Our guests represented EETS – Europe Express Travel Service and came from a Chinese town located approximately 100 kilometres from Shanghai, where thermal water with curative effects has also been discovered. The international travel company has been organising European journeys for more than three decades, with a particular focus on guests and groups arriving from Asian markets. In addition to tailor-made itineraries, EETS specialises in business and incentive travel as well as premium group tours.
Accordingly, the professional programme focused on the clinical and recreational use of thermal water and the distinctive therapeutic culture that has developed around it in Hévíz. The Chinese experts were particularly interested in learning how a unique natural resource can, over time, become a defining element of a destination’s medical and health tourism profile. Their aim is to return home and build consciously on their own local resources, following a path that, in our spa town, has evolved over more than two centuries into a deeply rooted tradition and, ultimately, an internationally recognised trademark. In 2015, Lake Hévíz and the traditional Hévíz therapy built around its healing waters were also granted the prestigious status of Hungarikum, securing their place in the Collection of Hungarikums as a unique national treasure of Hungary.
The presentation introducing Hévíz and the knowledge exchange that followed generated great enthusiasm and were very positively received. Representatives of the delegation made it clear that they do not regard this visit as a one-off occasion and expressed their openness to further cooperation. The meeting may therefore mark the beginning of a new and mutually beneficial long-term professional relationship.
Hévíz is thus not only a leading health tourism destination, but also a source of inspiration and a model for those seeking to harness the therapeutic potential of thermal water to the highest standards, while preserving these valuable natural and medical assets for future generations.
