tartalom: + 1 Med. Veronika Moll - Head physician, rheumatologist, specialist in physiotherapy “In our family, curing is a multi-generational tradition. I did not even think about choosing another profession. My parents also worked as rheumatologists in Hévíz. My father, Dr Károly Moll created the flow map of Lake Hévíz and invented the weight bath. My mother, Dr Ilona Hoffmann was the first female rheumatologist of Hévíz bath, therefore this world was not unknown to me even as a child. I like my profession because it is really varied. As a rheumatologist, I have to take into account the results of many fields of expertise and background areas from orthopaedics to internal medicine. Behind a symptom can be a number of causes that need to be thoroughly mapped, so personalised treatments work extremely well. Most of our guests returning after a year say they were totally symptom-free in the period between the two treatment courses. It is also not uncommon that prosthesis surgeries already appointed can be avoided by using the Traditional Hévíz Therapy.”     TRADITIONAL HÉVÍZ THERAPY What problems can help Hévíz, and the Traditional Hévíz Therapy? Back, neck and spine pain Joint degeneration and calcification e.g. knee, hip, shoulder, wrist complaints Problems with muscles and ligaments After-treatment of rheumatologic, orthopaedic, musculoskeletal surgeries and accidents Prevention and treatment of ‘manager diseases’ Sports injuries The basic elements of the Traditional Hévíz Therapy: Bathing in certified medicinal water Medicinal mud wrap or a Hévíz mud bath Weight bath – based on the invention of acclaimed rheumatologist and Hévíz resident, Dr Károly Moll.
Additional elements: Therapeutic massage, movement therapy, physio- and hydro-therapy, drinking cure Why are Hévíz therapies special? Complex therapy that focuses on the individual Continuous medical control  Individualised therapy based on a treatment plan  Long-term effects Natural cure Effectiveness proven by recent medical researches The steps of the therapy Medical examination Creating an individualised treatment plan Attending treatments: Ideally, 1-2 treatments a day for 2-3 weeks Medical examination and assessment The total cost or a part of the cost of the Hévíz therapy can be covered by your domestic health insurance provider. tartalom: + 1 On the occasion of Advent more and more Christmas lights go up also this year in Hévíz. In addition to the festive decorations of public places, service providers also await the visiting guests with more and more beautiful shop windows and decorated houses. The eye-catching Christmas lights, the decorations, which are sometimes traditional, sometimes  romantic and lovely  or in many cases made of using natural materials, the Christmas tree of the town and the Advent wreath together create the Christmas atmosphere of Hévíz.  This Advent, the Hévíz TDM Association also announced a Christmas decoration contest titled „A brilliant idea!”, for which anyone could enter, who felt that he/she offered customers a really gorgeus christmas window display.   The jury took a walk around the town in the afternoon of 4th December in order to rate the shop windows, and announced its rating points in several categories, such as elegance, harmonic appearence, style, use of natural materials, surprising, funny or fabulous ideas. The general public could vote for the service provider who would won the Audience Award based on the pictures shared by the participants on the website www.facebook.com/heviz.info. Awards were given out in a total of 4 categories.  I. Business premises, catering establishments: First prize: Hofbrau Vendéglő (Restaurant) (931/9 Nagyparkoló Square) Second prize: Magyar Csárda(Restaurant) (2 Tavirózsa Street) and Street Fashion clothes shop (2 Széchenyi Street)   II. Therefore, besides the first prize the manager of the restaurant Czigány Hedvig  could also receive a challenge cup, for which there hopefully will be a lot of applicants next year.   We would recommend that our guests explore all the small beauties of the town, find the most atmospheric store, restaurant or accommodation, try the ice rink re-opened on 5th December after the bathings in the pleasantly warm water of the lake, visit the arts and crafts Advent market and warm up your heart by tasting a pleasantly scenting punch, tea or mulled wine under the twinkling festive lights.    We wish you a merry Christmas!

To experience when water drops as tiny little balls give a gentle massage to the body is unique throughout the whole world. The medicinal lake of Hévíz not only provides the feeling of bathing, but also means the basis of traditional medical treatments and healing wellness treatments. Bath treatment constitutes the basis of the medical and healing treatment of Lake Hévíz, but it is also important to emphasise such unique medical treatments as mud-pack, the famous weight bath, different types of medical massage and drinking cure. The healing treasures of the thermal water are complemented by the medical effects provided by the natural environment. It means that the green trees around the lake and the released steam which extends in a cap-like shape over the lake create a joint effect.   The recommended duration of medical treatments in Hévíz is 2 weeks, but our guests may stay for shorter or longer treatments as well. A traditional one or more-week medical treatment usually starts with a thorough examination by a specialist, mainly a rheumatologist doctor, and is followed by special treatments, which are carried out by expert professionals. The therapy treatment of Hévíz includes mechano-, balneo- and physiotherapy treatments, the joint application of which have a combined effect. The manager and operator of the thermal lake is Hévíz Thermal Lake and Saint Andrew Hospital for Rheumatic Diseases public company, which offers its guests a wide range of services. tartalom: + 1 Alexandra Czene, the manager of the Hévíz Lake Bath, told us that the temporary closure of the main entrance of Hévíz Lake Bathis needed due to renovation. The renovation will take at least 6-7 months, so the popular entrance with the cherubs in the Dr Schulhof Vilmos Promenade is expected to reopen in June. The dressing rooms of the main entrance buildingwill be renovated. The dressing rooms will undergo complex renovation work from November, so next summer, a completely refurbished, much nicer and more modern changing-room will be offered forvisitors. During the closing period, the Hévíz Lake Bath will be accessible via the entrance of the Festetics Bathhouse (Ady Endre Street), and the cash desks will continue to operate withthe usual opening hours. The Festetics Bathhouse entrance is accessible by car from Ady Street.Parking is available in the parking lot next to the overfall weir and, driving along Ady Street, in the designated car park, where you can also charge electric cars. On foot or by bicycle from Deák Square (bus station), you can reach the Festetics entrance in about 10 minutes by going along the promenade between the protective forest and Lake Hévíz. Walking along the Dr Schulhof Vilmos Promenade past the main entrance of the Lake Bath, the other entrance can be accessed by following the lake fence; it is about a 3 minutes' walk from the 'cherub' entrance. During the transitional period, visitors will be able to use the dressing rooms of the Festetics Bathhouse and, if necessary, the staff of the Lake Bath will also create temporary dressing rooms at several points of the bath, about which visitorswillbe informed. Despite the renovation work, the Lake Bath is not planning to close or temporarily shut down, so you can expect to be able to enjoy the services of Lake Hévíz in the winter too. However, the spa staff would like to kindly ask for the visitors’ patience and understanding if the operating changing-rooms will be a bit more crowded during the winter, especially in the holiday season. By the time the open-air bath opens in May,hopefully, the cash desks of the main entrance, which now are closing, will be opened partially, or, depending on the number of visitors and the weather, the Deák Square entrance will be opened a little earlier in order to providean easier access to the open-air bath andthe summer changing-rooms. Visitors to the spa will also experience other work around the main entrance, as there will be public utility work in front of the main entrancein the spring, followed by a major promenade renovation, which is expected in the second half of next year. However, these works are not related to the renovation of the changing-room of Lake Bath.

tartalom: + 1 Ed. Fouten first visited Hungary 17 years ago and while travelling around the country decided to come live in Hévíz and Cserszegtomaj. He loves and knows the area very much. It is interesting that a South African world-travelled citizen who speaks 7 languages   chose Hévíz as his place of residence and to retire here.   Where did you first hear about Hévíz? My first interest was by meeting a Catholic Hungarian priest at the church I was schooled at and being a good priest his positive interest stayed with me to visit Hungary one day which I did. I was very interested in Hungarian history and culture, so I bought a book with photos and a video. What did you like about buying real estate in Hévíz and its surroundings? The lake Balaton, héviz thetmal lake, beauty, country life, houses, restaurants, market, food, the world-class dentists and the people!   He would tell you a little bit about himself. What did you do in South Africa? I worked as a Finance Manager and Accountant and responsible for Audits. But everyone is interesting! For example, I also read a lot about Hungarian history, culture, architecture music, wines, different foods (paprika and lángos) the language and the lake!   How did you manage to learn Hungarian, which is considered to be one of the hardest languages in the world? I speak seven languages: English, Flemish, African, German, French and Spanish. I learned to speak German here, which was quite easy after learning English, not to mention the many German speaking people living here. I am learning Hungarian constantly. I understand and use a lot of words, however, I haven't managed to speak fluently and consistently yet. Maybe during the quarantine, I will have more time to focus on language learning.   What are you doing now in Hévíz, now that everything you can do here is closed?  I never get bored, I have a lot of friends in the area (Many Hungarian). I learned to cook Hungarian food and I like to host my friends. I go hiking in the area, December is a very nice month. In the summer, during the first wave of the epidemic, I had to travel home to visit my mother who was ill and needed care. My 90-year-old mother is now fine, but unfortunately due to the ongoing covid-19 pandemic and worldwide lockdown and borders closed, I had to wait until September to return to Hévíz. I missed it a lot. It was a very sad time not to experience the summer here, but I remained hopeful! I have many friends, in Cserszegtomaj. I have many grape vine trees, from which I make wine with the help of a local friend. Also apricot trees. In the meantime, I'm writing a motivational book on how to live a happy positive life. Another book will be about my travels and architecture, churches, and buildings. Do you have children, do they also visit Hévíz? I am the baptpismal godfather to two children in Keszthely, one is 5 and the other is 7 years old. They are sporty, active and happy children when they see me. They love their bicycles and want my attention to play with them!   Have relatives of your South African friends ever visited you? Yes of course. I used to organize a program for them, to introduce the area, I was accompanied by a group of 10 people. Even now, my acquaintances are waiting at home to end the virus situation and travel to visit me.They want to experience what the place has to offer and the country as a tourist. The friends also come from many other parts of the world, amongst others Canada, the UK, France, Switzerland, Mauritius and many who show interest to come. They want to experience the good dental work done here.   Which season do you like best in Hévíz? All seasons are beautiful. Spring with the freshness, beautiful flowers, summer with so much happening, autumn with the beautiful colors of the trees changing and winter with festivities lights, decorations and markets. Also waiting for some snow and the lake freezing up!   Do you swim in Lake Hévíz? Yes, as much as possible. In summer, seeing the sunset while swimming in lake Balaton and the “Hot air balloon" flying over! The thermal lake is refreshing and peaceful.   What is your favorite place in the area? The whole area has much to offer. The whole country I want to visit which has so much to offer a tourist which I promote.

tartalom: + 1 The IMTM 2023 – International Mediterranean Tourism Market was held two months ago in Expo Tel Aviv for the first time after COVID. The exhibition was a success. Endless booths and representations of both countries and private tourism providers alike. Walking between the cubicles and meeting hundreds of professionals, I suddenly noticed a small modest counter in a remote corner with the Hungarian flag. There I met Petr Ostrovkin, an impressive businessman with his intrepetor. I was curious about the product he was trying to market – a hotel in Hungary he owns on a small lake I never heard of. Petr invited me to visit and within a few weeks I found myself spending an incredible time by Europe’s largest thermal basin – lake Hévíz, chick to chick with Lake Balton.
There I investigated, discovered and experienced – why do Hungarians desire top thermal baths so much. Or, is it true that Hungary is indeed a “bathing world-power”.  The explanation is rather straightforward – history, tradition and geography are all mixed, like a traditional Jewish Cholent. The Romans that ruled in ancient Hungary left first their famous mark here. They had bathing and cleaning habits. Bathing was an important part of their lifestyle, which meant refreshing the body and soul. They built baths in this region, mainly for their military forces. Several private baths were also framed by wealthy Romans in their mansions. It is believed that the Roman healers built separate bathing complexes for those who were in poor health condition.   Hungarian bath culture started flourishing with medieval Turkish rule – an art wall creation in Rudas bath, Budapest (photo by Motti Verses) Going back in time – Rudas turkish style sink, Budapest (photo by Motti Verses) However it is believed that the Hungarian bath culture started flourishing with medieval Turkish rule. The Ottoman Empire, historically  the Turkish Empire, controlled much of southeast Europe, including Hungary. They are the ones that lay down the foundations of thermal baths. The Ottomans also introduced people to the habits of their wellness treatments. Massages, body creams and oils. The Turks valued bathing as both a cleansing ritual and social gathering. The Hungarians were doubtful. Only the Turks were allowed to use the baths during the day. Curious Hungarians only went to the thermal baths at night-time, especially in Budapest that was and still is a city of bathing power. The rest is history. Over the years these baths became part of a balanced life culture in Hungary. Bearing in mind that the country has no access to an ocean or a sea, relying on Lake Balaton for recreational needs, local baths flourished. The neighbors in Austria, once part of the joint dual Monarchy under the name Austro-Hungarian Empire, similarly love thermal baths . Lake Hévíz, Europe’s largest thermal basin (photo by Motti Verses) Endless steam – Lake Hévíz (photo by Motti Verses) A small creek with water coming from the lake- similar as the hotel thermal baths (photo by Motti Verses) No wonder the small Lake Hévíz, Europe’s largest thermal basin is an extremely popular destination – a two hours drive, either from Budapest or Vienna. It is 38.5 meters deep, with 410 liters per second water flow rate and biologically volcanically active – a natural thermal lake with magical health capabilities. Some call it the fountain of life. Since 1795 these healing waters helped people to recover and regain their strength. Most visitors return home refreshed and rejuvenated. Experts indicate that the chemical ingredients of cold and hot water springs, with 40 degrees of sulphuric medicinal water here, are richer than those in thermal baths in Budapest. Hévíz is where Petr Ostrovkin’s hotel is. He hopes Israelis will in time flock to his shimmering estate. His Lotus Therme Hotel & Spa offers 232 rooms and suites and is an ultimate destination for a relaxing and therapeutic vacation. The hotel is located in a gigantic natural park within walking distance to Lake Hévíz. This walk is rather surreal along a small creek with steam water coming from the lake. Our visit was just recently but the temperatures were low and a constant drizzle dominated our stay. Endless steam evaporates as the water temperature is very high. Guests may enjoy Lake Hévíz mineral water reaching the spa via pipes. Definitely the most rewarding experiences one can enjoy here. Lotus Therme is a pampering traditional hotel. A variety of different indoor pools in contrasting water temperatures are offered. The great jacuzzi was the strongest I have ever experienced. The main round pool is heated, but does not contain healing water. Pouring rain while your body is soaked deep in hot water is just paradise. We loved our morning swim in this well maintained pool. A unique experience in any weather conditions. The wellness spa offers a variety of treatments with Lake Hévíz products, however we did not experience them. The pampering pools were just fantastic. The daily scenery from the room balcony – total relaxation (photo by Motti Verses) A great experience while swimming – constant drizzle with steam evaporation, as the water temperature is very high (photo by Motti Verses) The relaxing lobby of Lotus Therme Hotel & Spa (photo by Motti Verses) Lotus is the key element here as this water flower really blossoms on this never surprising natural wonder. Apparently they like the volcanic water and always thrive in warm water with a need room to grow. The lake provides the perfect environment and the hotel wisely promotes this unique phenomenon as a marketing tool in its logo and with endless art creations all over the facilities. Advertisement   Hungarians and Austrians might carry a mosaic of a historical ambivalent relationship, but both people surly adore Lake Hévíz. The majority of guests in the hotel originate from those countries that share love for thermal baths. Lotus Therme Hotel & Spa is offering both food and entertainment with this fact in mind. Pleasant veteran General Manager Attila Fulop is heading skilled team members that work here for many years. Dressed with formal clothes they all recognize the guests who keep returning here. Loyal customers are the best proof for success. The menu at dinner is different each evening and the variety is one of the most generous I have seen. The bar is crowded each night and live dancing with different musicians each day are offered here. Guests of all ages are actually dancing. General Manager Fulop knows his work. A dream of a good hotelier is to keep his guests in its premises and not looking for alternatives elsewhere. A variety of different indoor pools in contrasting water temperatures are offered (photo by Motti Verses) Lotus is the key element here as this water flower really blossoms on the lake (photo by Motti Verses) The bar – live dancing with different musicians each evening (photo by Motti Verses) Lotus Therme Hotel & Spa by night (photo by Motti Verses) With General Manager Attila Fulop(left) – a true Hungarian professional hotelier(photo by Motti Verses) One question remains. Will Israelis flock to Hévíz? Hamat Gader hot springs site in the Yarmouk River valley, used since the classical antiquity, is one of the most popular attractions for Israelis. With that in mind and the endless daily flights from Ben Gurion airport to Budapest, the potential is certainly there. Especially in winter when the flight costs are rock bottom. Hévíz here we come.

lead: For the 13th time this year, on May 4, MI6 awarded certificates to the service providers and institutions that achieved the best results in terms of energy savings in the past year.
tartalom: + 1 Hungarian Innovation and Efficiency (MI6) Nonprofit Kft was established in 2011. The goal of the organization, which is also supported by the UN, is to promote all the energy efficiency processes through which Hungarian service providers can save energy and thereby save additional resources. The essence of the Virtual Power Plant Program (VEP) they operate is that: Unused energy is the greenest energy! The less energy we use, the more we can reduce CO2 emissions, thereby making the operation of our facilities more sustainable, energetically efficient and cheaper. The economic value of unused energy is the same as that of produced energy. With unused energy, we not only manage resources more efficiently, but also save money. The aim of the organization is to have service providers connected to the program either from the entrepreneurial, residential, civil or public sector; over time, do NOT use as much energy on an annual basis, so save as much as PAKS can produce. All of these results can be achieved with investments aimed at energy efficiency, technical developments, conscious decisions, the use of smart systems, lifestyle changes, recycling... For the 13th time this year, on May 4, MI6 awarded certificates to the service providers and institutions that achieved the best results in terms of energy savings in the past year.   How did the Hévízgyógyfürdő Szent András Rheumatic Hospital earn the certificate? The certificate is awarded for 1 year, and environmental engineer György Németh, the technical manager of the Szent András Rheumatic Hospital, told us about how to earn it. MI6 announced the program for the 13th year, but the Hévíz hospital applied for certification for the first time this year. Service providers can apply in different institutional categories, we have measured ourselves among hospitals. In order to be certified as an energy-conscious hospital, it was necessary to present the already implemented and planned measures aimed at energy efficiency, as well as to show how much we were able to reduce the institution's CO2 emissions in 2022 as a result of the technical changes, investments, and developments that have already been implemented, as well as how much we could count on financial savings. We can be proud that we met expectations in every respect. In recent years, several technical solutions have been completed in the hospital, with which we can achieve more energy-efficient operation of the facility. These include, for example, heat pump development, the solar park, rethinking the operation of facilities with building energy control smart systems. Of course, further developments are also planned. These will allow us to manage energy in different ways in different parts of the institution. It is also important for us to strive for a change of attitude among hospital workers, to make them interested in sustainable energy management in the long term.   How new is energy-conscious thinking in Hévíz? In Hévíz, the issue of sustainability and environmental awareness has long been an important and prominent aspect. Of course, this is also due to the fact that Lake Hévíz and its surroundings are a nature conservation area, so many regulations must be complied with. From the point of view of tourism, protecting this natural treasure is of particular importance in the settlement. Among the institutions in Hévíz, at the Szent András Rheumatic Hospital in Hévíz, we have been dealing with sustainability issues, energy efficiency, and cost-effective facility operation for a long time. This is also proven by the fact that this is not the first recognition of our work in the last 10 years. The institution has previously received the Greenovation award and the Ozone Green award. Of course, processes and developments in this direction have intensified since the first Covid year in 2019. The economic and social changes of recent years have initiated several processes in more and more institutions and state support systems, all of which favor decisions aimed at more cost-effective operation. Why is this award important? The Certificate of the MI6 Energy-conscious Hospital confirms that we are on the right track, that what we do is important. These recognitions are also very important to us because we consider this work to be a form of social responsibility. It is important that others know about it, the people who live here, our colleagues, the guests who come here. Let them see that sustainability is a priority in Hévíz and in our hospital, Tófürdő too! It must be seen that even a small intervention, operational decision or investment can achieve huge results in such a large institution. In fact! I'm going further! In an institution of this size, it is possible to save at least as much energy as with a new technical solution in the form of an investment, just by conscious employee behavior and conscious energy use. I believe that small steps can go a long way. Personally, my task is to operate a long-term sustainable Hévízfürdő together with my colleagues and everyone who works here. On May 4, the Energy-Aware Hospital Certification was presented to the hospitals by Katalin Szili, the hereditary patron of the VEP, and Zoltán Jenei (OKFŐ).
