the Árpád-dynasty, people continued this form of agriculture as proven by an official certificate dated back in 1221. In the Turkish era, the medieval village was destroyed and deserted, but the area was populated again after the immigration of German settlers at the beginning of the 17th century. Just like their ancestors, these people also continued traditional viticulture in the Balaton region. The region had excellent potentials for this activity: the warm and sometimes hot soil and the favourable climatic conditions always guaranteed and still guarantee the production of excellent quality wines, which was also complemented by the locals’ love of work. It is a special wine region of white wines but certain types of red wine grapes were also planted here. The most remarkable varieties of the region are Olaszrizling (“Italian Riesling), a Szürkebarát (Pinot Gris) and Rizlingszilváni (Müller Thurgau), but we may also find Zöldveltelini (Green veltliner) and different types of Muskotály (Muscat) too. Egregy is not only famous for its church, which was built during the reign of the Árpád-dynasty, but thanks to the favourable natural features viticulture also plays a significant part in the life of the area. Egregy hill was classified as a high-quality wine region in 1998, and the wines produced here were classified as characteristic wines of the Balaton region. The local government also found and still finds it important to popularize the wines of Hévíz, therefore, in March 2007 the Wine of the town of Hévíz was chosen for the first time, which event is also held every year. Ask for the Wine of the town at your landlord, at restaurants, or at the Tourinform Office. Or you can order it from our webshop. Would you like to know what the most popular wines and types of grapes are around Hévíz?
It was produced by Bakonyi Károly by the crossing of Irsai Olivér and Roter Traminer. This kind of grape is resistant to frost, its wine is full-bodied and has a spicy taste. It is one of the most typical type in the Hévíz region. Wines made of this variety have been chosen as the wine of the town several times.
This is the most common and well-known grape variety in Hungary. It has a bitter almond taste and a distinctive aroma.
It is called ‘Szürkebarát’ (Grey monk) in Hungarian language. Its taste is rich in flavours and extract and it has fine acidity.
It is a reductive, well-recognisable, fruity, sometimes soft wine. It has a distinctive type of character.
It is a high-quality white wine grape variety. Its aroma is very characteristic, it is similar to that of the pepper. Its wine is thin, distinctive and easily recognisable.
This variety of grape is common worldwide, it has a French origin. Its wine is very characteristic, its aroma is reminiscent of grass, elderberry and nettle, which comes with fine acidity. It is also matured in bottle.
