The aim of the installation is to provide shaded, cooler areas even in places where greenery cannot be planted — such as event venues. The shade sails now offer protection from the sun along the final uncovered section of the pedestrian route between Kölcsey Street and the Thermal Lake, ensuring a more pleasant walking experience.
The project was funded entirely by a non-repayable grant from the European Union, as part of the Interreg Central Europe programme and in partnership with international municipalities. The BeReady initiative focuses on mitigating the urban heat island effect caused by asphalt and concrete surfaces in Central European towns and cities.
Several other infrastructure and recreational development projects are also underway in Hévíz. Among them is the construction of a bypass road near Nemesbük, which will facilitate the movement of agricultural vehicles from surrounding areas, helping to ease traffic congestion within the town. The city administration remains committed to implementing projects that improve quality of life and make Hévíz an even more sustainable and attractive destination for both residents and visitors.
